Her past and present are an open book to him, and her future is in his hands. But she soon owns his heart.
He thinks he can commandeer my life and make me his property, but he’s picked the wrong girl.
Black gloves and a jaguar mask. That’s all I know about my stalker, the man who wants to enslave me. The Jaguar is the most in-control person I’ve ever met, but his smooth front conceals a deadly capacity to ruin and dominate, an iron will that takes what it wants with impunity. That’s why I need to run. He wants to claim me as his plaything, but I’m no one’s toy, and no one orders me around.
But once he’s captured me, the rules of the game shift, and I’m forced to face my demons head-on, taking everything the Jaguar throws at me. Growing up, all I ever wanted was to be seen. Now that my stalker has become my master, I’m more seen than ever. Yet I also see that my mind is a dark place. Will he break me before I can redeem myself?
I’m hunting new prey: a reluctant Persephone who’s about to be enchained in my Hades.
Three projects consume my life: toppling a crooked billionaire, finding out who killed my sister, and reversing climate change. But when I set eyes on Pearl, these goals pale in comparison to enslaving her. The dynamite at her core called to me from the first. True to her name, she’s a precious gem, made for my enjoyment. But since I’ve never liked an easy chase, I plan to make this challenging. And if I read her right, she’ll be fun to tame.
Yet she catches me off guard at every turn. In order to break her down, I have to confront my past crimes, my guilt, and my rationale for enslaving women. For every uncomfortable truth she acknowledges, I’m forced to hide three of my own. Denial has served me well for years, but how long will it defend me from her hope, courage, and openness?
Formerly an academic, I took up writing romance recently and quite by accident. In early 2022 the right elements conjoined—my love of villains, my taste for high comedy, and my pull towards strong women. Now I can’t stop cooking up plots and drawing new characters. Though I write mostly dark romance, I invariably weave plenty of reality into the fantasy. My preference for lone wolves, quirky characters, and intense plot results in what my reader and author friends call romance with teeth. I live in Berkeley, California with my dachshund-Chihuahua, Pooh-bah. When I’m not writing, I love traveling, cooking, playing piano, and cycling in the nearby hills.
This was an intense and spicy journey, following a mysterious MMC with multiple agendas, and a competitive and sassy FMC who becomes prey to her predator. Nym is obsessive, controlling and complex, he's set his sights on Pearl, and has dark plans to gain her submission whether she wants it or not. Stalked, blackmailed, kidnapped and caged, Pearl is pushed to her limits by the masked stranger, yet curiously drawn to figuring him out too. Nym can come across as arrogant and it took me a while to like him as a character, but when his barriers come down and you see his vulnerability it opens up whole new layers to him. I like that they challenged each other, and unknowingly provide healing and comfort for their own traumas. I also enjoyed the added layers of mystery, drama, intrigue, and secrets.
💀"I won't be you to my will, I'll crack you in two"
💀"Why should I trust you? You've stalked me, stolen me from my life, and caged me"
💀"I can sooner live a day without oxygen than without you"
Ooh la la! Another fantastic dark romance by Kathleen Haley! And boy, does she know how to write alphaholes with serious commitment issues.
Zana is exactly that, dominant, mysterious, arrogant (serious god-complex here), distrustfull, conflicted, and honestly…a little mean. He has a dark past full of betrayal and regrets, making him into the alphahole we love to hate. I loved Pearl, she is feisty and smart. She’s very competitive with pretty much everything in life. So submitting to Zane is a big deal for her because she feels like she loses “the game” if she does, and she absolutely hates to lose. While Zane wants to control every aspect of Pearl’s life, Pearl loves to defy him at every turn.
Ofcourse there is so much more to the story. I honestly love that about Kathleen’s books. There are so many layers, so many things going on with the lives of the main characters, a bit of danger, and some crazy smart plot twists. Ofcourse the romance and fireworks between characters is off the charts, but I enjoy these books all the more because the backstory is always so good. Looking forward to the next!
When I tell you this whole series is an absolute must read I am not joking! This is the next installment of "The Senses Series" by Kathleen Haley and it is my new favourite. It has everything! Amazing story writing, character depth and development, plot twists, mystery and ALL the spice!! Check your triggers of course and if your all good dive right in you won't be sorry.
I just love the way Kathleen writes such a gripping story from start to finish. The fullness of her characters and their stories, I became just as engrossed in one of the side characters, Hunter, and I need his story so badly !
The sight of obsession follows the story of Pearl and Zane. They each have their own demons to face if they have any chance of overcoming the power struggle dynamic in this relationship. They meet when a masked Zane who has been watching her from across the room, stops someone from trying to spike Pearls drink, from then on he is obsessed. He will have her. Zane sets his sights on claiming Pearl to be his slave, but Pearl is not the type to be told what to do!
Pearl is a strong willed fighter, she will take on anyone and stop at nothing to achieve whatever she puts her mind to. But that need to win has been her downfall too and she has to learn how to let go and find her authentic self.
Zane is a control freak with serious trust issues. He is committed to his goals in life and won't let anyone get in the way.
Add in some past traumas, secretly identities, a corrupt CEO billionaire, lost loved ones, family dynamics, secrets upon secrets, a healthy dose of spice and you have an absolute winner.
You can read this stand alone but I recommend the whole dam series. I ate it up!!
If you’re looking for a romance that plays nice, The Sight of Obsession is not that book. Kathleen takes us on an electrifying ride into the dark corners of obsession, control, and submission—where love is laced with danger and trust is an ever-shifting game of power.
Enter Zane, aka The Jaguar—an enigmatic, dominant, and dangerously intelligent man who sees Pearl and decides she will be his. He’s got trust issues the size of a skyscraper, a god complex that could rival the best of them, and a past riddled with betrayal. But beneath the arrogance and control lies a man fighting demons of his own. Pearl? She’s no damsel waiting to be claimed. Fierce, competitive, and relentless, she refuses to bow—even as Zane stalks, blackmails, and cages her, pushing her to the very edges of herself.
Their chemistry? A ticking time bomb. The power struggles? Deliciously frustrating. Pearl and Zane are constantly at each other’s throats—sometimes in defiance, sometimes in desperation, and sometimes in ways that will leave you breathless. It’s a relentless push-and-pull between two people equally obsessed with winning… until winning turns into something neither of them expected.
Beyond the heat (and trust me, it is hot), the book is a masterclass in tension and intrigue. Kathleen layers in mystery, secrets upon secrets, and a cast of side characters (Hunter, I’m looking at you) that are just as compelling as the main duo. The psychological depth adds an extra punch—exploring the fine line between control and surrender, love and obsession, trauma and healing.
This is not your typical captor-captive romance. It’s twisted, it’s unapologetic, and it will leave you questioning everything. If you love a dark, gritty, and sinfully addictive read with a dominant MMC, a fiery FMC, and enough emotional turmoil to have you screaming into the void—The Sight of Obsession is your next obsession.
Final thoughts? Kathleen doesn’t just write romances—she crafts an experience. Buckle up, because this one will own you.

DNF. This book sounds like something I'd normally enjoy, but I just couldn't connect with the writing. Between weird dialogue and purple prose, this just wasn't for me.
I had the opportunity to be an ARC reader! I absolutely loved this! The characters were amazing and I loved how it was set in London! This is the 6th book in The Senses Series but they are all standalones within the series! If you like Dark Stalker Romance books then this is for you! I highly recommend!
Thank you Kathleen Haley for letting me be apart of the ARC team!
Into masked men? Into men who stalk and kidnap their obsession? Into aggressive dom, bondage, and master/slave relationships? Into a lot of plot and good story, not only spice? Into happily-ever-afters?
Then this book absolutely needs to be on your Read list!!
One night at a club, Pearl encounters a jaguar-masked man who saves her from being drugged. But he then inserts himself into her evening out with friends, as her boyfriend. Pearl is sassy and competitive, so she is not about to allow him to get away with anything without asserting herself and one-upping him.
But Nym gets what he wants. And he wants Pearl. Body, mind, and soul. She is his, from the moment he noticed her when he walked in.
And when she attempts to risk herself for a competition, he kidnaps her to fully claim her as his slave. He is determined she will give in to his will. She is determined to discover his identity while unwillingly succumbing to his will. At least, at first.
Who is Nym, really?
I ADORED THIS BOOK!! Pearl and Nym/Zane are an amazing match for each other. Pearl is not about to simply bow down to Zane at first. And he will not brook any argument from Pearl without divulging pieces of herself so that can continue his taming of her.
This book will have you squirming, squealing, and screaming!!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
✴️Breeding ✴️BDSM ✴️Master/sub ✴️Hidden Identity ✴️Family Secrets ✴️Stalker ✴️Touch Her and D!e ✴️Billionaire Alphahole
Okay, ma'am, what are you doing to us with your MMCs? I didn't think I could love any of them more than Gavin (The Sound of Power for those who don't know), but Zane blasted way past him. I usually hate his type of alphahole in the beginning, but I actually loved him from the get go. 🤷🏼♀️
There is no meet cute here. Just Pearl hanging out trying to meet an author to further her career, and Zane defending her from a would be attacker. From that point, he decides to claim her thoroughly. Straight forward, right? WRONG! He is completely unhinged in his pursuit and more than willing to lie to her friends from that first night. The stalking escalates until she nearly unalives herself and his plan to kidnap her are pushed up.
She's unlike any slave he has ever had and actually finds he doesn't want to completely break her, but they both have so many trust issues to get through. Throw in some family secrets and drama you didn't see coming, and we've got the perfect ride. I wish I could give this more than 5⭐!
I absolutely love being part of this team and reading her books. Keep them coming, Kathleen!!
"She’s my kind of perfection, yet apparently she’s my greatest weakness."
I keep saying this series keeps getting better and better. This one was another great book!
Zane was the biggest asshole; everything he puts Pearl through...ugh, sometimes i just wanted to smack him so hard!! But he was so irresistible 🫠 He cared deeply about the planet, and everything he did to get to the bottom of his sister's death was enough to make me love him more.
Pearl, on the other hand, she was fierce and strong, and she was so sure of herself. She fell for Zane even though he stalked her and enslaved her and made her do awful things, lucky girl, lol
They had so much chemistry; they were so good for each other. Both were competitive and willful, a perfect match.
Ch.17 had me in a chokehold, I went through every emotion reading that chapter, i was mad for Pearl, I was laughing out loud i was sad for her, and the second-hand embarrassment 😳 I felt bad for Zane a little too...
This has been my favorite by far!!
Zane defined in a quote...😍
“I’ll stalk you as long as I live and beyond the grave.”
This is my honest ARC review, which I received from author.
Story ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 🌶️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 Chemistry ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
Wellll what can I say. I loved this book! Nym/Zane who has emotional history, thus closed himself off from feelings of the heart.
Pearl who has her own skeletons in the closet which she needs to face to grow. I loved the chemistry between them, can totally imagine why she would be so drawn to him, someone strong who can handle her.
Zane is so totally smitten from the start but in denial, with a girl who has both worlds in terms of character, strong yet soft, extrovert and introvert.
Their 🌶️ scenes are delicious, just one segment with a certain strawberry gave me the icky factor tho.. im all for licking and eating, but brrr 😂🫣
The plot was good!! Loved it!! Storyline didn’t feel rushed overal, just a tiny moving towards the end to my taste, but there’s nothing more to tell, so I can look over that.
All in all loved this book!! Cant wait to read more from this author🥰🥰

This is definitely Kathleen’s darkest romance I’ve read yet! The combination of Pearl’s stubbornness and Zane’s ruthlessness definitely makes for a compelling read. He definitely isn’t a character I will be forgetting anytime soon.
I loved the references to Ariadne and Titus and Astrid and Geraint, from The Taste of Deceit! It’s so fun having these characters all be in the same world together. Kathleen does a brilliant job weaving all these plot points together in a way that always surprises me.
If you like hot, dominant men, these books are MEANT for you!! Nobody does spice like Kathleen and I cannot recommend her enough.
I voluntarily reviewed a free advance copy of this book provided by the author. The opinions expressed are my own.
The Sight of Obsession is a dark romance where Pearl is being hunted by Zane. He doesn't do relationships in any way, he's very into being dominant. When he sees Pearl, he knows he has to have her and follows her for weeks before taking her. She is strong and independent, not like his other pets that want to be controlled. He soon realizes how different she is and how much he is losing his own control and changing his thinking about her and relationships in general. There are some twists and turns throughout that lead to Zane and Pearl struggling over their relationship. Will Zane realize that his past doesn't control him and his feelings of being worthy of a relationship?
I ended up really enjoying this book! The first 50% was a bit of a struggle for me, but as the story picked up, I found myself truly appreciating the depth of the characters and the well-thought-out plot.
This was my first time reading a master-slave trope, and I’ll admit it made me uncomfortable at the start. But as the story progressed, I could see how it fit into the world and character dynamics.
Zane was intense. His god-complex had me convinced I wouldn’t like him at all, but he might just be the most damaged and haunted MMC I’ve ever read. This man has been through it. 😭 And by the end? Total sweetheart.
Pearl’s character also surprised me with her complexity, and I really liked how Zane helped her work through her struggles with her parents. Their dynamic was unexpectedly deep and well-written.
Once you start reading, you won’t want to put it down. The plot is filled with twists and turns, and the character development is captivating. The side characters are not merely background figures; they are well-developed and have depth. The foreshadowing and personification allow you to easily grasp the characters' emotions. Pearl is witty and driven, while Zane is brooding and reserved. You'll enjoy following them on their unique individual journeys.
Note: I did read this as a standalone!. I had no idea what i was getting myself into going forward with this book as I went in totally blind!. It was absolutely worth it 👌. What i would give to read this for the first time again. The plot characters and the dark twisted side of this was so well written that I absolutely couldn't put this down!. If you haven't give this a shot, you definitely will not be disappointed!.
This is book 6 in series but can read as a standalone.
Ma’am !!! What have you done to me !
I need to find me a Zane ! Like omg! I loved how Zane just moved in on Pearl and Pearl with her competitive personality from the beginning loved it. I was excited because my name is in your book, I was screaming like omg! MY NAME lol… The Sight of Obsession is an AMAZING read I am thinking of rereading it already. If you like possessive MMC, bdsm, competitive fmc, stalking then this book is for YOU !
⭐BDSM ⭐Hidden Identity ⭐Stalker ⭐Touch Her and D!e ⭐Billionaire
Pearl and Zane were two characters that pull you in with their intense dynamic. I enjoyed the push and pull between the two of them and how they evolved over the course of the book. Kathleen does an amazing job of creating characters that challenge your thinking and leave you questioning everything. An amazing standalone read but would recommend reading the rest in the series!
I absolutely loved this book. I will say that Ive read books where the miC's are possessive and obsessive of the FMC's, But not like this. Tave is something else. He took it to a whole other level. And I loved it all. Its different, but a good different. Goo and the spicy scenes are (chef's kisses)!!!
LOVED THIS BOOK! The character development is top notch. I genuinely grew attached and invested in each character’s storyline and loved each and every one of them. The shock elements had me reeling and the ending was divine. I will absolutely be picking up more books by this author.
I absolutely loved the story and the characters. A heart warming tale of two people overcoming their pasts to welcome a future neither thought they deserved.
Zane/Nym/Jaguar, each name served a purpose of secrecy. When Pearl meets her stalker he turns her world upside down and opens up a world she never knew she was missing or wanted. Her tough and competitive spirit only made her stalker want her more. Although I didn't want to like her stalker, she showed eventually showed her there was more to life than she was living. Lots secrets that are hidden will be revealed for each of them when you least expect it!
Kathleen simply doesn’t write romances. The Sight of Obsession is a compelling dive into the depths of human desire and control. It masterfully balances the delicate dance between psychological tension and raw emotion.
The story introduces us to two flawed yet deeply magnetic characters whose collision sparks a tumultuous battle of wills. The Jaguar, who also goes by his multiple aliases, is a commanding figure, exuding danger and allure, while Pearl is a fiery force of resilience, determined not to succumb to his control. Their dynamic is the heartbeat of the novel, and it pulses with intensity, driving the reader to flip each page with bated breath.
One of the book’s strongest aspects is its exploration of power dynamics. Rather than offering a straightforward captor-victim narrative, it delves into the complexities of mutual obsession and the ways past trauma shapes both characters. Pearl’s fight to reclaim agency and Jaguar’s internal struggle with his own demons create a layered, thought-provoking conflict that lingers long after the final chapter.
This book walks the line between passion and pain. You, the reader may feel compelled to do an introspection. But if you’re ready to delve into a story that challenges and enthralls, The Sight of Obsession is worth the journey.
For the lovers of stalker romances, BDSM, and endings that leave you sobbing.
Thanks to the author for the arc for review! Just like the others in this series, loved this one so much! Great setting & beautifully written characters. This author's writing gets better & better.
It’s no secret that I love Kathleen’s book – she was my second most read author in 2024. But, this book? Oh my goddess, how I adored it! What is it about masked men, stalking, kidnapping, and cages that hits me just in the right spot? And, though I generally don’t enjoy kids in my books, I do loveee breeding! And this book has it and it’s fucking hot.
I love the exploration of the power dynamic between Zane and Pearl. It’s such a pleasure to observe them learning that give and take goes both ways, and that it doesn’t mean you’re losing a part of yourself. She is strong-willed and has a deep need to win at everything. He is controlling and trusts no one. As their relationship progresses, they find the strength together to delve into past trauma and overcome them.
I can not adequately express how hot this book is. In fact, being the sixth book in the series, I thought it might start getting dry like some series do. Quite the opposite here! Each one is hotter than the next, curling my toes and giving me hot flashes. Please, I beg, read these books! You won’t regret it. In fact, start with this one as it can be read as a stand-alone. You can thank me later!
This my first read by Kathleen Haley and now I want to read this series from the beginning! This dark romance is filled with so many twist and turns that makes it hard to put the book down. I lowkey went into this ARC blind only having read some of the tropes and it didn't disappoint one bit. Pearl was such a strong spirited character and the spice and dominance from Zane had me melting!! Definitely a must read.
🚨ATTENTION!🚨I said this once before but have to correct myself: I have a new favorite book by Kathleen Haley and THIS👏🏽 IS👏🏽 IT👏🏽! Kathleen has me in a hand necklace with The Senses Series and I am utterly enthralled by these delicious, dark men she brings to life. I can ALWAYS count on Kathleen to immerse me into her world and I don’t ever want to leave. THE HOLD ZANE HAS ON ME. Y’ALL. Zane is going to be living rent free in my head forever and I never want him to leave!
If I could give Kathleen more than 5⭐ for this one, I would!
Pearl is on the precipice of landing her dream job thanks to her competitive edge and dedication to her goals to the point of obsession. Little does she know that she has attracted the attention of the Jaguar–the man in the jaguar mask wearing black gloves, with a presence that demands attention. That’s all she knows about the man who is watching her every move and wants to commandeer her life to make her his property…and no one owns or orders Pearl around…or so she thinks 🤭
Once in the Jaguar’s clutches, everything Pearl thought she knew about herself shifts. When forced to confront her past and her insecurities, she realizes that her new master is giving her everything she has always wanted: to be seen. The Jaguar is determined to break her so he can rebuild her to his liking, but will Pearl get redemption for herself in the process?
When the Jaguar is hunting his prey, he never falters. Whether it be career goals, avenging loved ones, or helping save the world, the Jaguar doesn’t fail. So, when his sights land on his newest obsession, he will stop at nothing to have her enchained to him.
But, Pearl catches the Jaguar off guard and he’s forced to face his own demons while trying to guard his heart…
OH. MY. GOODNESS.
The Jaguar aka Zane is the tortured hero, alphahole, demigod you might hate to love, but end up being an absolute puddle on the floor for because all of the flying 🚩🚩🚩 don’t matter. All of the questionable behavior and tactics turn into green flags when you get his backstory and see inside his mind, while simultaneously getting to know Pearl and watching their dynamic unfold. Zane has this idea of a social hierarchy and he doesn’t let people get close or view them as equals, but he meets his match in Pearl. Pearl has so much FIRE in her veins, that she is the ONLY WOMAN who can hold a candle to Zane and go toe to toe with him without getting truly burned. Pearl and Zane’s absolutely scorching chemistry is complete perfection…the air crackles, just ready to spark a flame! The exchanges between Zane and Pearl show how scary intelligent both individuals are, and when they verbally spar, their quick wit and quips keep you on the edge of your seat. Underneath the less than conventional start of their relationship, both Pearl and Zane have traumas they need to work through, and they end up being able to do that because of their connection. Pearl and Zane push one another and unapologetically go after what they want, which is the best version of each other. Their mental, emotional, and physical compatibility is through the roof…and don’t even get me started on the brëëdıng k!nk 🫠🫠🫠
Dark romance lovers, do NOT overlook this series! These are interconnected standalones (other characters make appearances as you read) and each book gets better and better. You will not regret going on this journey!
** Thank you so much to the author for the ARC in exhange for a review **
“The Sight of Obsession” is a spicy dark romance with a lot of moments but the main focus are the very intense characters, especially Nym. Nym’s life revolves around finding out who killed his sister, and fighting for a more environmentally friendly world but the bane of his existence is Pearl. She is the sister of the business man Nym has to work with and once he sets eyes on her, he cannot forget her.
Pearl works for a publisher and she is on a mission to convince an author to join her company. Unfortunately, Pearl is also very competitive and when a chasing goes wrong, Pearl begins to spiral. Worried about her safety, Nym abducts her and tries to break her so she’ll become his pet.
Both Nym and Pearl are extremely obsessive with things and hold a darkness within them. Pearl always wants to be the best and win, she stops at nothing to achieve her goals and that makes her win a poor reputation. The manipulations and degradation Nym makes Pearl suffer can be hard for some readers, but those are the best parts of the book. They are intense and an absolute delight because that’s when Nym allows us to dive into the darkness of his soul with him. Pearl is not an innocent woman, just like Nym is also not an angel, even though he fights for something good in the world. Together, their relationship is explosive and both don’t want to give in to their feelings, even though they both become obsessed with each other.
The best part of the book are the characters, but especially Nym. He’s very dominant and has a lot of issues from his past, but that’s what makes him interesting. We witness a powerful man with an enormous ego being weak for a woman. He lives and breathes for Pearl and he helps her overcome her fear for her competitiveness and protects her from those who mean her harm.
Even though this is the 6th novel from the series, readers can enjoy it as a standalone, although common themes such as BD$M, billionaires MMC, and spiciness run through all of them.
“The Sight of Obsession” was a great introduction to Kathleen Haley. I’m happy we are venturing into the world of BD$M in different aspects, and Nym definitely holds bondage as something dark and his way of dealing with all his past trauma. While the book is heavy on the spice, it also has some side plot about the death of Nym’s sister and the entire plot around Pearl’s publisher. So while not entirely smut, the strongest part of the book it’s definitely the darkest of its characters.
This book is a standalone but characters from previous books in this world do appear. So if you read them all you will know who the people are already but it isn't necessary. I love each of these books and the cameos are always fun. Kathleen is really good at connecting everyone in unique ways. Her characters all have their faults and are forced to face themselves and ithers in ways that will change them. The changes are always big but are done in ways that are believable.
I really enjoyed this book and especially how much the characters grew throughout the story. While it is filled with secrets, lies, guilt, possession, and fear it also shows how important friendship and relationships are.
Pearl is a junior publicist for Tidal Wave Press. She is super competitive in everything she does. However, that competitive spirit has left people around her injured and she blames herself for everyone of them. Pearl must learn that she isn't always in control and she will not always win.
Nym used to gather intelligence for the British defense. He is always observant. However, he has had instances where people have been injured or killed due to a action he did or didn't take and that eats at him. One such incident has left him closed off to love. He only offers Master/slave relationships to women.
Zane is the man who just wants to heal the planet. He is a brilliant scientist and has created something to counter what people have done to the planet. He doesn't want to be known for what he does and never seeks to be in the spotlight. He doesn't trust people because they are selfish. He is also still grieving the loss of his sister and it has made him seek out answers.
When Pearl meets a masked man she is intrigued by him. This man will become her stalker and her master but can he give in and become hers too? This moment will irrevocably change these characters. Though it takes plenty of ups and downs along the way. Healing requires time and acceptance
Oh my handsome jaguar...how you fill me with a desire I didn't know I needed. Kathleen has outdone herself yet again. With each book in the series you just never know who or what you are going to get.
The Jaguar, Nym, Zane...this man has many names but only one desire and that is to make Pearl his and only his. Can you say he is obsessed...oh yes! Can you say he has a past that makes him an alphahole...he most certainly does! Will he make Pearl is little pet...oh he does in more ways than one. However, Zane's past gives him trust issues and to protect his heart he never falls in love with his pets but will this change with Pearl?
Pearl just wants to be her best at the publishing company she works for. She is competitive and knows what she wants and gets it. Unfortunately, her past has given her the complex that people get hurt because of her competitiveness. When she meets Zane she has no idea how her life will change. I mean their relationship starts with him kidnapping her and a Master/Slave relationship starts.
Unknown to both Zane and Pearl there are powers beyond their control holding them back in their own ways. Will these powers keep them from having the happily ever after they deserve and with each other? Can Zane's trust in Pearl outweigh all the obstacles each has to encountered throughout their lives.
I know this will be an unpopular opinion but Zane has some redeeming qualities that doesn't make him the Alphahole most might see him as. I feel Pearl is his savior and you can see that early on in the book. Does Zane do things that make you want to smack him...of course, but his alternative motive in the end shows you the softer side of him.
ps...some of my favorite characters in the Senses Series show up in this book and it makes my heart sing. If you want a good series to read this is the one and you will thank me later.
Quick Summary: This book follows Pearl and Zane in this spicy and intoxicating story as they battle each other with domination and explore what their relationship looks like.
This story was SPICY!!! It did not disappoint and I love the story. I found Zane and Pearl's relationship addicting and was pulling for them throughout the book. I love how their love grew with the story and how they developed with each other. Zane and Pearl are both stubborn, competitive, and strong-headed characters, but they work sooooo well together. I love the respect they have for each other and how they make each other stronger together. Kathleen did a wonderful job with that balance of plot vs. spice. The spice was good and added to the plot. I enjoyed how the plot was something different and how Zane is such a refreshing character he seems like the villain but he only cares about the good of the planet. His background was my favorite part of the story because of how much he overcame to be with Pearl. Pearl on the other hand, I really enjoyed her finding out more about who she was and how her childhood impacted her competitiveness. They both challenged each other and through that challenge, they were able to bring forth sides of each other they never knew about themselves.
Overall, I enjoyed this book so much and I highly recommend it to those who are a fan of dark romance, secret identity, stalker, touch her and die, and kidnapping. This is the book for you!
Thank you to Kathleen Haley for an eARC in exchange for an honest review!
