Great

This was a really good book. I enjoyed this story from the novella to this book. I'm so glad that this book recommended that I go back and read the novella first. It brought everything full circle. Y'all just read the damn book.

It’s something about hearing them speak in that Geechee dialect…I love it. Mel did it again with another hilarious book. I’m glad that Porsche got that good karma.

3.5 stars. Started off 2025 finishing with the second book in the F.A.N. series by Mel Dau. This was a fun read! I loved that Asher stepped up automatically when it came to his son and even though Katniss was hardheaded, she finally let her guard down and let that man love on her plus her son. Daisy and Zane were also fun to read as well, it's one of the reasons why I don't do FWB anymore cuz I'm a lover girl lol I do hope that we get some type of novella or a short with Tiara and Jonthan because I felt like he was just thrown in the book. Overall, it was a great story, however it did feel a little rushed.

3.75 ⭐️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ football romance ✅found family✅ hidden pregnancy✅Love at first sight ✅ so I really do not like the hidden pregnancy trope and if you read the prequel, you will understand the dynamic between the main couple which is Asher and Cat. I just really don’t understand why neither couple had open communication because all of the nonsense and drama was because they didn’t communicate. I like the dynamic between the parents and the children, and how each set of parents adopted all of the children as their own as well as the best friends.

A fanatical set of love stories with a lot of sexual acts inside a fairly good storyline.

I died and came back from laughter several times. Humor and chaos with an HEA. I've been reading too many dark stories, so I needed that break. Thanks, Mel Dau.

This didn’t build on the incomplete story we got in *FAN*. While it gave us a conclusion, the growth was missing. None of the characters showed more than we’d already seen. Asher and Katniss lacked an emotional connection beyond sexual chemistry, and their communication felt weak. We needed more on-page one-on-one moments to make their relationship feel like something more than just good sex and a baby.

Katniss’s actions didn’t add up—she had a supportive family and Asher’s clear backing but still acted like she had no options or like she was destitute. If her goal was to protect her son, why deprive him of an active father? Her reasoning just wasn’t explained enough to make sense. Every chance she got to choose the right thing she dang near tried to do the opposite.

Zane and Daisy’s story was interesting but felt out of place here, especially with so much left unresolved with Katniss. This had potential, but it didn’t deliver the emotional depth or clarity it needed. I also know a story ain’t slap too hard if I can’t remember the dang FMC name, I had to go back and get it from the summary lmao cus she just didn’t stand out to me as anything other than a dummy.

Okay, so the cover completely makes sense to me now. It's Zane, not Asher!

After that wild night with his biggest fan, I came here looking for more Asher and Katniss. Asher is country and hilarious without even trying, and I wanted more of that. Being Asher Kane's baby, momma came with some obstacles, but these two and their family support system were up for the task.

Zane and Daisy, however, were on a mission of their own. Both are scared of getting played and too stubborn to take a chance. It was almost curtain call by the time they got their act together, and by then, the book ended, fast-forwarding to post-nuptials. TF!?! 🤯

All their relationship knew was struggle or sex marathons. I would have loved to see them "happy" for more than one date. We barely got that. There were more than a few missed opportunities with this couple. 😔 Maybe next book? 🤔

The energy could have just stayed on Asher and Katniss. These two were so busy stamping out fires and females that we really didn't get to enjoy what we originally fell in love with them for.

So special

I enjoyed this conclusion to Asher and Katniss's story because lord knows I was upset about the previous cliffhanger. It was good to see them get to experience true love together and find their happily ever after. I also enjoyed getting the story on Zane and Daisy and a snippet of the story on Tiara and her boo Jonathan.

This story was filled with plenty mess and it kept me laughing. My favorite character might have been Mama Lina because she was a live one and said whatever she felt like saying. I loved the friendship and support with this crew and their families. I also loved the protectiveness of the men for their ladies.

There were plenty of shenanigans between Zane and Daisy with their back and forth. Kat and Asher also had a bit of back and forth too and both men said whatever came to mind as well.

If you liked the previous story on Kat and Asher, then you will likely like this follow up on them as well. 3.5/5 stars

I loved everything about this book. I scooped it up because I needed to know what happened with Kat and Asher but Daisey and Zane almost...well maybe they did steal the show. This book had all the things humor, love, lust, BDE, supportive family--you all the thigs that give us the feels and authors a 5 star rating. I did not agree with Kat refusing to tell Asher immediately but I loved the way he and his family responded once they found out. Kat's dad and Ms. Lina said what needed to be said but didn't preach. Daisey was a mess and the kind of friend that everyone needs. I think she and Zane had more chemistry than Asher and Kat.
Additionally, what I appreciated the most about this read was the fact that Zane's sorry excuse for a mother got everything she deserved times two!

While you don't have to read Naughty FAN first, you may as well treat yourself and do so! This was a top notch read to begin 2025!💋🤌🏾

Once again, Mel did her thing and delivered a story that had me hooked from beginning to end. I really enjoyed this book. It had just the right kind of drama, the kind that gets resolved quickly and satisfyingly, which is exactly what I love.

My only small wish was that I could’ve gotten a bit more from Asher and Katniss. I liked Zane and Daisy a lot too, but personally, I enjoy when each couple has their own separate book so we can really dive into their journey and spend more time with them.

That said, the story was still really good and kept me engaged the whole time. The spice was definitely spicy… Honestly, it was a trifecta of spice. It brought heat, tension, and fun in all the right ways.

You should definitely read Naughty F.A.N. first if you want the full experience, but this book does a great job of filling in the important details, so you could still enjoy it as a standalone.

Mel Dau did it again with So Special: Fanatic Love—she introduced me to those Geechie men, and listen… I LOVED it. The story had me hooked from the start, and I’m already over here like, I need more of some geechie culture!

So many lines stuck with me, but when Zane said, “I am somebody’s son” 🫶🏽—yeah, that one hit me deep. The vulnerability, the loyalty, the realness—I felt it all.

This was a quick, addictive read that brings you right into the heart of Black Southern culture, with language and dialogue that’s authentic, raw, and unapologetically not meant to be “proper.” That’s exactly what makes it special—it’s real.

🖤 Tropes you’ll love:

Instant love
Touch her you die
Alpha Male with a Soft Spot
Black Love with Cultural Depth

If you’re looking for something with heart, grit, and culture, this one’s for you. Trust me, the Geechie men will leave you wanting more.

Family Is Not Always Blood

I loved everything about this book!!!…It was the moments of laughter and the emotional moments btwn these couples!!!…I loved the support and protection that came with being friends and family amongst this circle!!!…
Zane’s story was difficult, but one of triumph and a village that loved, supported and protected him!!!…His mother was far from stellar and Karma definitely came knocking for her in the worse way!!!…
I love how Kat’s parents loved and respected her, but held her accountable for decisions she made!!!…
Penny had my blood boiling with her behavior and her attitude as if she was not attached to another man!!!…
I was happy all the ladies connected with men that loved them and seen their value!!!…

Secret Baby!!

This book is a continuation of the book, Naughty F.A.N., and it was so enjoyable to read. Asher and Katniss were delightful along with with Zane and Daisy as well as the rest of the family members. They had me cracking up with some of the antics that they got into. Asher's mother, Lina, was especially the one who kept me in stitches. I loved how Asher was so in love with Katniss and his son, Ashtan. I also loved how the whole family didn't play about each other. I didn't feel sorry for Penny, Porscha, Charia and Mason. All of them got what they richly deserved. As always, this author gave us a great book to devour!! I love a good secret baby story and I was very happy with this one.

loved it!

The follow up of Naughty F.A.N, was everything I expected from Mel Dau and so much more!!

From one night stand to surprise baby to co parenting to falling in love with each other, that’s the path Asher and Katniss took, even though he knew she was the one from the first night. The drama that tried to break this couple up, had me ready to fight but neither one of them or their families played about them.

It was so cute following their best friends fall for each other and accepting that it was someone out there to love them and not play games. Daisy and Zane’s relationship was crazy from the beginning but once all the insecurities were healed and drama was handled they made a cute couple.

This book needs to be on everyone’s TBR!!

when I tell you this was definitely a great start to my new year. I came for Katniss and Asher story, got that and Zane and Daisy but def can say I stayed for mama Lina. She did not play bout her babies and was ready to dead a hoe bout hers. I loved it. Daisy is literally my fave character, I def understood her and her perspective on things. she was also such a comedian. The shit with the delulu birds was handles swiftly, especially Zane trifling ass mama. I just thoroughly enjoyed that Katniss got her man, Daisy got her man, shit even Tiara got her a FBI man. This is def a fun time and I highly recommend.

Awesome Read

Katniss and Asher were destined to be together. Asher remembered exactly when Ashtan was conceived, but Katniss was clueless. They become the perfect parents, and eventually a couple. Zane and Daisy were so indecisive! They were driving everyone around them crazy. To have the families so close and happy was great for everyone. Ms. Lina played no games about her family. She stayed ready. As well as Kat, Daisy, and Tiara. Penny was a certified stalker that just didn't get the picture, as well as Mason. It was beautiful that everyone found happiness. I hope that we get to read more about Zane and Daisy or Tiara and Johnathan. This was an awesome read!

I love a good football romance and this one did NOT disappoint!! 🏈🔥
From start to finish, I was totally hooked. It was funny, it was light, and oh my gosh—it was STEAMY in all the best ways. The chemistry between the characters? Perfection. 😍

I seriously adored the main couple (and even the side characters were great too!). There were moments that had me laughing out loud and others that had me fanning myself. 😂🔥

If you're looking for a fun, feel-good romance with just the right amount of spice and football vibes, add this to your TBR immediately.
Absolutely fantastic read—I didn’t want it to end!

💞 Book Review: So Special by Mel Dau

I absolutely loved this story—it had me laughing from start to finish! Mel Dau knows how to mix humor, heart, and just the right amount of attitude. The dialogue felt real, the characters were entertaining, and the chemistry kept me grinning the whole way through.

It’s the kind of story that reminds you love can be fun and unpredictable, and that sometimes the best moments come with a side of laughter. A perfect quick read that gave me all the good vibes I needed.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Complete

This was like 2 1/2 stories in one with the addition of Zane and Daisy's points of view and Tiara and her new boo stepping on the scene, too. There was a little of a lot in this one, but in the authors true fashion, she gave information, steam, and drama. The geechie dialog wasn't my favorite, even with her disclaimer, it still made me want to to skip those parts. Overall though, I enjoyed seeing these characters come together and overcome the variety of life's challenges together.

I really enjoyed this book! Though the dialect drive me crazy, I still enjoyed it. I’m so happy Asher wasn’t some thugged out, King pin in the low dude. I enjoy that he was a strait laced football player, yeah he looked like he could lay somebody down, he just wasn’t over the top with it. Katniss got on my nerves sometimes, she came off a little slow, like zero street sense. Daisy was a little too much but since Katniss wasn’t it worked. I loved how genuine it felt when they reconnected. Zane was hilarious, there were parts where I literally laughed out loud. Definitely a good read!
