Do you remember watching Sweet November?

The way Sarah wanted to live her life as though every moment were her last?

The way Nelson couldn't bear to see her fade?

So let's just suppose we have this young woman. Ellery. Who has experienced more pain that should be allowed for a 23-year-old person. To whom fate keeps shoving even more dirt. Which thankfully she can take. Because she met this man. Connor. Whose emotional vulnerability has been locked down a long time now. Who seems detached from feeling, sensing, trully living due to something that scarred his past and him along with it.

But she breaks through to him and he's able to learn from her..

“Infinity is forever, and that is what you are to me, you are my forever Mr. Black.”
He kissed my lips, “There's no limit to what I wouldn't do for you. Just ask and it will be done, no matter the sacrifice.”

The path is not easy. No person that has to deal with this kind of faith and strength tests can do so without that support. Confrontations are inevitable, and thankfully the drama was not pushed over the top but instead, it was kept to the reality and seriousness of the situation.

I laughed, “I’m already sick, what’s the difference?”
He stared down at me with a strange look on his face and did something I never thought Connor Black would do. He laid down beside me and looked up at the sky. I looked over at him as he struggled to keep his eyes open as the rain pelted him in the face; a small smile crossed my lips.
“Why are you doing this?” he asked as he turned and looked at me.
“Cause I can lay here and no one will know I’m crying.”

And in the end of the day, they are each other's rock. They ground and heal each other. And that's exactly what they did.

He softly took a hold of both my wrists and looked at them, rubbing the tattoos lightly. I saw the
anguish in his eyes.
“I noticed these at the hospital when you were receiving chemo. I’ve been waiting for you to show me; why Ellery?” He asked.
I rolled over as the morphine settled through my body and I was able to step out of bed and slowly walked over to the window. “Because at some point you have to realize that some people can stay in your heart, but not in your life, and this is my way of keeping you in my heart.”

“I was simply a man with no meaning until I met you and I’m proud of whom I’ve become because of you. We have been through a lot together and we will
continue to go through a lot, but we’ll conquer whatever life throws our way. I want to thank you for being my best friend and my lover.”
Suddenly he got down on one knee and pulled a small velvet box from his pocket. The tears wouldn’t stop flowing down my face. “I want to be more than just
your lover, I want to be your happily ever after, your best friend, your husband and I want you for my wife; will you marry me Ellery Lane?”

“I could never understand my purpose in this world. I have had nothing but pain and loss my whole life. But now I know why god saved me the first time. It was
so I could find you. Then he saved me the second time so I could love you forever. This house is perfect; you are perfect and no one will ever take that away from us.
Our love is infinite and I’m going to spend the rest of my life showing you.”

“She’s like her beautiful mother and she’s going to be a fighter. I can’t wait to see her and hold her in my arms,” he whispered.
I smiled as I interlaced our fingers, “I can’t either. She’s the reason god saved me a third time. She’s our little miracle.”

It always saddens me when I have the privilege of an ARC of a much anticipated release from a debut author. I really, really wanted to love this but sadly, it just didn't work for me.

The story is great although I did have a hard time understanding the character's motivations even when it was explained to me but I struggled with the writing style, especially the lack of contractions which made the narrative kind of stilted for me which stopped me fully connecting and there's also a distinct lack of punctuation. I also found the misuse of the word 'to' instead of 'too' really difficult to cope with.

I know this will work for some - I'm just so very sorry that it really didn't work for me.

Let me start off by saying that I really enjoyed this story. I liked how Connor and Ellery met and I just plain liked how Ellery did her own thing and didn't bow down to anyone.

That being said, there is a lot going on in and maybe even a bit too much. Also, while usually spelling and grammar don't usually bother me, I had a hard time with a few things in this book. 'To' versus 'too' and the lack of contractions interrupted the flow of the story for me but in no way would I consider DNF'ing.

Ellery was refreshing and surprising because at first, I thought she was just going to be another needy girl. She had been with her boyfriend for four years and not really been on her own, so she was upset when they broke up but I'm glad she snapped out of it. I loved all the interactions with Connor while they were 'friends'. How she made him eat a hot dog and pizza with his fingers and eat ice cream!! How she didn't let him order her around.

Connor started off as a jerk....well, he has a few other jerk-worthy moments but then you get to know him and understand why. I liked that Ellery brought out another side of him and I loved that he was there for Ellery even when she said she didn't want him to be.

Ellery and Connor were great together but boy, could they fight! Like Denny said, they are both really stubborn! It was hard because instead of talking things out, they would take off. Connor is used to getting his way but he has also had some things happen to him that has caused him to close himself off. Ellery has had a rough life and it's caused her to not allow other people to treat her badly. It leads to some interesting moments and maybe some that were a little over the top.

There is a lot of drama. Both Connor and Ellery have things and people in their pasts that they haven't been honest about. It was really great seeing them try to work things out.

description

I loved Peyton....she was a really great best friend to Ellery. I liked how she would help set things straight with Ellery and like she said, that's what best friends are for.

The paintings that Ellery did added a special touch to the story especially a certain one that was included in the epilogue. I was a surprised that she wasn't upset at what happened with the first three paintings.

description

The epilogue made me really happy. It was a win-win-win. I found out that SL is writing the next book and it will be Connor's POV...I can't wait!!

♥ “Infinity is forever, and that is what you are to me, you are my forever Mr. Black.”

Oh I so WANTED to like this book. That being said, I didn’t, I couldn’t. And yet I couldn’t stop reading it…it was like watching a car crash, I just couldn’t look away.

The first third of the book, I spent half of my time being jarred out of the story by the strange lack of contractions. The book is written in first person POV and even the inner dialogue was strangely bereft of contractions. How many people sound so utterly formal all the time, not only when speaking, but also when thinking?

Speaking of POV, the entire book is from Ellery’s POV, except for one strange, short chapter written from Connor’s POV. We learn nothing about his motivations or his inner self and it seems to serve no purpose in the story arc.

Every time they have a fight it turns into the sacking of Carthage, including the razing of the city and the salting of the earth. No small disagreements, just global thermonuclear war followed by one or both of them leaving. And then with very little growth or development, magically they get back together and are having sex.

And speaking of the sex, this was a very un-erotic book of erotica. The following excerpts are from a single two-page section:

He gently inserted his finger in me and feeling the wetness before inserting another. I gasped at the pleasure and arched my back for him to go deeper. His tongue ran circles around my swollen area forcing me to release my pleasure to him

********

He sat up and moved fluently in and out of me. He reached his hands around and grabbed my breasts, squeezing them and pinching each nipple before moving his hand down and rubbing my aching spot.

(That’s right people, he moved fluently in and out of her.) All their sex scenes are like this - short, barely descriptive and supremely UN-sexy. And you can also see the profound lack of good comma usage. I would rather have too many commas than the extreme dearth of commas that this book presents to the reader. I found myself having to read sentences several times in order to get the right meaning.

I think the author might also be unaware of the use of the apostrophe in order to show possession - instead of Connor's plane, it is Connors plane; instead of Connor's penthouse, it is Connors penthouse...I don't know if I saw a single correctly used apostrophe to show possession in the entire book.

I gave this 1 ½ star because the storyline had promise, and I did finish the book. I am unbelievably happy that I borrowed this book and didn’t spend any money on it.

Elle was FIESTY, strong, wonderful, oh so bloody stubborn, free sprited, beautiful and wonderful.

I enjoyed this book, It had A LOT OF DRAMA. It had a nice flow. The side characters were amazing.
I totally loved Elle's fiesty nature, it was refreshing.. especially when she gave it back to the whores who openly drooled over Conner. hehe
Peyton was amazing, an amazing best friend.. :)

Conner and Ellery was simply ment to be, totally amazing and beautiful.

This would have totally been a 5 star read for me, but somethings about this book was off, hence the 4 stars!
1. Some parts about this book which were I think intended to make us cry, didn't make me, like the emotional level of this book should have been higher according to me..
2. At times the pace was weird, but it was cool.. the book overall rocked.
3.He wasn't emotionally dead and damaged as promised in the summary :P > Like a certain event of his past was bad, but not to the point to make him emotionally dead.

*Spoiler Alert*
Oh I loved the first few chapters of this book and thought I had finally found my BOOK OF THE MONTH (February) but it turned out to be a real disappointment. I'm really sad to say that, but I'd be lying if I said any differently. I'm not even going to mention the editing/writing issues. I was really disappointed in it being so CLICHÉ and the amount of death, suicide and DEAD people contained in this story.
A famous writer once said that if you are writing a ROMANCE and you feel the need to 'kill' MORE than 4 people for the sake of the plot, you are doing it WRONG. Well, we have 6 or 7 'dead' people if you don't include the ALMOST dead heroine. Why would you need 7 dead people and two pairs of Twins? Yup, same here. No clue.
I found CONNOR a really interesting character, it's plain to see that if his character had been more developed and more focused on his RELATIONSHIP with Ellie (rather than in her HEALTH CONDITION) this story would have been much, WAY more interesting. But, unfortunately, the focus was the HEALTH CONDITION. A total bummer.
Ellie started witty and fun, ended up egotistical and whiny.
I don't mean to sound heartless, I think her condition was very sad and I am sure lots of people will relate to her 'state', but I still don't understand why SO MUCH drama. (Isn't one character on deathbed enough?). Geez...
Anyways, I could go on and on here but I know lots of better REVIEWS are being written by MUCH BETTER REVIEWERS about the same 'issues' so I rather stop here.
Of course It had a few good moments, but from 75% on I just wanted this story to end...
Will I read other books from this author, Why not? I just hope the next books have fewer dead people and more LOVE and focus on the characters and their relationship.

I know I am in the minority here but this did not do it for me at all. First off, I found the writing a bit stilted... there was no flow to it - some of the sentences had words like "do not" instead of "don't" . This may seem like nit-picking but if I am paying for a books I am expecting something. There seemed to be too much going on here. Maybe I have had my fill of billionaires, taking charge, younger woman who is less well off than the hero. Yep, think my days of YA and NA books are over. although some might argue that this is not necessarily a NA book but I am 47 and if the heroine is only in early twenties that is NA for me. The heroine was just too emotional, going from one extreme to the other - OK, she had a lot to be emotional about. And the Aunt and her proclamations. Sorry - hate to put a downer on a first time author but I feel I have to give an honest opinion. I think sometimes I am too caught up in all the five stars some books get and feel I HAVE TO read them.

This was an ok read for me.

I liked a lot about Ellery. She was spunky and sarcastic and didn't let anyone push her around. I liked Connor too, most of the time, but I never felt like we actually got to know him. I liked how their relationship started. I enjoyed
that they were friends first. I didn't understand Ellery managing to fall in love with Connor when she knew basically zero about him (since he basically shared zero about himself with her until much later in the book)

I saw the twist coming. I was seriously irritated with Connor's reaction. He did a couple of things, usually when they were fighting, that just ticked me off. Maybe if I felt like I knew him better, it wouldn't have bothered me so much, but it did.

I hated the way they fought. When something happened, it was a huge explosion, and they both went for the jugular. I was particularly unexcited the time he called her a bitch and a slut. It drove me insane that she always ran away when things got tough (and I hated that he let her sometimes). They just seemed really really dysfunctional. Now, this would not have bothered me so much, except it is never resolved, After each dramatic blowup, they come back together, but nothing is ever discussed or resolved - so not shockingly, it happens again (and again).

This is why I couldn't even get really excited by the ending. Once again, their issues are never really addressed, and we should just be happy with the (rushed) HEA.

Oh, and one other thing

Overall, ok.

This is a really horrible book. Bad writing - the author does not know the difference between "to" and "too". It had stilted dialogue which attempted to be proper but just seemed unnatural. It manipulates the reader, and honest to God I find it disgusting the author just uses shit like this as a plot device without handling it wth sensitivity:

The heroine's mother had cancer and died when she was a kid. The heroine had cancer at 16. The heroine attempted suicide by slashing her wrists to prevent her father the pain from having to her die from cancer (cause suicide is somehow better right?). She got the treatment, got better, but dun dun dun, her alcoholic daddy who ignored her after her mother died because he was so in love with her died too when she was 18. Shes 23 and volunteers in the soup kitchen for the homeless, has a bucket list of things she wants to do because she embraces life, and hides from everyone that she has cancer again and is refusing treatment. And once she meets the hero, her surrogate parents (aunt and uncle) die in a car crash, but she like gets over it; the funeral was actually used as a scene for her to hear people talking about her, she bursts and shows them her wrist scars, and stages a huge attention seeking drama llama scene by not actually mourning their deaths and somehow making it about her.

The author needs to recognise, you can deal with one of these issues and create a brilliant story.

But don't worry, with the exclusion of her new hit reappearing cancer, the heroine vomits her life story to anyone and everyone who will listen: the hero on their first date, his driver, her apartment manager when she plane hops to California and has just met the guy for barely five minutes.

On the night she meets the hero, who is smashed and she sees get slapped by a woman, she decides I'm going to take this guy home and "accidentally" falls asleep at his place nvm he could be some rapist and she wants to be a good Samaritan.

The hero is a millionaire (shocker) and finds her when she tells him her name. They forge some weird friendship where she shits out her tragic lifestory and the geezer tells her nothing because you know "privacy" (some people don't tell their live stories after a couple of minutes). He's ha: easy access sexual relationships in the past. She runs away, she comes back, he chases her, he rejects her, she runs away, he insults her, they finish but rekindle. It's a toxic juvenile relationship where they don't discuss anything and are so stupid. She's in the middle of her cancer treatment (like they aren't expecting her tomorrow?) when they have a fight and she plane hops to California because mysteriously she's found a clinical trial to join (its leukaemia - a common cancer; why would they want to accept her? Clinical trials are selective but whatever, we've established the author isn't too smart a cookie). They have fights one minute where he resents her and her cancer and how he can't do his work because he's looking after her, shouts at her insensitively for not telling him, abandons her, randomly reappears, then she sees him with multiple women, he calls HER a slut for the way she dresses, she throws a vase at him (and I can't condone violence just cos she's a woman, that's wrong, if a man did that, "domestic abuse"), she goes from wanting to live happily with him to never wanting to see him again - moving from his penthouse to her box flat to going to another state, then she finds out he had a vasectomy, and plays her woe is me card about how she wouldn't be a good mother anyway and has crap genes etc etc. And THEN she learns he has a dead ex gf who committed suicide at 18 and only recently was he in a contractual relationship actually fucking the twin sister because apparently she manipulated him and he felt he needed to make amends (the woman who slapped him at the club when she first saw him) until recently because the woman wants to be exclusive. And he gets hit on frequently and never shuts it down, just enjoys it and the heroine gets violent with the women, name calls, slut shames and punches them, when your man shouldn't be engaging but you know, this story is dumb so. The epilogue featured a kid and he reversed his vasectomy (when only a couple chapters ago he confided he never wanted kids) and her clinical trial miraculously cured her. I'm done.

I can't even explain anymore but this story is pure bs.

Whew! This one really got to me and I'm glad I had a tissue box handy while reading.

Forever Black again goes "back to the well" and features a multi-millionare hero. Connor is CEO of his own company, sexy as all get out, and has commitment issues. Sound familiar? Well, don't be too quick to judge, as that is where the similarities to so much of what is out there....ends.

I loved so many things about this book. First and foremost, Ellery and Connor are great friends before they become lovers. This slow developing relationship feels natural and "right". They are in some ways very opposite, and Elle teaches Connor a lot about what it means to live. She's an artist and a free spirit compared to Connor's more serious and rule following ways. She challenges him in such fun ways, and watching a man who only uses women for pleasure begin to truly care for a woman gave me all sorts of warm fuzzies. The friendship between these characters was amazing.

This book is a tearjerker. . The complexity and challenges that this relationship face because of this fact sets this book apart from all the rest. The emotions, reactions, and conflict involving Elle's health felt very real to me. I appreciated where both characters were coming from and the resulting internal turmoil they experienced.

Elle and Connor are strong characters. They stand up for themselves and what they believe in. Some reviewers have mentioned that their arguments became bothersome, but for me, their arguments added to the authenticity of the relationship. I believed in this couple.

This is a spicy book with no kink. Connor is straight vanilla with no BDSM tendencies.

The story is told in first person from Elle's viewpoint, except for one chapter that without warning switches to Connor's POV. I have to admit that this was a bit strange. Some may be bothered by the editing, but it wasn't bad enough to affect my enjoyment or my recommendation.

Overall, just a very lovely and believable story of a "meant to be" couple.

4 – 4.5 STARS

I was looking for an emotional romance and a HEA… Well well, that is exactly what I was looking for and got.

I really enjoyed the book. Was a quick read.

When I started, I thought OMG here we go again, a BILLIONAIRE. When I hear that word these days I actually cringe. Possessive / Rude / Sex sex sex (ok that part I never moan about haha)

But this story was actually very good, they didn’t have sex almost until 50% into the book. This book was very emotional. Ellery’s story was very sad and what she had to go through in her 24years. Both had their demons to over come. (I don’t want to give away to much of the story you will have to read the book yourself ☺ hie hie)

The epilogue was sweet and happy that they had a HEA.

FAVOURITE QUOTES / LINES

“What the fuck is this man’s problem. First, he says we are not friends; then he calls me anorexic”

“Don’t be, nothing lasts forever”

“You only live once, make the best of it.”

“Infinity is forever, and that is what you are to me, you are my forever Mr. Black.”

*** 3 Mr. Cocky stars ***

The story starts out with sweet, broken, artist Ellery getting dumped by her boyfriend Kyle. Her bestie, Peyton talks her into a girls night out at a bar and there she meets the HOT, RUDE, BOSSY, COCKY, MILLIONAIRE, (did i mention he's HOT?) Connor Black. Connor doesn't do relationships, girlfriends, flowers etc...well until Elle. I liked this book, but I didn't LOVE it. All 3 stars are for Connor and Connor only. There was no cliffhanger and it ended with a happy ending.

This was beautifully written!
Even though I've seen many similar stories like this one, it still amazed me how Love truly conquers all. 'Beautiful' is not enough to express how AMAZING this story is.

I watched in awe on how Connor Black and Ellery Lane took every step of the way to always be together forever. I loved this book so much that I spend a lot of time sniffing, wiping tears, gushing, swooning, and basically floating for Connor's ability to melt every single women with a pulse.

“Infinity is forever, and that is what you are to me, you are my forever Mr. Black.”

Their constant words for each other is what keeps me from grabbing a tissue because I always end up crying for this stubborn couple who love each other so much. It's a heart-warming story.
“Because at some point you have to realize that some people can stay in your heart, but not in your life, and this is my way of keeping you in my heart.”

I really really enjoyed reading this book and i feel like it helped me to get out of the slump-hole i was stuck in.
And for that i give 2★★

Why?
Because this book has no meaning, it was so cringe-worthy and overromantist (i don't think that is even a word) and i had issues with the characters and their reactions to certain things AND with how much the MC gasps, like she gasps even when the action isn't gasp-worthy
" i knocked on the door and gasped as it opened "
This isn't an actual quote though (thank god for that) but i had to illustrate the statement.
And the main hot dude....He's like Christian Grey but without the Fifty Shades of Grey though....Which technically wouldn't make him Grey...Whatever, i suck at making comparisons.
And he is too perfect for your and my taste so, no dude take your perfectness and rub it in your girlfriend's face.

But still i enjoyed it.....Guess this is my guilty pleasure.

This is my first book by Sandi Lynn. I do not know what to expect from it. Based on many good ratings in Goodreads, I took a dive.

The story is about a young woman, Ellery who, at one night, helped a drunken stranger in the bar. And that stranger is a billionaire Connor Black. They strikes up a friendship and turns into love relationship.
I did not expect that I love these 2 characters interact. Their sweet, sweet humble banter is so.... delicious sweet. Like a tiramisu cake. I smile and cheering for them when they finally get their act together and get their HEA.

I wish that Miss Lynn can hire a better editor. Some of her wording, especially the sexy steamy scene is awkward and stiff. So I can not really feel the depth of their emotional connection in bed.

Overal I like this book. I will read another book by this author.

4 Infinity stars.

WTF. Not only he calls her a slut based on what she is wearing when he himself is a huge fucking manwhore, he also says this-

His angry eyes turned to me, “I have no right? What the fuck do you think you were doing in there, trying to get yourself raped? Look at you and the way you’re dressed, you’re just asking for it.”

WTF!?Talk about directly promoting rape culture. YUCK. EWWW. Ughh I really can't express my disgust enough at this piece of crap. I didn't realise we were back in 16th century. Even historical romances aren't this bad.

The so called hero says this like 75 ish% into the book to the women he is meant to love. So the author is trying to tell that when a women wearing revealing clothes gets raped, its completely her fault? How is this even acceptable? So the length of our dress = availability and willingness for sex with any random guy at any random place? You know what indicates willingness to have sex- the words "yes" or "no". It's that simple.

3.5 stars
I enjoyed this book. I was torn between 3 and 4 stars... Loved the beginning and how Connor and Elle met but was kinda disappointed on how they spoke to eachother towards the end. Looking forward to reading what happens next. So many questions left unanswered.

I’m gonna have to give this one 3.5 stars. An emotional and enjoyable read for me.

Meet Mr. Connor Black

“What’s to tell, I’m a 30 year old CEO, I have more money than I will ever need; I don not do relationships; I usually get everything I want, and I do whatever I want.”

and Ellery Lane

‘Nothing lasts forever.’

The way Elle and Connor met was a little unconventional. Elle’s boyfriend of four years had just left her, so her best friend Peyton dragged her out to a club. She see’s Connor there, and he is falling down, stumbling, completely shit faced. She decides to be a good samaritan and take him home. She gets a cab and goes to settle him in his fantastic home. Connor didn’t really know what was going on or why Elle was there... he thought it was for a much different reason.
“You are a beautiful woman and I am going to fuck you really hard.”
Okay, that part had me cracking up. Elle and Connor become friends. They start to develop feelings for each other, but Connor is the typical rich, dominate, I don’t do relationship types. But he has never felt like this with anyone else.
“You are different Ellery, and you scare me. You make me feel things I never have before. You’re all I think about day and night. I feel empty inside when you’re not around.”

Their relationship has drama. Lots and lots of drama. Elle has a secret. When Connor finally finds out, he kind of freaks. But he makes it up to her. They fight a lot and make up a lot, they just have those types of personalities.
“You two are the most stubborn people on the face of this earth and you couldn’t be more perfect for each other.”
Eventually, they get it together though. I enjoyed the ending, even though it was a little rushed, it was sweet.

Will I ever get sick of reading about dominate, rich, hot guys... NO! I really did like Connor. There was just a little too much drama for me. Still, I liked this one. I wanted to love it, but it took me a while to connect with the story and characters. It was enjoyable for me and I still feel like it was a worthy debut novel!

“I could never understand my purpose in this world. I have had nothing but pain and loss my whole life. But now I know why god saved me the first time. It was so I could find you. Then he saved me the second time so I could love you forever.”

Some of my favorite quotes...

“Because at some point you have to realize that some people can stay in your heart, but not in your life, and this is my way of keeping you in my heart.”

“You make me feel alive like no one ever has.”

“Memories are our way of holding onto the things we love, and I plan on making the most beautiful memories with you.”

“I love you, not only for who you are, but the person I have become because of you. This is my forever to you.”

“I’ve never loved anyone like I love you and no matter what we’ve been through or are going to go through, that will never change.”

“You have filled the void in my heart and soul that I never knew existed until you weren’t by my side.”

This book was spectacular in my opinion. I was a little nervous to read this because I thought it was going to be so much like all the other Billionaire love stories out there already. I must say I was pleasantly surprised this book was so different. Yes it had the mega rich man that was slightly broken with and issue from his past and it had the young woman who was also broken in many ways, but this story was just so much more then that. This book wasn't just a couple who argued and had make up sex all the time there was actually another storyline that played into this book. Now don't get me wrong there was arguing and hot make up sex but it didn't revolve around that. I have to say I fell in love with Connor, he ranks right up there with Christian, Gideon and Travis for me. He was a douche in the beginning but as time went on he totally melted my heart. I loved loved loved Ellery. She was one of the strongest heroines I have read about in a long time. We definitely need more leading ladies like her in books. I loved how she didn't take crap from anyone especially Connor. Connor was very dominant but she didn't cower and hide, she stood up to him and told him off when need be. Ellery has seen and been through her fair share of pain in her short life, but she still persevered and came out stronger in the end. I was a little aggravated with her towards the end because she was such a strong woman, that strength sometimes turned into stubbornness and some of the drama at the end of the book could have been avoided. I will say that I enjoyed the mix of story to sex scenes....this book wasn't overpowered by one or the other it had a great mix. I also loved the secondary characters .... Peyton, Ellery's BFF, was awesome. She was funny and strong also, but she was a great support for Ellery when she needed it.

As I have said before that what makes a great book, is what emotions I feel throughout the book....This book evoked many different emotions from me, I was laughing, crying, yelling, and just over all loving. That to me deserves 5 stars. I would definitely recommend this book to everyone.

Ok, I didn´t like this book. I wish I could give it more stars because it´s the first book from this author and I can see she has a unique perspective and has a good rythm with her writting. But, I can´t overlook the fact that she had a wonderful story in her hands with two likable characters and then threw it all away.

When I started this book I became deeply invested in the characters, I liked them. Ellery seemed like a breath of fresh air, she seemed like a fighter, she had attitude, sense of humor, she was smart and talented, but then, at 50% of this book everything changed. It didn´t bother me that she had a secret and I could understand where she was coming from. I thought she had her reasons, and then I kept reading and realized her reasosn were nothing but smoke. She wasn´t smart, she was spoiled, bitchy, and in need to always make herself a victim, even when she didn´t need to.

Connor changed as well. He was pussy whipped, yep, PUSSY WHIPPED!!! After half of reading the book I lost the connection between the characters. And realized that the story was going too damn fast for me to invest emotionally in it.

It´s like I have to review two different books, one I liked and a second one that wasn´t even worth reading. I think the author just lost herself mid through it, and couldn´t get her writting to the starting point. I will be waiting for her second book, I think it will be better.

Oh and the epilogue killed me, just killed me! Seriously!!!! genetics people, genetics!!!!!!!!!

I've struggled a bit with the review for this one.. I really liked the "idea" of the story. I also liked the 1st half of the book. Connor and Ellery had good chemistry starting out but at some point I just felt like their connection was lost not far after the midway point. This story had such potential to be really really good.. Super rich hot sexy guy thats a man ho, sweet beautiful girl that helps him see the light and he falls madly in love... But something was just missing. I never felt the sympathy I needed to feel for Ellery and her illnes, I hated the way she handled it, then I seriously didnt like the way Connor handled it then once they got back to being there for each other it just seemed forced. I just couldnt connect.. I'll definilty give Sandi Lynn another try with her next book.. because this one did have lots of potential.. Oh well.. we can't love them all...

I don't like to write bad things about a book because I can't imagine how difficult it must be write a book but this one really pissed me off. Besides the amount of unnecessary drama, the annoying insta-love (if you can even call it love) and the boring interaction between the characters.
There's something that bother me the most and i can't forgive and it was how jerk Connor Black is. He's an obsessive, control maniac who thinks that because of his "tragic past" he's allowed to treat women like objects and being a total douchebag. He literally says to Ellery that she's a slut for how she was dressing like and that if she gets raped it's her fault because she was asking for it. When i read it i was like "that's it, i'm done with this garbage" but i only finish it because there was like 10 pages left and let me tell you that that happy ending it's just absurd.
In conclusion, i lost my whole time. No offense but i've read fanfictions from a teenager that are better than this book.

Me decepcionó mucho

Connor, ufff bueno Connor.

First of all, I LOVED this book. I read it in one sitting and thought about it all day afterwards.

I originally gave this four stars and after pondering it changed my mind and gave it a full five stars. Here is why:

First of all I loved the characters, but I also wanted to slap the s**t out of them! The angst between these two was absolutely brutal. But it's like that horrible scene in a movie where you know it's going to rip your heart out and you just can't look away.

There is a huge spoiler that I won't include here because I know you will click on it. I always click on the spoilers. Let me just tell you this. It's heart wrenching. It makes you look at your life and say...wow...the hard decisions in my life suddenly seem like childs play compared to this.

It starts out with Connor being a player who doesn't date woman, but meets Ellery and is entranced by her for some reason. That seems typical enough, but let me tell you. It's not. Ellery has a huge secret that could completely break Connor's new found love for her.

Never fear these two do find their HEA and it is a beautiful one. However, this is where I had my 4 star 5star dilemma. At first I felt like the ending was too abrubt. The whole book was angst and turmoil and heartbreak and then all of a sudden, BAM they're together and everything works out perfectly.

At first I was like, that's it? After practically giving me PTSD with this book, it works out-just like that? And then I started thinking about it more. Sometimes, more often then not actually, things happen quickly. They hit you fast and unexpected. That is how Ellery and Connor fell in love and that is how they ended. So really, the ending makes perfect sense.

Great job Sandi!! I can't wait to read more from you!

**3.5 Stars**

The main reason why this story got 3.5 stars from me is because I found it addictive. I couldn't put it down and whenever I got the chance I picked up my iPhone to finish reading it. However, I found a lot of errors which bothered me and were distracting from the story. I also wanted to smack Elle's character, she was so flip floppy and unnecessarily annoying and difficult. I did enjoy Connor's character though! Although, for how long the book was I felt like their relationship rushed and there wasn't a strong build up. And don't get me started on the last 5-7 chapters, such randomness and fluff that dragged on for no reason.
