I found when reading this book that the pictures told as much of the bible story as much as if not better than the words. My recommendation would be for a parent to read this book along with their child and actually reference the bible for the full story that is noted in the words and pictures. The ebook version print was very small, so improving this feature would be helpful. Recommended reading grade K-2

This is a great picture book for children! It shows the gospel message beginning with creation and continuing the thread until the Resurrection in an easy to understand way for children. Beginning with Adam and Eve, continuing through Israelite history and then the time of Jesus, the same lesson is repeated: instead of following God’s way, people want to go their own way. But God had a plan…Jesus. It ends with how people today still don’t do what God wants but that Jesus will come again and make the world good and right. Even though it’s targeted towards 4-8 year olds, I think this book can help explain the gospel to kids of any age. It packs a ton of information into a forward moving text that keeps little ones focused and engaged. The illustrations are colorful and engaging and can be used to start a discussion to add to the text. I love this book and think it would be a great addition to any family library.

Thanks to Netgalley and David C. Cook for providing me with a copy of this book to read and review.

The Story of King Jesus>/i> exposes readers to the meta-narrative of the Bible and explains how the death and resurrection of Jesus “made it possible for us to be God’s people again … and for us to live the way God wants.” This book covers major Bible stories like the creation, the time of the Judges, the exile to Babylon, the life and resurrection of Jesus, and then ends in a modern-day setting. I think it will do a good job of teaching readers that their lives are connected to the stories in the Bible that can often seem ancient and disconnected.

Recommended for 8-9 year old readers. Younger readers might get distracted by the length (it's 48 pages) but with the help of a parent reader will get through just fine. Recommended to parents who are looking for a way to introduce the salvation message of Jesus in a way that is not overly focused on behavior, and that is set within the big story of the Bible.

This beautiful picture book, written by Ben Irwin and illustrated by Nick Lee, retells the story of Jesus from the first days in the Garden through His death and resurrection. The story is written in an easy to understand format. The illustrations support the text and add another layer to the story, highlighting details that may not be explicit within the text itself. Irwin takes a complex concept such as the sinful nature of humans, and put it into words that even very young children can understand. The one recurring theme throughout the book is that people often want things their own way, and this is where we fall short. But then there is the redemptive power of Jesus, a King whose one goal is to follow His Father's will. I really enjoyed this book and the gorgeous illustrations. I would not hesitate to share it with the young people in my life.

This is a great book for children! Instead of just presenting the Bible as separate stories, it basically shows how the gospel message is there in the whole Bible. I think with this overarching story, every Bible story can be explained in terms of the gospel. The illustrations are colorful and engaging. Even though it’s targeted towards 4-8 year olds, I think this book can help explain the gospel to kids of any age. I highly recommend it.

'The Story of King Jesus' written by Ben Irwin with illustrations by Nick Lee is a concise and easily understandable story of the gospel message. It's a really good telling of the story for young readers who are not quite ready to read the Bible.

It starts with creation, moves through the life of Jesus and ends with us today and how Jesus came to be our king. The illustrations are a perfect accompaniment and the colors used match the tone of the part of the story being told, bright for happy, muted tones for darker parts of the story.

I was really impressed with this story book. It's an easily readable and understandable version of the gospel with really appealing visuals.

I received a review copy of this ebook from David C. Cook and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this ebook.

With Easter almost here, this colorful picture book about Jesus would make a nice addition to any Easter basket. The story teaches children a valuable lesson about how important it is to listen to how the Lord wants all of us to live. It briefly touches on times where people did they wanted instead of following God. Then it goes on to tell us about how the Lord came and died for us so we have another opportunity to follow Him.

This book is recommended for children age 4-8. Younger children will enjoy the vividly colored photographs while having someone read the book to them, and older children will be able to read this themselves.

Perfect for kids up to 8 or 9, this picture book has the right amount of text for both reading aloud and silent reading. While the main focus is man's relationship with God and how Jesus came to bridge the gulf that separated the two, the book starts in Genesis and ends in Revelation.

The illustrations are colorful and interesting and the story is one that has appeared just in time for Easter giving.

Excellent summary of the story of Jesus

"The Story of King Jesus" tells the whole story of God's plan of redemption, as well as any it was necessary, simply & effectively. It is easy to share with children, and be understood. It also opens many doors for further discussions, which could well become deeper as children grow in understand ing & ability to formulate more questions. I highly recommend this book to all parents. All though a children's book, it wouldn't hurt for some older kids to share it...maybe by reading it to younger kids.

Do you have 10 minutes? With these 10 minutes, you and your child will go on a journey. A journey of the best kind…a journey with the King. King Jesus. It is the journey how God rescued his people, and how we are a part of that story of redemption. With vivid pictures that engage your child, to peak their curiosity as they learn about the best King of all…Jesus!

A huge and special thank you to David C Cook and Netgalley for the E-book and the opportunity to post a honest review.

Very general

This story was very general. It reminded me of Sally Lloyd-Jones' "The Jesus Storybook Bible" but without any of the story details. This book is okay if parents use it for variety along with other books that better tell the Bible stories but I wouldn't recommend using it on its own.

I do like the artwork that shows a darker skinned Jesus but the text is very hard to read as a digital book on my phone (the way i normally read books).

Great

This Kid's Bible story book is one of the best out there! Between this and the Jesus Storybook Bible, the story of Gods incredible love for the world is passed onto the next generation!

I love the straightforward language and wonderful illustrations.

Condenses the biblical narrative into a story you can read in one sitting. We have a bunch of Christian books for kids and The Story of King Jesus is the first I have found to accomplish this.

This is much shorter than I anticipated and although it attempts to show how Christ came to redeem creation it leaves the reader with a 'wait until He returns before anything good happens' mentality. Is this a 'saved for Heaven' message or aren't we meant for so much more in our lives now?

The story is told in such a way that children should be able to understand. The illustrations are a nice touch to match with the Biblical lessons.

I have the book downloaded on my Kindle and I felt the writing was very small that way.

This is a fabulous presentation of the Bible's big story just for kids (and big kids, too). I can't remember ever seeing a better gospel presentation for kids.
