This book, Beneath, is an interesting fantasy book. It tells the story of a teenage girl, living a normal life. Suddenly, she is startled by a nightmare that came true. She is taken from her house, and is brought underwater, turned into a mermaid, and lives her life on from there. The girl, at first Katherine Jones, finds a new identity and life in the depths of the ocean. Many characters in this book were based of of the author's friends. I would recommend this book to anybody to explore a writing style that anyone can learn from. (This book was written by MY FRIEND! :D )

I liked the story a lot. It was just that some parts were a little confusing. For example when the characters were mer people the author displayed their movements as if they had legs. I was amazed and impressed by the authors age. She was eleven when she wrote this book. Some part of the story i did not really like as much like when they had to go on land to get the parts of the Svalik and how the Svalik gave the mer people energy. Overall I think that this was on the best mermaid books that I read so far.
