Fort Worth Police Officer Megan Luz and her fiancé, firefighter Seth Rutledge, will soon be walking down the aisle—assuming they live to see their wedding day ...
WHEN A STRANGER CALLS, CHAOS ENSUES.
A series of bogus reports of active shooters has rattled the Fort Worth PD. The SWAT team has been repeatedly deployed to what turn out to be nonevents. When no connection can be made between the “swatting” calls, Megan’s mentor, Detective Bustamente, is at a loss. Are the phony calls being made by copycat criminals, or is there a link they haven’t yet been able to identify? Megan and Brigit join the investigation. But will they be able to stop the calls before the department’s reaction turns deadly?
THEN THINGS GET EVEN HOTTER.
If the bogus shooter calls aren’t enough to keep our favorite first responders on their toes and on edge, an elusive arsonist seems intent on pushing the city’s firefighters to their limits, with increasingly dangerous results. Who is setting the fires and why? The fire and police departments team up to track the sinister offender, whose offenses hit closer and closer to home. Can the felonious firebug be found before his efforts turn fatal?
Award-winning author Diane Kelly writes romance and romantic mysteries featuring feisty heroines, quirky sidekicks, and sexy leading men, with humor that leaves readers laughing out loud.
Fun little mystery as always. Love that it’s set in Fort Worth as it provides a little sense of realism knowing and being able to really picture the places. Ending was a little rushed, but still enjoyed.
I absolutely LOVE this series. This book was every bit as good as all the previous books, if not better because all the characters were so intertwined. So nice to have Brigit back as her perspective always adds so much to the story. I know Diane Kelly has several series but I hope she has another book floating around in her mind for this series.
Megan Luz is a police officer in Fort Worth, Texas. She has a K-9 partner named Brigitte. She is getting ready for her wedding with Seth Rutledge, who is a firefighter and has a firefighting dog. But there has been a series of reports of a shooter at a couple of venues in the Fort Worth area that were all false reports, but created a lot of injuries and chaos. Expensive Swat Team services were called out and not needed. Meanwhile, there is also a series of fires. One at the local High School, another at a nursing home. Officer Luz and her K-9 are on the job trying to find out who is responsible and if the incidents are all connected or separate perpetrators are involved. These incidents are ramping up in intensity. It is up to the detectives with the help from Officer Luz and Brigitte to solve the crimes.
After four long years we finally have another addition to the series. All the old characters are back, the POVs from Brigit and the perp alongside Megan's add extra layers to the story, and the humor and mystery are as good as ever. Seems to be the last in the series but all ends are tied up and we're left with a sweet ending that ensures a happy future for all the characters.
Just because Megan and Seth are getting married, crime and fires don’t stop. This fun story tells the tale of fire and crime meshing not in a good way. This story had me guessing and left me with a big smile.
What a great installment in this series. What’s again, Megan and her canine partner Bridget solve crimes in this book. Megan is getting married to Seth, who was a firefighter and has a dog named blast an arson I like the way Dianne Kelly writes.
