great book, entertaining but man I really hope the beast tide is the next book we have been waiting forever. but nevertheless it was a good book and can't wait for the next one.
I was pretty disappointed that we started with 24hr book and 20+, and now we have 2 books coming out with under 2 months of space between (I don't mind that tho!!) but the books are 14 hts. THAT is uncomfortable close to the 2 books making up the first in length. I am annoyed with that.
However, I think the story really made a lot of progress. I know I have complained some before (like the Nox fight, that maybe use the word : WHILE or similar so it is told like 2 3 characters doing nothing while one have like ten minutes to do stuff (well, like a turned based game and someone got 2 extra turns lol). i think this was much better in the fight in this book, even if it took different time to tell what parties did, but that is not a problem when handled like that.
i do you understand that this book/part of story would be part 1 if the next is part 2 of what will come and that is done in next book. i do wonder which direction this story goes after the wave.. upward or "outwards" (not sure if that is a word lol).
I think the story got much better than the last books (not saying they were bad, if so I would not read this). But it has a lot of potential further on and I don't have that much imagination!!!
After crushing it twice in a row with two back-to-back five star books, I really wanted to give this one another five, but just couldn't. The fight in Nightrose City was bad ass, but not as gripping as the Lunarshade fight. Also, Vincent was a good villain, and his body swapping and ever increasing frustration made me chuckle.
SPOILERS!!!
I hate to say it, but I was underwhelmed by the final showdown. Vincent was a great schemer, and his Machiavellian plan was interesting, but the fight itself kinda let me down. I know that Xkarnation felt that killing Vincent was necessary for Stella's character growth, but I would have preferred him escaping and plotting from the shadows until Stella grew strong enough to kill him in a one on one showdown. It's still a good book though, and a fun read.
A great addition to the series. Not a standalone. Ash and crew plot the overthrow of the Nightrose family, succeed, but then have to track the leader down to end his threat once and for all. Everything is resolved leaving the impending Beast Tide on their doorstep. Please enjoy
This is the only book series that I put down any other book to come read more of. It makes me laugh and makes me deeply emotionally invested. All Hail the All Seeing Eye!
This was easily the best one of the series. Lots of satisfying moments and great writing. Successfully ends a few stories while preparing interesting arcs in the future.
