I had been Benjamin Mead’s executive assistant for three years now, and for two of them, I’d been in love with him.
Skylar has dedicated herself to being an absolutely exceptional executive assistant to playboy millionaire Benjamin Mead. Despite her unreciprocated feelings, she cherishes their close bond and the way he only seems to let her in. But Ben has taken it too far. His exploitation of her loyalty has reached a breaking point. Having cleaned up the last of his messes, Skylar has handed in her notice, determined to move on—both professionally and emotionally.
But the thought of losing Skylar terrifies Ben in ways that he's not familiar with. Why can't he imagine his life without her? He doesn't feel like he deserves her, but at the same time, he can't let her go...
Too bad he only has 14 days to figure this out before Skylar is gone for good.
Allison Speka's stories are light on the spice and heavy on the banter. She delivers realistic characters that you'll instantly root for, taking you on a roller coaster of emotions. With moments of passion, humor, and a fast-paced plot, her books will keep you hooked from start to finish, making it impossible to put them down.

What happens when you’ve been in love with your boss for going on three years? But your boss is a playboy who doesn’t do commitment?
That’s the situation Skylar finds herself in. Skylar is always there to clean up Ben’s messes and repair his image. But Skylar also believes after a moment shared between the her and Ben that there’s more there and there’s potential. Until there’s an “emergency” that Ben needs her to clear up that is her last straw and has her putting in her notice because it’s just too painful to be around Ben.
Ben is left with his assistant who cleans up all his messes now leaving him in just 15 days and emotions of him not wanting her to leave but it can’t be because he’s got feelings for her or he’s in love, right? Because Ben is scarred from the marriage he saw his parents in and that turned him off commitment and relationships all together. Ben accepts that he isn’t good enough for Skylar.
I will forever sing Allison Speka’s praises. This is 103 pages and she managed to fit in humor, character development, plot/storyline and spice. If you are looking for quick read that isn’t missing storyline, humor, character development and growth with a touch of spice? Then this one needs to be on your TBR and this also kicks off her series to Love Linked!
Cute, short, simple. A quick read but also pulls you in to feel for the characters, only thing I would of wished was different, either the repetition on Ben’s behalf prior to the realization or his realization to be sooner. However, if you need something cute & quick with light spice. This is the one, literally finished it in two weeks. No pun intended.
Really a 3.5 ⭐️ read. Short, sweet and to the point. I really wasn’t expecting the turns that it took, but they really increased the stakes and made it a fun read. Excited to read more of her books.
First book I’ve read by Allison Speka and I loved it. It was a fast read. Skylar has been Ben’s assistant for three years and has been in love with him for that long too. But, Ben was a playboy and was always in the tabloids and Skylar was always clearing his name. After he kissed her one night her feelings grew. Ben told her it was a mistake. Skylar couldn’t take it anymore and gave her two week notice. Ben thought he could change her mind and she wouldn’t leave. After taking her to a business event they went to Ben’s penthouse. Ben told her how he felt that he couldn’t lose her. It was everything Skylar wanted to hear except Ben just thought she was retuning to being her assistant. Would Ben tell her how he really feels.
I was definitely in a little bit of a reading slump, but I had been wanting to read this book but just couldn’t seem to find the energy to pick it up. But then I did! I finished it in about 24 hours! I thought it was an adorable little novella! Can’t wait to read the next one!

I really did enjoy this book I just felt like it was super rushed, I understand it was a novella so it has to be kind of rushed but still. I love it when a book can actually make my stomach drop and make me feel what the characters are feeling. I felt that with the morning after scene. I didn’t realize it was going to happen until it was happening and my stomach dropped. I am so glad after everything was said and done though she didn’t go back to being his assistant!

I loved reading love linked, so know that this novela shows you the backstory to two of the mentioned characters, I had to read it! It explains so much about Ben's character and why he does the way he does. Loved his story with Sky! Loved seeing the boss/employee turned lovers, loved the sexual tension, loved the playboy aspect. Quick read, but I wish it would've been longer! I would've loved to see more of their story. Can't wait to see what Allison Speka brings to the table with the sneak peek she posted the other day Have you read any of her books yet? They're all on Ku, whatcha waiting for?!
Allison Speka has done it again! I typically - under normal circumstances - hate second-chance-romance books. They just don't hit for me as the other typical cute, light, and fluffy romance tropes do. But I wanted to give this one a try since I've loved everything I've read by her. This one was no exception, I loved this book to bits and pieces! When it comes to Allison, she can write an amazing story without any unnecessary bits, but still have it fill you up to your core. If you're trying to reach your goal by the end of the year, want something quick and easy to read, but also something cute, fluffy, and lighthearted, then this is the perfect book!
What a fun and super fast read! I absolutely adore Allison Speka's writing. When I realized this was somewhat of a prequel to Love Linked I immediately had to read it before diving in to that for my next read. If you enjoy fun banter, then her writing is def for you. I would probably say this is her spiciest book but I believe it's because of it being a novella. Her books are pretty light on the spice, but heavy banter which I LOVE. I have not been disappointed in anything I've read by her yet!
I cannot State enough how much I just wanted to reach through the pages and smack this guy around because it is like honestly how can you not see that your brain I like I understand I understand the trauma but she's there she's his everything literally his life like his life's blood flows through her veins and he's just not getting it. I adore the story I will definitely be reading it again I'm so glad I bought it.
Let me start by saying I absolutely love that the name of the person whose POV we are reading is at the top of the page - chefs kiss! I read it in one day, that’s what I love about novellas. This was great! The workplace, playboy billionaire boss / assistant, playful banter, and happy ending. I really enjoyed it
I usually don't read novellas that often, but this was a cute one. Skylar has been Ben's assistant for 3 years and has been in love with too. When another scandal happens that involves Ben, Skylar is done with it. She gave her notice. Ben didn't want to lose Skylar as an assistant, but it was more than that. I love a good office romance and this was a short and sweet one.
My issues aren't about the writing, but with the plot. We first meet the hero after a scandal where he's dating sisters and causing drama. The heroine is in love with this fuckboy of a man for some reason. He even calls her in the middle of the night to chase out another woman. Yet I'm supposed to believe there's a HEA here? Sure.
As any of Allison Speka’s book, this novella is great! Well written, the plot was good and I got lost in it and didn’t even realize I got to the end of the book all in one go! Can’t recommend her books enough!
5/5 stars although this story was quick, it was truly amazing!! this story was paced just right and told everything it needed to while being just over 100 pages!! i truly have loved all of her books this far!!
This was a super cute, well written novella! It was fun, had a good plot, and had good character development even with it being so short! As is always the case for novellas I fall in love with, I wish it was longer! Very much enjoyed and would recommend!
Ben was literally the WORST! Queue Sabrina Carpenters 'Man Child' song because that is what he is. Sky...come on girl he is a f-boy and only 'wanted' you once you put in your notice? Ugh infuriating. DNF at 45%
I love the short stories time to time and this was perfect. I hate that it took him so long to get his head out of his butt and really open his eyes but when he did it was amazing!!
