Harmonious Hearts

Rate this book
Sometimes, opposites don't attract — they collide.

Mitchell Sullivan was supposed to be the ultimate uncomplicated distraction…until Roxy finds out the friends-with-benefits she didn't realize she was falling for is also benefiting from his best friend, Ian Summers.

Ian, who barely tolerates her.
Ian, who watches her like he’s just waiting for her to trip.
Ian, who steps in to protect her when she least expects it—and never quite steps back.

Suddenly, Roxy is entangled in a connection she never sought between two men with a history of their own and a growing interest in her.

Mitch wants more, and Ian wants in, but Roxy doesn’t know who she is when she’s not guarding her heart

Caught between past wounds and a future none of them planned for, Roxy has to decide if she’s brave enough to stop running and strong enough to hold onto something real.

Book One in the Disaster Bi Design series, Harmonious Hearts, is an erotic why choose (MMF) novella with a pretty cover and filthy guts.

Darby Quinn writes spicy romances with heart, humor, and heat...emphasis on the heat. With a soft spot for morally gray characters, obsessive MMCs, and villains who get the girl, she crafts stories that will leave you breathless and begging for more.

When she's not writing, Darby is likely drinking a crisp Dr. Pepper, playing cozy video games, and wondering if the new story idea she just had is too wild.

Follow her for more stories that will make you laugh, swoon, blush, and rethink reading in public.

Well that was just porn. And not very good porn either. No plot, no cohesiveness. So many things were unrealistic and didn’t make sense…

Well, this was my first time reading this author but I loved every second of it. It was basically 100 pages of pure delightful, hot and heavy, filth. But it was also so much more than that! In such a short span, the author managed to fit in such a range. I swooned, I giggled, I melted, it tugged on my heart and I felt pride for characters we barely knew! Roxy and Ian are two ends of the very same spectrum when it comes to their pain. And they're both criminally misunderstood. The tension between those two was palpable. Mitch was the catalyst and bridge for connecting them. It was a perfect read and I recommend it to everyone who wants a quick and easy, yet extremely fulfilling (and filthy) read mixed with MM action! Oh did i mention, they're both dominant MMCs? If you're thinking about reading it, as Mitch and Ian would both say, stop thinking and just let go. Read it! You won't regret it!

I'm sorry, but first of all there was no getting to know the characters or what they even work with (or how they know each other.) And then she gets groped by a bunch of guys and nobody stands up for her or confronts the guys??? Not to even mention that she tells Mitch "no" to sex when she notices he's drunk and he tries to convince her otherwise????

I do not like that, nor that this book has zero plot - I've read fanfiction smut better than this.

3.5/5 rounded up to 4

Short read, novella length and mostly sex but enjoyed the dynamic between the three with their issues to work out and the power dynamics in the bedroom. It was interesting to see Ian and Roxy work out their insecurities before and during the bedroom scenes especially and the dynamic of the two kind of differing dominants, one more assured and one a bit softer. Generally books that are more focused on sex only aren’t my thing so I’m probably not the target audience but it was a fine read.

There’s some errors where sentences are missing a word at the end or things like wrong word form used, which did pop me out of the flow when reading a little.

However, overall a fun, fast, hot little read - if you’re looking for a quickie read with fun dynamics I think this is worth picking up.

Got really frustrated with this book. It’s mostly spice but there was so much build up about this guy’s large appendage. She must be a snake if she can fit it in her mouth but it was soooo tight elsewhere *eye roll*. Then the MM part at the end was just thrown in for fun? It wasn’t paced right for me.

Mitch and Ian will forever live with me. I loved the pace of the book and how it started off strong and didn’t let up. Roxy has so many imperfections that both boys fill perfectly. They blend together well and create a sense of warmth and love between them. My only complaint is that I want MORE! I would have loved to have read from months before, the development between Mitch and Roxy and Mitch and Ian and all of their views. On the opposite end I would love to see them after now that they are together in day to day life and the excitement and struggles of their new love triangle.

In this short, spicy, quick debut read from Darby Quinn, you have Mitch, Ian, and Roxy all trying to figure out the sparks between them. It will all come to a head at Mitch's promotion party and the spice gets hot! 🔥 This is a spice-heavy, low plot book. I loved it and will definitely be reading the next one in the series!

Speechless

I've forgotten what words are, I've been left in a puddle on the floor.
This is one of those books with the cutesy covers in the streets and a big hard spice in the sheets!

Darby is a liar! This book has plenty of plot (enough to get you in your feels and a little choked up) and ALL of the spice! This love triangle quickly turns into a throuple and it was amazing!

Wow! For a short and sweet spicy book I wasn't expecting as much story as there was!! I've seen less story in a book that's 500 pages! fab writing, it was enticing and what a perfect way to portray a mix of pain and pleasure that all party's involved enjoy x
Definitely recommend

spicy

This was both sweet and spicy. Why choose when you can have them both! The MCs all want each other and they finally decide to get there! This was short and spicy.

A quick read that’ll knock your socks off

If I ever thought about writing a book, this is the exact book it would be. It was the exact amount of filth I want in a book. I loved it so much. It was a very quick MMF read (120 pages). The dirty talk starts on page 2. I absolutely fell in love with the characters. 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️/5
It even had a little twist of events toward the beginning, to get the ball rolling, that I didn’t expect. Well done!

We’re going to categorize Harmonious Hearts as dark erotica. It’s a very steamy MMF romance novella with strong biromantic elements. And since it’s MMF, yes — the MMCs cross swords. The dynamic here is Grumpy × Sunshine × Himbo, with the FMC as the black cat of the group. Personally, Himbo MMF is one of my favorite setups, and Quinn leans all the way into it.

There isn’t much plot - this novella is essentially chapter after chapter of them all getting dicked down, with the opening couple of chapters serving only as a warm-up before the nonstop spice begins. They work out their feelings through sex, which wouldn’t really fly in the real world, but in fantasy land it makes for a fun, indulgent read. Ideally, they would have talked out their emotions and then jumped into bed, but I can’t exactly complain about characters deciding to hash out their issues while having mind-melting orgasms.

Summary: Harmonious Hearts is pure, unapologetic dark erotica. If you’re looking for heavy plot or emotional depth, this won’t be your book. But if you’re craving relentless spice with a fun MMF dynamic and a cast that feels like trope archetypes come to life, then it’s absolutely worth the read. I gave it 4/5 stars for delivering exactly what it promises: heat, humor, and plenty of himbo energy.

This book is more of a 2.5/2.75 than a 3 star for me. I know this book was more of a "novella", but I thought there was going to be some sort of build up to the sex part. The book was 75% smut, and the pacing just wasn't my cup of tea. I wanted to know more about the characters and it was like the author just wanted to write smut and not an actual story, which is fine, but not what I was expecting this to be.

It was recommended to me when I searched for "sword crossing" MMF books, and even then, there wasn't as much of the MM part as I was expecting. The MM part was minimal, and just kind of thrown in there at the end. They weren't as involved with each other as I wanted them to be. The dirty talk was good, but there were parts that just read cringey to me.

The writing style was very repetitive, using the same words and phrases over and over again to convey the same thing happening. There wasn't a lot of variety in the character movements or dialogue. It was boring for some parts, and took me longer to read than it should have for how short it was.

The internal dialogue of the fmc is bloody hilarious! This is the perfect palate cleanser spicy novella between longer reads and I love it when a book requires 0 of my brain cells to just read. The characters do have a little back story which was nice but the spice was spicing. It can be read in one sitting I just started it at almost midnight 😂

⚔️ MMF bi romance
🌶️ Mostly spice novella
⚔️ Grumpy x sunshine x himbo
🌶️ Healing her trauma
⚔️ Hard dom x Soft dom
🌶️ She’s the grump

It’s available now on KU ❤️

I stumbled across this gem as a self rec by the author in a book group. She had posted a little scene snipit that had my attention, and I added it to my TBR!

This is one long spice scene between a really likable group of individuals. We are thrust into a very, already established friends with benefits situation with Roxy and Mitch. Roxy is facing the realization that her no strings attached hookups mean way more to her than just casual releases. Mitch starts another relationship with his male best friend and she feels the turmoil of having no claim to him outside of their current agreement, and her long time insecurities start gnawing at her mind when she sees Ian as not only the annoying coworker she can't stand, but the infectiously likeable guy that is directly her competition. Competition her own demons won't allow her to even consider winning against.

The dynamic changes up pretty quickly when Roxy tries to run from her feelings as soon as she realizes, but Mitch interjects with a request he has been desperately wanting and setting up for some time. The prospect of all three of them... enjoying each other. There is a huge roadblock in the fact that Ian and Roxy have some common ground in their own feelings to find before pursuing the wants of their mutual love for Mitch, but it's quickly settled that they both have strong feelings to acknowledge.

That takes a very short amount of time to all work out before Roxy is being drug off to Mitch's room, and the rest of the book starts, lol! Moving forward is a steamy display of three people finding the love they need for themselves within eachother and the beauty of having a safe space to celebrate the strength in giving over your control to those who truly cherish what that gift means. This is such a spicy book. It's chapter after chapter of their first time together, and you get a taste of absolutely everything. There are so many sentences that are melt worthy. The ways the guys talk to her and praise her and take care of her mental state while no less using her how she needs, all while claiming her in the ways they all need..... drool. I just got lost for a while until we all were exhausted and satisfied, lol.

And to think... this all happened while Mitch was hosting a party in his apartment to celebrate his new work promotion, lol.

This book was filthy spicy fun mixed with some really deep emotional aspects to give our characters some depth. I enjoyed it and am skipping off to book two!

I need to thank Booktok for this rec. OMG, I’ve been in a slump and needed something to kick me out of it. Enter: This spicy little novella! 🥰🥵🫠

Roxy has been fcuk buddies with her friend Mitch. They weren’t exclusive, but when Roxy finds out Mitch is also in a banging his best friend, Ian, she realizes that she caught feelings and breaks off their arrangement.

Meanwhile, Mitch has been trying to hook up Roxy with Ian, but Roxy hates Ian. (Probably because they’re so similar in personality.) Fast forward to a party where tensions finally snap and holy goodness!!! 🥵

Y’all. 👀 Sometimes the smut needs to be the plot, and I ain’t mad at it. This book kicked me out of my slump so hard that I IMMEDIATELY bought my trophy copy, along with Book 2!

Thank you, Mitch, Ian, and Roxy (and Darby) for this fun time.

TLDR: Spicy, why-choose, rivals to lovers novella where her boyfriends are boyfriends.

The spice was spicy, and the story was there. but, there were so many repetitive moments for Roxy's internal thoughts. to the point I wanted to just skim through a lot of it.
this 120pg (according to kindle) book only covers a few hours. 😅 I feel like it could have had more content, timeline, or less pages considering. I thought at the very least we'd get an epilogue or something but we didnt even finish the aftercare and then it was just over.

also. youre telling me not a single person at the party celebrating one of these men noticed all the PDA (to put it lightly) or the disappearance OR the loud ass sex!? wild.

plus, towards the end there a quite a few typos/mistakes in the writing. now, normally I don't mention this because we're human. but this was simple spelling mistakes that even Microsoft word should have caught (squeeing instead of squeezing, for example.) plus a few moments of just poor sentence structure that pulled me out of the story because I had to re read several times to figure it out.

regardless, I think theres so much potential and i will definitely be reading more by this author. 🖤 overall it was a fun afternoon read and I'm glad I found it.

What a hot, quick and spicy read! Damn, I’m so jealous that I want to be Roxy 🤣

I really liked how the author thought to add a bit of backstory. I just feel like the backstory would have been better before the smut and not during. To me, that just takes away from the moment. When I’m in the “smut zone”, I don’t want to sit and talk about my feelings LMAO. Yet there was enough story and feelings that had me wanting more. I wanted to know Ian and Mitch’s story. I wanted to know how Mitch and Roxy met and how they started, and I’m FERAL to know how my new favorite throuple is doing now that the feelings are all out there!

Let me tell you. It was like “good cop, bad cop” in that bedroom. One degrades her while the other praises her 🥵. There was sword-crossing because hello??? Who doesn’t love that??? There was position changes, deep throating, being used and abused in the most DELICIOUS way…. If that doesn’t convince you to read this, then this isn’t the book for you.

Darby this novella was so deliciously smutty and I can’t wait for your next release! 😍

Do you ever read a book that is maybe a bit out of what you'd normally reach for, and you're not sure it'll be your thing, then you read it and end up pleasantly surprised? That was this book for me.

Why choose/MMF is very hit or miss with me, I'm not always into it, but I saw this book recommended in a smutty Facebook group and figured I'd give it a try and I'm glad that I did.

It's a super spicy novella with lots of chemistry (I swear my phone was steaming at certain points!) and a dash of vulnerability that got me really invested in the outcome for these characters.

Roxy, Mitchell and Ian just fit together, and that's not always the case with a why choose/MMF romance in my experience, but I was really into how they complimented each other. You get to know the characters a bit but it's not the deep dive you'd get from a full-length novel, yet it doesn't feel like anything is missing.

All in all, this was a good call for me and if you're in the mood for a novella full of spicy times, this is the read for you!
