Campfire Crushes, Unexpected Kisses, and The Thirst Trap

Rate this book
I never thought of myself as a social media junkie.

I mean I guess I'm on it all the time, but that's because it's my job.

Though to be honest, I do spend a great deal of time ogling thirst traps on Tiktok. In particular one Levi the Lumberjack. But that's beside the point.

My doctor tells me that I need to find a way to de-stress or I'm going to have a heart attack before I turn thirty.

So I escape to Whisper Springs Hideaway. A swanky, adult summer camp that promises one thing--no wifi and no cell service. It's the perfect place to unplug and rethink my life.

What I didn't plan on was running right into Levi the Lumberjack himself.

So much for de-stressing.

I felt this book had potential but it was way too short. The way it ended…it literally just stopped. It made no sense whatsoever.

Although this book was extremely cheesy, it was an enjoyable and quick read. I will say I felt like Levi was always trying to change Hannah and he was constantly say it wouldn’t work between them and then when someone else showed interested in Hannah, he would swoop back in, so for that reason I didn’t like him.

Anywho, most of the characters were likable and I liked the idea of the plot. It wasn’t a bad read but I just wanted more.

Unfortunately I just wanted more from this book in so many ways. It was way too cheesy at some points, through in a ton of different plot points that weren’t necessary. And the conflicts were resolved way too quickly in ways that didn’t make sense. I liked the story, I just wanted more.

Grumpy sunshine, insta-attraction, romcom, curvy rep( deviating from the “standard” size 0 girl but not quite plus size. Lumberjack 😍🪵🫠

Sexy grumpy lumberjack that does like social media, but his sister secretly films him and runs a tiktok account for him where he has 5 mil followers? Hahaha yeah I wanted to read this after seeing that 😂😂😂 I love lumberjack tiktok 🪵😂😂

Thank you Kimmy Loth for gifting me this physical copy!❤️❤️❤️ I enjoyed it so much!

FMC has built a successful business that began as doing one min videos on what one thing you could do to improve a cooking recipe. She’s now expanded to many different avenues like self care, makeup etc where she mostly runs the biz behind the scenes instead of in front of the camera.

She signs up to go to a an adult summer camp to unplug and rethink life. She’s been go go go since her biz took off that her doc said she needs to destress before she has a heart attack before turning 30.

At the camp, she meets Levi the lumberjack 🪵🫠 she’s been crushing on him forever.

Their chemistry is 🔥🔥🔥. So much fun and just realness about how social media can just suck you in.

Even running a booktok can sometimes feel like a job you don’t get paid for and lose its fun playful luster.

A great story with great main and side characters ❤️❤️❤️

I love this! It was such a quick read!

I love Hannah and I can semi-relate to the social media addiction (I’m not that bad though 🤣)
Also Levi?!! Love him and I totally fall for the lumberjack thirst traps on TT so I’d be all over him 🤣

This was such a fun read! I thought it was cute and I loved seeing a side of Levi that his family didn’t even see.
Hannah getting out away from the world and around a family that loves her and appreciates her was amazing!

My only critic is that Levi had a large amount of issues with Hannah and her job and all the social media apps and stuff, it was just kinda glossed over and never seemed really resolved. But it didn’t take away from my enjoyment of the book!

I actually quite enjoyed this book because it made me laugh throughout the whole thing. This series by Kimmy Louth is adorable and easy reading. I’ve been using the books in this series specifically for reading on my Kindle while working out on the treadmill at the gym - “escaping into Whisper Springs” helps keep me distracted from how much getting in shape sucks sometimes! But I’m sure the people at the gym thought I was weird when I was walking on the treadmill and would randomly let out a laugh!

This was a short quick read about a social media star wanting to step back from content creation and enjoy life. She goes to a social media detox camp and accidentally runs into her crush. The only problem is he doesn’t know he’s a TikTok star, and hates anything social media and influencers.

Loved the compromises they made for each other and their growth.

Thank you nerd fam and Kimmy Loth for the chance to read and review this early.

This is a great quick easy romance read especially if you don’t like spice. It is spice free but has plenty of tension. It has curvy girl representation and the FMC is very relatable especially for those of us obsessed with our phones.

This book was definitely in the cute side and is a perfect, very easy to read /palette cleanser, especially for those who are in between a series. Hannah, our FMC is suffering from major burnout from work and a life in social media ventures to a retreat camp to escape the everyday life and help her health. Where she meets the object of her Tik Tok fantasies, Levi the Lumberjack. Who is a down to earth do-it yourselfer for the camp and has millions of followers on Tik Tok. The catch is that it’s his sister filming these and he has NO CLUE it is evening happening. And in fact despises social media!

Their start this whirlwind romance after she wins him in an auction! The story itself is cute and I really love the premise. Their chemistry was very cute, and the dynamic with his family was very cute too. It’s an overall wholesome story! Overall, it was fun but it just did not carry all of the relationship components I personally really love in my romance genre which lowers the rating for me a bit. I am a spicy girl and I like to see the relationships have more complexity, and I love when FMCs keep their tenacity.

✨I am going to hold my numerical rating, just because this book is so newly coming out!✨

📕 Campfire Crushes, Unexpected Kisses, and The Thirst Trap by Kimmy Loth
⭐ Rating: 4/5 — sometimes you just need cute, messy romance and this one delivers

📖 Summary:
Protagonist is a social media worker who hates how tangled her life’s become, especially her addiction to ogling thirst traps (namely Levi the Lumberjack). Doctor says she’s burning out. So she retreats to Whisper Springs Hideaway, a “no wifi / no cell service” adult summer camp meant to help her unplug. But fate (campfire / unexpected kisses / jack-boots romance) drops Levi right in her path. And as always, de-stress = complicated crush + funny chaos.

This book is:
✨ Sweet summer romance with zero pretense
✨ Opposites attract + forced proximity in nature + cute tropes turned warm chaotic
✨ Romance where the struggle is also emotional—she’s not perfect, he’s not perfect, but there’s a pull
✨ Light tears, warm laughs, tons of heart

💖 Character Reactions:
🔥 Levi the Lumberjack —
Hot, rugged, probably smells like pine and strength. He isn’t trying to be perfect. He’s just… charming + steady. And the way he shows up at the camp when she’s trying to escape everything? Melt-worthy.

🌼 Protagonist (unnamed in summary) —
Burned out, people-pleaser, social media-overloaded. Her journey is healing. She wants quiet. She wants authenticity. She wants someone who doesn’t need a WiFi signal to feel close.

🫠 Notable Moments You Probably Grabbed Your Kindle For:
When she realizes she can live without her phone for a few days—and Levi’s laugh makes it almost worthwhile.
First campfire talk under stars, when “no cell service” becomes less of a punishment and more of a gift.
That kiss that was supposed to be “just because it’s dark / I can’t see you” but becomes everything.

🔥 Smut Level:
Moderate. Sweet + spicy + innocent thrills. Not over the top, but enough to sizzle when it needs to.
#SmutTags: #SummerCrushHeat #LumberjackLove #NoWifiNeeded #KissesUnderTheStars

⚠️ Trigger Warnings:
Minimal. Stress, anxiety, self-doubt, maybe a jealous moment—but it’s more about healing than horror.

Campfire Crushes, Unexpected Kisses, and the thirst trap - Kimmy Loth

4.5/5⭐️

📚📚📚
This book was seriously such a cute and fast read! I enjoyed it so much! It made you feel all the good vibes and many emotions when reading. Hannah is an FMC that I feel is totally relatable in some ways. I can totally get lost in the social media for hours too. I’m so glad she was able to work on that and get a handle on it for herself. Hannah is very confident but also very insecure and you’ll see that play out in a few different parts. But isn’t everyone?! Levi I feel for so quickly! I love a good grump though and Hannah definitely brought the light back into him. These two together were everything! The chemistry was just perfect and they really balanced each other. The end had me so nervous but the way it all worked out made my heart happy! Overall such a great read and totally recommend!

My Thoughts: 👉 While I enjoyed this, it wasn’t a fave. The characters and storyline didn’t grip me quite the way I would’ve liked. But that’s not to say someone else wouldn’t absolutely love it!
When it was finally revealed as to why the MMC hated social media so much, I understood to a certain extent, but at the same time felt he was taking it to an extreme. Then again, a misunderstanding that was twisted into something bad and posted to social media resulting in dishonorable discharge from the military, would I guess get under your skin and stay there for a long time. - While I found the FMC’s obsession with her phone and social media a bit overboard, it is her JOB… I appreciated how the latter half of this story, while frustrating at times, really showcased how easy it is to become addicted to technology and how beneficial it can be to take a step away and get back to nature so to speak. Everything needs boundaries in life so you don’t get burned out. So there were some good life lessons in here!

As for the audiobook experience, I didn’t care for when the MMC was speaking, but enjoyed it enough when the FMC was speaking. Overall it was a decent listen.

We are back in Whisper Springs for the second book with Levi the lumberjack and Hannah the videographer with a PhD in Art History. After a health scare, Hannah has a decision to make if she wants to survive and winds up at the retreat. She is supposed to detox from social media and take advantage of the clean air and amenities. Levi is dealing with some serious ptsd from his past and it is not helping matters that his sibling is posting his attributes on social media without his knowledge. Hannah catches sight of Levi and is taken aback when she runs into him in person. The chemistry between them is sparking but it is a slow burn to love. Their banter is warm and affectionate, and they balance each other beautifully. Overall, the characters are down to earth, relatable, and family oriented. Ms. Loth has a way of writing that engages the reader with her vivid descriptions so one feels as part of the story. This is one storyline that you will read in one sitting because you will not want to put it down.

I absolutely love this book and the characters Kimmy brings to life. I Whisper Springs sounds amazing and I would love to visit something like this one day. The family that runs it-I love the way they love each other and the way they interact! But let me talk about Levi and Hannah. First, Levi the Lumberjack is just drool worthy hot but I love how he is so grumpy and also has a completely unexpected side. I love how he still works with the wood although I guess as a lumberjack that should have been expected! Even better is how he interacts with Hannah. I love how he builds her up and won't let her see herself as less than how he sees her, which of course is beautiful. I love Kimmy's books anyway, but man this series is just knocking it out of the park! I had a hard time putting this one down and I can't wait for the next one!

Hannah's fixation on her daily life had put her health at risk, so she had to make a decision that was not entirely to her liking. Ah, but look at how fate has a special way of playing with our lives. It seemed that Hannah's decision was going to open the doors to what she really needed and to face the insecurities that had been plaguing her for a long time. Interesting how the social environment is presented in our lives. Both Hannah and Levi had walked a long way to get to where they were. I was struck by how the mystery of Levi's situation was maintained and how Hannah was slowly lowering his barriers. I loved Hannah's dynamism and how she knew how to go for what she wanted. Bickering between the siblings is always fun and the place’s atmosphere really helps. These interesting stories entertain me and make me smile with the clever and amusing way the author presents them.

I loved Campfire Crushes, Unexpected Kisses, and the Thirst Trap, the second book in the Whisper Springs series. I enjoy Kimmy Loth's writing style; they are quick, fun books. I love how she builds the layers of all the characters throughout each book and each series. I originally read Whisper Springs' Starry Skies, Stolen Kisses, and My Best Friend's Brother, the first book, before I knew about the Michigan Millionaires series. Although there are connections between the two series, you do not need to read one to read the other. Still, I suggest it just because I love them both. She takes you on a journey with just enough need that you must read the next page or the next chapter, but she doesn't leave you hanging for too long. I love that with each book, you get a more thorough feeling of the landscape, and she has genuinely created a place that I want to go to and live!

Oh my goodness, I just love this large family! This is a bit of a vacation, but it's a detox from social media and work for Hannah. I liked her, and felt for her with how she doesn't exactly fit with the others that are at this hideaway camp. Then we have Levi. He's a bit quiet, but there's this hidden side of him that really warms you to him. These two have a pull to each other, and the little moments of jealousy that comes out brought a smile to my face. It's a great, clean read, but the story pulled me in and kept me enjoying these characters from start to finish. I am really looking forward to the next read in this series!

This Clean & Wholesome Romance is delightful. Hannah is a social media influencer and junkie. Her doctor advised her to take a break to destress before she had a heart attack. Whisper Springs Hideaway has an Internet-free plan, but she takes the next step and books as a no-electronics guest to learn that Levi the Lumberjack, her Tiktok video crush, is the resort's handyman.

This story is a member of the tame the wild beast trope. The lead male might even be an antihero, emotionally rotating between hot and cold. Thus, the story keeps moving and stays interesting. Ultimately, the couple finds enough common ground to make for a happily ever after. Overall, it's quite an interesting story.

Easy-to-read. Entertaining. Happily Ever After. Romantic. Unpredictable. Wonderful characters.

This was a sweet yet slightly angsty, fun & quick read. *There is no spice.* There are interrupted kisses, and secrets I wasn’t sure would be revealed.

This story is part of the Whisper Springs series!

The immersive town the author built is so fun- the book even includes a watercolor map of Whisper Springs. I also loved the found family aspect of the story.

Whisper Springs is a place I would love to visit and I hope to read more books set in this world. This is book 2 in the series of interconnected standalones that each focus on a different sibling’s love story. This read focuses on Levi and Hannah and is definitely on the sweeter side of the romance scale. Hannah is at Whisper Springs for a retreat to try and treat her social media addiction. While Levi is the resident fixit man and has a hatred for all things social media. They feel an immediate connection but end up trying to fight it all the way through due to their differences. A great opposites attract story!

3 ⭐️ This book was marginally better than the first in this series but barely. Levi was fine - a complex character with believable reasons for his anti-social media stance (and his family was so unapologetic for violating his privacy - ick and Levi caved like a pancake over a pothole). Hannah’s confidence and personality kept changing throughout the story and I was not a fan. This book was not enemies to lovers - more like insta attracted (both) but pretended not to be (Levi) to lovers eventually. I bought this series on my ereader through BookFunnel so I will trudge through them all eventually but this author is VERY easy to put down and walk away for months until I get in a book slump and decide to plow through another book or two of hers just to get them over with. Glutton for boring punishment, maybe. The Michigan millionaires started great. A few 5 and 4 ⭐️ reads but it got worse as the series progressed. Now the first two books in this spinoff series are meh at best. 😑

I voluntarily review an ARC.
This is the second book of a series. The books are standalones, but should be read in order.
I absolutely loved this book and read it in one day.
I loved the writing style, the world building and most of all the cute story.
The characters are relatable and have interesting family dynamics, the chemistry between Levi and Hannah is adorable and has the reader rooting for them.
Of course there are obstacles to fight and baggage to be dealt with.
I can't wait for the next awesome story.

If this book was supposed to make me feel better about influencers and social media, I can say with 100% certainty that it did not work.
Hannah is somehow both an idiot and manipulative.
Levi's sisters are the worst for putting him all over the internet without his permission and he forgives them way too easily.
Insta-love? Amidst all their issues and conflicting lifestyles? No.
I'll give it 1.5 stars since I managed to listen to the whole thing. I can't believe I wasted $0.99 on the audiobook.

I found this book surprisingly better than the first book in the series when it came to the storyline. Hannah and Levi had a story that was much more believable and likely to happen in my opinion. I enjoyed that she admitted to technology addiction and that there was a conversation with Terry regarding how to overcome the addiction and focus on what was important.
I've decided to continue on with the series, hoping that I don't regret it.

This is another quick read that helps boost those numbers!

Levi and Hanna are perfect for each other. This slow burn will have you holding your breath to find out what happens next. Once you starting engaging with this story, you will have a hard time putting it down. Whispering springs is a magical place that I wish I could visit. I cannot wait to continue to learn more about this amazing family and see what the future has in store for Whispering springs. If you haven't read the first book in the series be sure to check it out too!

Levi & Hannah

Social media. *sigh* I love so much about social media...mainly, that it lets me keep in touch with people I wouldn't be in touch with otherwise. And many other reasons. But I also agree with Levi about the damage social media can do. People can be so weird. It's absolutely a Conundrum.

Fun, light, and easy to enjoy. This book blends camp romance with a clever theme about social media and phone addiction. The story is sweet and entertaining while still offering a thoughtful look at how our phones shape relationships. A perfect pick when you want something playful with a modern twist.

Eh, it was fine. A good quick palette cleanser. Nothing spectacular though. There was some weird peppering of religion in there that didn't really fit. It seemed like an obligation or after thought. Either way it read in a different voice.

I liked this one as much as the first. The story wasn't as disjointed as the first but the not talking and assuming things and then assuming you'll get married after a couple of weeks is crazy business.
