When failed farmer, Jack Wilbur, finds his family has been butchered and skinned, he sets out on the hunt for the vicious mass-murderer, Vulture Rathbone. Along the way, he teams up with rabbi-turned-zombie hunter, Yishai ben Raziel; and the pair set off on a hunt that will leave bodies, gore and a lot of blood on the prairie.
This Splatter Western novella features graphic depictions of SA, gore, violence and dated cultural references. Reader discretion is advised!
I was sent an early copy of Blood On The Prairie by Jerry Blaze for an honest opinion! I have to say that Mr.Blaze keeps releasing fantastic books that never fail to amuse, entertain and horrify me. This is the story of the wild west, and a poor everyday man named Jacob who returns from working on the cattle drive to find a gnarly scene; he is out for revenge now, and boy, is he pissed! There's also a Jewish cowboy named Yishai, whom I found to be my favourite character in the book; he was a great friend and dropped a whole lot of delightful phrases throughout the book. Great story with fantastic characters solid 5/5. This one is out on December 3rd but is available for pre-order from November 14th, I seriously recommend it!!!
This Splatter Western hit the nail head on and was just so creative! Jerry’s mind is an endless sea of ideas and every new story release seems to exceed my expectations even further than the last!
Blood On the Prairie follows Jack as he’s finally made his way home from providing for his family. However, he quickly realizes that something is horribly wrong when he notices a vulture nailed to his front door with its innards hanging out. Once inside, his suspicions are confirmed and he’s devastated by the loss of his family. It’s at this moment that Jack is hellbent on getting vengeance for his family and killing this person who took his family from him.
Along the way we are introduced to Yishai who just so happens to be my favorite character in the story! Yishai wants to help Jack with his manhunt and help bring justice for his family.
Oh did I mention there’s an army of the undead in this midst of the storm?! Yeah… Splatter Western with ZOMBIES.
Guysssssss. You need this story in your lives ASAP. The story telling was phenomenal. The characters were all developed extremely well. The kills… BRUTAL as hell. You may even laugh in some parts of this story or I’m just really effed in the head. 🤪
Jerry Blaze does extreme horror, extreme erotica, and now extreme Western horror as well, and he excels in everything! "Blood On The Prairie" will easily appeal to all fans of the genre, but lovers of all things horror should also take a look: how can you not enjoy zombies, magic stones, creepy serial killers, and terrific scenes of graphic violence, in whatever setting? Well, duh! Blaze has written an easily visualizable revenge tale of supernatural horror with many sexual and emotional triggers: the plot revolves around gory killings of entire families, gruesome torture, and revolting villainy. At the same time, the warm male friendship of the two main characters, a husband who's lost his family to the killer and a former-Rabbi cowboy, sort of balances the otherwise bleak atmosphere with relatable banter and authentic heart. This is an entertaining ride through a Wild West that never was, and I highly recommend it!
I was sent an ARC of this from the author, this was my first introduction to Jerry Blaze and truthfully this was a fantastic splatter western, think of Red dead redemption undead nightmare in book form but times ten on the brutality scale, this one was sick and I couldn't have asked for a better introduction to this author if you like splatter westerns or just westerns in general, hell if you just like horror PICK THIS ONE UP
Jack returns home from a cattle drive to find his family brutally murdered and sets off to find the killer. On his travels. He meets up with a zombie hunter, and together they look for jack's family murderer and fight zombies on the way. A great horror Splatterpunk western.
This is my first splatter-western, I was excited to get started on this one. I wasn't positive this one would be a good fit for me, but I will have to check more of these out now.
Jack & Jenny Wilbur are making a life on their homestead. Jack has everything he needs.. A brother that helps watch the land while he’s away. His lovely wife and his twins. Jack has been herding cattle, but it's time for him to come on back home now.
I liked how the setting grabs you into the story. It made it really easy to read through it. Definitely one you can start and finish in one sitting. Loss, revenge, monsters & the undead.
Let me start by saying, I do not like to read western anything. Does not nor has it ever appealed to me BUT I will forever and always be a Blaze reader so of course I devour every single thing he puts out. I FUCKING LOVED THIS BOOK! It was intense from the get go and it broke my heart a few times but it was a wild ride. Lots of violence, lots of anger, lots of SA and yeah, kids are not spared either so those with triggers involving them should probably not read it. Other than that, buckle up because this one will drag you through the depths of hell before you can surface for a breath.
An everyday man comes back home to a devastating scene and is out for his revenge.
Another brilliant story from Jerry this man has no ends of talent when it comes to writing! A different sort of book for me but was a fun read all the same! Cannot rate this enough and it’s out on the 3rd!!! Go grab it now!
I've never read a Splatter Western, so I was going into this blind and I'm glad I did. Pure freaking insanity, death and bloody carnage everywhere, I can't believe how hardcore this book got.
This book is so good! I actually waited to read this until my day off because I knew I'd spend the majority of it reading this one.
This book starts off like a usual western book - with a man coming home and eager to see his family again after a long couple weeks out on the trail. When he comes home, that's where the book really begins the chaotic journey. There are so many twists and turns in this book - I absolutely love the fact that there's a rabbi zombie hunter that joins our main character along the way!
The world building and attention to detail is, as always with a Jerry Blaze book, unmatched! If you love intense brutality and where a world of chaos, you will love this book! Definitely a book I'll have to read again!
A man is away working,, and comes home to his worst nightmare. A walking evil nightmare has murdered his brother and family in the most barbaric way. He seeks out to wreak vengeance and comes across a unlikely comrade along the way. Gruesome scenes of murder and torture aplenty song with a legion of the undead before the inevitable showdown
This was my first Jerry Blaze, and I'm impressed with his quality writing. Also, this was my first splatter western. The only westerns I've read were McCarthy and Pollack, I think. But I really enjoyed this, it was like an old west nightmare, a visceral and brutal read through a zombie filled wasteland. I'll definitely read more from Jerry, judging by this book he is a really good writer!
