Rate this book
Diane's easy to understand tips will help you become a power user. Packed with hundreds of time and money saving tips for PC and Apple users, this book will quickly pay for itself. Tips include basic keyboard shortcuts, recommendations on free or low cost software, back up strategies, Facebook and Google hints as well as how to use popular features of Microsoft's powerful Word, Excel and Outlook programs. Diane has been teaching people how become more effective computer users for over 25 years. In that time she has taught over 100,000 students. She earns her unofficial title, Certified Patient Person, every day. Participants in her classes often remark about the amazing tips that Diane McKeever includes in her presentations and ask where they could read about more about them. Sadly, up until now, she could not recommend a specific book, so she decided to write one herself. Diane started by writing a blog, 100ComputerTipsIn100Days.blogspot.com, challenging herself to come up with 100 tips in 100 days. She wrote the 100 tips in 100 days and then just kept on writing. Currently the total is more than 130 with additional tips being added all the time. Diane took the top 100 tips, reorganized and expanded on them, and created this book, "100 Amazing Computer Tips". Her classes have always been informative, entertaining, and, most importantly, not boring. Her writing style reflects her teaching approach and is clear and easy to follow. As a consultant to many Fortune 50 companies she has brought employees through the transitions from Wang word processing machines to PCs and Apple computers. Over the years she has helped people navigate the many versions of the popular computer programs. As a bonus, tips cards are included in the book. These can be copied and kept near the computer to help make you a more effective computer user. Diane and her husband Ed live in a boating community in Osprey, Florida where she is hard at work on her next title, "Amazing Windows 8.1 Tips" to help all of those who are confused by Microsoft's latest operating system. Get started now with "100 Amazing Computer Tips"; computers, in their many forms, are here to stay.

100 Amazing Computer Tips by Diane McKeever Outstanding advice and practical shortcuts for any computer user! With a friendly contents list, a quick reference guide, and appendices the reader can find answers to computer challenges for every day use and the once in a while need. I will keep this handy tool by my computer from now on. Along with savvy tips, Diane includes some fun items like making word clouds (buy the book!). This is an easy to understand guide for newbies and pros. Most tips are one to two pages long in a great font size with examples on the sidebar. She goes into further detail with Microsoft Word and Excel topics. One can read through briefly to get an overview and then select particular pages to return to later on. The best way to use this book is to implement the tips while sitting with your computer.
I absolutely recommend 100 Amazing Computer Tips!

I received a copy of this book from the author through a contest. This is my honest review. Thank you, Diane and Conny Withay

The author’s teaching experience is evident in this book. The book layout is ideal for a reference volume. Each tip is about a page long and is direct and fully explained.

There will be dozens of new revelations for most computer users. It covers simple tasks such as how to accurately insert a horizontal line in a document to improving the speed of your computer. One-page reference sheets include all-code reference sheets for both PC and Apple users; among other things, a letter accent or a Greek letter can be added at a glance.

Tips on free programs and how to get them include anti-virus programs, alternative programs for Microsoft Office, a photo organizer, cloud storage, and free fonts. Most computer users can benefit from at least one of these.

Clear, concise, and informative. For those who use a computer at least once a day, it could be a valuable resource to buy.

I received this book as a first reads winner.
At first glance I was afraid this would be too basic for me. And I would say about half of the book was information I already knew. However, I did learn from the Word and Excel sections of the book. I think it is too basic for most professional computers, but for people who use computers in their work, it is helpful.
I really loved the layout of the book and the appendices. I think though that the example graphics and appendix print were both too small, especially for a reader with vision trouble. Overall I think this book is a great reference for everyday computer users and I plan to recommend it to some of the less experienced users in my life.
