Daniel Radcliffe: The Biography

Rate this book
The true story of the Half-Blood Prince who has become a fullblooded actor and level-headed young adult Danielle Radcliffe went from shy schoolboy to the world's most famous boy wizard overnight. Just 10 when he won the iconic role of Harry Potter, Daniel has often had to beat his own demons as he met the challenge of combining childhood with being a child star. No one could have envisaged just how huge Harry Potter would be, or how dramatically life-changing it would be for the little boy teachers once wrote off as having no prospects. Daniel won the part out of a staggering 16,000 boys who auditioned. Now it is hard to believe that anyone but him could have ever played the role. Daniel became a film legend before he was out of his teens. In a bid to detach himself from being simply the boy with a wand, he bravely took on projects which were often controversial and challenging—but never dull. His courage at diversifying has won him a new army of fans. Now established as a leading young actor with a fame that is literally worth a fortune, having managed to conquer drinking issues, he is wiser, happier, and looking forward to a future of fulfilled dreams and ambition.

I was really looking forward to reading this, being a massive fan of Harry Potter but found this unengaigng. I ended up skim reading the last 6 chapters.

It told me the untold story of becoming Daniel Radcliffe, an actor of the film legend, Harry Potter series. It shared the story of how the right man happened to be in the right place in the right time.
Despite of his fame from his role as Harry Potter, there was much he wanted to prove. He want to escape from the shadows of the wizard boy that made him took on projects which were often controversial. He want people to see him as an actor who played wizard boy, not a wizard boy who played as an actor.
Overall, i like this book. It's the first time i read a book of biography. I thought that it would be bored but then i know that i was wrong :)

Was definitely interesting and learnt lots about Dan I didn't know, but was quite repetitive and was written a bit like a school essay

I would love to give this book 5 stars however due to a chapter coming up which didn't make any sense I can't . I'm not saying that this chapter wasn't needed but It would of been better if it was a bit earlier when it was end of Harry potter . On the hand I really loved the book . I found it really funny at times and really interesting book to read . I would love to recommend this book to be honest I still would if you would get over just of bad organisation.

My first real biography, whilst I much prefer stories it was really interesting to read about 'behind the scenes' information about both Daniels life and the making of Harry potter. A must read for any potter fan

I thought this book did a great job of giving you a real look into the life of Daniel, not just as an actor but also as an individual.

***Any fans of the Harry Potter series or Daniel Radcliffe should read this***
As a big admirer of Daniel Radcliffe, this book was a wish come true! This Amazing book explores his working life, both in Broadway and on camera, looking into Harry Potter, Kill Your Darlings, The Woman in Black, My Boy Jack, the December Boys, a Young Doctor's Notebook, also mentioning Extras, Horns and Frankenstein & future proposals. whilst informing me of Dan's success, I also discovered Dan the person & was surprised (but delighted!) to learn of the number of charities he supports and is associated with - making me love the actor, and person, even more!
- minus 0.5 stars for the occasional disorganised writing style. The narration flicked in some places back and forth and wasn't necessarily in chronological order 100% of the time.

I have always loved the boy wizard, Harry Potter and I think Daniel Radcliffe was perfect for the part. So when I saw this book, I was interested. I found it very mediocre and most of the things in the book, I already knew so I started skimming it. Of course a biography of someone in their 20s does not tell the whole story!

I was disappointed in a number of things in his life, but I love Harry Potter so I gave it a try. I think he's a good actor, just wish he didn't feel the need to prove it so much. I guess many actors probably feel that way though.

Such an interesting read. It was amusing and intriguing to read about his life, outside the world of Harry Potter. I'd recommend this book to any Potter fan. It didn't bore me for one second. So I'm giving it a 4/5 **** Super! Would definitely re-read.
