The Last Djinn

Rate this book
Protect the weak. Kill the monster. Fight to live.

My name is Sheena May, and I’m done running. Insidious yellow eyes lock onto the secrets of my magic, and my former best friend shows up with a bombshell that could ruin us all, leaving me to figure out if I’m really the weapon my enemies think I am.

Circled by wolves and hunters, doubt gnaws at me. I want to trust everyone who stands at my side, but life has taught me the danger of forgiveness. I can't survive another betrayal, especially not at the hands of my first love.

In fairy tales, love always wins. But this is real life, and I’ve never had so much to lose. Hands dripping blood, heart sliced to ribbons, I search the stars for an answer to the only question I have left.

What if I was born to burn it down?

The Last Djinn book 3 of the Lost Legacy series, a completed paranormal romance trilogy set in Alana Kay’s Legacy Universe. Expect an emotional tone, expansive worldbuilding, and a mix of fast-burn and slow-burn romance with multiple love interests, some of whom also fall for each other.

ALANA KAY is a romance author with a soft spot for imperfect heroes, tough heroines, and steamy love stories. She made her debut into paranormal romance in 2024 with her novel The Last Wish (Lost Legacy Book One) and completed the trilogy in February 2025.

Alana Kay fell for romance novels in the early aughts after sneaking bodice rippers from her mom’s dog-eared collection of paperbacks. A big believer in happy endings, she likes her love scenes on page, her adventures nonstop, and her magic off the rails. When she’s not typing feverishly, she’s either snuggling with her dog, cats, or husband in sunny Los Angeles or impulsively signing up for a sporting event she’s not nearly athletic enough to commit to.

Author of the completed Lost Legacy series, including The Last Wish, The Last Dream, and The Last Djinn. Her in-progress Radiant Legacy series releases its fourth and final book, Eternal Light, in June 2026.

This was a completely satisfying wrap up!!

If you're team hate Quaid---buckle up.

It's so unusual for a trilogy to stay strong all the way through. The Last Djinn did not disappoint at all. If anything, the series kept getting stronger as it went along. This book wove together all the relationships between Sheena and her guys so well. We also got some hilarious scenes of the dynamics between all the guys. Idris remains my favorite. I love an old soul. I want a t shirt about constructing a sandwich.

As far as setting and plot-it's all fresh. No tired tropes. I've never read any paranormal series that featured a genie/djinn character and exploring the power dynamics of that made for some intense drama.

I'm so glad the trilogy is finished, the wait was worth it!!!

What a incredible showing from a new author. The Last Djinn is the conclusion of Kay’s first trilogy and it doesn’t disappoint. I feel in love with all of these characters and just couldn’t put the books down for long.

Kay is redefining the level of writing and editing we should expect from fantasy romance. I can’t wait for what she brings us next!

Loved this story, it was a bit different from the norm which was great. The mix of characters was fun, and the jokes and pranks with the guys made me laugh. Can’t wait to read the next spin off

Ughh this was so good!!! It’s hard to say goodbye to these characters - by the end I was in love with all of them. I can’t get enough of our girl getting to have all the love she deserves. And many more dates in the hedge (iykyk) 😉

Brilliant

This book was bloody brilliant! I literally couldn’t put it down, I love the plot of the book, I love how well written the book was. But most of all, I loved the characters and how great it was that the bad guys got their comeuppance in the end

Probably my least favourite of the series but it was still enjoyable.

What I loved:
- the FMC guarded her heart and made Quaid work for it
- the relationship between the guys was great. They all really come through and support each other
- the smut and group scenes were fun and felt authentic to the characters

What I didn't love:
- the FMC made some really stupid impulsive decisions. Seeing her develop from a smart, cautious survivor in Book 1 to who she became in this book was disappointing.
- lots of things were left unresolved and the existence of other Djinn is never fully explored
- Idris didn't get much solo time with her compared to the other guys
- Quaid being a human means he won't live as long (I think??) but it's never truly addressed. No one ever talks about the future or long term plans.
- the ending was quite abrupt, even with the cute epilogue. I also would have liked to see more of a setup for the next series with Ciprian.

i think this one fell short a little bit for me because the romance dynamics were more or less already established. one thing i think this book did much better in were the spice scenes. in general i think this series is ridiculously underrated!

This final book truly brought everything together in the best possible way.
I absolutely love that Quaid finally understands — deeply and clearly — that he owes her. The way he left her before was so strange and painful. He kept trying to kill her, over and over again, and yet it was always obvious that he couldn’t actually go through with it. The internal battle between what he thought he should do and what he felt in his heart was intense to watch. At some point it’s just: listen to your heart, bro. Seeing him slowly come to terms with his feelings and his guilt was incredibly satisfying.
Another thing I loved was how all the boys are finally aligned. No unnecessary rivalry, no pointless tension — just unity. They’re on the same page, and that page says: protect her. The loyalty, the teamwork, the shared purpose — it makes everything feel stronger and emotionally grounded. Their dynamic feels solid now, like they’ve truly chosen each other as allies.
And Callum… this book made me feel for him in a way I hadn’t before. You only now begin to understand how deeply rooted his family issues really are. There’s more pain there, more history, more emotional weight than it first seemed. It adds so much depth to his character. That being said — and maybe this sounds harsh — I wasn’t exactly devastated that his dad died. In the grand scheme of things, it felt like the better loss compared to what else could have happened.
The emotional stakes were higher than ever. The relationships felt earned, the conflicts meaningful, and the growth real.
And knowing that this was the final book — and that we get a true HEA — made it even more powerful. After everything they went through — the betrayal, the confusion, the near-death moments, the emotional chaos — they earned that happiness. It didn’t feel easy. It felt fought for. Seeing them finally reach peace and stability after everything was deeply satisfying.
A strong, emotional ending that truly delivers a well-deserved happily ever after.

Still reading but at 19% in, this is the 3rd time I've had to stop myself from phsycially screaming.

At this point the plotholes are so unbearably large I'm not sure I'll even get all the way through this book.

So I made it through the book but yeesh.

I occasionally grew frustrated with the lack of common sense -- like why couldn't they use a wish to pinpoint Lysander's location on a map or to summon him to an ambush -- but overall, I liked this book.
Sheena was independent without being stupid. I loved Callum, Gideon, and Idris before, but Quaid definitely stepped up and overcame my frustration with him in the last book.

I'll read the upcoming series, because Ciprian and Allistair were some of the best characters in this series. I'm assuming the FMC will be the redhead with the wings?

What a powerful ending to the trilogy! Sheena really came into her own and kicked ass - such incredible growth from the frightened runaway she was in the first book. The childhood friends-to-enemies-to-lovers arc was so good. I loved the whole thing. Oh, and it has primal hide & seek. What more could you ask for?

This series was refreshing! I was starting to get sad from not finding too many more fantasy reverse harems after reading the main ones. Found this one randomly, and it was great! I loved the world and characters! It was interesting how the harem was built over time. The FMC grew so much; I was so proud of her. Good spice! The balance was good between spice and plot.

As a rule, any book that gives a villain the POV needs to provide depth to the character. Lysander’s classic “I just want it all” villainy was boring. The epilogue felt rushed as hell. But overall I liked the justice for the women and I’m happy for the healing in Callum’s family. Ciprian is a fun character but idk if I’m reading his whole series when this is low key shallow.

The Last Djinn, book three of the Lost Legacy series, is an ebook I borrowed through Kindle Unlimited (KU). What a terrific wrap up to this series. I was constantly, and pleasantly, surprised by all the plot twists. The characters and the world-building were great.

A satisfying conclusion!

It was good to see Sheena really come into her own. The relationship between all of the MCs did feel authentic and the dynamic between the group worked.

I thought the plot wrapped up well and Sheena was able to get her revenge.

A really enjoyable series

This was a good book with a good ending, I’m extremely satisfied.
Everyone had a lot more personality than last book, I believe it was too much of a filler, now this one was a lot lore decisive.
