She was never supposed to be mine.
Walking away was the only acceptable decision.

It was just one night. Two lonely souls finding solace in the one place we shouldn’t have—my bed.
I thought once would be enough, but leaving her is my biggest—maybe my only—regret.
Now, I’m back and seeing the results of that night is killing me.
I’ll make it up to her. I have to. Because I’ve never loved anyone else.
Because I’d rather die than break her heart a second time.
But when duty calls, I swore an oath to listen.
And I know…
There will be no coming back this time.

Oathbreaker was a wonderful read.
We've reached the end of the Gamebreakers series, it was a good journey through pain, protection, love and family.
Kat Mizera and Elise Faber made an egregious work tying all the loose ends in this last novel, their writing style and the flow are good and the entire series was well planned.

Colt came back from the dead and he's hellbent on making up for lost time and winning back his brothers and sister's affection. It won't be an easy task, because everyone moved on and tried to overcome the great heartbreak of losing a family member, especially Briar who's finally chosen to open up to another man.

Briar and Colt story packs an emotional punch. They are perfect together, but their time is always wrong. They have suffered a lot, so I wished for them to find their happyness.
I loved Briar, she is amazing, she loves with her whole heart, and she'll do anything to keep her special family together. At first I wasn't too wild about Colt, he seems selfish, but reading his journey I understood he is only a lost soul who needs to be feel loved and to find his place in the world.

You won't regret picking this book up. It can be read as a standalone, but to really understand these characters predicament I recommend to also read the previous books in the series.

Oathbreaker By Kat Mizera and Elise Faber is book five in their Gamebreakers series and what an emotional story the authors have given us to bring this series to a conclusion. We are back with Atlas, Dash, Royal, Banks and Briar. This is a second chance romance between Briar Dash and Colton Blackwood. We have been waiting for Briar’s story and finding out what happened between her and Colt. Throughout the series there were teasers about the identity of Frankie’s father and we were teased with the idea Colt was alive in the previous book. Now everything is revealed and we get to see how everyone copes with the shocking and surprising news. A story full of secrets and lies, broken promises and betrayal, guilt and heartbreak. Will they forgive Colt and let him back in their group. Can he win back Briar or is he too late?

Briar is Dash’s sister and five years ago she was heartbroken when Colt died. She had fallen in love with him the first time her brother Dash brought him home. She has never loved a man like she did Colt and mourned his lost although she had an adorable reminder of him. He appears to her at his graveside and Briar is hurt, angry, confused and can’t believe he’s back. Although she’s stunned, she is relieved that he is actually alive but can’t believe the state he is in. She reluctantly offers him her help and agrees to hide him from the guys while he heals. They have always protected her but will her revelations break the special bond she has with the guys.

Colt explains how he was recruited to a Black Ops unit but had no idea they were told he had died. We learn about his mission, where he has been and the nightmare he has been through.
His story is sad and one filled with pain but through it all his love for her kept him going. He was determined to stay alive to tell Briar he loved her because to him she was always his girl. He has missed more than he realised and has to cope with the fact he is a father.

The guys are the only family he has really known so he is desperate to repair the damage he has unknowingly caused. The guys have moved on and are all in serious relationships he knows nothing about. Colt has to face their reactions to his sudden appearance. Banks is confused, Royal intrigued, Atlas is mad and Dash is hurt and can’t understand what is going on especially when it becomes obvious he is Frankie’s father. Colt has a hard time repairing his friendship with the guys who have been grieving for five years and even named their club after him. They feel betrayed over his actions and have different ways of dealing with his return. Banks and Royal forgive him but the other two have a harder time accepting he is back.

Poor Briar was finally moving on and building a relationship with Bank’s teammate West but now her life has been turned upside down. She finds herself with the man she thought she’d lost back and a new man who wants to be her future. She tries to do what is right so who will she choose? Colt is struggling with the guilt of walking away from her and the family he would have had. Can he work out how is he going to win her back and repair the damage he has caused to Frankie.

My heart went out to West who had shown Briar nothing but patience and kindness throughout their relationship. He had been amazing, trying to persuade her she could trust him and showing her how much he loved her although he was always battling a ghost. Now that ghost is real what will he do? I know we are going to get West’s story in Chasing Love but I found Igor fascinating so I hope we get his.

Will she let Colt back into her life so he can fight for his family or is he too late? Will Dash accept his best friend being with his sister? Will their love overcome everything or will he let everyone down again? There is so much guilt, anger and heartbreak to sort through as this couple finally get the HEA they were always meant to have.

Oathbreaker is the last installment in the Gamebreaker series. Such a phenomenal ending to even an amazing story.

Briar finally gets her story and she shines. She has been such a wonderful character. And we finally see how she is as a mother, sister and lastly as a partner. She is in for a surprise when the love of her life shows up. And now she must navigate everything from telling her over protective brothers that the man she has always love is back. And with that secrets will be reveal and lots of healing with the friend group turned into family.

Colt is back. And he is ready to get everything he left behind. Including his best friend’s little sister Briar. They will go through all the emotions when things are finally out in the open. He will do everything to make things right. Not only with Briar but also with his brothers. You’ll see all the highs and lows with this group of guys.

This story will have you laughing, smiling and crying. Such an incredible series and I’m sad to say goodbye to this wonderful group of characters.

Arc was provided for honest review.

Oathbreakers😳

Wow, this is the final book in the Gamebreakers series and I have truly enjoyed every single story🙌 My only complaint is that the covers do not do the stories justice. I usually pick books by the blurbs and covers and had I not already started reading the series when the covers changed - I’m not sure I would’ve picked these books up…which would be a travesty😢

Back to the story…suffice to say this is Briar’s story and you are going to want to read it😍 It has a twist in it, that I didn’t see coming until the authors wanted us to know about it at the end of the fourth book. Very well done by the authors👏

4.25stars-OATHBREAKER is the fifth and final instalment in the contemporary, adult GAMEBREAKERS erotic, romance series focusing on a tight knit group of friends held together but a common loss, co-authored by Kat Mizera and Elise Faber. This is US Marine and Special Ops agent Colt Blackwood, and single mother Briar Dash’s story line. OATHBREAK can be read as a stand alone but for backstory and cohesion, I recommend reading the series in order as each instalment builds towards the series finale. Briar is Hudson Dash’s sister DEALBREAKER #3.

NOTE: For followers of the authors, there is a slight cross over with Elise Faber’s EAGLES HOCKEY / OAK RIDGE VINEYARD series.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Colt and Briar) OATHBREAKER follows in the wake of the return of Colt Blackwood, a man long thought dead and lost. Approximately five years earlier, Colt Blackwood reenlisted, doing one final op for the US Marines but our hero disappeared without a trace, and was declared dead by the US government. Fast forward to present day, Colt’s return comes with mixed feelings and emotions for everyone, especially for the woman he has never stopped loving. Briar Dash had been struggling to move on with her life, but eventually would find a new man to love, preparing for a future with someone else but Colt’s return sends everyone into a spiral, even his best friends are struggling with his perceived secrets and lies.

The world building focuses on the return of Colt Blackwood, and the rebuilding relationships and friendships in the wake of grief and lost. Perceived betrayal sits at the root of his broken friendships, but none more-so than his love for a woman who has moved on with her life.

The relationship between Colt and Briar is one of second chances in the face of shock and anger. Colt is hoping to restart with the woman he has never stopped loving but Briar is struggling with five years of loss. The chemistry between our couple remains strong but the heartbreak and hurt may be too large to overcome. The sex scenes are intimate and provocative without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful, familiar and determined secondary and supporting characters including the return of all of the previous story line couples. We are introduced to professional hockey player and Banks teammate West McGregor, whose story continues in CHASING LOVE (PUCKS AND PENALTIES #2).

OATHBREAKER is a story of secrets and lies, perceived betrayal and heart break, loss and grief, family and friendships, forgiveness and love. The character driven premise is emotional, dramatic and edgy; the romance is fated and passionate; the characters are desperate, dynamic and a little bit broken.

Oathbreaker is the fifth, and final, boo k in the Gamebreakers series and we finally get some answers we have been wondering about through all of the books.

Briar is the little sister of the family that was made of misfits. All of the guys look out for her and try to take care of her and Frankie, her daughter. She and Dash were raised in a dysfunctional family and she always swore she would give her child everything they did not have. And together with Atlas, Dash, Royal and Banks, she has.

Colt played hockey in college with the guys. He and Dash joined the marines after college. When it was time to get out, he joined a special operations group without anyone's knowledge. Because of the type of group he enlisted in, lies were told, information was withheld and hearts were broken.

It has been five long years since the brothers and Briar were told that Colt died. Every year, on his birthday, they celebrate Colt. But this year is different. After the birthday celebration, everyone goes their separate way. But letting sleeping dogs lie is not in the cards for this group of self made family.

When ghosts from your past appear out of nowhere, what are you to think? And what do you do about all of the secrets you have been keeping? And what do you do about the relationship you have finally let yourself get in to? These are all questions that Briar must ask herself. All while trying to decide if she still loves Colt or hates him.

Colt is back. He is in very rough shape after everything he has gone through during the last five years. But he is back to claim his woman. Little does he know what else he will be claiming. Or how his sudden appearance will affect his brothers.

But when his former handler comes calling for his help, will he break his promises and all of the progress he has made with everyone? He has a debt of honor to repay, but will it cost him everything?

Oathbreaker provides so many answers about Colt. Plus we get Briar's story. Do they coincide? Maybe.

This book has so many emotions. Anger, resentment, fear, love, longing, and denial. But there are also so many what if's. After five years, these people will need to figure out how to move on from the what if's and deal with the what is. Hindsight is always 20/20, but you can't change the past. All you can do is move on.

I enjoyed seeing Grim and Rage in this story. Especially the conversation between Grim and Colt in the cargo transport. Such good life advice was given.

I will admit, that I now need to know Igor's story. I am hoping that we will get one more story from these authors that details Igor, from college hockey to where he ended up in this story, to maybe a happily ever after.

A bittersweet finale

Gamebreakers has been one of my favourite series since reading Icebreaker, and now the finale is here and it's bittersweet saying goodbye to the amazing characters Kat Mizera and Elise Faber have created. OATHBREAKER is a second chance, single mum, found family, starting over romance which was filled with acceptance, understanding, and love.

Briar Dash had spent the last five years mourning the only man she had ever loved. Time had come to move on and that's just what she was doing with West, a man who adored her. Then everything changed ... Colt Blackwood was back. Once again Briar's life was about to change, as was Frankie's, her daughter. Colt, still deeply in love with Briar, was no longer the man he once was, his last four years had changed him, learning his story broke my heart and tears flowed. Colt had suffered terribly; he was strong though and his love for Briar was the only thing that kept him going. Now that he was back, he was going to fight for Briar and the child he knew nothing about. Will love win out or is Colt too late to reclaim the woman he always thought of as his?

The Gamebreakers series has been about friendship, the loyalty, the camaraderie, the found family, and the love that was shared between five men. They were once a band of brothers and with the disappearance of Colt they only grew closer. Colt's return affected everyone in different ways, Banks and Roman's acceptance was immediate, but Dash and Atlas were hurt and angry. Pain, disbelief, and healing were important to the acceptance of Colt's return.

OATHBREAKER was the perfect finale to this incredible series. A found family finally reunited after years of only memories and grief. I loved this book and the entire series, the emotions, the characters, the friendships, the love, everything ensuring a story that won't be forgotten. Kat Mizera and Elise Faber are the perfect collaboration, and I can only hope they write more together.

This is the final piece of the puzzle for the Gambreakers and it’s a heartbreaker.

Colt has been the long deceased best friend to Dash (Briar’s brother) and a brother to all. His reemergence is a startling reality for all of them but more so for Briar and Frankie.

Colt shows himself first to Briar at his gravesite. After the initial shock, she notices he is severely injured and takes him home to recover and hide him until he is well enough to face his brothers. As time passes and Colt relays his story about the choice he made and what happened to him, Briar struggles to understand and is not sure about and allowing him in her life again. She has finally moved on dating and falling for a wonderful man but she’s not sure how to deal with having both men in her life. The love of her life she thought she lost and the possible new love for her future.

As Colt heals, he is faced with all the changes to his family’s lives as well as the presence of new additions. The biggest shock is that he has a daughter. Understanding the truth, the fact that his past kept him from his brothers, and he’s missed Briar’s and his daughter’s life is a hard pill to swallow. He has so much anger and regret. To make it up to all of them, he promises to be there and take it one day at a time and to never leave them again. But Colt’s past just can’t stay in the past and this new choice just might take away everything he has gained.

The devil is in the details in this book. Colt’s change from the beginning to the end was amazing to read. But the best thing for me was Briar’s growth. She really matures in this book. These authors really made me question everything about this couple.

They manage this homecoming with the utmost care. Their writing brings you all the feels for each character’s pain at losing Colt and what they are feeling with him suddenly back in their lives - especially Frankie. I’m glad that relationship wasn’t instant and he had to work for it.

A beautiful ending to an outstanding series. After I recover (lol) I’ll start thinking about what they have in store next!! Maybe we get a hint at the end or maybe not…we’ll see.

If you have been following the Gamebreaker series, this is the perfect, and unexpected, ending you are going to love. Oathbreaker by Elise Faber and Kat Mizera put's the period behind “the end”.

Throughout this series, we have always felt the presence of the friend that passed too soon, The sorry the stress, the longing the pain etc. So, what happens when he comes back?

Colt is the friend everyone loved, He is the one they also all missed, A hero and leader he was always the one that stepped in when needed. His Oath guided and directed him. But life has a way of challenging that many will never understand. Colt’s battles have been severe and continuous. But the one thing that has been evident, the one constant that has motivated him even in his most dire situations, were memories held close to the heart.

Briar is no one's push over. Strong, driven, and loved by all, she has been the site and reason for many successes within this group of friends (Gamebreakers that is) Finding happiness was not something she searched for but found her anyway. Even then, she still battled internally. Sometimes the hurting heart is the last to release its sadness. And just when you are ready to address moving on, a surprise appears at your door?

Meshed in with all these questions stand a little soul that will steal your heart even more. She is bossy, she is smart and she is bold. And she is 4 ¾ years old. Make sure you remember that ¾ too.

Don’t let the title fool you. Oathbreaker has many moving parts. It pulls you along sometimes and the next thing you know, you are being pushed. These ladies do a great job of keeping you wondering. But rest assured, they also wrap it nicely in a great package ending and give you that warm feeling you were looking for.

Great job ladies and well worth all the stars.

What an utterly satisfying way to end what has been an amazing series. It's a splendid thing to finally see all the Gamebreakers finally achieve their happily ever afters, and it was sheer genius on the author's part to end it with Colt and Briar's story.

I'd always noticed how mentions of Colt and his importance to the Gamebreakers kept popping up throughout the series. His death and the impact it left on the men had always been a point of heaviness whenever it was mentioned. Likewise, all throughout the series the question of Frankie's paternity had always been left unanswered. Now, in this final book of the series, all those questions and uncertainties have been finally laid to rest.

By the end of the last book where Colt finally made his surprising and unexpected comeback, I've been eager to find out how his reappearance would be taken in by his closest friends. And with Briar finally opening her heart to another man, I'd wondered as well how that would play out now that Colt was back in her life. As I found out the answers as I read the book, I couldn't be more satisfied at the way the story finally played out. Colt's confrontation with his friends - especially Dash - had been heart-wrenching, and my heart went out to West during that heartbreaking moment between he and Briar. It was quite the experience feeling at the exact same time happiness for one set of characters and a deep sense loss for another.ñ Thankfully, I had the wonderful reassurance that West was going to find love again, and we're getting that in the authors' next series!

I was granted a free review copy of this book. I write this review voluntarily.

The final Gamebreakers book and the one we have been waiting for! We have loved this group of men bound by their early days playing hockey together in college and now providing family to each other after the passing of their friend, Colt.
Briar has always been at the heart of the Gamebreakers. As the sister of Dash, she also has been raising her daughter, Frankie, on her own and with a lot of help from the Gamebreaker men and their women.
When Briar visits the grave of Colt on the anniversary of his death, she is surprised to see him come from the woods, beaten and worn down. (NO spoiler here, We all know it's coming!)
Colt is the great love of Briar's life and he feels the same way towards her, but seven years of thinking he was dead and she was just now branching out enough to look for love. West is on her brother's hockey team and they have been dating exclusively for a short time when Colt reappears in everyone's life. (I really only mention this because I have a sneaky suspicion that West is going to show up on the new Atlanta team!!)
The sudden reappearance of Colt, along with his reasons for disappearing seven years ago are hard on the Gamebreaker men, with each of them having to come to peace with what has happened and finding a way to move forward. Along with that, they soon learn that Briar and Colt had been together before the disappearance and now are trying to make their new relationship work.

This was a great way to bring everyone back together in the Gamebreaker's group and celebrate the return of Colt. Their dedication to each other and his memory over the past seven years has helped them grow and find love.

Oathbreaker

What Rollercoaster Ride!!! What An Ending!!!!

When I started Oathbreaker, I was prepared for a softer, but steady progress to tie up what has been a terrific series.

The brotherhood that forms the backbone of this series has always been tight but there was always someone missing. The five soul brothers were reduced to four, when one decided to honour his oath to his country over all else. The worst that could happen appeared to have happened. The four brothers made a concerted effort to keep Colt alive in their memories. They didn't know that a part of Colt was present in their lives. As they moved on in their lives, Briar was being left behind.

Briar is now in place where she has decided to move on and make a life for both her and her daughter, Frankie. She will always have a strong tie to her past and a love that she can't let go. It is a case of a little angst but a need to make different and difficult decisions.

Out of nowhere, 'said' someone reappears and turns everything on its collective head. Colt returns. Everything that can hit the fan does. Hurt, resentment, surprise, and bitterness to name a few.

Colt hasn’t moved on. He has held the memories close. He has to work to become her go-to partner. As Briar and Colt work on their relationship, there are lessons that we can all learn about the path to relationship building and granting trust and gratitude.

I wanted to write a book report. Instead, I am going to recommend that you support the authors and buy the book. Get some snacks, a glass of your favourite libation, and a book nook. Read this amazing end to the Gamebreaker series.

Oathbreaker marks the end of the Gamebreakers series, and I was so excited at the end of #4 when I realized that not only was Colt actually alive, but he was the guy Briar had never gotten over, and little Frankie's father!

This book hit a lot differently than the other ones. It is a wonderful second-chance romance, but it's more intense in the way that Colt is back from the dead, having spent the past five years with his friends believing he was dead. There's a delicate balance here as he tries to reclaim his life, reclaim the love he lost with Briar, who has since been raising their daughter on her own. And just as she begins dating for the first time since Frankie was born (poor West!), that's when Colt reappears in her life, and totally upends it!

I really liked the struggle that both Briar and Colt went through in trying to reconcile their past with their present, and then navigating how to be together in the present. The authors did a great job with that, as well as how they scripted the reactions of the other guys when Colt resurfaced. Their belief that he was dead was out of his control, and all the guys had varying reactions that fit their personalities perfectly.

While I was sad to say goodbye to the Gamebreaker family, I loved that preview for Kat Mizera & Elise Faber's next collab, knowing that West will be rewarded with his own book after backing out gracefully so Briar and Colt could figure their stuff out!

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

This was a good read for me. I got hooked from the beginning of the story, until the end.

Colt joined some special ops group and was out on a mission rescuing someone when he got caught and was held hostage for five years. His family was told that he died. So, for five years they were morning him. Now his back and he knows he has a lot to make up for. But it's easier said than done.

The woman (Briar) he loves has moved on and his ‘brothers’ have all got their own families. And looks like he is in for another surprise.

This story made me so anxious. I just felt so bad for Colt. Everyone was so mad at him and he was still recovering from his injuries. But I liked that he was so patient and even when it wasn’t his fault he gave them their space to get over their hurt.

Briar had such a hard time with him being back. She was happy to have him back, but also so angry that he didn’t tell them what he was going to do. There was so many emotions and feelings to deal with. This family was so close, (if you had read the previous books) and all Briar wanted was to keep their family together.

I enjoyed their journey. They had so much to deal with and my heart was breaking for poor West, who Briar was seeing and started to fall in love with, until Colt made his appearance. But he was such a great person, he knew that he didn’t stand a chance with Briar and Colt’s past!

Everything about this story will have you anxious to see how Briar and Colt handle being back in each other’s lives 😊

Briar is ready to move on and at Colt's gravesite to say a final goodbye to the love of her life when Colt steps out of the shadows. After the initial shock of seeing Colt alive, Briar sees he is injured and moves him into her home until he is strong enough to face his brothers. Briar struggles with how Colt is back and whether to allow him back into her life. Briar is also struggling with her feelings for the new man in her life, West, and the feelings of love for Colt she has harbored since she was a teenager. As Colt heals, he struggles to come to grips with all the changes that have taken place in his brother's lives. Colt's biggest regret is not being a part of Briar's life and being Frankie's daddy. How will the brothers react when they learn Colt is alive, and where he has been? Will Briar give Colt a second chance? Will Frankie accept Colt as her daddy? Will Briar understand when Colt leaves to go save the friend who helped him escape from the Russian prison where he was being held? Will Briar finally read all the letters Colt wrote her and understand he truly loved her and planned to come back to her? Will Colt, Briar, and Frankie get their happily ever after? I LOVED Oathbreaker by Kat Mizera and Elise Faber! Colt and Briar are a great couple with explosive chemistry. Oathbreaker is an emotional roller coaster ride from beginning to end. I would highly recommend getting Oathbreaker and the other books in the Gamebreakers series by Kat Mizera and Elise Faber. I received a free copy of this book, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.

Wow! How does anyone handle finding out that the man you loved and thought dead for five years is actually alive and now standing in front of you? Not only does Briar have to come to grips with finding out that Colt is indeed not dead but all his Gamebreaker brothers must too and Briar has one more secret she’s been holding on to that is going to stir up even more trouble. Colt is back but he’s not whole and he’s about to get two shocking bits of news that’s going to change his life. One will make him extremely happy but the other is going to make him determined just to work even harder to make things right as he struggles with the after effects of his traumatic imprisonment and all the life’s experiences he’s missed out on.

A very emotionally gripping story with a pungent look at the hardships faced by both the ones left behind and the one missing out. How the decision to finally move on affects more than one or two people and how returning will cause heartbreak for at least one who cared to love. For that one he definitely deserves his own special HEA. A final book in a series that has a storyline that begins to rip all the bonding of the others to shreds but thankfully ends with the members of the brotherhood plus their little sister finding their own HEA becoming one bigger family.

This is the last book in the series. You can read each as a standalone as the characters are explained as who is who.

Briar is younger sister to Dash who is also best friends to Colt. Briar was always the younger sister Colt never wanted around but Colt always did. Briar never let on that she and Colt were an item. But when he disappeared she was devastated. Briar knew she was younger than Colt and Dash and his friends. Briar never wanted to be with someone who was going to disappear on her. But, once Colt left and never came back she wasn’t sure what to do. Then she had to be on her own and grown up on her own. She still had her friends and family. But she never let her heart open up for another loss.

Colt, has been presumed dead for the past few years. Now he’s come back to the town and loved ones he left behind. He was recruited to work for a secret military group. No one knew what happened to him. He was declared dead, however he has shown back up years later not knowing what has gone on with his friends or the life he left behind.

Colt never knew what to do while he was away from his friends and family. He was put away for the past few years never given anything to look forward to. He kept everyone he cared about in his mind and can’t believe he’s back with them all again. He never opened his heart for anyone else after he left Briar. He couldn’t.

I did receive a free ARC copy of this book. I am freely leaving an honest book review.

Colt and Briar's heartwarming, second-chance story concludes the series. We thoroughly enjoyed this emotional read, from the well-developed characters to the unraveling secrets that kept us engaged throughout the story. The plot drew us in, following the couple as they navigated their second chance. at love. The journey was filled with ups and downs, with love always underlying the conflicts and betrayals they faced. They must choose whether to embrace the truth and move forward together or let it tear them apart.

The characters were captivating, and the witty banter added a fun element that made us laugh. The entire cast of series characters displayed a range of emotions in this emotional reunion. Frankie, in particular, stole our hearts with her sweetness.

The chemistry between the characters was palpable, and it was evident that they belonged together. Our hearts went out to West, who handled things with grace even though it was tearing him apart inside.

This engaging story evoked a range of emotions, from smiles to tears. Colt's character was compelling, and we found ourselves rooting for Briar to stand by his side. The moments when Colt connected with his newfound daughter and reconciled with the brothers he left behind added depth to the narrative and elevated the story to a new level.

OMG I have been waiting for this book! Throughout the other books there have been hints of this one. It is the story we all wanted but never thought we would get because we were lead to believe that Colt had been declared dead over 5 years ago. Briar has been living her life and taking care of her daughter. She would never tell the guys who the father was and surprisingly it has never occurred to them that it may have been Colt. Then just as soon as Briar starts to seriously date someone and seem to be ready to move on in romance she gets a surprise at her door. Suddenly Colt is standing there alive and ready to retake back his world. We finally get so many of the answers to questions that have been coming up through out the previous stories. Watching the guys deal with their emotions after having their friend that they have been mourning for the five years reappear especially Dash. Even more watching Briar deal with should she go back to Colt and have the relationship that they never got to have or stay with West and see where their relationship goes. Also, watching Frankie who has some of the coolest uncles gets to see what it is like to have a father and one that has a military career that makes him a hero to many. This book ties up so many loose ends from all the previous stories.

I've been reading and liking this series, co-written by the authors, but damn this story was such a rollercoaster ride of emotions where I had tears in my eyes as I felt quite emotional reading the book. It was a journey to read what both lead characters went through but I also felt their emotions. Not everything was relatable but the way the story was written, you could really feel what it felt like. So many things definitely made this story one of my favorite reads of the year!

When Colt stands before Briar, she can't believe her eyes. The man she loved and buried, is alive after all this time and it's something that is so hard to believe. As she hears what he has been through, there are a few things throughout the years that has changed. So many times Colt dreamt of this moment, nothing really goes how he planned but one thing never changed and that's his love for Briar and how she is the reason he survived so many horrible things. He knows a lot has changed and when he finds out a 'surprise', his life will be changed even more. Trying to find some redemption and to hopefully gain his friends trusts back, he hopes that Briar can find it in her heart to forgive him and to give him another chance. Will they find their way back to each other in the end?...

This book had a really tough job as the last book in the series and the one dealing with a character we were not sure would be included initially but had become the one we most wanted to see. Well, it was that way for me anyway! And boy did it deliver. This was an emotional read and so very satisfying... I loved the way the story evolved and the explanations for what had happened. They worked so well but the timing! Argh! I was just getting used to the idea of West and Briar and I really liked West. I even shed a tear for him while reading because he was just awesome and deserving of love. I am now hopeful for a new franchise spin off with him as the first hero for where to go next. And Igor, I hope he gets a story too!

Anyway, this conclusion to the series was full of what we have come to expect from these two authors. An entertaining story with a great found family of characters. This had everyone from the series so I think is best to read in order to get the most out of it. It really would have the most impact that way as anyone new to the story wouldn't fully appreciate Colt's role in the group without all that background from the previous books. All in all it was another well written story that was the perfect end to the series.

When everything comes full circle

Oathbreaker is a heart-wrenching second-chance romance that explores love, regret, and the cost of duty. It is the fifth installment in the Gamebreakers series by these two fabulous authors and delivers on every level with emotional intensity and raw vulnerability. The story centers around Colt, (who was prominent in the pervious novels), who is haunted by his relationship and an unforgettable single night of passion with his best friend’s sister, Briar, without knowing the fallout of that time together.

Fate had other plans and years later, he returns, not only to be confronted with the consequences of that night but the consequences from all the relationships he left behind—that shake him to his core. Colt is driven by remorse, and a love worth fighting for as he vows to make amends, even if it means risking everything – which it almost does.

Oathbreaker is a powerful reminder that love doesn’t always follow the rules—and sometimes, breaking an oath is the only way to heal a heart. With raw emotion and unforgettable characters, Kat Mizera and Elise Faber craft a story that stays with you long after the final page. Amazing end to the series.

Briar has finally decided to move forward from the loss of Colt. She is dating and opening herself up to love again when Colt reappears in her life. They all believed that he had died years ago, and have missed and mourned him since. As Briar works through the emotions of his return, Colt finding out they have a child and the anger of his brothers, she is struggling. As Colt shares his story of joining a black ops group, being taken prisoner and Igor rescuing him, Briar is trying to understand her mixed emotions. As they get to know one another and reopen their hearts, Colt repairs his relationship with his brother and they start building a life together the past comes for Colt. Colt feels that he owes a debt to Igor and goes on one last mission. Briar is heart broken and not sure how she will go on as her heart breaks that Colt left again. Colt knows he needs to help Igor, however he has left the two loves of his life behind. Once Igor is safe, Colt returns to Briar and Frankie. This was a great way to end this series, loved that the family all had found their other half.

This series has always had me the group of friends threw college that went on to do different things hockey, rock and role security work even a billionair business men but from the beginning one was missing Colt the one that went out on a mission and died he and Dash were both Marins but Colt didn't make it or so everyone thought things are about to become complicated. Brier is Dash's sister she's raising a young daughter and she's like everyone's little sister and she's also held onto a 5 year secret who was Frankie's father and just as Brier thinks she's in a good place to move forward with a special Hockey player life interrupts that serenity Colt he says he's done but duty has away of calling you back into the fray will hearts get broken a second time and forgiveness that's a big theme here also found family and friendship sorry to see it end but really liked how the Authors tied everything up and I cant wait for a certain Hockey guy to finally find Love I wonder who that will be hmm. I was allowed to read and advance copy of this book and this is my honest review so long Gamebreakers.

5 Star Review Oathbreaker (Gamebreakers #5) by Kat Mizera & Elise Faber

The fifth and final book in the Gamebreakers series and what a way to finish. This is Colt and Briar’s story and it did not disappoint.

I have no idea where one author stopped and the other took over as the writing is seamless.

The characters were easy to relate to and I found myself totally invested in their story.

I knew this book would be special and it was. So emotional and satisfying and finally we get the answers to the questions we wanted to know.

It was heartwarming to watch as their relationship rekindled and I enjoyed the push and pull dynamic as it developed.

When Colt reappers, complications arise but it was his reunion with not only Briar and their daughter Frankie, but his “brothers” that had me in tears as the truth was finally revealed.

This was an emotional, heartwarming and heartbreaking story that I couldn’t put down.

I am sad to see this series end and would love to see a holiday novella with an update on all the couples.

Gamebreakers #5

Briar was shocked to see Colt walking toward her at the cemetery, he was supposed to be dead, and had been dead for five years. The man she loved who left her and promised he would be back but didn't return, is now standing in front of her, five years later.
She has finally started dating and has a great guy but she is so torn. Cole was the love of her life, now what? She's angry and doesn't understand it all and then there's the guys who believe he's dead.

He's still recovering, so Briar takes him back to her place, as he has nowhere else to go. Cole is still in love with Briar but things have changed and he will soon find that out. Will this time together change her feelings and what about her boyfriend?

Just when things start to calm down, he finds out the guy that saved him needs to be rescued and that he's really in bad shape. He promised Briar he would never leave again but he has to go. There's no coming back this time.

4.5 star
Very emotional read.

The entire series has been leading up to this book and it did not disappoint. Every member of this found family has mourned Colt for years. Each person has struggled to move on and accept that he was gone, but somehow they stayed together and found a way to find their happiness. Briar has kept the identity of her daughter's father a secret, partly due to how everyone would react, and partly due to wanting to keep the memories to herself. Now, she has finally started to move on and is happy with her boyfriend, but can't believe that Colt is alive.

The emotion in this book was full stop. From the moment he revealed himself to Briar you could feel the heartbreak and emotion from every one involved. Their daughter ripped at your heart with not understanding that he couldn't be there and that he didn't want to be there. I appreciated the fact that he had to work to show that he wasn't leaving again. For one heartstopping moment, things were scary for their daughter and it changed everything.

Whether they can find their way back to eachother, he can find a way to get his "brothers" to forgive him, and if he can really step away from the adrenaline rush being in the service gives him, remains to be seen. Just when things start looking like they are goint to work out it all comes crashing down. The letters are a wonderful way to see what he has been thinking and feeling the entire time he was gone.

I really enjoyed this series and can't wait to see what comes next for both authors. I received an ARC and this is my honest, voluntary review.

“Oathbreaker” by Elise Faber and Kat Mizera

This is the fifth and final book in the Gamebreaker series.

I feel like we’ve gotten to know Cort during the first four books in the series, but this is his story… well, his and Briar’s. In some ways it seems the series has been building to this.

But it was so sad to learn where he’s been and everything he’s been through. And while it was clear from the start of the book that he and Blair belonged together, I also loved West, the wonderful man that Blair has begun dating in past books. I really hope West gets his HEA in a future book in another series. It was difficult to watch the other guys work through their feelings about Cort being alive after all this time, and to see Frankie dealing with Cort coming into her life.

I definitely recommend this book, which is told in dual POVs, allowing the reader to understand the emotions both are feeling as they deal with their second chance love story.

I am voluntarily leaving a review for an Advanced Reader Copy of this book, and was not paid for my review.

Well...this one was quite the ride. I'm sure Colt expected more when he finally came home, but there was a lot of anger, from the boys especially, a bit from Briar, but what surprised me was Frankie. She got some brutal cuts in with her words. I thought both Briar and Colt did a good job of explaining things so she could understand and give her time to process things. It took a bit, but Colt did win her over. And how stunned was Colt when he realized he was Frankie's father.

The guys, it took a bit of time. They were pissed about the choice Colt made with "work" and a couple were pissed about him and Briar being together before hand. It took quite a while for things to get cleared up with all of them.

I thought Colt and Briar worked things out between the two of them pretty quickly. Felt bad for West, but thought more of him with how he handled things. I also thought Colt might have blown it at the end with the choice he made. But thankfully that all worked out and they could live happy together.

This was a great ending to the series. Colt was declared dead, but he shows up back home to reclaim the love of his life. The woman he has been thinking about for the last five years. Things are different now and Briar has a home, a new boyfriend and a daughter. The story unfolds as Colt confronts his past, and his found family.

This one had a little bit of everything in it. It explained Colt’s disappearance well and frankly, realistically. It also brought up all the emotions of having him reinserted into their lives and everyone handled it differently, but it felt true to the characters. Briar almost reverse grieved. You could see how much it is was a relief to have him home but also the pain of missing him resurfacing. The spice was spicy and written with the love and desperation the characters felt. This was a great ending to this series and I hope we see come characters pop up in future books! 5/5⭐️ 4/5🌶️

I received an advanced copy of this book.
