Just when Colin Richardson thought he had mastered the art of survival in this savage Earth, a new threat emerges. As he returns to Townsville with the imprisoned J.J. in tow, he learns that the mandrills are on the move once again.
Prophecies of doom are spreading like wildfire through the primeval apocalypse. J.J knows what's up. Or says he does. Colin must act fast to uncover the truth behind the monkey zealot's actions.
Working with his loyal companions – Noaich the six-legged crocodile, Wowser the spiky-tailed armadillo, Gothra the giant moth, Gleek the microraptor, and Parker the Ranger – Colin must race against time to unravel the secrets of the prophecy. But the path ahead is fraught with danger, as elemental monsters awaken, undead horrors rise, and the mandrills grow ever more frantic in their apocalyptic zeal.
The first apocalypse changed the world. The second one could end it. But this time, maybe, it can be stopped.
Rating: 6 prophecy-ridden banana peels out of 5 (math checks out)
You thought the world ended once? Cute. The sequel-pocalypse ups the ante with elemental kaiju, undead flash mobs and mandrill cultists shouting end-times slogans like Times Square preachers on double espresso. Colin must wrangle his entire menagerie (Gleek the microraptor cameo, anyone?) while babysitting the imprisoned mad-monkey J.J. The stakes: prevent Apocalypse 2: Electric Boogaloo. The result: a finale that feels like Monster Hunter crashing into Mad Max—and you’ll still laugh between explosions.
This kind of reminded my of power rangers. How trust, love and friendship is the ultimate power lol. I wonder why the monkeys worshipped a being who was happy to wipe them out. That was cool at the end that JJ almost felt bad about becoming the villain … until the aliens came back! Good series!
It's so refreshing to have a series in this genre just come to a conclusion without dragging it out. While neither this entry nor the series as a whole is perfect, it's very fun and tells a nice, complete story. Definitely worth picking up if you enjoy the genre and are looking for something to get you by until new releases.
Good end to the series. Good character development, and their personalities really come though here. There is some vague possibilty of more from this world, but I'd recommend leaving it here.
