Standing over six feet tall, USA Today bestselling author Jonathan Moeller has the piercing blue eyes of a Conan of Cimmeria, the bronze-colored hair of a Visigothic warrior-king, and the stern visage of a captain of men, none of which are useful in his career as a computer repairman, alas.
He has written the DEMONSOULED series of sword-and-sorcery novels, and continues to write THE GHOSTS sequence about assassin and spy Caina Amalas, the COMPUTER BEGINNER'S GUIDE series of computer books, and numerous other works. His books have sold over one million copies worldwide.
Nadia McCormack just keeps going and going and going…. And you will hear on complaints here.
Now, the statement above is actually filled with a twofold meaning. The first is with respect to Nadia’s character, because she simply does not know how to “give up.” When she was younger, if she had given up, it would have meant the death of both her brother and herself. And so she simply learned to eliminate the entire concept from her personal repertoire of behaviors. And this is why she always wins - not because she’s stronger or smarter or carries better arms (usually it’s quite the opposite), but because she will keep going and going and going until she wins. It’s beautiful really, and this particular trait is on full display and honored highly throughout this book.
Now returning to the thought with which I began this review, the second manifestation of the Energizer Bunny’s spirit comes in the form of the series itself. I was quite pleased to learn that there is yet a thirteenth book, and given the material to be covered I would hazard that there may be a fourteenth book as well.
The only downside to this book’s release is that I can no longer include some not so subtle jabs and barbs at Mr Moeller lamenting for that very release to happen. It has, now, and I’m reduced to this pale reflection of an attempt at wit…. <<< sigh >>>
Do yourself a favor… read this series in order. Yes each book can TECHNICALLY stand on its own, but there is so much successive material, all of which builds upon hat came before it, that you’ll be missing 90% of the good stuff if you’ve to pick this up in the middle, so don’t. And I promise you, you will ENJOY
As in, it opens with Nadia discussing the civil war just past, and the movie being shot near the Great Gate. There are problems, and a murder occurs.
Meanwhile, Victoria is coping badly, though she gets a jolt. Singularity is up to something.
It involves the honor of fire giants, a magic to conceal yourself, the Summoning codex, shooting car chases, how Nadia and Tyth think of Morviland, and more.
Love the Nadia series! Every book is fabulous! She is such a strong female lead yet is relatable and vulnerable in her development as a leader and the responsibility it brings!
