A woman who can’t remember. A soldier who wishes he could forget.
Hunter Everett may have gotten out of the Special Forces, but the demons that haunt him aren’t as easy to escape.
His friends keep encouraging him to come stay at the Resting Warrior Ranch. After all, it was created for people like Hunter—soldiers with PTSD struggling to readjust to civilian life—but he isn’t interested.
It’s better, safer, for everyone if he just remains alone.
Until he discovers Jada Moyer—bruised, terrified, and with no memory of anything about her life. Cops and criminals alike seem to be gunning for this gentle beauty, but she doesn’t know why.
Hunter can’t leave her to face it on her own.
The more they learn, the deeper the rabbit hole goes. But one thing they both know for the only way to create a future is for them both to face their pasts...
In this latest addition to the series, the author takes the readers back to Garnet Bend, Montana, the home of the Resting Warrior Ranch. A ranch created by former Navy SEALs for those individuals that have put their lives on the line to keep our country safe, but now that they are out, are suffering from PTSD, as well physical and emotional injuries. This time , the story belongs to Hunter Everett, former Special Forces, and cousin to Lucas, one of the founders of the ranch. Hunter’s life since his return a couple of years ago, has been filled with PTSD and nightmares. No longer the man he was and at the moment, not willing to stay at the ranch for either himself or work. Jada Banks, whom we met in a previous book, is the woman that kidnapped Kenzie, the girlfriend of Jensen, one of the new members of the ranch. When Hunter finds Jade badly injured and with no memory of her past due to an injection the abuser injected, Hunter takes it upon himself to not only rescue her, but help her find out some of her past, as well as why the bad guys and seemingly good cops are after her. This is a story filled with bad guys , danger, whodunit, a mysterious past, righting the wrong, new beginnings , hope, and romance. It’s also a reminder of all the physical, mental and emotional scars that many serving our country endure while doing all they can to keep us safe. As individuals as well as a nation, we must do something for these men and women upon their return home. I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
This was a tough one for me, I normally can sit down and read a book in this series in one sitting. But as I started this one, I remembered Jada and didn't like her and now I had to read a whole book about her??? It made stopping the book to switch to a different one very easy.
It helped a bit that she didn't remember anything of her prior life and honestly that is maybe a good thing for her. It had to suck having that blankness about your life and to figure out if you liked everything you encountered all over again, but she wasn't a good person before, so leaving that in the past would be a blessing.
Hunter struggled with his own issues about his past. The two of them were like the blind leading the blind, giving each other space as needed because they understood. It wasn't easy for them as a couple or with the larger group at RWR.
By the end of the book, I wouldn't say I loved Jada, but I did start to like her and think that her and Hunter are in a good place with good people.
“I just don’t know who I am supposed to be” What do you do when you have no memory? Gone. Totally. Not from a hit to your head. Not from an accident. Deliberately done. A literally shot from an unknown person who has erased your complete memory. No before that you can maybe recover in fits and starts. Nothing to retrieve. Not your name. Nothing about your life. You know you can read and make coffee and drive a car. The rest? A complete blank slate. Only, the police are after you and you have no idea why. They will not believe you when you tell them you don’t know or can not remember. Who would? Jada Banks only knows what she is told. Is that her name or is she really Jada Moyer? She was tricked into kidnapping Kenzie Hurst by Alan Ard, who injected her with the drug and is now back in jail. He gave her the shot. How do readers know this? Hunter Everett knows all of this as he was part of the Resting Warriors Ranch team of retired SEALS who came to rescue Kenzie and found Jada. (No spoilers.. previous book) and unbeknownst to the other, each is dealing with PTSD, something those at RWR knew all too well. Both Jada and Hunter are hiding secrets from each other. Difference is that he knows this while she has zero memory. Is Hunter willing to help her? Can those ‘blank spaces’ be filled in? Is there a key to unlock her memory? Hunter is the only survivor of his group caught in a trap in Kunduz. He doesn’t put down roots or stays in one place too long. A protector by nature, he works security as needed for his cousin Lucas and the RWR guys. He doesn’t trust anything permanent due to his PTSD. Although the range was founded for people like Hunter, he is reluctant to stay and get help. Until Lucas explains their plan to create Warrior Security as a permanent group to support not just the team but also law enforcement in Garnet Bend. They want Hunter to head this new endeavor because it represents exactly who he is. Instead of free-lancing, he would be in charge. Can both Hunter and Jada find a life in Garnet Bend? Will she ever be welcomed after what happened with Kenzie? Will she ever get her memories back and if not, can she live with that information about her past? Josie Jade has written a compelling novel of lost identity and finding a new path. It is both sad and yet hopeful. Do we all possess the inner strength that somehow fuels Jada. She has always been searching for love and someone to ‘see her’. How does she achieve that when she doesn’t know or understand what she is unable to remember? Will she be able to find a home in Garnet Bend where she constantly feels the distrust and unwelcome glances? Will Hunter be able to conquer his PTSD and find a life at RWR and Warrior Security? Ms Jade’s other books in the series have always been 5 stars. This one… requires understanding and compassion and empathy for Jada in a way readers have not experienced in this series. A page turner from page one. Laughter and gentle tears fell. 10 stars or more.
MONTANA MEMORY is the tenth instalment in Josie Jade’s contemporary, adult RESTING WARRIOR RANCH romantic suspense series. This is former Special Forces soldier Hunter Everett, and Jada Moyer’s storyline. MONTANA MEMORY can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty . Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Hunter and Jada) MONTANA MEMORY follows in the wake of the rescue of our story line heroine. While on assignment , Hunter found a battered and bruised woman who had no memories of the who, how or why, including her name or any important information about her current situation. Desperate to protect his new charge, Hunter heads to Resting Warrior Ranch where his fellow soldiers will begin a search for the truth but someone else is targeting our story line heroine, and Hunter is determined to protect the woman with whom he will fall in love.
The world building follows several pathways including Jada’s desperation to find her memories. The past has returned but Jada’s memories have been wiped, and Hunter is searching for the people responsible . Meanwhile, the guilt Jada feels is threatening her relationship with the people at Resting Warrior Ranch, and Hunter struggles with issues of his own.
The relationship between Hunter and Jada begins as a rescue but Hunter battles between head and heart believing he isn’t worthy of his own happily ever after. The offer of a new position has Hunter reconsidering his future but both Hunter and Jada are ready to run. The $ex scenes are passionate and intense without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and familiar secondary and supporting characters from the previous story line and original series. We are introduced to Jada’s brother Caleb Moyer, as well as as Detectives Johnson and Kelly. The requisite evil has many faces.
MONTANA MEMORY is a story of secrets and lies, betrayal and vengeance, power and control, struggle and acceptance, family and love. The character driven premise is dramatic and edgy; the romance is impassioned; the characters are charismatic and dynamic.
I just knew after Montana Heat we would be coming back to Resting Warrior Ranch, only this time it seems there is even more at stake. Josie Jade introduced us to Jada and Hunter in Montana Heat although I wasn’t expecting them to have their own story although a part of me hoped they would. Jada saved Kenzie but at what cost? If you woke up knowing absolutely nothing about yourself and your past would you do everything to get those memories back? If you did get a glimpse into who you were before losing your memory and saw that maybe you weren’t the kindest person would you still want those memories back? These are just a few of the questions Jada has for herself let alone why Hunter would help her at all. With having no memory you can essentially start over but will it be worth it? Hunter has spent his time after the military running from place to place in order to keep his past away from his present. Lucas would love nothing more for his cousin to settle and find some peace and heal. Jada may be the key to Hunter choosing to settle and maybe place some roots. Will Hunter’s trauma be too much for him and Jada to handle? However the choices from the past keep coming back for Jada and she’s not sure if she can even stay in Garnet Bend, because of her past choices. Everyone in the town and Resting Warrior Ranch take care of each other as family. But what do you do if you don’t feel worthy of that kind of love, care and compassion that family can bring you? Will the choices of a former life completely ruin the possible future of Hunter and Jada? Can Lucas finally expand Resting Warrior Ranch the way he has been wanting with Warrior Security and Hunter being a part of it? This story is full of mystery, emotional pain, trauma, love, humor, kindness, family and so much more that you can’t help but fall in love with ALL of the Resting Warrior Ranch Family! We also met Jace who is friends with Hunter but also part of Citadel Solutions will we see more of him and those men in the future….. There seems to be some new things brewing for the Resting Warrior Ranch Family and I’m excited to see what’s to come!
Terrific story that picks up where the previous book, Montana Heat, left off. Hunter and Jada played major roles in that story. Hunter is a cousin of Resting Warrior Ranch's Lucas. A former Special Forces soldier, Hunter has severe PTSD. He has been on the move for two years, trying to outrun the memories that haunt him. Lucas wants him to rest and heal at RWR, but he isn't ready. However, Hunter is there for him when Lucas needs help on an op.
This book opens at the end of that operation, where the men of RWR rescued Kenzie from a stalker. Hunter finds Jada badly beaten and being attacked. He knows who she is but can't leave her behind. On the other hand, Jada's memory is completely blank. She doesn't know who she is or why bad guys and police are looking for her. She desperately wants to know the truth, and Hunter is the only one she can trust to help her.
I ached for Jada. The more she learns about her past, the more horrified she is by her actions. Her guilty feelings increase when she meets the person who was the target of those unremembered actions. She wonders if it is possible to put the past behind her and build a new life as the person she wants to be.
I liked watching Jada and Hunter's relationship develop. The trauma of their pasts makes each reluctant to get close, afraid of more pain. Hunter is a tough nut to crack, convinced it is safer to remain alone. However, their experiences make it easier to see the other's pain, and by helping each other, they overcome their own.
The suspense kept me hooked from the first page to the last. The opening with Jada's blank memories, the search for information about her past, and whether those memories would ever return kept me turning the pages. The escalating attacks kept me on edge, and the final confrontation had a terrifying twist. The resolution was fantastic, and the epilogue was a terrific look at Hunter and Jada's progress in their relationship and healing.
I loved catching up with the RWR family. The deep ties between the men and women continue to expand and embrace others. There were a few rough moments because of Jada's earlier actions, but redemption and acceptance were never really in doubt. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.
Wow! This book throws you right into the action from the first page and doesn't let up!
Jada made some REALLY bad choices and was involved in stalking and kidnapping Kenzie (another Resting Warrior Ranch heroine). However, the manipulative and abusive man she made these choices for has left her beaten and without her memory. She doesn't even know her own name.
Hunter, pressed into service in Kenzie's rescue operation by the RWR team, finds Jada confused and bleeding. He rescues her and brings her to safety. Immediately drawn to the beauty, Hunter decides to leave to save her from himself and his severe PTSD. He feels that he is unpredictable in his behavior and doesn't want to risk harming Jada during a PTSD incident.
However, he can't help but keep an eye on her and he sees the dangers from her past coming closer. He will do whatever he must to prevent Jada from coming to more harm.
Jada has a difficult path to follow. The more she finds out about her past actions, the more she hates herself for what she did. Without her memories, she looks back at the facts of what occurred and is troubled by them. She is worried that she is a selfish, self-centered person willing to hurt others. Without her memories, she has the opportunity for a fresh start in which she can make the life she wants and become a person she is happy to be. Starting from zero presents a host of both emotional and pragmatic challenges. I think her struggle to find out who she really is and to build a life that she can be happy with is a relatable theme. I think all of us at one time or another question ourselves and our impact on those around us. Watching Jada learn to accept her past and work toward something better is an inspiring read. Add to that the action and intrigue of the story, Hunter's struggle to overcome his own PTSD issues, a hot-burning relationship between Jada and Hunter and the result is a page-turner that will hook the reader and hold on to them until the final page.
Five stars for this fast-moving story with a complex plotline, intrigue and plenty of romance.
This is an honest, voluntary review of an ARC of the story.
I am always a little unsettled by redemption stories, I want to fall in love with the characters but what if I can’t and this is definitely a redemption story. Turns out I shouldn’t have worried - Josie Jade has written a brilliant and intriguing story and I fell completely in love with both Jada and Hunter. There are no excuses made for Jada’s previous actions, what she did to Kenzie finally culminating in kidnapping her was horrific but her subsequent trauma, the complete loss of all her memories and the way she lives her life afterwards put me firmly in her camp. Former special forces operative Hunter Everett is helping out his cousin Lucas, one of the founders of the Resting Warrior Ranch, with the mission to find and free kidnapped Kenzie when he finds an injured and traumatised Josie. Acting on instinct he takes Josie to a place of safety, leaving her with the advice to lie low but Hunter can’t get the traumatised woman out of his head and turns up again to rescue her from possible arrest after she seeks help at hospital. Hunter suffers from PTSD and his emotional scars run deep, he rarely stays long in one place, he struggles around people but recognises his triggers and uses physical exercise to try to keep the demons at bay. Two damaged souls drawn together, they become each others safe space and hope for a new future together slowly unfurls but Jada’s missing past isn’t finished with her and danger lurks. Heartbreaking at times, it is an emotional read beautifully written, there’s intrigue, mystery, bad guys, probably a dramatic end you won’t predict but there is also hope and the promise of new beginnings. It is absolutely a fitting finale to the Resting Warrior Ranch series, but I’m so excited for the new Montana Justice series. I received an arc from the author and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
A real heartwarming story after a horrific start, how Jada was saved by the determination of Hunter This was another simply spectacular book by these authors who have the capacity of bringing together two or mor main characters and a simply spectacular plot that’s captivating and intrigues the reader so that they are simply unable to stop reading until they know the final outcome. When Hunter had discovered Jada it was apparent that she had been through a traumatic incident that had left her not only badly beaten but also with lapses of memory along with portions of actual memory loss. He is a man that is living with his own demons and this is partly why he is how he knows about Resting Warrior Ranch. His cousin Lucas actually helps runs the place that is a sanctuary to veterans and other battle-weary souls that would have no where else to go for help, guidance or just an understanding ear. I loved the way this particular book brings us back into contact with previous individuals so that you can see how they are progressing, also the was that Hunter who is suffering terribly from PTSD and is struggling around other people finds that caring for Jada and helping her with her injuries and recovery is actually distracting him from some of his own problems and he is actually beginning to make progress himself. I guarantee that like me find yourself totally captivated by this wonderful read and will be left looking forward to the next book to be released in this series, the never fail to captivate and motivate and leave the reader believing that there are still people in the world trying to help other for no other reason than they can!! I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the wonderful writing.
This story grabbed me from the very first page and didn’t let go. I’ve been following the Resting Warrior Ranch series, and I was so excited for Hunter and Jada's book. And boy did this one really pack a punch.
Hunter is the kind of character who breaks your heart in the best way. He’s out of the military but still carrying all that weight from his past, trying to keep everyone at arm’s length. Then he finds Jada—hurt, terrified, and with no memory of who she even is—and something in him won’t let her go.
Watching their connection grow, even while they both try to push each other away, was powerful. Jada’s journey was so emotional—imagine waking up with no memory, only to start learning that maybe you weren’t such a great person before. That tension between wanting to know who you were and fearing it… whew. It was so well done.
The chemistry between Jada and Hunter is real and raw, but it’s the emotional growth that really hooked me. Both are struggling in different ways, but somehow, helping each other face the past becomes the key to moving forward.
There’s plenty of suspense, action, and mystery to keep you turning the pages, but what really stuck with me was the sense of healing and found family that the Resting Warrior Ranch always brings. This book like all the others in this series is a perfect mix of heart, heat, and hope.
If you’ve been following the series, this one’s a must-read (not surprisingly). And if you haven’t, it’s still a great standalone. Either way, you’re in for an emotional, action-packed ride with characters you’ll root for the whole way.
Jada’s criminal evil boyfriend injected her with a memory drug and wiped out her memory. When she woke up, she found herself bruised and battered in a remote cabin. Hunter found her there and immediately disposed the 2 men who were attacking her. With his best intention hindered by his own demons, Hunter couldn’t leave Jada behind to fend for herself, knowing the cops would throw her in jail. Without memory, she would never see the light of day. Hunter’s cousin was at Resting Warrior Ranch and always wanted him to heal his PTSD at the ranch. That’s where Hunter and Jada ended up with safety and shelter. The problem was Jada in her previous life was not a nice person. She was not a criminal, but she did some terrible things to one of the ranch residents. Without her old memory, she had to find out from other people. The guilt was driving her out of the ranch. She couldn’t remember her past or find her future. One constant person that kept her grounded was Hunter. Hunter found connection with Jada that he couldn’t find with anyone else before. They were 2 lost souls finding their way in the world. With each other, they didn’t feel so lonely. Her old boyfriend was killed in the jail and his lies were following Jada. It is up to Hunter to save her once and for all. This story is action packed and emotion charged, with a little sci-fi fiction related to memory drug to spice things up. Once again Resting Warrior Ranch serves up the warmth and safety to sooth the soul, regardless their background. It’s a utopia for the dreams.
Montana Memory by Josie Jade Resting Warrior Ranch #10
Action-packed riveting read ~ couldn’t put it down!
What I liked: * Hunter Everett: retired Army Special Forces, loner, lethal, quick, fit, protective, PTSD issues he hasn’t dealt with, cousin of Lucas from Resting Warrior Ranch, attracted to Jade * Jade Moyer Banks: checkered past, memory wiped, learns that it might be better not to remember, brother in prison, more than one person is after her, attracted to Hunter * The growth of the relationship between Hunter and Jade – perfect together * Jace: works with Citadel, tech genius, there for Hunter by phone * What wonderful supportive people the Resting Warrior couples are * The way Jade learned what she did and didn’t like and how she came to terms with her memory issues and that she reconnected with her brother – wonder if he will show up in the future * The advice shared that helped both main characters * Sir Pounce, Biscuits, and Moose – warm, furry, purry characters * The plot, pacing, setting, and writing * That the bad guys were caught and dealt with by the end of the book * Knowing that the decision Hunter makes ensures there will be a new book in the future
What I didn’t like: * Who and what I was meant not to like * How evil some of the characters were
Did I like this book? Yes Would I read more by this author? Yes
Thank you to the author for the ARC – This is my honest review.
Montana Memory Resting Warrior Ranch #10 Josie Jade “Who was Jada Banks? Because I sure as hell didn’t know.” Hunter Everett, former special forces soldier with PTSD, protector and warrior. Picking up more or less where Montana Heat ended, we get to know two new lead characters. Jada had succumbed to a memory loss drug in the fight that rescued a kidnapping victim, not that she knows that or anything else including her name. She didn’t even remember which side she was on. Does someone with survivors guilt and PTSD deserve peace -of course! Does someone with survivors guilt, has done terrible things in their past deserve any peace, even if they have no memory of their past ? Do they deserve a fresh start or should they be forced to suffer? The Resting Warrior Ranch and those who live there always come through for those they love and those in need of support, they welcome Jada and Hunter. Jada and Hunter were like two souls colliding at their most crucial moment. Great characters including the wider cast fans have met in other books in this series. This is part of the Resting Warrior Ranch series set n the beautiful Montana mountains but can be read as a stand-alone novel with hea. Full of integrity questions, thought provoking with twists and turns it is a page-turner till the very end. I received an arc of this book. 4 1/2 stars
A unique romantic suspense about a woman who was forcibly given an experimental drug that took away her past memories. Hunter Everett, former Special Forces, finds her after she has been beaten and they barely escape from her captors. On the run, she must trust this hardened warrior who has promised to keep her safe. When he tells her that her name is Jada, who she had been involved with and what they had done, she believes she deserves whatever happens to her. They have no idea if there is an antidote for the drug and if so, what it might do to her. Knowing that he must protect her, he takes her to the only place where they will be safe, Resting Warrior Ranch. She knows that he suffers from PTSD, but during their time at the ranch, the attraction between them seems to calm him. As they both face their pasts, trying to maybe move on to a life together, the police show up at the ranch to question her again. This is just the beginning of the terror to come. Jada is missing, but he knows that she wouldn’t have left the ranch. Will they have the intel needed to find her and will she ever recover her past memories? A complete rush from beginning to end! I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (paytonpuppy)
I was a bit leery about this read since Jada’s escapades in the last book, not sure if I could like a character after all that….boy was I wrong. This author nails it with Jada and Hunter, especially Jada and I couldn’t put it down. Jada has lost her memory and Hunter whisks her away from the cabin and hides her. She has no idea who she is or what she has done and after Hunter leaves her, she decides to go to the hospital where once again he comes to her aid and takes her away. Lying low and needing help, Hunter takes her away from the safe house to the ranch, where everyone knows what she did and that is not someone she is proud of, or wants to be ever again, she can’t remember and it’s for the best, she can start over and hopefully with Hunter, who has his own demons he has to fight. But someone wants her memories and will do whatever it takes for her to remember. Redemption ten fold for Jada and Hunter is the perfect match for her. The story flowed beautifully, descriptions were spot on, suspense, surprises, twists and turns, steam and amazing characters. I may have been a bit leery but a few pages in….i was rooting and cheering for Jada and Hunter.. *I voluntarily read an advanced copy and expressed my honest opinion*
It's always a pleasure to head back to Resting Warrior Ranch! The setting is picturesque, the cast of characters are good natured and the plot is healing and heartfelt. The undertaking of redeeming Jada's character was a big pill to swallow, but Josie Jade did it well. I quickly found myself sympathizing with her plight and liking her as the person she currently was regardless of her past deeds. Hunter was easy to like as well, but I felt like his PTSD was downplayed a bit instead of shining a spotlight on coping mechanisms and help that could have deepened the depth of the book. I wanted more relationships development before they rode off into the sunset, but overall I enjoyed them whole heartedly and was pulling for them from start to finish.
Jada was a complex character, but she was what drew me into the book the most. She had a softness to her that I wasn't expecting and it made her really easy to forgive.
I recommend this book as well as the entire series to anyone who enjoys a cast of former military who come together to support the building of their forever afters and helping other military transition to life after service.
This book starts off with a bang and brings together Hunter (who is Lucas’ cousin) and Jada, two souls who suffer from PTSD and memory loss respectively. Both have trouble getting out of their heads at times and do need help and support – which they ultimately find in each other but are reluctant to ask from others. I loved these two characters together. I will say I was a bit surprised that Hunter, knowing what Resting Warrior was created for and the services provided, didn’t take advantage of the services himself. He knows his behavior is unpredictable and knows the guys running the place have PTSD and other issues as well. I felt that both characters were well developed. I liked the direction of the story, especially with Jada who struggled to find out her persona before the memory loss and the things she did to Kenzie and whether or not she changed to a different person after the memory loss. As usual, you have the RW crew on hand to provide the back-up needed at just the right moment and twists and turns to the story. I also liked being introduced to Jace who will be the star character in a new series. I look forward to getting to know him better.
I was pulled right into this story. The story has pain, secrets, suspense, and heartbreak.
If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those book(s) first Montana Sanctuary (Resting Warrior Ranch #1) Montana Danger (Resting Warrior Ranch #2) Montana Desire (Resting Warrior Ranch #3) Montana Mystery (Resting Warrior Ranch #4) Montana Storm (Resting Warrior Ranch #5) Montana Freedom (Resting Warrior Ranch #6) Montana Silence (Resting Warrior Ranch #7) Montana Rain (Resting Warrior Ranch, #8) Montana Heat (Resting Warrior Ranch #9)
This is Jada and Hunter’s story. He has demons he fights everyday. He remembers way too much. She has no memory of any thing in her live but that does not make her unaware of fear. She is terrified and he can see that. Everyone seems to be after her but with no memory how can she figure out why? Hunter is a protector first and foremost so he makes sure she is safe. But can she ever really trust him? Can she get her memories back and can they face the past together and have hope to move forward? Or will they lose everything and possibly even each other?
I have read every book in the Resting Warrior Ranch series and all I can say about Montana Memory is WOW!!! Jada Moyer was a character in Montana Heat (book 9 in the series) and lets just say that she didn't leave us with a good impression of her. Hunter Everett was working on a mission and found Jada wounded and disoriented. She doesn't remember her name, where she came from, why she was there or why men were trying to hurt her. Hunter knows the answers to all those questions and tries to help Jada find safety. The problem is, is that there doesn't seem to be any safe spot for Jada. As they try to find answers their quest leads them to Resting Warrior Ranch and the hope for a chance to rest and regroup. Just when they think that they have finally found a respite, trouble comes after Jada. Hunter is honestly one of my favorite characters. He suffers from severe PTSD, yet nothing will stop him from seeing to Jada's safety. Their story stands alone however I highly recommend reading Montana Heat so that as a reader, you will get Jada's full story. Montana Memory was told from dual POV and was loaded with action, angst and a bit of heat!
Montana Memory a book about second chances. Jada Banks made some seriously questionable choices in the last book in the series, Montana Heat, where she stalkef and kidnapped Kenzie. She was given a memory drug that wiped her mental slate clean. The book starts as a continuation of the last book and Jada immediately meets Hunter. He is a man who suffers from PTSD from his military service. He rescues her and sets about trying to find answers to the drug and how to reverse it. In an attempt to help her recovery, Hunter takes Jada to the one place he knows that she'll be safe, Resting Warrior Ranch. However this is also the place that Jada's victim, Kenzie, lives. Jada feels guilty after learning what she did to Kenzie and feels that she deserves what happened to her. After Jada becomes a target of some crooked cops, Hunter must get her back and help her realize that she can move forward without having to look back on her past.
This book also hints at a new series that Josie Jade is working on called Citadel Solutions. We met Jace, a computer expert that is on the team. It'll be interesting to see where that series goes!
FMC: Jada Banks MMC: Hunter Everett Spice: 🌶️🌶️.5 Pages: 302 Tropes: Amnesia, Romantic Suspense, Former Military MMC, PTSD, Heroine on the Run Setting: Denver, Colorado; Montana
Thoughts: I love a good redemption story. Jada was the villain in the last book in this series and I wasn’t sure how she would become a character I liked. But the amnesia and the circumstances of her life really worked for me. She became the person she should have always been without the hard childhood memories and a blank slate. She had a lot of guilt to work through and I’m glad that was a part of her story, despite her having no memories of the wrongs she committed. I really liked Hunter as the MMC. He had his own demons and guilt that he carried and although he claimed to want to be a lone wolf, he just couldn’t leave Jada. I really liked the development of their relationship and the suspense that followed them through the book. Hunter and Jada had a great push and pull relationship and ended up being perfect for each other. They made each other better and only saw the good in each other.
Montana Memory is the tenth book in the Resting Warrior Ranch Series by Josie Jade - mixing romantic suspense with plenty of emotional depth - and is set against the rugged beauty of Montana. Each book in the series can stand on its own, as each instalment offers a self-contained story - but when read together, they weave a larger, interconnected narrative that is both satisfying and heartwarming. The series excels in its portrayal of complex, resilient characters. From soldiers grappling with the scars of their past, to women overcoming personal struggles - the protagonists are richly developed and deeply relatable. Their journeys of healing, love, and redemption are handled with sensitivity and care, making it easy to root for them. The Montana setting is vividly described, adding a layer of atmospheric charm to the stories. The suspenseful elements are well-paced, which kept me fully engaged without overshadowing the emotional core of the romances. So, if you enjoy stories of love, resilience, and second chances, all wrapped in a suspenseful package, then the Resting Warrior Ranch series is a must-read. Happy Reading…
Hunter and Jada end up together by chance. After completing his mission, Hunter finds himself drawn to Jada, despite not admitting it to himself. Her memory loss resonates with him as he still suffers from PTSD and can relate to her struggles.
Though he tries to stay away, trouble keeps finding her, and he feels the need to help her as much as he can. The time they spend together wakes up feelings he never thought he'd experience again. When they finally fall into each other's arms, Hunter becomes determined to keep her safe.
Jada is struggling with the parts of her past, confused and unsure of who she truly is. She desperately wants to believe that she's not as bad as her past suggests. With Hunter's support, she learns to accept her past in order to move forward.
The story is intense and unpredictable and had me to read it in one sitting. Despite being the tenth book in the series, it remains addictive. I can't wait for the next couple that Josie Jade has in store for us.
Can you imagine waking up with no memory, not even a name? That’s the position Jada Banks finds herself in when she wakes up injured in a cabin. Moments after waking up she finds herself being confronted by a man who demands she contact someone named Alan. She tries to explain she doesn’t remember anything but the man grows frustrated and attacks her. Just when it seems like all hope is lost another man explodes into the cabin and saves her. He gives her the option to stay or leave with him. Logically she knows that he’s a stranger and following him would be reckless, but what other choice does she really have when everything is just a big blank. She learns his name is Hunter and her name is Jada. Hunter decides he’ll disappear again once he gets Jada to safety, but once he realizes cops and criminals alike are after her he knows he can’t leave her to face that on her own. They must work together to find out why she is being hunted and whether or not there is a cure to her memory loss.
I wasn’t sure how I would feel about Jada’s book knowing what happened in the previous book (Kenzie & Jensen) but I will say I really enjoyed it! I do feel awful for what happened with Jada and her memories but also I feel it was a better fate than what else would have happened to her. Hunter’s way of helping Jada figure out who she is was everything she needed and he! Jada helped Hunter to heal and grow in ways he didn’t know he needed or expected.
Again the suspense and romance in this book were the perfect balance to each other.
Quotes: Hunter Everett—the man who could disappear into a crowd without a trace, who could probably kill someone forty different ways with his bare hands—was sitting here, letting a nine-week-old kitten crawl onto his palm. The sight of it did something to me.
Because family wasn’t about blood—it was about the ones who stood by you when everything fell apart. They were the ones who wanted what was best for you, even when it might not be what was best for them.
This book was amazing as all the others before in this series. But in Montana Memory Jada Banks doesn’t know who she is at all. Hunter Everett comes to her rescue and fills in some blanks for her. He takes her to the safest place he knows his cousin Lucas who runs a place called Resting Warrior Ranch. He runs it with some other friends. Hunter has PTSD and struggles around people. The people who are his family. Jada has done some bad things, but now she’s in a world of blankness. Hunter tries to do what he can for her. It’s hard for him. But when things start to happen he can’t leave her to fend for herself.
A truly heartwarming and heartbreaking book. Heart pounding. I love Hunter and Jada find. They truly are made for each other. Two souls that found each other which neither expected it. They never would give up on the other. They were in it for the long term.
I have loved all the books in this series. All beautiful written. I can’t wait for the next one.
Another heartwarming visit to Garnet Bend Montana. We met Hunter and Jada at the end of Montana Heat. However, their book is a standalone. Their story tells you what you need to know about Jada's part in Montana Heat. This is a book of new beginnings. Jada doesn't have a memory and Hunter struggles with PTSD. Together they find that two broken souls can heal each other. Hunter has a very strong protective instinct over Jada, and he went in eyes wide open regarding the person she'd been before losing her memory. But she has a fresh start and she's going to make it count. Hunter too has been offered a new purpose in life as his cousin Lucas has asked him to create a security team for Resting Warrior. Which I hope means even more books set in this quaint Montana town. It's the story you expect from Josie Jade, some spice, two individuals that are not perfect, and a bit of suspense. The great heart pounding suspense that you wonder will Hunter get there in time?!
Beautiful characters, Hunter and Jada are haunted by their pasts. Hunter suffers from PTSD that can derail him at any time. And, Jada's memories have literally been stolen. She remembers nothing from the moment she wakes up in an unfamiliar cabin. This unlikely couple struggle to regain a new normal and it is their convictions and dedication to a better future that makes this couple one of my favorites. They face extremely difficult situations where they need to draw on their strength, faith and hope to not only survive but to ensure a life together.
You will hold on to Hunter and Jada's story with two hands. They make you believe in justice, redemption and unconditional love. This is an incredible suspense romance with intense drama and steamy passion. The Resting Warrior Ranch Series doesn't disappoint, each book is just as good if not better than the last. Five stars across the board.
This is book 10 in the Resting Warrior Ranch series and it features Hunter and Jada. She has no memory of her life. Hunter found her in the cabin after the rescue of Kenzie in the previous book, Montana Heat. Something just wouldn’t let him leave her there. There’s a connection he needs to explore. Two lost souls. Hers from a shady memory loss drug and his from severe PTSD from his time in the military. As they try to navigate their unsteady lives, her past come back to haunt her and Hunter must rely on his instincts and a few good friends. The action and adventure is fantastic! The sense of family is always strong at the Resting Warrior Ranch.
I love interacting with characters from previous stories! I also love the future chief of police, Lachlan, who is not afraid to bend the rules for justice. I’m pretty sure the door has been opened for a future spinoff series. Keep reading this amazing author to find out!
