Shame. Prejudice. Fear. All woven into the very fabric of my being. I'm swathed in them like the most suffocating cloak.
Beneath this toxic mantle, I wear my desires close to my heart. Where it's dark. Where they're safe.
Until I meet Darcy, a dancer at Alchemy and the most beautiful woman I've ever seen. The only problem? Her boyfriend, Max.
She makes me feel alive, but he arouses emotions I've taken great care my entire life to condemn and deny and bury. Emotions I've always been taught are sinful and wrong.
Together, they show me love far too great to be a sin, too bright to languish in the darkness.
Even as our relationship flourishes, the shame and fear remain in place, tearing me apart and threatening what deserves only the most dazzling light.
If anyone can unstitch this cloak from me, thread by thread, and liberate me, it's this woman... and this man.
If I let them.
Unstitch is a super spicy love story between Darcy, Max, and Dex. It forms part of the Alchemy series but can be enjoyed as a standalone, and these three get a great big HEA.
Alright listen up and listen good cause I have thoughts. I did like these three. I especially loved Max and Dex together, but here’s my problem with that:
MMF is such a complicated dynamic to write because (especially when there’s bi/gay awakening) there’s always so much more angst between the guys than the girl. Which always makes the MM part of the MMF seem more meaningful. And I think this book fell victim to that. During Dex’s and Max’s POVs, whenever they thought about each other it was always a: I-would-move-heaven-and-earth-for-this-god-who-walks-amongst-men vibe, and when they thought of Darcy it was always a: she’s-so-pretty! vibe. The imbalance was very obvious, at least to me. And also the author would throw in a Darcy scene whenever Dex and Max got all sappy......I guess to balance it out? (Side eye).
As for the characters, Dex was definitely my favourite. He was really the only one who had shit to work through and was also the only one who got a back story. Max was like super arrogant and aggressive which I guess was good for Dex and Darcy's characters (??), but if someone said the things he said to me, I’d probably slap them. Darcy was fine, but again, fell victim to the MM(F) curse.
Lastly, holy mother of god what is with the excessive adjectives and big ass fancy words. I do not know what half these words mean and I’m telling you right now they do not need to be here….'incisive'? 'gauche outsider'? 'inimitable'? 'halcyon'? WHAT THE HELL?? Also, sooo many things I just didn’t want to grace my eyes with: “prime digestive real estate” NO. “Unplugged ourselves from each other’s bodies” WHAT. “Wet slurp” BROTHA EUGHHH.
I liked these three but I also got bored of them/their story pretty quick. At this point the books are somewhat repetitive and I’m not sure we should have ventured past the core group of 4. That said I’ll be reading these remaining two books because at this point I’m fully invested.
3.5 stars. Unstitch is the 5th book in the Alchemy standalone series, and this one is a MMF romance for Dex, Max, and Darcy.
This story jumps right into it. Darcy is back in London and becomes a dancer at Alchemy, the club her sister Gen (heroine of Unveil) is a co-founder of. She meets Max, a member of the club and her brother-in-law’s best friend. They immediately have connection, hit it off, and get together. Shortly after she meets Dex, he’s the brother to Belle (heroine of Unfurl) who is married to a co-founder of the club as well. Darcy is super taken with Dex and feels pulled to him too, but Dex has a lot of past religious stuff to work through.
As with the whole series, there is tons of the characters playing with others along the way but not in an OW/OM drama kind of way. This book is provably my least favorite in the series, I just didn’t connect with these characters and sadly had a hard time with the story as a whole. It felt full steam ahead and I just wanted more character growth/connection instead. We do get some age gap in this group, Darcy is 25 and Max is 40. And it was fun seeing all the other characters from the series in this one. While not my personal fav, I can see plenty of readers having a good time with this read.
I received an ARC from the author, all thoughts in this review are my own.
CW (provided by author): discussion of religious beliefs and purity culture that does result in graphic depictions of bigotry, homophobia, transphobia and hate speech. One of the MMC has internalized homophobia as a result of their upbringing.
This was incredible. This is book 5 in her ‘Alchemy’ series and is such a beautiful and spicy MMF romance.
The book first follows Darcy (25), a dancer who moves back to London from Australia to work at her sister’s s3x club ‘Alchemy’. She meets Max (40) who, like everyone, is entranced by Darcy’s moves and asks her to dance privately for him at his house, this begins what can only be described as the hottest nights of their sexual lives.
We then meet Dex (30), who unfortunately grew up with a very strict Catholic father and therefore grew up to believe in homophobia.
Dex meets Darcy at Alchemy and hit it off straight away, Max coerces Dex into a threesome with Darcy, where Dex starts to unravel his own sexual desires for both men and women.
I loved this ARC read so much, it was so beautiful to see Dex’s story of becoming his true self and finding his worth and story.
“Max’s arm rests just above mine along Darcy’s back, and it strikes me how anchoring his touch is. How right this symmetry feels—Darcy in the middle, resplendent in her finery, and us guys flanking her in almost identical tuxedos, all three of us radiant with happiness. The Rule of Three.”
“I love you both so much I can’t tell you.“
• MMF • HEA • Age gap (~15 years) • Possessive MMC, Shy MMC • Triple POV • Check Trigger Warnings (Homophobia from parents)
This was a really beautiful MMF. I loved this poly romance so much! It was erotic, yes, but it was also emotional and about breaking down harmful mindsets and prejudices. 🥹 It made me so happy.
When I first read Unfurl, I was hit with the intensity of the religious trauma and abuse Belle grew up with. After reading Unstitch and what Dex deals with, I can say with 100% confidence I am so very thankful I pulled my kids from church and Christianity before they went through the purity culture scene.
Unstitch is absolutely so well done, with the perfect balance of angst, spice, and most of all, unconditional love. The love Max, Dex, and Darcy share is so sweet and so supportive it makes my teeth hurt in the best possible way.
As much as I want to keep spouting how much I love this book (and I do!), I want to hit on something that clicked with me and resonated hard. Lately I have been hearing the term “my truth”. I remember hearing it a lot after 2016 but I never put much thought into. I remember my conservative family members, ridiculing people who said that and always saying “there is no my truth. There is truth and opinion and their opinion is wrong”. Very close minded, but I was still in a weird spot back then and didn't have enough voice to speak about it. This book helped me to clarify some things about that phrase. My truth IS my opinion and it is all mine. Some may agree, some may not. But it’s all mine and my perspective has merit. My TRUTH is how I see things. Yes, there are some things that may be undisputedly the truth - the sky is blue, Pedro Pascal is the perfect man ;), Taylor Swift is a brilliant songwriter - but it doesn’t have to be incontrovertible to be the truth. Watching Dex unravel these mysteries helped me to see my journey for my truth and brought a blanket of peace over me.
I don’t know if Elodie intended for her words to hit as hard as they did, but I for one and so grateful for them and love they were wrapped up in a loving, filthy throuple!
Elodie Hart / Sara Madderson strikes again. I’m not shocked. I never doubted her skills in the slightest.
We’ve briefly met these characters before in the Alchemy series. Darcy as the long distant younger sister of Gen, Max as the cog in Anton’s wheel to show Gen what she’s missing and Dex as Belle’s big brother. What I never expected was how these characters were undoubtedly made for each other. Elodie/Sara mentions this in her afterword as the best lightbulb moment she’s had, and I couldn’t agree more. It works so well.
Alchemy continues to provide us with the spiciest world known to man, and I lapped it up like Dex licking champagne from Darcy. Between the exquisite description of Darcy’s dreamlike club dancing, Max’s dom approach and experiencing Dex’s firsts we have a concoction of perfect spice. There’s nowhere else you need to turn, so lay back with your new favourite Polyamorous trio and enjoy.
Darcy is loveable and sweet. She balances out the intensity of Dex’s journey and brings a little laughter to the story. We still have some Maddie-isms and I continue to be obsessed. My only qualm is that Darcy has some internal questions about where she’s left and I’d have liked her to have some emotional care from the boys even if Dex was going through a major life change, her journey isn’t lessened given she’s entering a Polyamorous throuple. Max is always so good at the aftercare post 🌶️ I hoped for some emotional aftercare to check in with Darcy. Max is one serious guy, especially when it comes to his partners and needing them all-in with him, so it’s perfect that Darcy is the sweet strawberry to his tasty but firm meringue. There are moments where Max comes across as harsh and possibly forceful in his language (never physically), but I think we can all agree his words are exactly what Dex needs to push through. Again, it’s refreshing to have a Darcy-like character who can soften his blow (pun kind of intended) and the duo combined are the perfect tonic for Dex.
Dex’s coming out journey is a hard pill to swallow. The acceptance of his own needs but knowledge he won’t have the same understanding from his father is heartbreaking, but groundbreaking to have it in written form for the world to see. It may be fictional on this occasion, but Elodie/Sara has shown the world that the family who matters will wrap their arms around you so tightly so that the outside noise doesn’t matter, that it isn’t our responsibility for the way others react to our needs and choices, and that the importance of own happiness far surpasses the limiting expectations others force upon us. I’d love to say f*ck Ben Scott, he deserves it. But he’s a character who will never unlearn the limitations and cruelty of his behaviour and for that it’s his loss.
I took this book slightly slower than usual because if I’ve learned anything about the Alchemy series, it’s that my heart is fully imbedded within this loveable, dreamy family and I never want it to end. Erase my mind and let me read it again and again and again. 100/10 recommend it to friends the globe over and back again.
⛓️💥⛓️💥 ARC REVIEW ⛓️💥⛓️💥 100% unbiased review (I’ve reviewed the other books in the series if you feel like looking them up (: )
Spoiler but not an actual spoiler…… this is my favorite book in the series hands down.
God this feels so extra special to me, to have been given an ARC. Every release I have been there downloading at midnight to dive into the world of each couple.
If there is one thing I love when it comes to tropes or storylines it’s giving a big middle finger to purity cultures and religion. I was never raised religious or with any archaic disgusting values. I was given the life to lead wherever I wanted, I was able to think for myself, I never had to question anything or be questioned. Which is a life I think people deserve. When you are frolicking through with no religious “guidance” you quite frankly really don’t give a shit what anybody chooses to do with their life.
I’ve been dying for Dex to get his own book. I’ve got to keep this spoiler free but after a week or so of the book being released I’ll probably toss in my favorite quotes or moments!
This book is powerful and delicious and filthy. Dex is powerful. Darcy is powerful. And MY GOD MAX. Max max max freaking MAX. I was surprised to see he was stealing the show half the time! They all stole the show really, but Max commands the room. I genuinely don’t think I’ve read a couple that has ever fit so perfectly together? Not once did I feel like someone was left out even during these grand intimate moments that belong to two in particular. It was beautiful from beginning to end. I just want to hug Dex, and most definitely switch places with Darcy?
I had to stop at many points and giggle or slap my hand over my mouth for what I was reading. The shower, the office, I mean basically everything??? AH.
I love the relationship that the entire Alchemy family has. That support would make you feel like you can take on the world. The ending with Belle at the dinner table when she mentions Alchemy. That made me so happy UGH.
This was the perfect combination of steamy & beautifully motivating. A story of not two lovers but three who have to work together to overcome hurdles to figure out how they can be in a place to love one another.
Max is so freaking perfect. I loved everything about him. Don’t tell anyone but he’s my fave 🤭💦 Darcy was so damn fun & spunky & the perfect piece to glue the trio together. Dex was such a sweetie boy turned dirty slut & I’m v proud of him.
Even though this book was fillllllled to the brim with spice, there were some moments that had my heart full from the motivating words spoke between Max & Dex. The moments between those two were my favorite & you could truly feel the love & chemistry.
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
Tropes: MMF Age gap Sex club vibes Possessive alpha hole
Darcy who? This may be the only actual review I ever write on here, which should tell you how disappointed I was. I wanted so badly to love this book as I have the rest of the series so far. And I was extremely excited about the prospect of a poly relationship, especially after all the group play we saw in earlier books. Yes, the spice was definitely spice-ing, to no surprise. For the sole fact that the spice was incredible, I’m giving it 3 ⭐️ (which is really a rounded up 2.75) and 5 🌶️, even though I seriously wanted to list it at 2. I’m not one to write full reviews but I was so frustrated with this one that I had to share, and I noticed others had similar issues. I’m glad to hear I wasn’t alone. I have not finished the book yet but I am 94% through and I had to step away because this was really bothering me and I had to get it off my chest.
Spoilers ahead: — I LOVE a good MMF story, I thrive in the “Why Choose” genre. But this realm takes a lot of character development and relationship progression. Which, granted, Max and Dex had (some of) that. But where on earth was Darcy????
I would like to note that we had maybe two or three 1:1 spice scenes with Darcy and one of the guys… the entire book…. And it was only ever Max (unless by some miracle Darcy gets some Dex lovin’ in the final 4%, which doesn’t seem likely). Max and Dex? Honestly the two of them probably had more spice scenes than the throuple AND Darcy’s “solo ventures” combined. Don’t get me wrong, I loved Max and Dex together as much as the next person. And I loved seeing their relationship unfurl (ha, get it?). But with the way the group dynamic developed (or didn’t, really) this should have been a monogamous relationship between the two guys with maybe some group play that included Darcy, similar to other books in the series.
Darcy didn’t fit in the “throuple” AT ALL. And I dislike it more because Darcy even mentions (albeit twice and only internally) that she’s afraid of being left behind while Max and Dex go off into the sunset (which was a very valid fear and not far off from what happened) and it was never touched on again???? All of a sudden she was perfectly content with being CONSTANTLY left out and even encouraged it with no reassurance from either men that she was at all important or relevant in any situation? She was always an afterthought.
Not to mention that we didn’t get to see her relationship with Dex develop AT ALL. It was like they had their first hookup, Dex freaked out, Max screwed him a few times, and suddenly Dex is confessing his love to Darcy??? He doesn’t remember she exists half the time! And with that, all the “progression” we saw of Max and Darcy was in the first 25% of the book… I’m confused how the hell anyone “caught feelings” for her or she for them. The entire book was about Max and Dex, and I get why, I really do. Dex was struggling with that side of himself and Max pushed him into acceptance. If this was a monogamous MM relationship I probably would have given the book a solid 4⭐️. Alas, it wasn’t. If there was even two or three scenes that Dex and Darcy had together, 1:1 (THEY DIDN’T EVEN HAVE TO BE SPICY), I would have liked this so much more. I could have forgiven the lack of development for Max and Darcy together. But to not even TRY to develop Dex and Darcy’s relationship was criminal. Anything they had together was always off screen and therefore the whole dynamic felt forced.
So yes, the spice was great, 5🌶️ for sure. The story had some SERIOUS potential, with even a tiny bit of development with Darcy’s relationships. And if she didn’t exist at all, it really wouldn’t have been any different, but it would have made more sense.
Will I keep reading the series? Absolutely. But this one was a huge, unfortunate, disappointing miss for me.
(Side note, what was up with the random fancy words and descriptions thrown throughout?? It pulled me out of the story so often because I had no clue what the hell was happening. And truthfully, anyone who does probably isn’t reading this book.)
This ARC 🥹❤️ I had my original review done on in may and forgot to update it to my full one !
I absolutely love this whole series with my whole heart and this ARC was no different . Darcy (Gens sister) moves to London to work at Alchemy as a dancer . Max (who Gen has had previous encounter with) happened to be at the club watching her dance . He was so infatuated with her moves - just like everyone who watched her dance - that he propositioned her to do a private dance at his home . A night of dancing turned into one of the steamiest nights . The schmexual chemistry between them was UNREAL !
Then we have Dex (Belles Brother) who grew up in an extremely religious household and had different beliefs on sexuality .. who Darcy met at the club and feels chemistry with after talking , tells Max about her encounter and puts the threesome card on the table .
What happens when Max approaches Dex about a threesome with Darcy ? How will he react ?
The feelings I experienced from this book was unreal - especially where Dex finds himself . Watching him go through the emotions of dealing what he wants vs what was engrained into him from childhood was an emotional roller coaster . This book was so smokin hot , a cold shower couldn’t cool me down ! If you enjoy MMF , age gap , BDSM , and poly romance .. do yourself a favor and read this one ! 🤍
I’ve loved Sara Madderson’s Alchemy series (written under her pen name Elodie Hart) since it began with Belle and Rafe in Unfurl. And the circle comes back to its beginnings in book five, UNSTITCH.
All the original Alchemy (that very dirty sex club that we Elodie Hart fans pant heavily over) owners have found love, so it feels right to come back to characters we’ve heard about, but mostly not met — Belle’s brother Dex, Gen’s sister Darcy, and bad boy Max, who was also lasciviously featured in Gen’s book.
Elodie/Sara is a gifted writer, who has a way of tackling big topics with such poise, grace, and dexterity, I find myself nodding my head, pumping my fist, and crossing my legs, all at once! In UNSTITCH, she takes on religion, queer love, and multiple partners so beautifully, it seems effortless (though I’m sure it wasn’t).
Yes, it’s a queer MMF throupling this time… and it’s bloody awesome!
I love that all of her characters have such distinct personalities and voices, they flaunt the ‘normative’ and give us such huge entertainment, they’re a delight to read.
UNSTITCH is such a wonderful book (and super explicitly detailed if you ‘get’ me) and I can’t wait to read it again (already)!
I thought a lot about this review mostly because I don’t know how to put into words what I feel. Let’s start by saying that I was terrified to read it Hahahha. I have a HUGE negation towards books with more than two people in the relationship, if I see a book is going to be RH or any other type that has more than two people in it I just don’t pick it up. So when Sara (Elodie)let us know the fifth day instalment of the Alchemy series was going to be a MMF I was 😫😫😫😫😫 but my trust in Sara is greater than any of my previous doubts so I knew I was going to give it a chance. AND OF COURSE SHE DELIVERED!!! The amount of times I was over emotional over Dex is insane 😭😭😭 his journey of accepting himself was so beautiful to read that I couldn’t help but feel like he was someone I want in my life and hug him and reassure him that everything will be alright in the end. Oh but he has a lot of people around him that support him and I love the Alchemy family so, so much. Each and every single character in this series is so dear to me. And here I was thinking that Max was going to be a typical alpha hole only focused on his needs but then he was the king of pep talks and such a supportive partner, and even when he didn’t have the patience to wait for Dex he wasn’t mean at all, and that’s exactly what Dex needed. I have to be honest here and say that at some point I thought that maybe Darcy wasn’t needed and was only there as a catalyst for Max and Dex to get together but I WAS SO WRONG!! Darcy might be the catalyst but she’s also the glue that keeps them together, the perfect sweet partner between two guys that are kings on their professional lives and then they come home to her and are the sweetest guys. I was so moved by this entire story and I enjoyed every single page, even when Dex’s dad was there because I loved how Dex and Belle finally stand up to him. (Praying for him to end up alone with his misery and only his beloved God as company) There’s so many moments I lived in this book that I couldn’t list them all but I think that reading Dex’s journey was the best thing ever. Oh and the spice was 🥵🥵🥵🥵🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Seriously, if you haven’t read this series what are you doing with your life? It has it all!! Well fleshed characters that are amazing, a found family that will always be there for each other, love stories that are deep and emotional but sweet AF at the same time and incredible spice!! What else can one hope for???? But seriously, kudos to Sara/Elodie for such an incredible story that can be deep and sweet while being this hot. Can’t wait for the next one!!
I feel terrible but this is another MMF where it felt like the female character wasn't integral. It very much felt like Max and Dex were the couple and Darcy was just a fun add on.
When Max and Dex spoke about each other it was all "he is everything, I'd move heaven earth for him, he's all I could ever need". Whereas when they spoke about Darcy, it felt sort of luke warm. She felt like a plot device to bring the two men closer. Even in some of the smut scenes from Dex POV, he is talking about hoe Max is touching Darcy but his eyes are on Dex and it's clear Max wants Dex so badly.
I get that MMF is really difficult to pull off for the above reasons. As a bisexual person I've come across alot of MMF books or even MFF that just miss the mark.
the book is a little bit too long, writing is too fanficy at times, but max and dex are the powerhouse of this. actually, they give off ash and embry from new camelot series vibes (complimentary). do with that information what you will.
All I can say is wow!! Holy smokes this book certainly was a beautiful spicy treat!! Elodie has only gone and done it agin with another incredible book!!! The book follows Darcy, Max & Dex. Dex meets Darcy at Alchemy and hit it off straight away, Max coerces Dex into a threesome with Darcy, where Dex starts to unravel his own sexual desires for both men and women. From Dex having such a troubled past made it quite emotional to read; it was so nice to see Dex's story of becoming his true self and finding his worth and story .Elodie is such an incredible writer!! I love that all of her characters have such distinct personalities. All her books flow so good and get me so hooked that much that I find it impossible to put the book down. "You're perfect as you are. Your needs, your choices. You have a beautiful heart, and everyone who has you in their life is better for it. And if they don't accept you for who you are, they don't deserve to be in your life."- this quote was the highlight of the book. The fire and spice in this book was on a whole different level and did definitely not disappoint!! I highly recommend this book if you are after a good spicy book that you don’t want to put down once you have started it!!! I personally loved the fifth book to this series. I can’t wait to read what Elodie writes next. Thank you Elodie for the ARC copy of the book.
Well this was just a grand ole time ♥️😮💨 I freaking love these three. This book was not only so hot but so fucking sweet and I just live for this shit.
We’ve got Max, our hot dom, who is actually a thoughtful caring teddy bear. LOVE. Darcy, our hot club dancer who is a free spirit. And then sweet closeted Dex who falls so hard. Actually, they all fall hard 😅
I love an MMF romance but what I really loved most about this one was not only seeing the three of them together but the pieces we got of just Dex / Max, Max / Darcy, and Dex / Darcy. It felt so special to get to really see their individual connections as well as the connection they all have together.
Also, kudos to Elodie on this ending! No third act breakup but a very sensible ultimatum. I felt like the way the conflict was handled was beautiful. I really appreciated it not being a hard ultimatum, I feel like Max is so understanding of Dex’s position and it was just so well done!
The spicy, was filthy. The love, was beautiful. THE AUDIO!! SPECTACULAR 🥵 10/10 would recommend 🫶😮💨
This 5th installment of Elodie Hart’s Alchemy series sees a bit of a departure from the previous 4 books . . . this time there is an MMF relationship at the center of the story. MMC1, Dex, was introduced in the 1st book, & I was intrigued by his very existence just because he was Belle’s brother & I wanted to see how he handled their overly-religious father’s attitude. Funnily enough, Dex starts out almost as buttoned-up as his father, just without the trappings of religion. But it’s because Dex is hiding things from the world & even from himself. MMC2 is Max Hunter, whom we met in Unveil & were given a glimpse at this sexy playboy who truly enjoys an active sex life. Darcy, the MMF, was also introduced to us as she’s the sister of one of the Alchemy founders. But now she’s back in London & dancing at the posh London sex club & looking to have some fun along the way. And boy does she find it! If you enjoy lots & lots of steam between a man & a woman, you’ll find it here. If you also like some steamy scenes between 2 men, you’ll find that here, too. And if you love super-steamy scenes involving 2 men & 1 woman . . . this book will make you very happy! And if you like just a little bit of angst but lots of support & encouragement from a cast of wonderful characters that you just know you’d have so much fun hanging out with, then Unstitch is absolutely for you!! And if you prefer sweet, wholesome, Hallmark-level of romance & no foul language . . . you might want to give this one a miss. No judgment either way. Unstitch is book 5 of an interconnected series & can definitely be read alone, but fair warning — you’ll want to go back & read the others when you’re done!
This is the 5th book in the Alchemy series, I didn’t think I could top my feelings after Cal and Aida’s story in Untether but Elodie pulled it out of the bag with Unstitch.
I admit I was slightly apprehensive going into this book as this was my first time reading a MMF and MM trope, I should have known I could easily hand my first over to Elodie to provide an absolute banger and have me hot, squirming and wanting more.
The storyline follows Max, Darcy and Dex. Max is the sexy dominant (and well known to Gen 😉, Darcy is Gen’s baby sister who can certainly hold her own and is as sexy as hell. Dex is Belle’s brother and I’m officially in love with him, it was so incredible powerful to follow his journey discovering and accepting his bi sexuality.
Max although the dominant had a heart of gold, he totally won me over in the end. When I read this it summed him up ❤️ “I’m a selfish man. I take and I push, without thought or remorse, but he makes me want to be selfless, because in this moment I neither want to take or push him. I simply want to free him”
If you’re a die hard fan of the Alchemy series you are going to adore this book, if you haven’t read any of them i highly recommend Unstitch but recommend you start with Unveil first, you won’t regret it.
Whew. Elodie, is it just getting hotter with each book?
Max has been warned. Stay away from Darcy, who's now dancing at Alchemy and Gen's (FMC of the previous book), little sis. Darcy has been warned, too. But neither listen to Gen.
Both are free spirits in a way. And they're getting a long great. But then Darcy meets Belles (FMC of book 1), brother Dex. And is instantly smitten. He is as well. But when he finds out she's in a relationship, he shuts down. But Darcy doesn't forget him. And in fact shows him to Max.
What starts out as simple (well, to Darcy and Max) becomes very complicated for Dex. He's got a complicated relationship with his parents and with himself. But Dex truly finds himself.
It's very spicy, so if that's not your thing then...
Received as an ARC in return for my honest review.
🖤 Polyamory- MMF 🖤 Age gap 🖤 Sex club setting 🖤 Bi awakening 🖤 Multiple POV
I don’t know where to start…..honestly I think this was my favourite of the Alchemy series so far. Elodie’s ability to tell a story that has you kicking your feet with happiness one minute and then feeling the turmoil of life for her characters the next is unmatched.
I adored Dex, Max and Darcy together, their dynamic worked so well and once they’d figured things out it was so rewarding to see their partnership blossom. Darcy had me in stitches at times, she’s just what I love in an FMC, independent and not afraid to ask for what she wants. The balance between Max’s assertiveness and Dex’s shy nature was really nicely done too, it was the perfect balance.
Now just to wait for Natalie and Adam to tell their story, it’s going to be good, I can already tell!
I got an arc of this book and was not disappointed. I have loved every one of the books in this series and love this one just as much. I wasn't sure what to expect because she hadn't written a queer/poly relationship before. I'm always nervous to read about a queer relationship written by a straight person but this was done really well. She really did her research and due diligence in being authentic to the characters and their experiences. This book is incredibly spicy but like all the Elodie Hart books has serious themes like purity culture, homophobia, and religious trauma and she handles them really well. I implore you to read and fall in love with Max, Dex, and Darcy just like I did.
In this instillation of the Alchemy series, Elodie brings in three players we have met before. Dex, Belle’s brother who deals with the same war with his upbringing that Belle did but to a greater extreme. Darcy, Gen’s sister who is tired of being religated to the “good” child role. Max, Anton Wolff’s best friend and now CEO of Wolff’s company. The push and pull, the battle of conscious, and the heart between the three is everything you have come to expect from Elodie’s books. The underlying message of self acceptance is one anyone would benefit from hearing and taking to heart. But don’t let that fool you. This book is hot as f@#$!🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ Take to heart the content warning posted, and then enjoy the ride.
Wow! This story is aa beautiful as it is steamy. It is truly Dex's journey to accepting himself and living his true life. Max and Darcy are the perfect compliment to him creating a safe place for Dex. Each book in the Alchemy series gets better than the last!
Ok, this author has taken something g people may look at and say, “this is a threesome book, so it’s going to be salacious!” But, reader, this is SO. MUCH. MORE.
I do not want to get into too much detail, but this book is thoughtful, sensitive, beautiful and gives you so much to think about. It’s a little different and does touch on religious themes.
Before I finish this review, think about the idea of the power of three. We see that repeatedly throughout literature, society, religion and it’s often a power theme, with 3 equal parts joined together to create that mystical power, this story made me think about that idea.
Elodie Hart has outdone herself with this book. I can’t wait to see what’s next!
OMG 🥵🌶️❤️❤️❤️ What an absolute thrill it was to read the ARC of Untether!! I have been enthralled with this series but this story was one of my favorites in the series. 🔥🔥 This is an MMF spicy romance. We’ve been introduced to Max, Darcy and Dex to differing degrees in previous books in the series. But their story was absolute fire!
First you have the powerfully confident and irresistible playboy Max, a force to be reckoned with. He sees the beautiful and free spirited Darcy and knows he needs to have her and so begins his relentless pursuit. Darcy currently a dancer at Alchemy then meets the sweet, brilliant, and devastatingly handsome Dex under a conservative mask and invites him to watch her dance while also revealing her connection with Max. Max learns of Dex from Darcy and is immediately intrigued. And let me tell you, the attraction, chemistry, dirty talk and spice is next level. Mix in power, denial, long held beliefs, expectations, drama, and love and you have a hell of a story. I love the emotional intelligence and self awareness the author gives many of her characters and the support shown by their Alchemy group and partners is brilliant. And once again no third act breakup!!! 🙌. That is so refreshing!! The author did an excellent job of crafting a sexy, engaging, emotional and entertaining story that I never wanted to end! Bravo Elodie Hart!!!! 👏👏👏👏
Unfuckingreal. I LOVED this book. I don’t know if any author has written love, sex and romance any better than Elodie. I listened to the audiobook and the narrators did a beautiful job, especially with the spice scenes and the emotional rollercoaster Dex goes on. This book is beautiful, the writing is incredible, and Elodie needs to write a million more books! 5/5 spice and 5⭐️ read for me!
I love how all the characters from previous books are still present and personalities/actions are consistent. They all make up a found family which I love.
This one is about Darcy (Gen’s little sister), Max (Anton’s CEO) and Dex (Belle’s older brother).
Max is a very attractive, older (crusty old Brit according to Darcy😆) successful man. Sure of himself. Gets what he wants, always. He’s an Alchemy regular and doesn’t do relationships normally. He loves the chase.
Darcy is a dancer at Alchemy but is NOT allowed to indulge there, big sister Gen’s rules. A beautiful and loveable free spirit. Max wants what he can’t have.
Dex is relocating to London after living and working in NYC. His dad is an intolerant catholic nut. He’s in a bit of denial that he probably likes men as well as women. He is morally offended by even the idea of Alchemy but he is beguiled by Darcy and reluctantly agrees to go and watch her dance…
Darcy wants Dex. Max also wants Dex. Dex wants to bury his head in the sand.
I liked this book a lot, but by the end Darcy did just feel a bit like a conduit for a relationship between Max and Dex.
The book was a bit longer than it needed to be. I get that Max and Dex are business and finance bros but I was here for the ménage chemistry and bi awakening not the business chats 😆
Well, well, well..Elodie has done it again. The plot and the spice of this book right here, exquisite. The MMF spice really is top tier.
I love the character development, especially of Dex. Dex can have my whole heart because he is just a wholesome specimen. Dex really did have to dig deep in this book to find himself and of course his Alchemy family was there for support the whole time.
Max definitely commands the room when he enters. Darcy is so lovable and carefree, so no wonder these two men are smitten over her. I see why they all fit so well together.
I love reading interconnected seres where other characters make appearances. I just really appreciate Elodie’s writing and how in tune she is with each character, especially writing from multiple POV’s. There are definitely big topics in this book, especially religion and sexuality, but of course Elodie has gracefully showcased that in her writing style. I will be really sad when this series ends because I have enjoyed each book as the series progresses.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. Thank you to the author for allowing me to read this book in advance.
