My boss, the drop-dead gorgeous new Fire Chief, is my ex. And one smile still melts me.
I don’t realize Jace Matthews is back in town until his flirtatious grin greets me in his office. As my north star during college, his rejection continues to sting.
He’s a single dad, my brother’s best friend, and my boss… top-rung-of-the-ladder off-limits. I’m his sassy assistant who rambles, stumbles, and vows to stay professional.
One night at a fire, our eyes lock in fear, and everything shifts.
He shares his painful past, adores his daughter, and pulls me in with his daredevil charm and playful banter.
I succumb to love and want his azure eyes to claim me again.
Then Bree Hollow ignites with suspicious fires, and I become the arsonist’s target. Jace investigates, alerts the community, and keeps me close.
He swears his protection, but this battle isn’t only against flames. It’s for my heart, my life, and a future that could vanish in one final blaze.
Firefighter’s Forbidden Flame is a closed door romance. All the sizzling chemistry. No spice. No steam. No swearing.

i love the suspense and second chance love story was just amazing !!! Jace and Emma's story in their college years they werre a coupke that had plans for future before graduatioon they drifted apart... Bree ended up returning back to Hollow and Jace was returning to his postion of fire cheif ... The awarkard meeting for them, to work to recover theiri feelings that were lost aswell as trying to get a handle oon an arsonist. I was hooked to the story as i wanted to know more
I wanted to rate this 3.5, but i am not given the option here to do that. I loved the plot and the characters were wonderful. it more of a second chance than a forbidden, but it has depth and shouldn't be forgotten. It was so sweet to read. The guilt felt can be related to and is part of why it gave it 3.5. you should definitely read this.
Great book really enjoyed it. The mystery in story kept me reading. The H and h were connected in college and the h expected to marry, but the H left to go the city. There he married, became a police officer and then a firefighter. He comes to the town as the fire chief and also is a single father. He has a 4 year old daughter who he loves very much. The h is already working for the fire department as an assistant to the fire chief. She originally was angry with the H because of what he did to her in the past, but seeing him interact with people and his daughter she forgives him. When fires begin to break out and an accelerant are found at the scene with a note the H knows there a particular person from his past is behind the fires. As the H seeks the responsible person the h joins him in the search. In the end the search results in success with the help of many people. The H and h are able to get their HEA. As the story proceeds it is filled with unexpected events and you are kept reading to see what happens next. When you think they are about to succeed something happens and success slips away. If you like mystery you can’t help but love this book and then there is romance to have you rooting for the H and h for something else. Enjoy!
Firefighter's Forbidden Flame is a suspenseful, second chance love story with all the sizzle and none of the spice. A great read that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Why is she forbidden? What is happening in the quiet town of Bree Hollow? Who is at fault?
In this book the reader is introduced to Jace Matthews and Emma Hayes. In their college years they were a couple with plans for the future, but like so many others before graduations they drift apart. Fast forward to a time when Emma has already returned to Bree Hollow and Jace is just returning to a position of fire chief. After the awkward initial meetings, Jace and Emma work to recover feelings that were lost while trying to get a handle on an arsonist. Jace came home to find peace for him and his daughter after loosing his wife, but instead he finds that trouble has followed him home. Emma is shocked to find Jace in the chief's office and to realize that her feelings are still there. Before Jace can move forward, he has to figure out why this arsonist has followed him, what is his target, keep Emma and his daughter safe, and catch the arsonist before he gets a chance to strike again.
I was on the edge of my seat waiting for the identification of the arsonist and his logic. I totally unprepared for the answers. The suspense kept my attention and I didn't want to put it down. Highly recommend this one. It is a quick read that will keep you engrossed.
This is the second book I have read by Kylie and she tells a great story. I received this book for free from the author and am voluntarily leaving this review.
Firefighter’s Forbidden Flame is such a beautiful, emotional, and uplifting story! I loved every moment between Jace and his spirited assistant, the chemistry, the banter, and the slow-burn tension were all perfectly done.
The author does a wonderful job balancing romance, suspense, and heart, weaving in touching moments of healing and love with the excitement of the mystery fires. Jace’s devotion to his daughter and his strength as a firefighter made him impossible not to love.
It’s clean, emotional, and deeply satisfying, the kind of story that keeps you turning pages late into the night. A perfect read for anyone who enjoys sweet, second-chance love stories filled with warmth, courage, and hope.
Quite literally one of the worst books I’ve ever read. Let’s talk about a few of the things that made it terrible:
1. If the town was so small, how did she not know he was gonna be police chief? how does she not know everything about him since her brother was his best friend— at least the whole my wife died thing?
2. The random ily after only being back in town for literally no time. Gross and didn’t feel genuine at all. The whole love story was really rushed and not well done at all.
3. The whole secret twin, secret sister thing was pointless
Kylie knocked this one out of the park. If you don't have an entire swing of emotions from deep sadness to full-on anger for the arsonist, to heart-warming love for Lily, there is something lacking. Emma never dated anyone else after their agreed upon split when they were fresh from college, and Jace only fell in love once again, but not with the same fervor that he loved Emma. Kylie writes in a way that you can not help but feel the emotions from both Emma and Jace. This is an outstanding five star.
Fire Fighter’s Forbidden Flame is a stand alone sweet, second chance romance with a hea.
Jace left Emma heartbroken but now he’s back and he’s her boss. These are good, likeable characters and Lily is an absolute sweetheart. The story is good if a little over descriptive at times. A firefighter, romance and a little danger .. what’s not to like? I enjoyed this book and definitely recommend it to all fans of this genre and anyone looking for an easy read to lose themselves in for a while.
I went into this book with zero expectations, but it turned out to be one of my favorite ARCs of the year! Second-chance romance isn't usually my go-to trope, but this story handled it wonderfully. The added touch of mystery was captivating and kept me turning the pages. I did feel that Jace and Emma's conversations occasionally wavered between being too slow and then too rushed, which took away from the flow. Overall, though, this is a fantastic read that I’d highly recommend!.
If your looking for a sweet closed door romance with action, this is it. There is more focus on the present than the shared past, with characters who have a history not fully explained, despite most of the plot being about the history. A bit of a twist to keep it interesting. Overall not a bad story, although would have liked a bit more explanation on shared history.
2nd chance romance in small town Bree Hollow. Jace and Emma's story of 2nd chance after 10 years. Firefighting, serial fires, danger from Jace's past keep the story intense and won't let you put it down until it's done. If you like the the genre, this book is definitely for you.

This is not your usual romance story. There is plenty of suspense to keep you on your toes. The author is a good storyteller because she had me thinking she was going in a completely different direction. It's nice to see a male lead that is vulnerable. This is the first book I have read by this author, and I look forward to reading more from her in the future!
Jace Matthews had lost his wife Sarah when their home burned down when he was not home. Jace and his daughter Lily then moved back to Bree Hollow where he had grown up. Now he is hoping for a new start as the new Fire Chief. He finds his assistant is Emma Hayes, his girlfriend through high school, whom he left behind when we left Bree Hollow. So much for a new start? There is much conflict, suspense and an unexpected outcome in the book. I hope you will enjoy the book as much as I did.
Kylie Kidd turns up the heat with Firefighter’s Forbidden Flame. The forbidden romance trope is handled with intensity and heart, and the hero’s bravery both on and off the job is truly captivating. This book is a fiery, passionate read you won’t want to miss.
You’ll really enjoy reading this book. It is fast moving, sweet and really touching. And then there’s the suspense and bizarre twists that you never even thought of. Romantic suspense at its best!
Loved reading this book. Second chance for Jace and Emma. Closed door romance. Facing old flames and past memories plus current events that are trying to pull them apart. So awesome that they found their HEA in the end!
This book was just a little bit predictable, which made it boring. I didn't really believe the main two characters' attraction either, and I think the trauma was not really dealt with in a satisfying way.
was a lot more suspenseful than romance in my opinion. quick closed door which i feel like you don’t see a lot of in this specific genre. probably won’t read the rest in the series just cause the writing style isn’t my fav but still a solid book.
