Forbidden kisses, obsession and the definition of insanity
Mara
As a psych nurse at Wellard Asylum she has seen a lot in her day. She has always been the good girl, slowly climbing up the ladder of employment by following the rules. By having such a career driven focus Mara has never had any time for romance…except for longing looks and secret closet moments with her sisters alluring boyfriend. There is something inviting and mysterious about him. Will the taboo taste of his body become too much to deny? When Maras sister ends up killed and the evidence points to none other than her sisters boyfriend , Mara has to learn to break some rules to get him free from a prison she knows all too well; The asylum she works for.
Jinx
There are dark secrets surrounding Jinx. His dead girlfriend is but one of them. The obsession to claim Mara for his own has grown so much more than those few forbidden moments. Jinx has become a mask of himself, succumbing to his need to break all the rules. It’s amusing to him watching Mara desperately cling to answers that she can clearly see the truth in. Her denial is his salvation. Can he escape his addiction to the one thing holding the key to his true freedom…or will she be his permanent damnation?
A primal chase of denial and addiction. Who killed Mara’s sister? Can She free Jinx from the accusations? Will the truth set them free…or burn them in the end.
What do you get when you have a horror lover with daddy issues? A whorror author! I am all things gore and (w)horror! My list of publications is the Reflections series, the connective Asylum Devils series, Bodies duet, Bloody Valentine from the St. Valentine series, and Mara of the Wellard asylum series. I have a lot of works in progress and can't wait to share them with you all!
Read your trigger warnings! (For real, I warned you.)
This book fucked me all the way up. In the beginning I was like 🥵💦💦 and then right after that I was like 👀🍿. The back and forth pull that Mara was experiencing had me hooked the entire time. At times I was frustrated with her but that just goes to show how amazing SK did with writing her story. It’s like when you watch a movie or tv show and you completely loathe the villain? That means the actor/actress did an incredible job at playing their roll. Same applies here.
Jinx had me in some weird ass chokehold. One minute I was panting and the next I was questioning my moral code and wondering if he even had one. He is one fucked up individual to say the least, but still hot. lol
Cheese is the most adorable little creature. I want to take cheese home with me.
I loved the use of the asylum Mara worked at as it reminded me of the triplets. (If you haven’t read Twist Me, go do that and then come back. I’ll wait.) SK has a great way of interweaving all of her different series and standalones together while still giving them their own identities.
I went through a range of emotions. Mara was sassy and strong, yet so fragile. Jinx was hot and well unhinged beyond unhinged. I laughed at some one liners and train of thoughts by the characters, but then other times I was either in shock or crying my eyes out. It definitely kept me on the edge of my seat.
I would recommend this book over and over again to all of the dark romance lovers out there. Amazing book!
*I did read this as an Alpha reader and this is my honest review*
Please make sure to check the trigger warnings before diving in.
If you’ve read S.K.’s books before then you already know to expect the unexpected as well as the unhinged, the unpredictable, and the utterly fascinating characters! I am so here for all of it. Mara is the final installment in the Wellard Series. It follows nurse Mara who is working in an asylum. Her life has not been easy and her younger sister is constantly demanding her attention. When the two meet up so the sister can introduce her new boyfriend, Mara realizes she’s seen him before and somehow, he already knows far too much about her. From that moment, their lives spiral into a dark, twisted game where the lines between predator and prey blur. Who’s in control? Who will come out on top? You’ll just have to read and experience it for yourself. Jinx’s unhinged energy is pure perfection. His mind games are intense, addictive, and impossible to predict. There’s spice, death, deception, and enough dark turns to keep you second-guessing everything. As for the ending… well it leaves you to question, is this truly the end of Wellard, or just the beginning of something even darker than you originally believed?
This was just as perfect as the other books from the series I read, just as unhinged and filled with emotional rollercoasters. I LOVE Cheese (the pet not the food tho I also love that🤣) he was adorable and so perfect!
The characters were so good, it was very very steamy if you know what i mean and it was a short and thrilling story and I definitely recommend it! I finished it in one sitting and I just couldn’t put it down! I can’t wait to have all the books on my shelves!
If you’ve read any of SK’s books you will know she always adds some unhinged, unexpected and uncharacteristic characters…and I’m right there for it all 🤭
Mara, the last in the Wellard Series is a nurse at the asylum, her life hasn’t been a bed of roses and her younger sister is always demanding her attention. They meet up, to introduce a new boyfriend though Mara has already met him and he seems to know a lot about her. Let’s just say from this point on their lives become entwined in a dark and dangerous game but who are the players? Who will conquer and win? I’m not elaborating anymore, you will have to read and digest it yourself 😉
Absolutely, loved it. Jinx, being as unhinged as he is works so well, the game he instigates has so many intriguing turns you struggle to even work them out…though you don’t want to 🤣 There are plenty of spicy times, a few d3aths, a lot of dark twists and the ending of Wellard…or is it?? I can’t wait to hear from Jinx again 🫣
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ARC Review – MARA (The Wellard Asylum Series, Last Book of the Shared World) by S.K. Pryntz
⚠️ Please, DON’T SKIP THE TRIGGER WARNINGS. This story goes very dark and might not be for everyone. Read them carefully before diving in.
Without having read anything by S.K.Pryntz before, and without reading the previous books in the Wellard Asylum Shared World, I have to say this one completely blew me away. Five solid stars. What a phenomenal ending. Honestly, it felt like the perfect closure even for someone who came into the series blind like me.
This was my first book by S.K. Pryntz, and from the very first page, I was hooked. She has such a powerful way of writing, she keeps you on edge, makes you feel everything, and drags you straight into the story. It’s intense, cinematic, and deeply emotional.
The story is dark, raw, and full of tension. About the MMC… I hated him for most of the book, honestly. He’s a total asshole and that’s part of what makes the story so powerful, because you feel that frustration and anger all the way through.
As for Mara, she’s complex. There were moments when I thought, girl, come on, but she’s not blind to what’s happening. She’s full of guilt and regret, but at the same time, she can’t fight against what she feels or what she’s become. That internal struggle (her conscience versus her actions) makes her such a fascinating and tragic character. She’s also completely manipulated by Jinx, especially toward the end, and since she only sees one side of the truth, her reality is totally warped.
The ending was absolutely apotheosic, the perfect explosion of everything that had been building up. I honestly hope this won’t be the last time we see this world, because I’d love to know what happens next.
This book is a masterpiece, and S.K. Pryntz’s writing has completely won me over. I’ll definitely be reading more of her books from now on.
Lastly, huge thanks to the author for the chance to read this book early. It’s been an intense, emotional, and unforgettable experience. If you haven’t read S.K. Pryntz yet, you need to. She’s absolutely worth it.
You get unhinged MMCs… and then you get UNHINGED MMCs — and Jinx is absolutely the latter. This man takes insanity to a whole new level, and I loved every single second of it.
If you’re into completely twisted, pitch-black stories with trigger warnings longer than your TBR list, this one’s for you. It’s a dark, taboo, psychologically messed-up ride that dives straight into the minds of the morally deranged — and somehow, you can’t look away.
The writing is gripping and immersive, every chapter pulling you deeper into the chaos. Yes, it ends on a cliffhanger, but there’s just enough closure to keep you from screaming — while still ensuring you’ll one-click the next book immediately.
Romance? Sure… in the most psychotic, broken way imaginable — the kind that leaves you wrecked but begging for more. And the spice? Off the charts.
A must-read for anyone who thrives on the darker side of romance. Proceed with caution — and zero regrets.
If you’ve never read a book by SK Pryntz.. please READ TRIGGER WARNINGS!! Like seriously, I mean it. SK is known for writing extremely unhinged, psycho characters and this book is no different.
This book…. I feel like I’ve been staring at the epilogue repeatedly saying “WTF”, over and over again for hours. What a way to finish the Wellard Asylum series. This book is an absolute mind f*k and I’m so here for it! The twists were twisting.. the spice was spicing.. and bloody hell the chaos and unhinged parts were off the chain. I absolutely devoured it! It’s fast paced and psychotic. Has you questioning your sanity to how you could think that you want a piece of such a psycho MMC.. but here I am drooling over him.
My biggest questions to myself after this book though, do I need a Cheese or a Fluffy? How much would my family hate me if I got both? I feel like I need both.
Thank you SK again for the mind f*ckery! You know how to get my twisted brain going. I can’t wait to hear what happens next in the story of Mara and Jinx.
4⭐️4🌶️ The ending was crazy! Definitely a wild and fitting way to wrap up the Wellard Asylum series — but that epilogue 👀 I’ll absolutely be keeping an eye out for whatever’s coming next.
Jinx was the perfect mix of alluring and absolutely unhinged (my favorite combo 😌), and Mara, girl, I love you… but some of those choices? Whew 😭 questionable at best.
I’ve read a handful of SK’s books now and she never misses. Her dark romance + erxtic horror blend hits every time, and somehow I’m always left wondering if I’m okay for enjoying it this much 😂
What a book! It gave me the feeling of being a patient in Wellard. The events playing out gave me the sense of unease as if I was losing my mind. Mara was so indecisive about what she wanted and hurting others. She was always the protector for her sister but what now? The MMC a sexy unhinged stalker biker wow that was a mouthful. How did he come to find Mara? What was he willing to do to get her? This is a must read!
Love this book! Wow! Amazingly written. The book flows well between the different settings and people. The characters have depth and as a reader you can feel how the characters feel. Mara working at the asylum and Jinx being deliberate in his behavior sculpts the plot. The push and pull and the dilemma between the characters drives this book. Be mindful of your triggers.
What a way to end the series. I couldn't have predicted a better ending for Wellard Asylum myself if I tried.
That ending had me fucked up. Seriously...what happens next?? I NEED TO KNOW.
This book absolutely delivered on everything it promised. It was dark, fucked up, and hot as sin.
If ever an MMC has had me in a chokehold, it's Jinx. He was one truly bad guy, with no redeeming qualities, but could I look away? Get enough of him? Not a chance.
I'm just as trapped in his orbit as Mara, and I can't wait to see what comes next for these two.
This book is book 14 of the Wellard Asylum with 14 different authors Make sure u read TWs before u read this book
Mara is deaf and works at the asylum, and her sister Gigi's new boyfriend Jinx is obsessed with Mara, and he is unhinged. The back and forth banter between Mara and Jinx is good and had me chuckling a few times. This book does end on a cliffhanger, and I can't wait to read the next one. Omgoodness, this book is so good that it had me hooked from beginning to end, and I'm definitely gonna read the rest of the series with the other authors.
Mara is an erotic horror and the final book in the Wellard Asylum Series. First of all, this entire series has just been one banger after another, and this was such a wildly unhinged and fitting end to the series. This was my first book by this author and I’m 𝙤𝙗𝙨𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙚𝙙! I was hooked from the very first page and read this in one sitting. Jinx is beyond dark, morally black, and unhinged, but he still managed to have me in a chokehold throughout the book. I loved and hated him equally, his character was exceptionally captivating. I loved Mara’s character, she was complex and her internal struggle was well written. The smut in this story was absolutely top tier and the dynamic between Mara and Jinx was oh so wrong, but so addictive.
❗️This is definitely one you’ll need to check the triggers for before reading as the story is beyond dark at parts, but I absolutely loved this.❗️
🔪Shared world 🔥Unaliver mystery 🦂Asylum setting 💀Sister’s boyfriend 🔪Erotic horror 🔥Psychotic games 🦂Primal 💀ALL the triggers
What a great way to finish up my reading for October! This was gory, horrific, and just totally f*cked up…and I loved every second of it 😂 If you’re a fan of horror, I highly recommend reading this!
There is no “morally grey” MMC, there are no redeeming qualities in Jinx. Mara was so blind to all of it, and I wanted to yell at her like I yell at the actors in horror movies. The spicy scenes were 10/10, but also majorly f*cked up. I know a lot of people skip the trigger warnings in books and dive right in, but I HIGHLY suggest reading them for this one.
Um hello, hot biker stalker? Count me in! I could not get enough of this book! Jinx is an absolute catch, he may be a a little insane but that's the whole point of this series isn't it? Mara is used to the insanity with working at Wellard, so she welcomes it with open arms, even when she definitely shouldn't. He will go through all the lengths and hoops to make sure that Mara will be his.
Wow! What a wild ride. Mara is a nurse at Wellard and meets a charming man and hooks up with him all to find out he's her sister's new boyfriend. Now Jinx is obsessed. He wants Mara and nothing will stop him. She tries to resist his pull but gives in again. When something terrible happens to Mara's sister and Jinx is blamed, the asylum goes up in smoke.
SK seems to always make me say WTF when I'm done with one of her books. This was no different and I can't wait for what's next. Was gripped from the start wondering what was going to unfold at Wellard. This was crazy. You want twisted then give this a read. Check TWs but so worth it.
This book had me on the edge of my seat. The spice was delicious. Jinx is so crazy and wicked. The ending had me messed up. The cliff hanger is one for the ages. Is mara gonna be a phoenix and rise from the ashes or will she die trying.
I was the lucky bitch who got to ARC the last two books of this series, Unwell by Effie Campbell and Mara by S.K. Pryntz and I am living for it because both of these baddies had me all the way fuckkkkked up and in chokeholds with both reads. So much so I was giving play-by-play reactions on my socials.
Sooooo let's get into it. Firstly, if S.K. Pryntz writes it.... I'm fucking reading it and my fat ass is skipping right on over the eight page trigger warning list because I don't even want to know. This is the only way in which I like to be surprised in life actually But she could write her great-grandma's alligator tale chicken strip recipe on the back of a CVS receipt in red crayon and I'm going to fucking read it. D E V O U R I N G . I T

We kicked right off in Wellard Asylum with patients unaliving themselves and the new staff wanting to quit just as soon as they stop tossing their breakfast in a mop bucket. And honestly, if I watched someone smash their melon into a wall, I'd probably lose my breakfast and want to rethink my career choices too. But in comes Mara. She is our fierce, protective, badass FMC who is a nurse at Wellard. She sweet talks the new staff into calming down and takes them for ice cream because nothing says "way to handle that traumatic work experience" like frozen custard. Alex is thankful though. And our girl is hella thankful too because not only is Alex not quitting, but they are also going to be a buffer when she meets her sister + her sister's new boyfriend at the yogurt shop. Two birds, one stone essentially. But Mara gets more than just yogurt there.
If you aren't having a tall, tattooed biker eat your whole fucking cat off the bathroom sink of said yogurt shop are you even living life? And the way he stares you down afterwards as he licks his face?! gahhhhhh dammmnnnn Mara had her world thoroughly rocked. Knees weak. Arms heavy. Hair sexed. She couldn't even remember her own damn name or what she was there for. She got herself right though, came out, lost Alex and found her sister. She found her sister's new boyfriend too.
Yea the man who just gave her the best orgasm of her whole mf life is little sis's boyfriend.
Meet Jinx. He's the MMC. He is pitch fucking black. There is not a single redeeming quality about him. If you thought he was going to be the hero of this story or even the protector in any capacity..... you are dead wrong. He's unhinged. He's filthy. He's delicious. He will make you hate him so much you love him.
But isn't that how we like all of our MMC's in books?
I 181173775869709% recommend this book. It is erotic horror though and it is not for your grandma's book club. It will have you clutching pearls and questioning your morals. But if you want a book that's going to leave you feeling the way Mara felt in that yogurt shop bathroom then bahhhhbbbbyyyy I suggest you go get it, but you've been warned!
I have mixed feelings about this book. I didn’t really connect with the FMC, Mara, and found her to be annoyingly clueless at times which made it harder for me to enjoy the story. Jinx on the other hand was an interesting character, and I would like to learn more about him.
I would have loved Wellard asylum to be a bigger part of the story. Yes, Mara was a nurse there and some scenes did take place there but a lot of the story happened outside Wellard.
Please check the TW/CW before reading! This book is DARK and your mental health matters.
I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review. Receiving ARC didn’t affect my opinion of the book.
Mara is a haunting, heart-pounding blend of horror and romance that grabs you from the very first sentence and refuses to let go. S.K. Pryntz does an incredible job creating an inclusive and emotionally rich story the main character being deaf adds a layer of depth and representation that’s rarely seen in the genre, and the diverse cast feels authentic and refreshing.
The connection between Jinx and Mara is instant and electric, even under the unusual and forbidden circumstance of him being her sister’s boyfriend. Their chemistry builds tension that perfectly complements the eerie, unsettling atmosphere of the story.
It’s fast-paced, addictive, and full of twists that will have you on the edge of your seat and begging for more by the final page. Mara is everything I love in a dark romance: representation, danger, and undeniable passion woven together in a story that lingers long after you’ve finished reading.
Highly recommend for fans of dark romance and horror who crave intensity and inclusivity in equal measure.
Idk if it was simply because I personally didn't like some of the tropes/triggers or if the story was truly as disjointed as it felt. I just had a really hard time getting into it and understanding it.
Things that can be excused as personal preferences:
I don't like this particular cheating element. If her sister had been a horrible person, I could've been ok with it. But messing around with your loving sister's boyfriend just gave me the ick. Again, that's my personal opinion and trigger so I'm mostly mentioning this to maybe show that this is somewhat based on just personal preference and may have negatively impacted my overall rating.
I also really hated how he used Cheese as a way to fuck with her. I've been with an abusive man that harmed my pet to get back at me and this made me unsettled. I guess this would be the animal cruelty trigger...so I was warned.
Again, I'm trying to look at my own review with a critical eye but even aside from these triggers, I did take issue with the plot and overall storyline as well.
So here's my main issues:
I liked that Mara had a disability. It makes for an interesting and unique character...but beyond that, her development left a lot to be desired. She seemed beyond clueless. How could she never put 2 and 2 together? 🤦♀️ It was so aggravating.
We were given a small amount of flashback for Jinx. Maybe some background on the sisters, specifically Mara, would've helped make her more 3 dimensional. She just lacked so much development. More reasoning behind her motivations aka why she liked him at all, would've maybe helped sell it.
Same could honestly be said about Jinx. I really don't understand why he became obsessed with her. Why did he have that woman in the basement? (Yes, I know it was to learn more about Mara but again...WHY? When and why did this obsession start? Because she looked good in a bikini?) Did I skim over something maybe? Hell, it's possible. I felt like my attention kept drifting and my eyes were glazing over at times.
I feel like there was a massive plot hole. Or maybe I'm just being an asshole. Idk.
Maybe I'm trying to reach way too deep. But DAMNIT. it's not like I didn't read the rest of the series and come away mostly satisfied. I live for this shit. I just didn't completely understand THIS ONE.
So 3 stars because idk what to think. It's like a bad breakup and I just keep asking "is it me?"
It could be. Don't listen to a fucking word I say. Read it and decide for yourself.

Mara by Sk Prytnz ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ ⚠️Please read the trigger warnings at the start of the book⚠️ Mara is the last book in the Wellard Asylum and what an ending to a series.
This book will test your boundaries as a reader because this book is very dark. The MMC is one of the most unhinged character I've read, he has no morals, toxic and manipulative. Our FMC Mara works in Wellard Asylum treating delusional, schizophrenic patients. She is meeting up with her sister in the yoghurt shop, it was too busy in there and she couldn't find her sister. Instead she sees this hot biker (who later we realise is her sister's boyfriend Jinx) sitting in a booth and accidently get pushed on to his lap by another customer. She flirts with Jinx saying things like "Maybe I'm trying to to trap a pretty tattooed biker into my bed" but what Mara didn't realise it was Jinx who had set a trap for her. After the bathroom scene 🥵 Mara realises who Jinx is, he gives her an evil smirk, his plan is now in motion and Mara fell right into his trap. Jinx is so toxic, unhinged has all the red flags, he planned to get to Mara through her sister and he didn't care who got hurt or even killed along the way. In his eyes Mara was his to possess. Mara because so blind to what Jinx really was, she couldn't see the truth of what he really was in front of her. "The devil would be dragging me under right along with Jinx" - Mara. Even Mara begins to question her own sanity wondering had working in the asylum created a monster in her, as she began lusting after her sister's boyfriend. Mara wears cochlear implants and Jinx kept hidden from her along that he took ALS classes and by took he kidnapped Mara lecturer, that's how unhinged he is. Jinx wants to claim Mara, he wants her to belong to him but above all he wants her to succumb to his will. He even begins to stalk her online on the dating apps that's how obsessed he becomes.
I loved this book, it won't be for everyone because it is dark they're are things Jinx does to Mara and her sister that you realise he is a monster there's no redeeming him. So dark that I didn't appear on the colour spectrum. I was a shadow - Jinx. Tropes 🖤Unhinged MMC 😈Knife Play 🖤Degradation 😈All the triggers 🖤Taboo 😈Asylum setting

Wait?! What?! That can’t be the end!!! I need answers, SK Pryntz!! Please tell me we won’t have to wait long for more Jinx?!?! Please!!!
Like ok, what a way to end the Wellard Asylum series! This whole series has been one hell of an epic ride throughout a shared world of deranged, unhinged lunatics!! I have been so grateful to ARC read most of this series, so to get the opportunity to finish it out with Mara was everything!! This book was so worth the wait! And just like the rest of the series, this book was just as dark, chaotic and disturbing!
Mara is a nurse at Wellard, who despite her hearing disability, manages to handle what Wellard has to throw at her!! When she agrees to meet up with her sister one day, so Gianna can introduce her to her new boyfriend, she doesn’t expect to meet a hot biker in the yogurt shop, or take him into the bathroom for a quickie!! However this particular biker also happens to be her sister’s new boyfriend! Oops! Unfortunately for Mara, this begins a very dangerous game with a man, who clearly should be a patient at Wellard!
Jinx is the biker boyfriend of Gianna. He however has only been keeping her around in order to get to Mara, and force her to play his wicked game!! He is clearly disturbed and willing to go to great lengths to obtain the object of his desire. When a little unexpected situation happens that forces his plans to change, he adjusts quickly to continue to play his sick game, no matter the costs to others!
This book, like the rest of the series is extremely dark and can be very disturbing for some. Before reading, please check the TWs, if they don’t scare you away, dive right into the halls of Wellard and enjoy the ride! Just remember this is not a dark romance book, this is an erotic thriller.

You know those books that start off with “this probably won’t end well” energy? Yeah. This is one of them. Mara is dark, forbidden, and morally bankrupt in all the right ways — the kind of story that makes you want to wash your hands and then immediately reread it. Our FMC, obviously Mara is A psychiatric nurse at Wellard Asylum who has spent her life doing the “right” thing — until she didn’t. Her relationship with her sister’s boyfriend is the kind of mistake that burrows under your skin and refuses to leave. She’s pragmatic, loyal, and teetering on the edge of her own sanity. Our MMC Jinx is The alluring, possibly dangerous ex-boyfriend of Mara’s late sister. There’s something off about him — something that feels like obsession wrapped in charm. You know he’s bad news, but you’re still leaning closer to the flame anyway. So Mara has built her life around control — following rules, working her way up in the asylum, and pretending her attraction to her sister’s boyfriend was a one-time lapse in judgment. Then her sister turns up dead, and all the evidence points straight at Jinx. When Jinx is sent to Wellard Asylum, Mara’s professional detachment goes out the window. She knows something’s not right about the case, and she’s willing to risk her career — and her sanity — to uncover the truth. What follows is a descent into obsession as she navigates the twisted corridors of the asylum, where reality starts to blur and the truth is anything but clean. The more Mara digs, the more tangled things become — and the more she realises that Jinx isn’t just the patient she shouldn’t want; he’s the one man who understands her darkness. Their connection is electric, wrong, and addictive — the kind of chemistry that burns through morality and leaves only ash. Pryntz knows exactly how to toe the line between desire and madness. This book is unflinching, seductive, and unapologetically messy. It’s not just about who killed Mara’s sister — it’s about what happens when you fall in love with the monster you swore you’d never touch. Equal parts psychological thriller and erotic fever dream, Mara doesn’t give you clean answers — it gives you goosebumps and guilt.
This read was a case of really liking one character and feeling very so-so about another but I will say, this book has a banger ending and definitely left me wanting to read Jinx when it’s available. The ending was just brutal. I’ve read a few other of the Wellard Asylum books and this ending made me wonder if it was a collaborative decision or all of the authors? And if the series is continuing next October with more author collabs?
There are definitely some unanswered questions with this read and I hope we learn more in Jinx’s book. We don’t find out where his obsession with Mara comes from but I also haven’t read all of the books in the series so not sure if that connection is established elsewhere. Mara’s sister also has one POV chapter and her interpretation of their parents and growing up vastly differs from Mara’s which isn’t really explained and made me wonder about her true feelings.
I really liked Jinx, he was a great unhinged psycho and actually very smart and organized with how he controlled Mara with his differing personas. He was brutal and rough then would have these odd gentle moments. He’s a complex character for sure.
I less liked Mara. I just wasn’t rooting for her at all. I can’t even put my finger on it. I wasn’t feeling her with Jinx. She didn’t have that swirl of darkness in her that you need to put up with a guy like Jinx. Despite me enjoying Jinx’s character, I wanted Mara to get away from him. She wasn’t a match for him for me. I didn’t like her for him.
I enjoyed the push and pull of the story despite my feelings on Mara and the book left me wanting more in a good way, like I want to know more about Jinx. I would read the next one.
“Don’t pretend you won’t fucking love this, you filthy slut. You are my little fuck toy, Little Reaper. You are mine. My flesh to shred, my bones to break. I will undo each part of you before you finally meet death. I will not simply kill you. I will destroy you.”
OMG! This story totally messed with my head, made me fall for the villain when I damn well knew I shouldn’t, and had me hoping and praying that Mara would grow some damn balls! Did Mara fall for the bad boy because her lady parts kept screaming at her whenever he was around – hell yes, she did, but she should have listened to her gut a little bit closer.
Jinx had my head and my panties all messed up (literally). He was sexy, aggressive, possessive and fierce. But then when he lets out his other side, he is one totally fucked up and unhinged guy! Did I still want him – hell yes!
The banter was filled with so much emotional turmoil, angst, desire and lust that it just poured off the pages. There were times when I laughed a little, times when I was utterly shocked and disturbed, times when I caught myself panting for breath, but I was definitely on the edge of my seat throughout needing to know how this was going to play out in the end.
Filled with smutty spice, brutal violence, bloody death, shocking twists and turns that leave you gasping for breath and an ending that will have you saying WTF!! It was one hell of a dark, bloody and depraved rollercoaster ride and I loved every freaking crazy moment of it.
"You are mine. My flesh to shred, my bones to break. I will undo each part of you before you finally meet death. I will not simply kill you. I will destroy you." - Jinx.
The spiral staircase to hell is calling my name again. Your girl is more than happy to play in Wellard’s today 😈
In this place, monsters don't hide. They make you fall for them while you're already sinking to the floor. A little crazy looks good on everyone here. Must be the Wellard charm 😏
Ooh... I found Gigi, Mara, and Jinx today! 🍭
Sweet little Gigi. Perfect little doll in a perfect little cage. Believing she was kept away from love, unaware that the very walls around her were her only shield from the darkness. And there's Mara. Always first to fall, just so someone else can smile. She takes the hit. Sacrificing herself. The endless curse of the eldest 💔 She thought Wellard could keep her safe and that walls could keep the monsters out. But you know what? Monsters don't wait outside. They crawl under your skin and make a home 💀
And Jinx? That perfect tattoo artist and biker? He's a devil or a God. A storm you don't survive. He can burn you alive or make you melt. The kind that makes you wonder if he'll ruin you or save you ☠️
