A classic tale of good vs. evil. Our hero is a noble crusader who is magically trapped inside a nearly invincible metal robot by an evil Muslim sorcerer to kill the king. The spell is broken and the crusader is set free to fight for good in his all-powerful metal form. Not sure why he didn't just put one of his own men in that tin can, but it's probably best not to think about it. Regardless, this is a really fun read and, despite how powerful Colossus is, he does run into some serious opposition so it's not just a one-sided fight of him smashing bad guys to death for fifty pages.
I think this is a very boy comic. Extended fight scenes? Yeah, not for me. But I liked the idea of it- playing on the themes of golem, and robots, and chivalry, and avenging honor. It brought to mind alot of parallels one could make between classic comic superheroes and knights of the medieval period, in a way I had not considered before. But I thought the end was a bit of a disappointment.
