It's hard to say how well the colors of the paintings are reproduced on the page - the massive Taschen volume shows them looking a little darker - but they look great to my eyes and that will do. The volume is large, but you can lie on your back and rest it on your stomach and read it fairly comfortably. The writeups for each painting are concise but seem to do well in summing up the various opinions on the paintings, as well as pointing out some meanings and details. It's true I would have wanted more, but that not's the goal of the volume, and what it wants to do it does very well. The green cloth bookmark is a very nice addition.
