Anna Mocikat is a successful Cyberpunk and Space Opera author. She was born in Warsaw, Poland, but spent most of her life in Germany where she attended film school, worked as a screenwriter and a game writer for several years. Her "MUC" novels have been nominated for the most prestigious awards for Fantasy and science fiction in Germany. In 2016 Anna moved to the USA where she continued her writing career. "Shadow City" was her debut in English in 2019. Since then she also published the "Behind Blue Eyes" series, the "Cyber Squad" series, the "Nephilim" series as well as "Space Punks" and "Neon Nights."
WOW! The 6th book in the series, and it seems like with every book, the series becomes more action- and suspense-packed. The book is 291 pages of pure, unfiltered action and excitement.
Nephilim is a force of nature, just like before, but now the stakes are much higher, and she is much more confident and convinced of the "cause."
Not only does she want to get back to Olympus as quickly as possible to continue with Metatron's huge plan, she also desperately wants to be with him. Yes, emotions run high in this book.
The big deal with TogbuaXiang has been struck. Now she just has to manage to save Metatron's life.
Damn, this book, this whole sci-fi story, is incredibly exciting, captivating, and thrilling. I don't know how many times in this series I thought one of the main characters was going to die. This book is no different. No, forget that. This book is much worse.
This book has it all: power-hungry board members, jealous cyborgs, a fight for power and freedom for all living beings, a unique love story, and a betrayal I didn't see coming.
I know I gave some very cryptic descriptions, but I can't spoil the story. You need to experience it for yourself.
The cliffhanger this time is sooo mean. I literally flipped through the pages to see where the rest was. Okay, my heart 🤯 I have to hold out until the next book, but OMG! That's so mean, Anna! 😠
Mocikat has outdone herself with the number of plates she manages to spin with this work. We see machinations and political assassinations being planned and executed in Olympias and Togbuaxiang concurrently. We see all of the characters we have come to care about morphing as they experience things like love, failure, fear, and purpose. There is so very, very much to be said about this book, but so little can be said without ruining at least some of the many delicious surprises. Read this book! Feel the agony of Metatron and Nephilim's separation as her duty to the Tigress keeps them apart. Experience the desperate anxiety of the traitorous Jake living the life of a double agent for a woman who has so far eluded his reach. Bear the petulance and jealousy crushing Zephaniel's psyche. Know the helplessness of Fenwick as Angels relentlessly continue to hunt him and he is forced to rely on gangsters to protect his family. This book is a veritable cornucopia of character development, spectacularly accomplished as multiple plots develop simultaneously.
The stakes are higher than ever and of course the story nears the end of what we started so long ago as everyone's perspective changes and we see deeper into everything. This one even more than the others showcases the biggest changes and just how human nature no matter the enhancements matters.
You can’t end that there! The bloke we hated at the end of book one, but now !?!! Obviously there will be a book seven, & knowing the authoress it may not be what we first think …
BUT !?!!
Death is coming, heh, heh, heh … (How do you write a sinister laugh?)
I have really enjoyed the series. The characters are well defined, the action is easy to follow, and the plot has an occasional surprise. Thank you for continuing to add to the series.
A bit of a gear change with this one with less pace less action more set up. Big ending then a shocking finish! Looks at watch, when's the next one out??? Got to know what comes next!!
