She’d been afraid to share her feelings with him, until one day, when an impulsive decision gave them the opportunity at a relationship that they’d been denying for years…
DELANEY BLAKE was in love with Cara from the moment he met her.
He knew she relied on him, but Cara didn’t realize he relied on her just as much. However, he had plans. A strict outline of what his future should be, and he was determined to make them happen. When Delaney was faced with having to choose between her and his future, he panicked, and Cara pushed him away believing it was better than facing potential rejection.
More than a year later, she has to risk facing that rejection, and even worse, anger for the SECRETS she kept from him when it all fell apart…
This was a sweet, okay book about a couple who got together in high school, she thought she was pregnant, he bolted saying he wasn't ready, she got her period so she called him told him it was false alarm but she didn't want him back anyway, turned out it wasn't a false alarm and she never tells him. Two years later she shows up with baby in tow, vowing to admit to boy she should have told him right away, but also very wary of any relationship between the two, she just wants the baby to know its dad.
Well, we all know what happens in the kind of books I read. Just minor variations there and there. No big excitement but no big transgressions either. Okay read.
Seriously I could not put this book down. hands down a fabulous read of girl and boy next door. Cara and Delaney had been best friends for three years but finally decided to take it a step further. Cara and Delaney started seeing each other pretty frequently before she headed out of state to college but not before they had a scare or was it? after a few years away Cara decided to head back home because she had a few things she had to settle with Delaney and she was not sure how he and his family would handle what she had been keeping from them. A great fast read. If you like sweet romance this book is for you!
I received this book to read and review for an honest opinion.
This is a story about second chances at love. From the moment Cara met Delaney in 10th grade they both fell in love with each other. The only problem was neither of them let the other know. They became best of friends. The night before Cara is to leave for college, she sneaks into Delaney's bedroom to talk because he can always calm her down. One thing leads to another and they have sex. A month later Delaney comes to visit Cara at college and she has to tell him she is pregnant. They get into an argument over the news and he leaves. Cara wakes up the next day to find she is cramping and bleeding. She sends Delaney a text telling him she got her period and not to call. Fast forward and it's two years later. Cara comes back home to break the news to Delaney.....he has a daughter named Sutton. I loved the way Delaney handled the news. I enjoyed the way the two of them finally put aside their fears and put all of their emotions out there. It was a sweet story with a great happy ending.
Cara and Delaney were best friends throughout high school. One fateful night they ended up exploring their relationship causing a serious chain of events. Cara finds out she is pregnant and is willing to face the music and become a mother. Del, however, doesn't take the news well and leaves after Cara tells him. She thinks she starts her period and sends Del a message as such. They don't speak for two years. Cara is now home house sitting for her parents while they are on vacation. She has determined to tell Del what has happened since the last time they saw each other. This is a beautiful story of young love and friendship. It demonstrates the power of honesty and finding your true half. Del is a realist and clear thinker. Cara is a strong woman trying to overcome her fears from the past that prevent her from moving forward. The story is sweet and heartwarming. I feel the author portrayed these characters very well and made them loveable and relatable.
Cara and Delaney's story is absolutely epic! I couldn't put the book down!
Two small town kids, ready to head out into the world, decide to take their friendship to the next level---as lovers. When they are faced with life changing events, one runs scared and the other is left to make do with what they have.
After two years of radio silence, Cara decides to return to Minnesota in hopes to see/talk to Delaney. She has a burning secret that she must share with him that will change his life forever. The question is, what will they do once Cara's secret is out??
Their story inspires hope. Hope that, through everything, love will prevail.
The author conveyed such beautiful scenery. I felt like I was right there-watching Cara, Delaney and their families. I could envision their faces and feel their love and passion for one another.
Beautifully written love story! Couldn't put it down...wanted to know if Cara and Delaney got their happily ever after! A must read if you are looking for all those emotions that you once had in high school for your best friend and never said anything and wished you had. Read it and love it!!!
This story was about two people who were best friends since they met in school. They became more. But after a scare separated for over two years. He had his dreams and she knew that. She didn't want to spoil his plans. But now she is back and he wants answers. How will he handle the secrets she kept?
That was the sweetest story I have read in a long time! And it had the right amount of angst and passion to make it a page-turner, too! I truly loved it!
This was a novella about a young woman named Cara, who's boyfriend walked out when Cara announced she was pregnant in college. Later on that same night she thinks it's a mistake and let's Delaney know that she isn't pregnant anymore, but she refuses to let him back into her life and into her heart. A few years on Cara knows she has to tell Delaney the truth and reveal her secret in the form of her and Delaney's child Sutton. Will they be able to build a family or will Cara still struggle to let Delaney back in? And will Delaney be able to forgive Cara for keeping Sutton a secret for so long?
I have to admit I'm normally not a fan of Novella's because I feel they can be too rushed, that there's not enough of a story or that the story was so good it should have been a full novel...but I have to admit I quite enjoyed this sweet but short book.
"Cara look at me. I need you to see. You can't hide from it anymore."
I easily fell in love with Delaney and Sutton. I thought Delaney was a dream man and just made a small mistake when he was young and tried to rectify it. He was adorable with Sutton and was so in love with Cara and was willing to do anything to prove it. And Sutton was just the cutest child, a right outgoing little toddler and just adorable.
"I don't think there's anything that can change the way I feel. I've pretty much been madly in love with you since the day we met."
I have to confess that I didn't immediately fall in love with Cara. I thought she was too harsh on Delaney considering she had kept Sutton a secret for so long and she got a little annoying when she refused to believe Delaney loved her despite having no real reason for this thinking. She did grow on me though and because I loved the plot and the ending, by the time we got towards the end I loved her as much as the others.
"He had been her yo-yo for years. One minute she would be holding him in the palm of her hand, and the next she would whip him away from her as hard as she could."
The plot was exactly what I want from a novella. There was an established story, that was enough to keep me entertained and was well paced. There were some good sex scenes, sweet moments and a little drama. Just the right amount of everything to not leave me frustrated that it was only a short book.
"As they had said, their strings weren't just attached, they were braided tight."
Overall a sweet, endearing and enjoyable read that would be perfect for a quick holiday read or to pass time lazying in the sun.
Beautiful second chance love story. I loved Delaney, he is the type of boyfriend every girl wants, gorgeous and very understanding, even when something very important is kept from him for two years. Cara is a strong female character that did the best she could in the situation she was in at the time. They reunite and have to work out some issues they are now faced with. This was a very quick read and it held my interest. The only thing keeping me from giving it 5 stars, is I would have liked to read more about their past. I couldn't put this book down, great job Kaprice Potter, looking forward to reading more from you.
So this novella is sweet, high school best friends who fall in love and Cara is going away to school. Delaney had a whole plan for his life. One year since they have seen each other and he finds out her secret. Sweet romance and well written.
