In the seaside town of Whisper Cove, a centuries’ old curse tests true love...
On her wedding day, Faith Cabrillo prepares to confess a desperate secret to her fiancé, Jake Mitchell—she’s cursed with both the ability of speaking to the dead . . . and never fulfilling the promise of true love. Before the truth is revealed, Jake’s life is endangered and Faith sacrifices herself to save him.
Grief-stricken, Jake refuses to accept Faith’s comatose state. His innovative research keeps Faith alive, yet he’s faced with his biggest challenge when Faith’s spirit appears with a warning that his life is still in danger. Because Jake’s a man of medicine, he denies his Faith truly exists on two planes. Until he talks to her. And holds her. And begins to hope that he’s wrong.
Will Jake’s devotion and Faith's body and soul be forged by love’s healing power in time to stop a killer before the curse again claims Faith . . . this time forever?
Absolutely loved this book!!! Loved how Faith and Jakes personalities complimented each other. If you like paranormal romance with a bit of action and mystery, I highly suggest this book. I sat down this afternoon and could't put it down. Can't wait for the next book in this series
Spirit Released is a perfect continuation of Spirit Awakened by Cyndi Faria. The author came up with a captivating yet imaginative plot that takes you on a mystery ride on the "whose done it" in the paranormal world. There are some well developed twists hidden within that the author expertly unravels in time. And just when you think you are home free, she comes up with yet another surprise.
Faith is an adorable character who does a lot of growing especially in this book, but in my eyes, the true hero is Jake. The never wavering, unconditional loving and fully supporting no matter what Jake. This is what the man of a woman's dream is made of and what a "real man" should be like!
I really enjoyed this book. It had a well developed mystery and really likable characters. The writing style was pleasant so this book is definitely worth picking up!
As far as a paranormal goes, it was good. I'm not really one for romantic stories but that part was ok too. I didn't read the first book so it was harder to understand this one. Maybe after I go back and read the first one I can reread this one and change my mind, but at this time I would say "Read the first was then go from there".
I truly enjoyed both of the first two books of this series!
I have owned this series for quite a while and recently found while I was reorganizing my kindle! I’m SO glad that I did! I really enjoyed reading about Jake and Faith and the trials that they went through to be together and can’t wait to dive into the next books in this series! Definitely recommend!
I was antsy, foot tapping, palm slapping my thigh while reading this. I even did a fist pump. Good thing I didn't yell in victory out loud. The story is captivating. I love it.

Spirit Released was not your normal run of the mill Paranormal Romance. I will admit I had a little trouble with the first chapter. I felt confused, as if I had been thrown into the middle of a story and had no idea why the things that were happening, were happening. I do give credit that all of my questions were answered throughout the book, but I can see how this might make a lot of people put it down, without giving it the chance it deserves.
The story is of Jake and Faith. Faith (which I found to be a very appropriate name for the story) has a 200 year old curse on her. A terrible accident happens in the beginning while she is trying to save Jake's (her Fiance) life. Faith is in a coma throughout most of the book, but her spirit is there. The one odd thing I found about her spirit is not just that it could touch/move things, because many spirits can, but the spirt of Faith could have sex. I enjoyed the scene as it showed the love and commitment of the 2 characters. It brought them closer together and I think it gave them more courage to try to find out just what was going on and why Faith could not come out of her Coma. Jake is a Dr at the hospital Faith is at receiving grant money from a corp. to help try experimental things and drugs to wake Faith up. The corp is 100% behind Jake as he has done such a wonderful job and created what some would call medical miracles. The kind that go into science journals. However, something starts holding his progress back and there are many people that the blame is pointed at.
I felt this had a good mystery to it as well as a beautiful love story. It makes you think that if you just believe that all things can be possible.True love is a powerful thing that sometimes not even the universe or a curse can come between. I think the characters of Jake and Faith are well developed as the story continues, and I felt that Cyndi developed enough of the sub characters to carry a series forward with other people's stories.
All in all I gave this book 4 fairies because of the confusion at the beginning and the feeling that it 'could' keep new fans from continuing. In the end this would be a sad decision because the book was really good after that, and people would really be missing out on a great new author to add to their TBR list. If you pick this book up and feel that way, please press on and give it a chance, as after that small bit, it is a beautiful story, with nicely developed characters and of course the happy ending we all dream of. (not to mention, Jake seems pretty hot :-))
With this being the first book in the series, you would expect it to be one that is maybe a little slow while establishing the characters and such. Well, you would be wrong to think that! It jumps right in and you quickly learn about the people and their history, jobs, etc. From what I can see, this is actually a prequel that explains how Jake & Faith meet. (The next book Spirit Released is already available, but is considered book 2). I found this to be such a sweet romantic read that it had me wanting to keep reading well past the end of the book! While I was reading, I thought that the characters kept jumping “out of character” and shifting between being friendly to trying to push for more, timid and meek to someone more aggressive – knowing what they want and doing what they can to get it while just before they were trying to convince themselves to even make eye contact. But just as I was thinking that this was odd even getting confusing, the characters addressed this oddity themselves!! That actually made it even better! I was pleasantly surprised by this book. Would like to have seen some more of the paranormal part which does show up if full force at the end of the book. But other than that I loved the concept of using your intuition over facts & science, I fell for both of the main characters and was left wanting to keep reading, which in my “book” means it was well worth the read! I can’t wait to read the rest of this series.
This is a good addition to the Whisper Cove series and wraps up the story line of Jake and Faith nicely. We finally end up with their HEA but let me tell you, the road was full of pitfalls, heartaches, suspense, and some trials and tribulations. It was a long road but they finally got there.
This is book 2 of the Whisper Cove Series and can not be read as a stand alone. This story begins where book 1 left off. There were a few bits to me that seemed to drag but all in all this was a good read.
Written as a multi pov. Since this does end in an HEA for Jake and Faith, if you wanted to stop after this book you could and you would feel as if you had a complete story. The next story in the series is about Thomas that played a major role in this book. I assume we will get to see more of Jake and Faith in the next book since this takes place in Whisper Cove as well.
Good story line, nice descriptions to details most of the time, a little wordy at times, nice dialogue between characters. Did I fall in love with these characters? No, but I did fall into like with them. I enjoyed them as characters. No heart twinge or teary eyed moments but that is okay. I still really enjoyed this book.
So....
Would I recommend this book? Yes, but you must read book 1 first.
Would I read more from this author? Yes, I want to see what happens with Thomas next.
This book is good. It takes a couple hours to read and has a decent plot line. Faith and Mitchell have to overcome a curse. In order to do that they have to save each other and them selves. The first chapter is slow and takes a minute to get through. It starts on their wedding day. Faith has lived with the curse all her life while Mitchell doesn't believe in it and stays firmly based in science. I felt their should have been a little more history of the couple and the curse its self. There are a couple of unexpected plot twists. The author keeps you engaged but it isn't one of the ones that I couldn't put down. There were some points where she referenced something that had happened in the past and I wished she would have gone a little bit more into it. The curse is mentioned a lot but I wished there was more detail on it rather that a paragraph that explains how it came to be. Overall, I would read this author again but she won't be on my wait for the new release list and have to read right away. She keeps you engaged and the writing is good and I would recommend it to a friend who I know enjoys this kind of story.
I found this books a marked improvement over the first in the series. I definitely liked the characters a lot more and the story stayed trued to the paranormal mystery/romance tone of the first book.
Honestly the first chapter floored me! If those first few pages don't hook you then just stop...you don't need to be reading a paranormal romance LOL The actual story line itself kept me turning the pages. I HAD to know how everything was connected, or was it even connected? So much happens but it is easy to follow and you find yourself playing detective as the story goes on.
Jake and Faith are so much better in this book. They really grow and become the people that they should be. And despite all of the challenges they face they aren't afraid to fight for the love that they deserve. FINALLY! Woohoo! ::chair dance:: I thoroughly enjoyed both Jake and Faith in this installment.
Book two of the Whisper cove series is the continuation of Faith and Jake's spiritual love story. The curse is still active , the wedding is set to happen and things don't go as planned. How do you get a man of science to believe in the supernatural? How do you get a women whose very existence lives and breaths spirits and legends to trust in herself and true love. While the first chapter takes a few minutes to navigate the rest of the storyline flows smoothly. The twists and turns will take you on a wild ride as more of the legend comes to light. Secrets, spirits, legends and a dark force intent on destroying the lovers make for page turning suspense. Just when you think your on the right track something else happens to make you questions your thinking. This is an awesome storyline sure to entertain and keep you on the edge of your seat.
This is my favorite paranormal book series. The first book had me hooked and I could not wait to read book #2 to see if Jake and Faith get married or the curse get them. Love how we had suspense mixed in with mystery and of course, Romance. I can not wait to read book #3.
☆☆☆☆☆ I give this book 5 out of 5 stars. Recommend this book? Yes! Author? Yes! Read more from this author? Yes!
