Sometimes, the ideal place to fall apart is also the perfect place to fall in love. After her relationship implodes on live TV, Eliza Miller escapes to her quiet lakeside cabin, desperate for a fresh start. But peace is hard to come by when Carter Rawlings—a brooding, gray-eyed billionaire with a chip on his shoulder—is forced to move in.
Carter didn’t choose Silver Lake Falls, and he definitely didn’t need a roommate. Forced by his mother to take a three-month sabbatical after a life-threatening scare, the high-powered tech CEO is stuck with Eliza—the infuriatingly warm, strawberry-blonde woman who’s throwing his carefully managed life off balance.
They agree on one sharing this cabin is temporary. But as days turn into weeks, less than stellar first impressions turn into undeniable tension. Carter can’t resist her laughter or the way she makes him forget the boardroom. Just as they begin to trust each other, Eliza’s past—and Carter’s relentless ambitions—threaten to tear them apart.
When old wounds resurface and secrets come to light, will they risk their hearts—or will their time in Silver Lake Falls remain just a fleeting summer memory?
A heartwarming small-town romance about healing, second chances, and the love they never saw coming.

Khris writes slow-burn contemporary romances that will make your heart melt and your Kindle overheat!
When she’s not dreaming up new love stories, she’s either binge-watching true crime documentaries (because balance, right?) or convincing herself she could totally nail a house flip after one too many episodes of home improvement shows.
Khris also loves to travel with her family, always hunting for hidden gems in every corner of the world.
I was really enjoying it until I realized he never truly grovelled and she was too forgiving. His words were awful, he hurt her sooo many times and she still stood there. As for his awful mother? What the hell? No we dont need tough love. Just because you want to empower someone you dont have to treat them like shit And we get it. He had issues but dude I read my books to escape reality. So i would have liked it if he was crawling back and she would have made it even more difficult for him.

If you're looking for a slow burn romance with just a touch of spice... this is the book for you. The story is beautifully written and captures you from the start. Both the FMC and MMC develop wonderfully along with their relationship.
Honestly, I had really high hopes when I started this book. I was hooked, intrigued. I loved the concept of the grumpy MMC overcoming his own problems with the scorned girl he’s rooming with.
That is until 50% through the book you still have no idea what problems he is trying to overcome. You get vague mentions of things like his diet and how everyone freaked out because he almost died.
Once you finally get the reveal, it’s in the most nonchalant way that honestly didn’t feel as tragic as it was made out to be. I think we could have seen more character growth and attachment had we just known from the start…
Eliza had potential and I loved her overcoming her insecurities and becoming independent and believe in herself more. I liked her character, until she immediately falls back into her old crowd willingly after the MMC leaves… sure she ends up standing up for herself but come on.
Which leads to the least eventful third act breakup ever. The most exciting part of it was trying to figure out why she was letting his family take her on wild goose chases, I’d have written them off with him if all I got was a note saying thanks after he said I was a nice time.
So we have the resolution, which was really cute. Loved that he’s helping the town and bought this house, but it’s just a complete 180 and we never actually saw the character development, just the end result.
With the grand reveal, I’m ready for the happily ever after and epilogue but JOKES ON ME. Let’s throw in a random ass kidnapping which does nothing for the plot, has no resolution, and just seemed like a way to extend the story for another 20 pages. I would have DNFd but I was so close. I should have DNFd, there was no epilogue. They move on like nothing happened with vague mention of the men still after her… you’re telling me the best security team he knows, hasn’t found them after months? Be so for real.
The only way I can see this even affecting any story line is if we get a Quinn book in the future since she has been scorned now. But even with my wanting to see her second chance with the sheriff, I cannot reasonably submit myself to another book.
I had such hope and every time my faith in the book came back, it got worse somehow.

If I didn’t have a 3 year old, I would’ve easily finished this in under 24 hours. I absolutely loved it. The SECOND I read the first page, I knew without a doubt this was about to get good.
Carter Rawlins has been making himself miserable trying to uphold the standards of his late father. The family business is what he was raised to run. After an unexpected health scare, his family sends him to a cabin in the woods to “relax” and get back to full health. It’s hard to relax when you get to your rented cabin and there’s a crying-mess of a girl currently living in it.
Eliza has been put through the wringer her entire life. After jumping from foster home to foster home, she’s developed the habit of thinking of herself as a burden. The morning after a complete stranger walks into her cabin, she offers to stay at her only other alternative. Deeming it unsafe, and despite his irritability towards the situation, he insists/demands that she stay with him. Just two polar opposites stuck in a cabin together for 3 months…what could possibly happen?🤭
This story was not only interesting, but had a lot of emotional depth to it. It shows the hardships of what it’s like to be held to an impossible standard. Especially if you’re the only one holding it. Eliza constantly weighing herself down because she feels as if she’s weighing everyone else around her down, is something I think we all go through at some point. Reading about how Carter and Eliza were the catalyst in eachother’s growth was inspiring.
A Place For Love is a contemporary romance set in Maine.
Eliza’s relationship shatters when she watches her boyfriend kissing one of her friends on the live TV kiss camera at a sports event. News of his betrayal spreads through the small town where Eliza lives and she takes refuge away from the gossip in her lake shore cabin – unoccupied, or so she thinks.
Carter’s mother forces him to take rest after a heart-attack. Unknowingly she’s booked him into Eliza’s cabin for several months of rest at the exact time that Eliza is using it to hide from the world. The pair meet late one night and after frightening each other they compromise on a solution to suit them both.
This is a lovely enemies to lovers style romance with several intriguing secondary characters. The will-they won’t-they romance ebbs and flows between Eliza and Carter, who come from two very different upbringings which is reflected in how they both deal with their sperate situations. I liked this story a lot, it sits well in the genre and was an entertaining piece of escapism reading.
Thank you so much to the author, Khris Andrew’s, for gifting me the ARC of this book!
This book felt like a hallmark movie in a book! This was a perfect slow burn between Eliza & Carter. They overcame so much & made it out to the other side together stronger as individuals & a couple! Highly recommend!
WOW. I loved this book! The banter is fun & hilarious. I got so sad over circumstances that I’d cry! The characters were totally relatable, with fears and doubts I’m sure others have felt in their lifetime. Eliza is such a resilient woman, always pushing forward regardless of those against her. Carter is so guarded & yet so possessive! I love when he realizes what he expected in the beginning, isn’t what he actually wants. Also, the twist at the end was unexpected for me! I CANT WAIT to read more of the series!

Rollercoaster of emotions! Carter a workaholic tech CEO had a brush of death and Eliza relationship imploded on live TV. They became unexpected roommates! Enjoyed reading this magnificent book! A Must Read!
I went into this book not really knowing what to expect. This was the first book that I was reading as an arc reader, and I can say with full certainty that I am so glad that I picked this book up.
The slowburn in this book had me itching to turn the page and to continue on with the story. I was hooked from the very beginning and I couldn’t wait to see how Carter and Eliza’s love story was going to bloom.
Eliza and Carter are both such beautifully flawed characters, and we get to see them both grow and developed so much throughout the book, making the other a better person as well.
The plot twist had me gasping out loud, and I physically couldn’t put the book down. I will say that I felt the ending of the book left some points open, and I can’t tell if that was done purposefully for the next inter-connected standalone, or not. Besides that the ending was beautiful and exactly what I was hoping for.

A small town enemies to lovers story but with so much depth and character development. Eliza Miller lives in Silver Lake Falls, after her relationship implodes on live TV, she retreats to her lakeside cabin in the forest, she wants to escape from the world and lick her wounds. Carter Rawlings, a CEO of a tech firm in New York arrives at the cabin, his mother has rented it for him for 3 months to recuperate after his brush with death. It’s the last thing he wants to do but his mother and his sister Jackie mean the world to him so he goes along with it. Little did he expect when arriving at the cabin was to run into Eliza, he can see she’s distressed and offers her the spare bedroom until she can find her feet. Neither are entirely happy about the situation, Carter is arrogant and downright rude to Eliza. She’s so sweet but also easily led that she takes it all from him and tries to kill him with kindness. It’s honestly one of the best “she falls first but he falls harder” tropes I’ve read. My fav quote from Eliza is - “Kids, a family. A want etched so deep in my soul, a never-healed wound that will keep bleeding until I meet the man I can see myself spending my life with. Or until I trust Carter when he says he wants to be that person for me." From Carter - “Weren't you the one who said broken treasures just need a bit of love? I'll give you all the love, l'll carry the baggage for you, no matter how heavy." I cried, giggled and almost threw my kindle in frustration at points because of Carter’s behaviour to Eliza but the second half of the book I was his biggest cheerleader. I’m looking forward to reading Jackie and Adam’s story in 2025. Thank you BookSirens and Khris Andrews for the opportunity to read this, all opinions expressed are my own.
✨️arc review✨️ I'm not entirely sure if there are spoilers, but I'm gonna check the box just in case :)
OH, THE SMALL TOWN HALLMARK ROMANCE!!!! I am genuinely not even kidding this book this book gave me so many foot kicking, pillow screaming, head smacking (thanks a lot Carter) "UGH JUST GET MARRIED ALREADY" (sorry to my wonderful wor bestie Patti) moments it's not even funny and that's just to name a few off the list.
Eliza (golden retriever sunshine FMC) is the embodiment of "everything happens for a reason" she continued forward through the fears and the set backs and realized that no matter what or who tells you otherwise dreams are worth dreaming and striving towards regaurdless of doubt.
Carter (grumpy black cat MMC) really just deserves to be told an infinite number of times that he is allowed to WANT. He didn't realize that at first, but when he found that he FOUGHT for it and he fought hard. WHICH I ABSOLUTLY LOVED!!!
I really enjoyed the very real scenarios Khris Andrews put in their book. I truly admire authors when they shine light of any kind on mens mental health, especially since *in my opinion* it is not discussed enough. Mixing that and Eliza' trials and tribulations it really makes the storyline that more consuming to readers. The author uses the slow burn aspect of the book to really build that tension, which makes the SPICE so much better. However, it doesn't take away from the plot of the book and the development for the characters. It's just all around a really strong book to start off this series, which I am so incredibly excited for!!
From the ineffective objects used for protection to the "OH MY GOSH I REAKING SHIP IT!!!" mixing in slow burn tension that just oh my gosh FREAKING SWOON!!
In my opinion, RUN and get this book when it gets released on November 12th because it does not disappoint.

I read this book for the grovel and was disappointed. I’m getting really tired of FMCs that let the MMCs treat them like garbage, barely apologize and then take them back. The MMC was super unlikeable. They never even talk about him being photographed with the ex.
“I’m not a religious man, but this woman makes me repent for everything I might have done wrong”--get ready for the lake scene 🔥
A forced proximity page-turner spicy slow burn dual point of view romance book shows the story of Carter and Eliza, who have experienced difficult things in life, find each other to work to heal their emotional and physical scars together. -Forced proximity -Spicy -Billionaire romance -3rd act breakup with lots of -Plot twist with extra drama TW: Mentions of child abuse, physical and emotional abuse, eating disorders, kidnapping
A Place for Love set in gorgeous Maine follows the journey of Eliza and Carter. Eliza is a kind and sunshine filled local, who is trying to make a better stable life for herself. She grew up in the foster care system and is used to doing it alone. Her previous abuse makes it difficult for her to trust. Carter is a grumpy billionaire posh businessman, who is exiled to Maine for a mysterious illness by his mother and sister. He is forced to find a way of life without work being the center. Carter has also suffered by the hands of his deceased father. The two find each other and work through their long held beliefs.
I enjoyed reading this book being transported to Maine while getting to know Eliza and Carter. At times, I got whiplash from Carter’s hot/cold behavior. I wanted to tell him to get it together. When I learned more about the characters and their journey, more of their behaviors and tendencies became more clear. I enjoyed seeing Eliza gain more confidence and seek out a new career. Carter also gained a better perspective and realized what is important in life. I liked that the characters ended up trusting each other. I also liked the message of things happen to you and you can live in it or live through it and become stronger. Eliza was a great character who showed that what you endure is a strength not a weakness. She taught Carter the power of that. The power of therapy rep was appreciated. Eliza isn't scared of Carter's grumpy exterior and Carter isn't afraid to push Eliza. Carter teaches Eliza not to expect anything, but the utmost respect from herself and others, even if it's from him. They shared their most difficult and deep secrets with each other. I would have liked to see more into the characters' thoughts and emotions in a linear timeline rather than days later. I had a difficult time with the rushed plot twist at the end and still haven’t recovered. My warm feelings towards the end turned somewhat sour. The strength that they find together and apart will stay with me. Progress is slow and a process that you endure everyday. How you process and frame those experiences are up to you. I would recommend this book for someone who enjoys romance books. They truly find a place for love for their love for each other and the power of self love.
At the beginning of the book, Eliza is watching a hockey game at the local bar and sees her boyfriend of five years making out with her best friend on the Jumbotron kiss cam. Cue gossipy locals to help the situation… To make matters worse, her boyfriend took her truck to go on his “work” trip leaving her stranded. Luckily, her grumpy family friend Sam is there to help. Eliza goes back to her apartment, grabs the essentials and heads to her free rental cabin. She spends the next few days in a state of depression. The next thing she knows is someone is walking into the cabin. Equipped with her pillow she heads out to check out who the burglar is. It ends up being Carter, who was scheduled to stay at the cabin per his mother’s reservation. After confirming neither will kill each other in their sleep, they decide to sleep and resolve the issue in the morning. Following that “meet-cute”, the two decide to share the cabin for the summer until Eliza can finish the old fishing hunt to live in. As payment, Carter asks Eliza to cook for him and be his tour guide around town. Halfway through the book, they decide their chemistry is too difficult to ignore and they begin a roommates with benefits situation until he leaves.
Over the course of the book, Eliza gains more confidence and learns to not accept the poor treatment she has received in the past. She learns more about herself. Carter learns that a job isn’t everything and there are more important things to life. He has difficulty letting go and truly trusting due to his past. You start to see the tough exterior of Carter crack when he takes care of Eliza when she is sick, cooks her dinner, sticks up for her and buys her a "discount" art set. Eliza shows Carter the beauty of life, the small things and living life in the beautiful landscape of Maine. As he marks the days off until he returns to New York, they both do their best to remind each other and themselves that this is only temporary. There is a 3rd act breakup. Carter grovels to make up for his mistreatment and hurt he caused Eliza with many acts of love.
A Place for Love, Book 1 of the Silver Lake Falls series, was about 26-ish-year-old Eliza Miller and 32-year-old Carter Rawlings, the CEO of Rawlings Enterprise. (I'm guest-imating the age of Eliza because her age wasn't clearly stated. At one point, the FMC mentioned she had been in the foster care system until she "aged out. She also said that she had met her (now ex) boyfriend while she was living with the last family who took her in. This boyfriend had talked her out of attending college and encouraged her to get a job instead. Eliza then said that it had been ten years earlier, which put her age somewhere around 26-28, depending on how long the two had been dating before she turned 18, because her relationship had lasted 8 years.)
When her 8-year-long relationship with her boyfriend imploded on the television screen for the world to see, Eliza moved from their shared home to a cabin she owned in the woods. Unbeknownst to her, a few days after she had made her retreat, Carter showed up in the middle of the night to continue his recuperation.
As stated in the blurb, Carter had been "forced by his mother to take a three-month sabbatical after a life-threatening scare", so she rented the cabin in his name for an extra three months of time off for him to complete his recovery. He was anything but cordial, and the morning after his arrival, Eliza overheard a phone conversation he was having with someone where he had nothing nice to say about her. While she tried to move out of her cabin to her friends' cabin five minutes away, Carter refused to let her being as the other building was uninhabitable. With nowhere else to go, she and Carter formed an unlikely, and temporary, alliance.
This story was all over the place. While it had plenty of drama, the angst wasn't as high as the storyline needed. However, the push-pull between the two main characters was over the top, though. The flow of the story was choppy and a bit of a mess.
The MMC was a bit one-dimensional and had very little personality. He was cold for almost the entire book, except for perhaps the last five chapters. The major plot twist was unexpected and seemed to be out of place and at odds with the storyline.
I'm not going to go into any more detail because the whole thing left me dazed and confused. The way the story ended felt like a cliffhanger, and the possibility of having a second book was raised because there were so many unresolved issues that needed to be dealt with. However, the author said at the end of the book that the second one in the series would be about a different couple.
I only gave this a two-star rating because it had so much that didn't work. I couldn't bring myself to give it anything higher.
Title: A Place for Love (Silver Lake Falls Book 1) Author: Khris Andrews Hero/Heroine: Carter & Eliza What to Expect: Town, Billionaire MMC, Feisty FMC, Opposites Attract, Forced Proximity, Grumpy x Sunshine, She Falls First He Falls Harder, Epic Grovelling,

How is this a debut?? When I tell you that this book had me in a chokehold, I ain’t lying. At 2.30 this morning, I finally decided to turn my kindle off, albeit reluctantly, so I could get some sleep. I know a book is amazing when I sacrifice sleep to read it.
Eliza. Girl, you had no right being such a wonderful, likeable character. When I tell you this woman went through it, I mean she really went through it. Finding out your boyfriend of eight years was cheating on you on national television was bad enough, however realising that those people you thought were your friends were actually massive arseholes? She took hit after hit and came out even stronger, I loved her strength and perseverance, one of my favourite FMC’s I’ve read this year.
Carter. It took quite a large part of the book for me to warm up to him, and I wanted to wring his neck so many times for how he treated Eliza. Yet, the author managed to redeem him immensely, and I loved seeing him slowly open up to Eliza and acknowledge his feelings for her. After reading more of his backstory, I could understand why he was so closed off. And that grovel? Top marks from me. The added bit of suspense toward the end had me completely hooked, and I cannot wait to read more from this author.
Thank you to the author for providing me with a copy of this to read. This is my honest review.
✨overall thoughts: how was this a debut? this story was incredible ✨ 3rd act break up: yes ✨ heat level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️ ✨ star rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The whole novel felt off: every single scene tries to fit the mold of the ideal event with the same actions that are supposed to demonstrate that the characters are having a good time. It felt forced and unreal.
Second, some scenes where movement is important to understand what is going on lack description (ie: supermarket scene??? No idea if at first they were facing each other or when did the guy turn around o WHEN THEY EVEN ENTERED THE SUPERMARKET).
Third, I have no idea if it was just me or idk but the narrations of both characters felt like it was the same person but with slight modifications to make one joyful and traumatized by abandonment and the other brooding and regretful.
Fourth, the whole novel is to long… WDYM 600 pages for a small town romance where lots of things happen BUT NOTHING HAPPENS. I think the romance and the self-improvement was the whole point… but honestly there is not much of any. Their interactions are just her being nice and him being rude (did not even have an enjoyable banter), and then he is nice but has this strange double personality moments when he just pushes her away (JUST KNOW THAT HE IS RUDE AF TOWARDS HER SOMETIMES BUT IT IS OKAY BECAUSE HE REGRETS IT IN HIS INNER MONOLOGUE WHILE TREATING HER HORRIBLE AND ALSO HE THEN FIXES IT BY BEING ROMANTIC (???)). ALSO, their normal conversations are not even interesting bc they just trauma-dump every time they speak.
DNF (60%) it just felt like it wasn’t going anywhere and I wasn’t enjoying it anymore.
After Eliza’s relationship ends in a very public way and Carter is pushed to take a recovery break by his family, the pair unexpectedly end up sharing a cabin. They are both from very different worlds so this doesn’t start off well, especially seeing as Carter is so guarded with big trust issues, and Eliza is realising she has been too trusting and now needs to make some very big life changes. Eliza tries to make Carter feel at home but he is pretty cold and is counting down the days to get back to work, giving Eliza the push to fix the issues in her life, including where she’s going to live! Once Carter realises his efforts to work fall flat he starts to spend more time with Eliza and their relationship gradually begins to change for the better.
This was a slow burn, with some twists along the way and the topics covered throughout made the characters very relatable. I loved the friendship that Eliza built with Quinn showing that real friends can be found in some unexpected places. It took a while but I really enjoyed seeing Eliza and Carters characters learn from each other in order to grow into better people and finally get their HEA keeping me gripped until the end.
The plot twist towards the end of the book was very unexpected and I’m hoping that this is explored more in future books.
idk how the author can write such a good first half and then completely bomb the second half. i'm so disappointed at the dumpster fire this book became, considering i was thinking it was going to be a favourite of mine.
we have a rich H who is taken a forced vacation after a health scare at a secluded cabin chosen by his mother and we have h who's been dealt a shit hand at life in general and is currently hiding out at the same cabin that she owns after witnessing her bf cheat on her with her friend.
H comes across as entitled douche at first but quickly redeems until they sleep together for the first time and he goes back to being a gigantic douche again. he kept shoving his insecurities at her, lashing out at pretty much everything and treated her like dirt on his shoe only to breakup once he got his fill of her and run.
he literally runs back to the city, stays there very happily until his family shoves him again in h's direction. dude had the audacity to blame his ex as an excuse for his shitty behaviour. there's barely any grovel and they thought, wait what to make this more interesting? lets include a kidnapping plot where H saves h, as the knight in shining armour saving the damsel in distress and all is forgiven for his past behaviour 💀
all i wanted is to give the poor h a hug and tell her she deserves better than this assface 👹

This is a story of a man who got hurt by his father so it’s hard to trust and a girl who is so very desperate for love that when this man breaks her heart several times with his choice of words because of his insecurities she declares her love for him and obviously he doesn’t declare them back at first he ends up leaving going on a date with another woman still thinking of her, he then decides I love her and want her in my life, he says I’m sorry I said hurtful things because of my insecurities and a light touch it all it takes for her lady bits to burst into flames it felt like yes baby stomp on my face and spit on me I don’t care as long as I get to feel your touch, at this point she kind of hints she won’t settle for less than to be loved but her actions speak louder he doesn’t grovel like at all. But sets out to win her with his charms and touches. It’s the way I viewed them getting together at the end, it felt unsatisfying because it felt like because of her desire to be enough for someone and desire to be loved, she gave in so fast even if she pretended like she didn’t.
Eliza is publicly humiliated after seeing her boyfriend of 8 years cheating on her on national television, what makes it worse is that it’s been going on for 2 years. She retreats to her cabin to be alone and process what she’s going through. In comes Carter. He’s broody, cold, standoffish, and meticulous. After surviving a medical scare, his mother has sent him away for 3 months to recover and take a step back from the family business. What starts as a nuisance for them both staying under the same roof, turns into something neither one of them expected.
Full of hard topics and twists, this book will keep you entranced. It goes through the process of grief after realizing that life is short and at the same time that life still goes on with or without you. Some of it was hard to read only because it felt real. Grief isn’t linear, it’s cyclical. These characters grew up so much in these pages and realized that what they thought they wanted wasn’t what they needed after all.

A Place for Love by Khris Andrews is a slow burn romcom with a lot of emotional depth. The beginning was very entertaining and literally made my heart ache for Eliza. The middle started to drag a bit—especially with miscommunications, putting feet in mouth, and overreactions. By chapter 45 it appeared they would be getting their HEA—but there were still 6 chapters left in the book! So what did the author do? She took a hard left turn straight into thriller. I do enjoy a good thriller so I’m not even mad about it, but it felt a bit jarring. I definitely would have liked to see more tension and breadcrumbs to give it more of a thriller vibe throughout the book. It was still a really fun read. This would be the perfect book to bring on vacation (bonus if it’s at a lake)!
Spice wise—I’d give it a 2. There’s some open door scenes but it doesn’t overtake the book, which is still primarily emotion & plot driven.

I was so happy to be chosen for an arc of this book as I’d never read a book by this author before and I always love to discover new authors. This book was free and below is my honest review.
This book made my heart so happy! It has all the feels… happiness, frustration, sadness, hopefulness, to name a few. It was pure good vibes throughout and you really appreciate the vulnerability of both main characters. I was always expecting the unexpected with Carter, he’s not your average millionaire. There’s just something about him from the start even though he’s so moody and arrogant and made me want to shout out loud sometimes! The way he just appreciates and LOVES Eliza for her is soo swoon-worthy. It was hard to learn of Eliza’s history and her issues with attachment which has brought her to where she is but I really enjoyed her character growth. I loved what the cabin she had redone represented for her, I felt as though it was a little like her life but also what she wanted her life to be. I was sad to finish this book as I just loved the vibes and how it made me feel.

I was captivated by the deeply vulnerable journey of Eliza and Carter as they navigated a slow-burn romance and found their happiest. Their growing connection felt authentic and magnetic, each page unveiling pieces of their guarded hearts. The chemistry between them builds beautifully, and when they finally give in to their attraction, it’s both steamy and satisfying, a medium spice that perfectly fits the story’s emotional depth. However, there were times I personally wanted to punch the MMC for his unnecessary rudeness towards Eliza. I was quickly reminded of his own brokenness but my goodness.
I also loved the subtle hint of Eliza’s friend Quinn having her own story unfolding beneath the surface—I am so ready for more! Andrews masterfully balances passion and vulnerability, creating a love story that feels genuine and unforgettable. I highly recommend it for romance fans craving both heart and heat.
love this sooo much. too bad i was so busy the week i started this book because i wish i gave it all of my attention.
this MMC is so cute and grumpy yummy. he’s funny. and he’s struggling. and he has his secrets and gets you so curious through the story, you just want to know what happened to him.
the FMC is also the cutest. her insecurities are so relatable. yes, sometimes i wanted her to wake the hell up and stand up for herself. but she didn’t disappointed me.
their chemistry is very on point. their banter is fun to read. it’s like i’m watching their daily life and getting entertained by every little interaction.
the writing is also very strong and keeps you engaged.
AND THE SLOW BURN WAS SLOWING AND BURNINNNNNG!
and the groveling omg!
i wasn’t expecting what happened at the end but i’m not complaining either, i thought it was too much to happen right before it ends but i kinda enjoyed the angst of it all. i’m glad eliza had closure.
This is my first time every reading Khris Andrews and I enjoyed it.
I rate this book 4 stars and 2.5 spice level
What I loved:
This book was on the longer side but I love books where we also get to know the side characters more.
Eliza- Despite her past and upbringing she is resilient. I'm so happy that Eliza was given some closure to her past.
Love the relationship between Eliza and her best friend Quinn. I absolutely loved Quinn.
The banter/tension and the will they won't they between Carter and Eliza. So badly I wanted these two to finally get together. For Carter to allow himself to put aside the pressure of his company and be happy. It was satisfying to watch as them finally panned out.
What I am looking forward to:
Quinn's story for sure. I could already feel the tension between/chemistry between her and Walker!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This was such a sweet, easy read, the kind of story that just makes you feel good. It’s one of those books that gives off a cozy reading vibe, full of small town charm, quirky side characters, a sprinkle of spice, and enough emotional depth to keep you turning the pages.
The only part that didn’t quite land for me was the ending. It felt a bit rushed, almost like an afterthought, and the extra drama near the end didn’t feel entirely necessary. The story stood strong on its own without it.
One thing that kept nagging at me, though, was the background between Quinn and Sheriff Walker. I’ve been wracking my brain trying to remember where I might have read their story before or at least something very similar, and I can’t seem to find it anywhere. Maybe I’m just mixing up storylines, but there was definitely this strange sense of déjà vu about the sheriff and the baker slash coffee shop owner.
Regardless, it’s an absolute comfort read, sweet, a little spicy, and full of heart.
I absolutely love this book. I wanted more. Grumpy Carter starts off so cold although he is curious about Eliza. I love how his attitude and heart goes 360, after realizing how much he loves Eliza. Carter, “I’d be an idiot to let her slip through my fingers and lose the woman who taught me love doesn’t have to hurt.”
There’s a twist closer to the end of the book too. Like “why, just why?” I guess for those who are wondering, you’ll just need to read this book. I’m so happy Eliza got a little bit of the closure she needed.
I’m in awww of this book and makes my heart melt. I cannot wait until the second book comes out. I’ll need a third book in Quinn and Sheriff Walker as well. I need closure for all the characters in the book!
Cannot wait to add this book to my shelf of favorite reads!
