Roses are Red, Violets are Blue, I slept with your daughter but I had no clue.
I swear, it was an innocent mistake! Well, okay, maybe it wasn’t so innocent…nor was it really a mistake, but I can explain!
You see, I didn’t plan on responding to the wrong-number text I received, but as a professional athlete, when someone calls me “Daddy” and I know that I’ve never fathered any children, I’m inclined to say something.
My response leads to a purely textual relationship with a total stranger. Her name is Corri. She’s friendly, kind, and has a great sense of humor. We can tell each other anything. In fact, when I reveal my biggest personal secret she doesn’t laugh at me or tell me to lose her number.
Even when I accidentally ask her for intimacy lessons one night – stupid thumbs - she still doesn’t turn me away. She says yes!
Her body is fire and her kiss is electric. Our time together is my new favorite thing.
But imagine my shock when I see her in public, alongside our coach, who introduces her as his daughter, Corrigan Hicks.
Yep. That’s right. I slept with the coach’s daughter and I didn’t even know it. Make it make sense. And tell me what the heck I’m supposed to do now!
International Best Selling author, Susan Renee, wants to live in a world where paint doesn't smell, book boyfriends are real, and everything is covered in glitter. An indie romance author, Susan has written about everything from tacos to tow-trucks, loves writing romantic comedies but also enjoys creating an emotional angsty story from time to time. She lives in Ohio with her husband, kids, two dogs and a cat. Susan holds a Bachelor and Masters Degree in Music Education and a self-awarded Doctorate in Sass and Sarcasm. She enjoys laughing at memes, speaking in GIFs and spending an entire day jumping down the TikTok rabbit hole. When she's not writing or playing the role of Mom, her favorite activity is doing the Care Bear stare with her closest friends.
She sends a sms wrong, and from that, they start talking. They keep personal information secret, so she doesn’t know he’s a hockey player, and he doesn’t know she’s his coach’s daughter. He asks her for help to please a woman since he’s a boy and doesn’t have any girl friends he trusts. They meet, and she recognizes him, but to save him from being humiliated, she doesn’t say anything because she wants to help him.
Some drama when her father finds out, but it’s all solved very well.
Safety: - He’s a virgin, never done anything with a girl (one kiss one time when he was in high school) - She’s experienced, her ex bf cheated. - She gets invited on a date by a colleague. She turns him down when she discovers her feelings for H. Some jealousy from H when she tells him this. - No owd
—————— Don’t know if I will read the next book since he’s a major playboy and has met the h of that book many times without that stooping him from being with ow

The story was sweet, how Corri and Bodhi are essentially pen pals who exchange texts back and forth after a wrong number was entered. They connect over their love for food and then when it comes time to meet, Corri realizes it’s non other than Bodhi… the new star player for her dads hockey team. Only Bodhi isn’t saying he’s Bodhi. He tells her his middle name because he’s got a secret that he doesn’t want the world knowing. He’s a 24 year old virgin, but who has the rep of a ladies man. Corri keeps it to herself that she knows who this man is, and since she just came back from overseas he doesn’t realize it’s his coaches daughter. The two spark up an interesting arrangement where Corri teaches him all the spicy things in the bedroom. And of course, they start to fall for each other. And of course, the coach/dad finds out when he spots them in a peculiar situation. Once Corri’s dad finds out they actually love each other, he embraces their relationship and it all works out in the end.
At times it was a bit repetitive, and the banter between the guys on the hockey team was a little distasteful. All in all it was a good read. It flowed, it was cute, there was a love connection, and the inner dialogue was funny.

This was actually so cute! I loved reading every second of it. Hockey romances currently have me in a chokehold. It has forbidden love, secret relationship trope and it was just so good!
I love Susan Renee's hockey series books! Her newest Anaheim Stars offering is a quick, easy, FUN, romantic comedy. Bodhie and Corri's story has a cute premise and her use of witty dialogue and dual POV makes for an enjoyable read.
Jesus what did I just read?!? Thankfully it was a short book but could this have been any cheesier?! The insta love was not for me…nor was the locker room banter with the boys. That was gross and distasteful. Just an overall cringe-fest to be honest.
Super cute, fun hockey romance. Corri is the coach's daughter and Bhodi is the hot shot rookie who happens to be a virgin - even though his reputation says otherwise.
A text to a wrong number leads to some heated lessons. What will happen. When Bhodi finds out his "instructor" is his coach's daughter???? You'll have to read to find out!
It was a quick, funny read. I liked it and found myself laughing during alot of scenes. That being said, i really do not understand her father’s reaction to them dating. We went from a loving father who was afraid to lose her too and had lunch dates with her every week, to a father who calls his daughter a wh*##* in the middle of a charity event. That was truly a 180 degree change and i found it unconvincing. It was so out of the blue my eyes bulged. Could have been better truly.

Sigh. Susan Renee makes you believe... not only in love. But in some seriously spicy love. It's awesome!
Bodhi and Corri have to be one of my favorite stories. I love their chemistry and how it's not based solely on the chemistry and that they were friends with a love of food first. (Ok call me sentimental since this is what drew me and my hubs together). She captured every moment so perfectly.
And the spice - guuuurlll...let me tell you about the spice. It is so spot on perfect! It's well written, offers a variety of things going on, and it's not the same old same old.
This book is fresh, fun, funny, smart, and just overall perfection.
If there is one thing for sure, it is that I love Susan Renee's hockey romances. I crave them and always wait very impatiently for the next one to release. This new Anaheim stars novel did NOT dissapoint! Bodhie and Corri's stort was one cute as hell tale that very well may be my favorite so far.
A very fun, spicy romance with all the right tropes. A secret/forbidden romance with your coach's daughter?! What could possibly go wrong? And even better, it all started by one wrongly sent text and a love for food.
What in the actual heck am I reading?! How does this book have 4.15 stars?! I’m trying to decide between 2 and 3 and would really like to know what other books those that have rated this 5 stars have rated the same.. 🤔
This is the most cringe I’ve ever read and I’m only 17% through..I’ve gotten to the part where the MMC tells his anonymous text friend (the FMC) that he thinks he wants sex lessons and how we even got here is just…
The amount of absurd things that have happened in 47 pages are just ridiculous.
First, the FMC texts a stranger by accident. Honestly the hockey and texting tropes were the main reasons I picked this up but it’s not even a good, or plausible, way to accidentally text somebody. This 26 year old nurse isn’t “organized” enough to save peoples numbers in her phone 🙄 I don’t even have my mother’s phone number memorized!
Second, she dialed her dad’s number to text him and is off by one digit, but unless you delete every text you send and receive wouldn’t you see there are no previous messages?! And therefore know it’s the wrong number..why couldn’t the author have just made up a better excuses…new phone..new number..literally anything else
Also, the MMC makes a point to say his number is from when he lived in another city and how ironic that they both live in the same city in California when the number is from a different state… like whyyy??? Soooo far fetched
Then the FMC has just told her BFF she’s going to go poop before she picks her up to go shopping since she had a hotdog that didn’t sit well.. and then..
During her shit break with her phone she gets a text from mystery man and she mentions she had a hotdog from the best place in town which he’s familiar with. But he’s surprised she enjoyed it because he says they make you poop. Yup, just came right out with it.
And to follow up that entirely unsexy text exchange, this 24 year old professional NHL hockey player hottie virgin has announced to her he thinks he needs sex lessons.
I’m not even knocking that he’s a virgin except to say that he really doesn’t have any good reason other than his dad sacrificed a lot for him to “be a star” and he doesn’t have time for a relationship or kids. And that’s fine, so then why are you asking a stranger for sex lessons? At the same time his story changes and he says he sees his teammates settling down and having it all and doesn’t want to not be able to please the woman he falls for so he needs sex lessons in case he meets his soulmate. This is all just so immature.
Also, the FMC seems super shallow since she invited this guy who she thinks is funny and nice out to meet her friend and her where they go for dinner, in a public place that they can ditch in case he’s “hideously ugly”.
The tipping point to DNF was when he couldn’t find her clit and “here clitty clitty” was used more than once…the word clit 11 times in a single page was absurd. There are only so many places it could be!!?!?! I’m not sure if the author was going for funny or endearing but it was neither..so cringe.
I mean…. There are so many thoughts…none of them great about a book I’m DNFing at 34% now
This is a trope I generally like, but this book wasn't a hit for me.
- The writing in this was not the best. It wasn't grammatically bad or anything (well, it was, but a few hundred commas would've fixed most of that), but it felt kind of like a reader performatively writing what they thought a romcom would be. It tried to be funny and modern without being witty or crisp. It was also offensive at times.
Like: "And if you pay me even a dime that would make me a whore. And I’m not a whore sooo I don’t want your money."
Or: "He’s a virgin, which means he hasn’t been tainted by skanky-ass women."
Or (from her father, who I thought was supposed to be a good guy before this scene): “You are my daughter! You are supposed to be class and sophistication. If you think you’re going to find yourself an easy hook up by flaunting yourself around my guys, you can think again. You’re better than that, Corrigan. It’s bad enough I had to find you like this, hiding in a corner with your legs open, but to find you whoring yourself out to this—”
Or (also from her father, about the FMC): “Well, damn Roche. I certainly hope she was gentle with you, because if she’s anything like her mother was…” 🤮
- I don't know that Bodhi likes Corri all that much? He seems to just decide he wants *someone*, and she's there, so...
- The MMC chooses to go by his middle name, Alan, which is not hot
- She is portrayed as being a person he can trust, she hides who she is and that she knows who he is to play into her being a person he can trust, and yet she spills his business/the circumstances of them coming together (which is objectively kind of embarrassing, like being a virgin is fine but asking a stranger you've never met to teach you sex is kind of weird) every chance she gets, like immediately to her friend and right as she is meeting the other WAGs
- I found the way the characters lie about their identities to be kind of oddly handled, both during the deceptive period and afterwards, where there's functionally no fallout or discussion
- He comes in his pants while fingering her, but we only know it when he says out loud afterwards -- but that chapter is from his perspective, so I felt deprived
- The sex was awkwardly written in general

Tropes: 🏒Hockey Romance 🏒He’s the new player, she’s the coaches daughter 🏒Secret relationship 🏒Forbidden relationship 🏒He’s a virgin
The book is about Bodhi, the newest member of the Anaheim Stars. We find out that despite the slew of tabloid stories about him, he’s still a virgin. He ends up having an adorable meet cute with a girl over a mistaken text exchange and somehow ends up arranging for her to give him ehm “lessons”. When they finally meet, SHE is shocked to find out that her mystery man “Alan” is none other than Bodhi Alan Roche….her dad’s newest player on the hockey team he coaches!
This book is SO much fun! It’s built on a text message exchange and they text continually throughout the book. The texts are so funny but even better is the inner dialogue that we get to read on page! I was in absolute hysterics! Susan writes the BEST “raunch-coms” — spicy romance that has you laughing out loud. This book also has a really great story as well with some incredibly heartwarming parts as well.
Highly recommend this one, you won’t be able to put it down and I hope you love it as much as I did! Susan scored the hat trick with this one!!
Bodhi is absolutely adorable! Corrigan is strong willed but also tender hearted! I loved them together! This book was full of “awww” and almost happy tears moments!
I love how their connection started with an accidental text and their book ended on a high note!
With her being the coaches daughter they have to hide their relationship at first until they feel ready to sit down together and tell him. Logical right? Until he finds out in a not so nice way and handles it poorly.
However that piece of their puzzle ends really well too lol
I love the brotherhood that he stepped into ok this team. On the Boston team they set him to be a star player instead of a team player so the Stars boys and coach had to break him of that habit but he ended up fitting right in ❤️❤️
Next book comes out in two months! The blurb says it’s about Corr’s BFF! I love her so much! She’s feisty and fun while also knowing how to be serious and straight laced.🥰
I swear, every book I've read by this author is nothing short of AMAZING! They are spicy, romantic, and laugh out loud funny, this book is no different. Corrigan texts her dad about leftover spaghetti, only it's not her dad, it's a hot pro hockey player. When he responds and they continue talking about food she has no idea what he does for a living, they become "friends" via text and without knowing who each other is. When they start sharing personal things, Corrigan finds out her texting friend is a virgin. They decide to meet in person to begin a teaching friends with benefits situation, when they meet for the first time Corrigan realizes that her date Bohdi is a hockey player for the Anaheim Stars, which her dad is the coach for. She decides she's not going to tell him who she is or that she recognizes him, but continue with their arrangement. How long will it last before one or both of them falls for each other or before her dad finds out? How will it end?
Susan writes romance like no other! We have 2 main characters that you can't help but love from the very beginning. This book gave me everything I was hoping for and more.
We always start out with a laugh ,"Roses are red, Pickles are green, I like your legs and what's in-between." Bohdi is a pro hockey player and a virgin. Corrigan is a nurse and she's the daughter of his coach. We start off with a text to the wrong number about dinner, Bohdi responds to the stranger. The conversations between them go so well until Bohdi mentions he needs a little help, Corrigan agrees. When they meet for the first time Corrigan recognizes him but she keeps it to herself. How long can this go before her dad finds out or they fall in love?
Their relationship evolved in the story at the perfect pace and kept me locked in the entire time. I love these 2 characters together. Susan will always be an immediate read for me.

OMG, I am in love! Bodhi (pickle pants) is like a squishy, loveable marshmallow that every girl wants in her life. Corrigan is just the missing piece that Bodhi was looking for and the person she deserved. This book is worth much more than 5 stars, and I absolutely loved it from start to finish. I was laughing from the start. This virgin trope from a male perspective was written in a fantastic way by Susan, complete perfection. It was a compliment to both the characters, and the way she brought them to life was great. I felt like I was part of the story
Bodhi came with a playboy lifestyle that he knew nothing about, and the reality was he was the complete opposite. He was doing his late father a service from his career point but was indeed wanting a relationship and love after realising what he was missing.
Corrigan had left her cheating ex back in London to come back home to be back close to her dad and best friend. To continue her love, working at the hospital with children, which she is passionate about.
Their connection to the base of this story is that both have lost a parent through cancer.
This story will have you laughing from the start and is one of the best books I have ever read.

This book was adorable. Bohdi is a rookie hockey player that is known as being a player. But plot twist. He's a virgin. Ater dedicating his early 20s to his carrier this sweet man needs a little help in the relationship department. Corri is a nurse who just moved back to the states after a bad break up. She makes a mistake sending a text message to her dad and ends up talking to a stranger instead. The honesty and vulnerability these two share was so sweet. No judgement no shame just pure love and respect for another human being they don't even know. The found family aspect is top notch. The banter between the stars hockey team is some of the best I've ever read. I cant wait to see how Laykin and Griffins book turns out!
I swear I think these books just keep getting better.
Bodhi and Corrie’s story was so sweet. A mistake text message about spaghetti lead them to becoming text pals, like pen pals but over text message, which then turns to more. We get to watch Bodhi turn into the man that Corri needed and Bodhi shed the bad rep that he got on his previous team for no reason. And along the way we watch him become part of the Stars family.
I loved that we also got to see the Redtails again. I seriously adored their stories and all the extra sneak peaks into what is still going on in their lives has been such a fun tidbit.
✔️dual pov ✔️he falls first and harder ✔️cinnamon roll swoonworthy mmc ✔️green flag city ✔️slight reverse age gap, mmc 24, fmc 27 ✔️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
My beloved Bodhi the king of all the greenest flags. I adored him so muchhhhh. He was sooo sweet besotted and just the best all around. Also wasn’t surprised that he was a natural and slayed his lessons🔥. He was my favorite kind of main male character absolutely besotted, the best guy ever, and 🔥🔥🔥.
Night and day going from August to him too. Bb was way better and now took first place ahead of my og bae of the Stars Oli! Also loved he was from my hometown lol a random tidbit.
Tropes: 👉 Hockey 👉 Secret Relationship 👉 Coach’s Daughter
TWs 😟:
Main Takeaway 🏹: Bodhi is a very fast learner
Synopsis 📜: Bohdi has just joined the Anaheim Stars Hockey team when he gets a text from a random number. Despite his better instincts, he responds to the text to let them know he’s the wrong number and this turns into the best decision he’s ever made. Corri is enjoying texting with the random wrong number she texted, until they meet in person and she realizes that he’s one of her dads professional hockey players who also just revealed he’s a virgin and needs help getting over that hurdle. What’s a girl to do?
Personal Thoughts 🤔: This was such a fun read from start to finish! Bohdi is the perfect mix of hot hockey player and nervous virgin and Corri is far enough removed from her horrible breakup to be ready for a fun fling like this. Once Bohdi gets over the initial nervousness, he’s a natural and the only hurdle left is facing his coach/her father! That was where Bohdi really shined! He said all the right words to stand up for Corri and make it clear he loved her more than he loved Hockey!
Yes, Yes and more YES! From the first line to the very last line. I LOVED this book. The premise is so good! I mean who expects an inexperienced hockey player. And the coach’s daughter getting to teach him? Absolutely! But Susan’s execution was so on point. I was laughing out loud most of the book, and fanning my face at THOSE scenes. I loved the camaraderie between all the players and how they bring Bodhi into the fold. And Corrigan fits in with the WAGS so well too. All in all a GREAT read that you should definitely pick up.
The Anaheim Stars newest star, Bodhi Roche, has a playboy reputation, he also has is a star on the ice. The issue is he wants more, he needs to be a team player but more than that, his reputation is the exact opposite of reality. Corrigan Hicks is back after a failed relationship. When she texts a wrong number, the last thing she expected was to make a friend. On top of that, teach him how to be the perfect man. As always you'll be laughing out loud and swooning! I loved the he's a virgin aspect, a trope we don't see a lot.
Very fun and quick read, with a unique premise. I enjoyed it for the most part, but I didn’t love all the dynamics with the hockey team and how the MMC seems to just listen to whatever they say. It’s possible though, that I would’ve enjoyed this more had I started with the first book in the series, or maybe even the first book in the series this was a spin off from. Then, I may have appreciated all the team stuff a bit more. The end felt a little too cheesy for me too, it bordered on cringe for me, but I still liked the book overall.
Bodhi receives a text message from a stranger that leads to more messages. Unknown to him it is the coach’s daughter Corri and she is funny, kind with a strange sense of humor. They develop a friend with attraction without knowing who they really are. This story is full of humor, fun and the chemistry is off the chart. The pace is steady and I couldn’t stop laughing. You don’t want to put this book down once you start. I loved this couple. This is a great Susan Renee experience!
I absolutely love Susan Renee’s books. I typically fall in love almost immediately with her characters and am sad when the story ends. This was a really sweet story and I’m happy for their HEA. It was a lot of fun that so many characters from her other books made appearances in this book. Everyone should read this because it is so sweet and wholesome (with of course some spice - it wouldn’t be a book by Susan Renee without some lol). Plus the epilogue is exactly what I was hoping for! Eeeek!
Susan Renee has done it again! This is definitely in my top 3 of the hockey books she’s written. I devoured this book! Corri is such a fantastic character & her sparkle really shines as she teaches her new man on what it’s like to be in a relationship. Seeing what happened when coach finally finds out what’s going on had me gasping. Plenty of tears & laughs in this book.
This was such a great story! The forbidden romance, she’s the coaches, daughter, he’s the professional athlete, and he’s a virgin! I absolutely love this story so much! The banter and the conversation and the chemistry between Bodie and Corrigan was top notch. The spice wasdefinitely spicy. But more than that it’s just an all-around fantastic story and I was so entertained while reading it, and I just cannot wait for the next book in the series!
Even if it was an unintentional text to the wrong guy. Bodhi and Corrigan find a way to connect with their love for food and their relationship grows. Corrigan knows who Bodhi is first but it takes him a little more time.
I love the way they find their connection and keep talking even though they don’t have to and a wonderful relationship grows. It’s funny witty as only. And it wouldn’t be Susan without a little bit or a lot bit of naughty mixed in there!
Well, Susan Renee has done it again. She has the perfect blend of laugh out loud and steamy hockey romance. The spark between Corri and Bodhi is off the charts, they compliment each other so well. And having the characters from the previous books in this series, helps things go smoothly. Looking forward to the next book.
