Stonebrook Shifters: Hidden Alpha
Luana has lost her only family, her only friend, her Gran. Encouraged by a note she finds in her Gran's desk, Lu embarks on a cross country journey to find any family she might have left. This popped up on my feed, and I was in the mood for a shifter series and decided why not?? I was so glad that I did. I really enjoyed this one! I am not sure what the difference of classification is between a novella and a novel but this seemed more like a novella. It was fast and short. I liked both of the characters. I liked their chemistry. I liked the intro to the world and the potential there. I liked the spice, and I LOVED the fact that the FMC became the main alpha. Shoutout to Jessy for that switch up!
Luana is on the move after losing her gran. Her heart and something else inside of her is pulling her in a certain direction, but she doesn't know where. And now she finds herself in the presence of this man who seems like so much more not just to her but in life. She finds herself agreeing to go back to his place so her car can get worked on. She finds herself ignoring all of the advice she would tell a friend about a strange man because something about him speaks to her soul. Makes her want to be something she never knew she was... a wolf like him! Now she finds people who have been hunting her her whole life for not only what she is but WHO she is. She is an alpha. A female alpha. And Sper, her "roommate," is also an alpha of a broken pack. She finds herself drawn to this pack of broken men and especially Sper who she now knows is her mate which might explain the chemistry they have. She feels strong and confident even knowing that there are several more obstacles that they have to face in the future.
Sper is a little lost, but he can't show it. He is an alpha to a broken pack. A pack who is bucking at the seams. He needs stability. He needs a mate. And wouldn't you know that he finds his. Out of the blue. On the side of the road with car trouble. The challenge is getting her to stay with him especially considering the fact that he is a stranger AND she doesn't know that she is a wolf. A STRONG wolf at that. Now he has gotten her to his place and introduced her to the pack. He is worried they won't know she is his especially since she doesn't know. But then they start to adjust and recognize that she is in fact their alpha. But now there are enemies at the border. Enemies who know what and who Luana is. Enemies who want her for themselves, but Sper and his pack will do anything to save her.
I am really looking forward to diving more into this world. There are more witches and shifters to look forward to! I would recommend picking this up if you want a fast easy shifter read in the start of a series.

Never in a million years did I think I would fall in love, head over heels in love actually with a Shifter Romance.
It had the best love story.
Such great suspense and action.
And can I just say, Hallelujah for curvy, self conscious girls in a sexy, spicy romance!! With an absolute God of a man nonetheless…

The MMC, Sper, is probably one of the most incredible characters I’ve read in a book.
He is so sexy, absolutely savage and his primal need to protect Lu had me in all my feels!
I loved and lived for his carnal attraction and instant chemistry with his pretty girl.
Never have I wanted characters to “JUST GET IT ON” as much as these two. It stirred all kinds of feelings and created anticipation so thick it was debilitating.
And HOLY WOLF did they do an amazing job at getting it on!!! Best spice!! Best love!! Best freaking wolf couple ever!!!
Character development was unmatched. I enjoyed all the characters - their growth, relationship building and bonding throughout the book made my heart so full.
This book is incredibly well paced and I really liked the short chapters. The story and plot flowed so well and it had the perfect balance between narrative and dialogue.
The author is an absolute BOSS and her writing is beautifully captivating. She created such intense feelings and emotions that I had a hard time with the ending nearing.
I just wanted more and more…
This book and these characters have fully changed my life. It has left me so happy, sated 😉 and incredibly jealous that I am not a wolf.
I can’t wait for the second installment.

This is a fast read, that didn’t rush the story but explained everything at an amazing pace. I really enjoyed reading about Luana and Jasper, everything about them had me swooning😍 The battle scenes in this book had me on edge the whole time, reading so fast, just to find out what happens🤣 i loved it. The twists toward the end were so good!

This book was an amazing experience. My typical go to is Thriller. But now I am definitely a fan of Romancey Spice. The characters are so well written and made me feel so invested, like I was a pack member. I loved how Lu is a woman that most can relate to and you can't help but feel inspired by her strength. My favorite character in this story was Connor, I am always drawn to the underdog ( pun intented). The way he is completely misunderstood even in his own mind. This is a story that is hard to put down when you start and even though there were times I was yelling at the book, by being for lack of a better term '🐓 blocked' in couldn't have played out better. So prepare yourself, this book will sink its teeth deep into you......and you will be begging it to bite harder.

This shifter is a fast-paced, fated mate story with quite a few little twists in there to make question things along the way. Luana is a curvy FMC who starts off trying to find her father, that was the case at least, until she met Sper.. Sper, the MMC, is an Alpha who became one out of necessity for his pack. The stars align one fateful night, and everything changes. Lu finds out truths about herself, why she's felt so different. Sper finds her, which completes him in many different ways. This is a found family to be grateful for! The action was great. Spice was about a 2.5/5 on my average scale, but well written for the story. There is a cliffhanger, but it's not for what you'd think... or who.

The book was ok, super fast and instant love between the main characters. The book is also in 3rd person which I couldn't stand. Just have each of the character have their own thoughts/chapters. Lu and sper instantly fall in love because their fated mates. Spice was ok, 1.5-2/5 for 🌶. Would have been better had the book been longer and not the instant love between Lu and sper so we could develop more of a connection to the characters. I did like that their was a strong female alpha! Curious how the next book will be with trey and Rory.

I enjoyed this book and that it was well written. It was a fast read with insta-love and a pack of misfits, a quirky mfc, and the older but sexy mmc. The storyline was enjoyable, but I kinda wished there was a bit more back story to some of the characters in the book. I am, however, looking forward to the next book!

I don’t know who wouldn’t love to read about sexy shifters and curvy strong females! I love the bond and connections they all have, and how well they all fit together! I definitely wish I could be apart of their world and have a family like that! This was a great, light read with a tad of spice. It definitely left on a cliffhanger and I need to know what happens next!!!

I absolutely LOVE a strong FMC! And wolves, and a female Alpha! I love how nice the story flowed. I love the connection between Lu and Sper, and I love how Lu was instantly able to turn a wild and rude-ish pack into super protective, more considerate men/wolves! I am looking forward to diving into the next book!

This was better than I expected. I started this book a few times, it took me a good minute for it to really hook me. I really did enjoy this book though. I loved the idea of Luana being connected to Sper’s pack and I enjoyed her naturally being welcomed by everyone. We’re kind of thrown into everything quickly, which may be why I didn’t get into it at first. I think I just needed a different pace. I love shifter romances and this one checked all the right boxes for me for a shifter story. It had great Alpha vibes, an interesting pack and pack history, witches and bears, it was great. It was just the pace, everything moved to quickly but other than that I’d definitely recommend.

I love book with alpha males and wolves and this book delivers just that and more❤️ I tend to read really fast so to me it was a quick read but really liked it and can’t wait to see what comes next!

I really liked that this was not a long book and because of that it was really fast paced so it did not get boring.
Most Wolf books have alphas that dominate with no regard to the others feelings and I liked that Lu wasn’t that kind of Alpha.
The Nickname 😂 I’ll never read SAG and think of Saggitarious ever again always Sexy Angry Giant and also lightsabers , I’ll never see them the same again.
I kept yelling at my kindle they’re siblings that’s why (ever since Conner and Lu met) are they blind?
Overall a great short read, looking forward to the next one.

There are so many things that I can say about this book.
The characters and the storyline were perfectly balanced. The way she gave you the feeling of being a part of the book.
From losing everyone you have to finding your family.
From being an outcast, to being wanted & needed.
From not being perfect, to being that perfect for your someone.
Luana lost her grandmother and found her HEA.
Super was on the brink of crazed with an odd ball pack. Yet when they found each other, their lives truly began!

Such a good book! It was a nice quick read with all the emotions and nice touch of spice! The whole cast of characters fits perfectly together with a fanstatic male and female lead. I can't wait to see what the next in the series brings!

Hidden Alpha is book one of the Stonebrook Shifters series. Jessy did a great job setting the scene for book two and I’m very much looking forward to reading it! While this was a fast-paced shifter romance, clocking in at less than 200 pages, there is no lack of action or spice. Tropes include: wolf shifters (duh), age gap, fated mates, bada$$ curvy FMC, found family, possessive Alphas, touch him/her and die vibes. If you’re interested in reading more about my rating scale and why I’m giving this book FIVE STARS and FOUR SPICE, please read on!
When I read, I am interested in the point of view (POV), the plot, and the spice. I prefer dual POV, I don’t want a predictable or bland plot, and I like my books HOT!
This story is told from third person, dual point of view, by the female main character (Luana) and male main character (Sper). I love Luana’s character! She has so many great qualities. She is quirky, fun, and possessive. Sper is a strong, sexy, alpha male who is a little lost in his life. . . until he meets Lu.
Again, this story is fast-paced. I enjoyed the characters so much that I wouldn’t have been upset with more of a deep dive into their pasts, but there was no lack of information that lead to plot holes or anything of that nature. Jessy gave us what we needed to know for everything to make sense and fall into place! While I was able to piece some things together myself, I didn’t find the plot predictable. I’m not going to give a plot summary because I feel like the blurb is sufficient.
I’m giving this a 4/5 on the spice scale. I reserve fives for off-the-charts or extra freaky spice and a four to me is a little more spice than plot. Sper and Lu have amazing chemistry. The Stonebrook Shifters series by Jessy Beckett has very quickly become my favorite wolf-shifter series, hands down. I read the first three books in roughly a week. I spent every single free moment I had reading them after receiving the third as an ARC.
“Hidden Alpha,” the first in the series starts by following Luana on a cross-country trip to discover what she can about whatever family she may have left after her grandmother passes away. After breaking down on the side of the highway, and catching the attention of Sper, one very attractive bar owner and Alpha wolf, she finds much more than she set out for. Inside of Lu beats the heart of a supressed Alpha wolf. As Sper and the other Stonebrook Shifter wolves (including her surprise brother, Connor) help Lu to dig out the wold inside of her, she rallies this band of misfits wolves together as a full-blown pack when enemies come knocking at their pack borders – because they know who and what she is, even if Lu is still finding out for herself.
The way this series CAPTURED my attention was wild. I went from “GIRL YOU DON’T GO HOME WITH SOMEONE YOU MEET ON THE HIGHWAY” to “OMG, STAY WITH SPER FOREVER AND JUMP HIS BONES ALREADY.” And wooooo- did they. The spice level was so good – the way Jessy incorporates mating into the spice is very well done. At first, I thought the pace was a tiny bit too fast, but I was hooked the entire time, and it was super essential to the story so it made sense. And the character development was wild, in the best possible way, especially with Lu. The transformation she goes through both emotionally AND physically is so good. Watching her come into her own in such a beautiful, powerful way. Who doesn’t love a boss b*tch female MC? (If you say you don’t, you’re fine with your wrong opinion). Also, Sper? Are you kidddddding me? Bro is hot AF. That is all. 🙂

After an unfortunate flat tire incident, she meets Sper, a sexy, angry giant, as Lu calls him. Sper is the unwilling Alpha of a small misfit pack of wolves, all dealing with their demons and barely keeping their wolves at bay. Lu and Sper instantly realize they are mates, but until she meets him, Lu doesn't even know she is a wolf, let alone a strong female alpha wolf. Sadly, they can't just take time to grow in their mate bond slowly and quietly. Lu has to tame the pack of misfits, and they aren't all so willing to accept a female as their alpha. Plus, there is danger from other packs who want to take Lu for their own. Can Lu pull these misfits into an actual pack and make them the family she has always dreamed of? Is one of them hiding an even bigger secret about her true identity?
This book is a quick and easy paranormal romance. Perfect for readers who want some spice to their stories. I did wish the book was a little longer so some of the storylines could have been played out more and been better developed; it felt rushed in some essences. All the events take place in a matter of days or weeks. It would have been nice to see Lu having more time to settle into the role of Alpha and bond with the pack before other pressing events took place. Overall, the characters are lovable, and you can't help but shake your head and sigh when the boys are up to their antics. I can't wait to see how the rest of the series unfolds as the other pack members find their mates.
After Lu's grandma dies, she decides it's finally time to take matters into her own hands and sets out to find the father she has never known. After an unfortunate flat tire incident, she meets Sper, a sexy, angry giant, as Lu calls him. Sper is the unwilling Alpha of a small misfit pack of wolves, all dealing with their demons and barely keeping their wolves at bay. Lu and Sper instantly realize they are mates, but until she meets him, Lu doesn't even know she is a wolf, let alone a strong female alpha wolf. Sadly, they can't just take time to grow in their mate bond slowly and quietly. Lu has to tame the pack of misfits, and they aren't all so willing to accept a female as their alpha. Plus, there is danger from other packs who want to take Lu for their own. Can Lu pull these misfits into an actual pack and make them the family she has always dreamed of? Is one of them hiding an even bigger secret about her true identity?
This book is a quick and easy paranormal romance. Perfect for readers who want some spice to their stories. I did wish the book was a little longer so some of the storylines could have been played out more and been better developed; it felt rushed in some essences. All the events take place in a matter of days or weeks. This was a lovely story that moved quickly, but in a way that made sense. We start with Lu, whose car breaks down in Sper's territory. When they meet, it's established that she is his mate, but she doesn't know anything about his world.
Lu is a strong FMC that is high-spirited and while she's a bit awkward, she's pretty outgoing, at least when it comes to the pack. She accepts their world almost immediately and this definitely has an insta love aspect to it. I struggle with insta love much of the time, but this one did add in some push and pull between the characters because Sper didn't want her to jump into things before understanding what it all meant.
I don't often read werewolf books and I liked the way this one was done. I wasn't confused about the hierarchy or their shifter abilities. We're even introduced to a witch, who it seems will be the topic of another book with one of the wolves. I'm interested to see how that plays out!
I would've loved to see a bit more character development, but this is a shorter book and for what we were given, I think it was done well. The other wolves interested me and there are a couple I really want to know more about. There were a couple of spicy scenes, which is always a great addition! Definitely check this one out if you like shifters and an adorable couple that is crazy about each other from almost the first moment. They never doubt each other for a second and that can be cute, especially when I'm needing a palate cleanser from the darker books I read!

I loved the premise of this book: a young woman finds herself without family when her grandmother passes - only to discover that what she knew about herself was a lie and that her father was possibly several states away. With nothing to lose, she chases down her past and stumbles upon a giant of a man with a magnetic presence.
Interestingly, the fact Lu and Sper immediately discover themselves to be mates comes almost right off the bat. And because Lu had no idea she was a shifter, Sper decides to slow the mating roll to give her a chance to catch up with reality and decide for herself if life with him is what she wanted.
All of the above is great. The problem is the execution. The whole book needs at minimum a good proofread. Formatting issues with the first paragraphs of chapters also takes away from the reading experience. But most importantly, the book really starts to drag at about 76% through, which is exactly when the story should be picking up. The last quarter of the book could use some tightening to keep the energy and flow up.
This book has so much potential, but I couldn’t quite give it three stars as it is. Jessy Beckett is a skilled storyteller, this book just isn’t quite ready yet.

I love a good shifter romance and this book was no exception. Lu was a badass FMC and who doesn’t love the idea of a strong female alpha to run all the unruly boys. Lu and Sper bond was my absolute favorite. Their banter had me laughing out loud. I loved how he was always boosting her confidence at every opportunity. Sper was struggling to keep the pack together but all he needed was his tough woman to bring them all together and I love that. The vulnerability he had for her just had my heart the whole time he was okay to need her and it was my favorite. Most shifter stories the men are known to arrogant and cocky these shifters accepted Lu as their alpha without question she was a total boss. Initially I thought it was a little strange she accepted things so easy but made sense the more you found later on. The fight parts of this were so well thought out in details I could literally picture it and I enjoyed that so much. I like that Lu decided to be the type of alpha that she was I hope to find out more on her story as things go forward to fill in the holes. I can’t wait to read more and get to know more about these characters. I’m not sure if I trust Rory, I have an odd feeling and I need to know why. Glad I have two more books to fill in the gaps.

This book revolves around Luana and Sper. Luana feels like she is being drawn somewhere and that somewhere leads her to the grumpy Sper. Sper is a grumpy wolf shifter who is trying to run a pack of misfits and Luana is just a human that he seems to be drawn too. They soon come to realize that Luana is much more than she seems in strength and abilities. As they try connect the pieces of her past, the present becomes much more problematic when they are betrayed.
Honestly, I would have rated this a 3.5 if it would allow me to. Some of the parts in the book felt kind of choppy or rushed. I feel like some of the plot could have been developed a little bit more. There are some aspects of this book that you don't typically see in others which a nice change of pace. I wish Sper the MMC would have been a little bit more on equal ground in strength and abilities. I feel like he was useless in a few scenes which I feel like he would have been smarter about some choices based on his character development.
Overall, I enjoyed the book and it was a quick read for me.
