Swipe Right For Orcs

Rate this book
My Halloween takes a turn for the worse when I discover my long-term boyfriend cheating. But instead of moping, I do what any newly single, scorned woman would—dump him, down some cheap wine, and impulsively sign up for an online dating site. There’s just one catch… it’s not just for humans.

Enter Osric, a towering, muscular orc who’s as green as he is irresistible. Though skeptical at first, I can't deny our chemistry and soon find myself on a date that leads straight to pound town. But things take a surprising twist on our second date when I meet Osric’s sister, Ovivia, and sparks fly—literally. Triggered by an intense heat, Ovivia’s desires set off a chain reaction, and Osric knows there’s only one person who can quench his sister’s me.

Caught between my wild attraction to Osric and the unexpected heat with Ovivia, I need to decide—could I really be a two-orc woman?

This was a great short read that I honestly really enjoyed. I loved the fast pace, insta connection, breeding kinks it all made this a good read. I enjoyed seeing all three characters together and seeing how they all work well together.

This was such a wonderful read!! Fairlie gets cheated on by her boyfriend, so she decides to download a monster dating app, which in turn completely changes her life for the better!!

Swipe Right for Orcs was a fast-paced, incredibly smutty and wholesome read! I absolutely loved it! I think this book would be a wonderful introduction into weird monster smut. The sibling plot twist did take me by surprise and will definitely not be for everyone.

The only fault I have is with the character Osric. Yes, he's a wonderful guy, but he completely disregarded Fairlie's decision around pregnancy to feed his breeding kink, and that really urked me! I'd choose the sister and day of the week.

Overall, it's a wonderfully enjoyable read! It was fast paced, wholesome and the smut was *chefs kiss*!
Thank you so much to the author and BookSirens for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

As with every other book by Cassie this was so good. This book was focused around the Halloween season. This was about Fairlie. It was her favorite time of year. She was a senior in college. She was all dressed up to go to a Halloween party with her boyfriend but he told her he had to work late. She didn’t believe him and you will find out why. She crawled up with box wine and the scream movies. An ad played on the tv before the movie started and it was for a dating app. She signed up for it and she matched with Osric. They made plans to meet up the next night for a date. This is a must read.

Get cheated on by your boyfriend on Halloween? No big deal, there is a scary movie marathon on and a whole box of wine. Oh, and a new monster dating app is available for download. Maybe you can find a sexy replacement that will actually give you an O. Swipe Right for Orcs by Cassie Lien is a short, extra spicy, taboo romance novella. This story had humor, kinks, and a lot of heat. The concept of struggling with a heat cycle gives the story some emotion behind the spice. The characters are likeable and the chemistry is well written. I would have liked a little better ratio of plot to smut, especially because the ending felt rushed. Overall, it was a fun read and I would recommend it for those who enjoy the darker side of taboo and a spice heavy story. As always, check your trigger warnings.

Thank you to BookSirens and the author Cassie Lien for providing an advanced review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I had originally read this in the All Hallow’s Eve Anthology (Volume 2)and loved it so much. After re-reading again, I'm still really, really, really in love this one. It was very fast paced, very spicy, full of likable characters. And it ends in a HEA. I seriously hope there is more like this in the future

This was fast & hot. I was little hesitant about the whole dynamic because of the sibling aspect, but I feel like it was handled pretty well. Osric has my whole heart. He saw Fairlie’s picture & said she will be mine & she will be the mother of my children ASAP plz & thank you. Story leaves you wanting more for sureee. Overall, a nice, quick read with lots of spice.

This whole book felt gross. Not the monster smut; that's all fine and good. The way monsters integrating into human society was described have me the ick. It was like humans were the ideal and monsters were inferior. I don't mind a little dubcon but the mmc's behavior was awful and reeked of misogyny and a complete lack of respect for his partner and women in general. Also, a brother-sister threesome? I know they're not interactive with each other directly but... Too close for comfort for me.

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This in no way impacted my opinions.

‘Swipe Right for Orcs’ is a fun and spicy orc romance that delivers exactly what you’d expect - action, chemistry, and some delightfully strong and possessive orcs. I love orc romances in general, and this one was no exception. The premise was intriguing, and while I had a few minor issues with how quickly things developed, it was still an engaging and entertaining read.

Plot: ★★★★☆
The plot of ‘Swipe Right for Orcs; is fun and fast-paced, diving right into the romance and adventure. The concept is fantastic - who doesn’t love a dating app leading to unexpected and steamy encounters? However, I did find myself struggling a bit with how quickly Fairlie moves on from her heartbreak. Her relationship with Osric and Ovivia develops at an incredibly rapid pace, which made it a little difficult to fully sink into the romance. A bit more tension and slow-burn buildup could have added to the emotional depth. That said, the story still delivers a great blend of romance, action, and orcish charm.

Character: ★★★★☆
The characters are fun and likable, but they don’t feel as fully fleshed out as I would have liked. Fairlie is a solid protagonist, and I enjoyed her dynamic with Osric and Ovivia, but I found myself wanting more - more development, more backstory, more time to truly connect with them. I think the main issue is the length of the book; if it had been longer, there would have been more room for character growth. Despite that, the chemistry between the trio is enjoyable, and they make for a compelling romance.

Setting: ★★★★☆
The setting is well-crafted and fits the story’s tone perfectly. The way the fantasy elements of the world are introduced is intriguing, though I would have loved to see more depth in the worldbuilding. The mix of modern elements (like dating apps) with really strong fantasy details like orcish customs is always fun, and ‘Swipe Right for Orcs’ balances that combination well. However, a bit more detail about the orc society, their customs, and the world around them would have made the setting feel even richer.

Engagement: ★★★★★
This book is easy to devour in one sitting. The pacing is quick, and there’s always something happening to keep the reader hooked. Whether it’s the romance, the tension, or the action, there’s never a dull moment. While I did wish for more character and relationship development, I can’t deny that I was completely absorbed in the story from start to finish.

Readability: ★★★★★
The writing is smooth and easy to follow, making this a very accessible and enjoyable read. The dialogue feels natural, and the chemistry between the characters comes through clearly. There’s a nice balance between description and action, so nothing feels too slow or overly detailed. The only thing that might have improved the experience is a bit more emotional depth in certain moments, particularly in Fairlie’s transition from heartbreak to a new relationship.

Enjoyment: ★★★★★
Despite a few minor issues, I really enjoyed ‘Swipe Right for Orcs’. It’s a fun, lighthearted, and steamy read that hits all the right notes for an orc romance. The premise is great, the characters are engaging, and the romance is sizzling. If you’re looking for a fast-paced, entertaining, and spicy orc romance, this one is definitely worth picking up!

‘Swipe Right for Orcs’ is an enjoyable, steamy fantasy romance that delivers on its premise. While I would have loved more depth in the characters and relationships, it was still a thoroughly fun read with great chemistry and a captivating setting. If you love orc romances and don’t mind a fast-moving plot, this is definitely one to add to your list.

Breaking news: I just got seduced by an orc and I’m not even mad about it.

Yep. A big, green, growly orc. And honestly I had a great time!

This was such a fun little read. It’s short, spicy, and doesn't pretend to be anything else. Things move fast, but that’s the whole point of a novella. You dive in, get swept away by the plot (and the monster man), and next thing you know, you’re wondering why you haven’t been reading about orcs all your life.

Now. Osric. Let’s talk. The man pays on the first date. Green flag. Then he immediately becomes completely obsessed with Fairlie. Greener flag. And when he softly asks, “Can I kiss you?” I felt that in my soul. I literally highlighted the line and just sat there like… why has no one ever asked me that? Why does an orc have better manners than ALL the men I’ve dated?

Fairlie was also super lovable. She’s pretty, nice, funny, and the moment she mentioned being a Scream fan, I was like yep, soulmate. Anyone who thinks Billy Loomis is hot automatically has my respect.

Now, if you’re wondering why I didn’t rate this 5 stars, it’s not because I didn’t enjoy it. I did! But if I had to pick one thing that held me back from full-blown obsession, it’s this: I needed more from Ovivia. I wanted to feel her fall for Fairlie the way we feel Osric’s obsession growing chapter after chapter. With him, we get clear internal monologue, his hunger, his feelings. With Ovivia, it felt more like she was just... curious during her heat. Like there was potential for something real there, but it never fully bloomed on the page. I wish I could’ve seen more of what she felt beyond the physical. Just a few extra lines in her POV, and I would’ve been all in.

Also, yes, I’m still side-eyeing that scene with Ovivia and Osric being in the room. Look, I tried to go with it, but Osric being in the room during all that, knowing that’s his sister? I had to mentally detach for a second. I get that it’s “orc culture” or whatever, but still. My brain made a noise.

And two, the contraception situation. Osric, my man, we need to talk. If orcs have a different reproductive system, maybe mention it before getting down to business. Just saying. Communication is sexy. This moment made me cringe a bit, but I powered through. For science, of course.

That aside, this novella was a blast. It made me smile, got a few chuckles out of me, and definitely piqued my interest in orc romance. This book basically said, “Hey, what if monsters were hot and emotionally available?” and I said, “Yes, please.”

If you’ve never dipped your toe into monster romance, this is a great starter. It’s spicy, low-pressure, and will probably leave you side-eyeing your human Tinder matches wondering if you should just hold out for an orc instead.

It’s a story as old as time. Girl gets stood up by boyfriend (that works at Hobby Lobby). Girl catches boyfriend cheating. Girl gets drunk on box wine, has a Scream marathon, and signs up for a monster dating app. Girl matches with a super hot orc that has a super hot sister and agrees to a date. And…the rest is the rest. This was a short fun, spicy, monster romance that had just the tiniest bit of drama but for the most part is a fun novella. The biggest issue I had with this story is I wanted more. I loved these characters. They were fun and flawed and their banter back and forth had me laughing and falling in love with them. There isn’t a whole lot of plot other than these characters coming together. This story doesn’t span a long amount of time, but I feel that the characters made such a big connection that this story could have taken place over the span of a year or so.

Fairlie is my kind of girl. When she catches her boyfriend cheating on her, she consoles herself with cheap box wine and the Scream movies (the originals because no one beats Sydney Prescott). She decides to take a chance with a monster dating app and matches almost immediately with a sexy orc. After chatting all night, she agrees to a date with him. Obviously, she’s nervous but she decides to take a chance. Osric is sexy and cute and the kind of guy that treats a girl right. He is looking for his forever and is someone who falls fast. Ovivia is Osric’s sister. She is a total bad*ss, but she has a dark cloud hanging over her head because of an accident. I loved her inclusion in this story and she just added to it.

I loved this book. It was a short story and I just loved these characters so much that I wanted more of them. Even though it was short, it was absolutely packed with spicy scenes. This is a MFF story so keep that in mind. I really enjoyed reading this and is a great book to pick up if you are a fan of monster romances and you just want a short, fun, minimally angsty story.

From the moment I started reading I was hooked. These characters sucked me into their story till I finished the entire book and even now I want more. Even while texting these characters had insane chemistry. Once they met I couldn’t stop smiling. Their relationship and basically the entire book moved very quickly. Like within days quickly but those two were so clearly meant to be it didn’t feel rushed or too fast.

Overall I found the story to be super sweet and full of chemistry and love. I loved the bond he had with his sister and how protective of her he was. I would have liked a little more scenes between her and the sister. There’s was an attraction there from the beginning and physically they got along great I just would have liked them to see them connect a little more. I really enjoyed this book and loved these characters. If we get more of them in the future I wouldn’t be mad 🏃🏃

One thing I noticed is that it was basically drama free. In one hand I loved that cause we got to focus on the characters and their relationship without any interruptions. Now on the other hand I would have loved to see her exs face when he sees that she moved on with a man he could never compare to.

Swipe Right For Orcs is a fun, fast-paced monster romance that delivers exactly what it promises: a steamy connection between a heartbroken human and a swoon-worthy orc… and his sister. After Fairlie finds her boyfriend cheating, she impulsively downloads a monster dating app and ends up matching with Osric, a surprisingly sweet orc who’s not just looking for a one-night stand. Their chemistry is instant, and when his sister Ovivia joins the mix, things heat up fast—both emotionally and physically.

It’s short (just over 100 pages), so don’t expect deep world-building or slow-burn romance. This is a spicy bite-sized read that leans into its monster-loving, poly-positive chaos with confidence and charm. Perfect for when you want something quick, sexy, and unapologetically fun.

Highly recommend for fans of monster romance and anyone looking to dip their toes into the genre without committing to a full series. Just know what you’re getting into—it’s hot, it’s fast, and it’s not your typical love triangle.

Ok 100% not what I expected but I literally don't care this was FANTASTIC! Monster/Human dating app?

I loved the connection between Osric and Fairlie. I think it was really fun to see how a hurt Fairlie threw all her reservations to the wind (thanks to some wine) and downloaded the dating app to begin with. I was also really happy to see that she gave Osric a chance once she had sobered up and did meet him for a date. They had an instant connection that was fun to see play out on the page and their chemistry was fantastic.

I also really loved the character development despite how short this story was- you really got to know just what was important to these characters and I swooned for Osric when he had to leave and go check on his sister- nothing warms my heart more than making family important and I was really glad that Fairlie understood that.

While this started off as your normal monster/human romance, this certainly takes a turn when Osric's sister starts her heat and can't make it to the clinic on time. While it may have been awkward for everyone around, I really loved seeing this somewhat "taboo" side of Fairlie and Osric's relationship when Ovivia asks for help. Really brought another dimension to the story and a whole different relationship that I was not expecting but was 100% here for.

I loved this story from beginning to end. My only complaint, as it is with most of these novella anthology pieces, is that I always wish there was more. Fingers cross for more in the future, but if not, this story will give you the HEA that you are looking for in multiple monster forms.

After finding out her boyfriend is cheating on her, human Fairlie downloads a monster match dating app and swipes right on Osric, an orc. The two get to know each other, and Osric thinks Fairlie is the one for him. After dinner with Osric and his orc siater, Ovivia, Fairlie becomes the only hope for Ovivia. Her heat struck early, and she's out of options except for one purple haired little human. Stuck between two orcs, Fairlie thinks she may have finally found her place in the world.

Cute, sweet, and spicy! This one is a good blend of modern dating apps and monster romances, plus a fun meet cute and some serious passion! These orc siblings know how to play, and Fairlie finds herself in the middle of a few new scenarios. What's a girl to do? I loved how Fairlie was confronted with a problem, took a deeper breath, and dove in headfirst. Girl's got some bravery on her! Osric and Ovivia were fun characters, both unique and united. Their contributions to the story made it well-rounded, and I only wish there was more!

A Monster And A Gentleman!

This little gem of a story was a quick read and a wild ride - well worth a monster-ly evening in. While the couple's story did work for me, what I really enjoyed most was the world this author created: a place in which humans and monsters finally coexist peacefully, but with lingering attitudes of mistrust and uncertainty. For example, while our heroine might be totally down for some monstrously good sex, she's not so sure about their future together, and notices others treating her date differently because he's an Orc. All in all, a really well drawn world, and one I'd like to visit again. The characters are interesting, believable, and likeable (though I'm still a little mad at Osric... really, sir! Although, to be fair, I still would probably have done it.), the erotic scenes are fun, and there's just a message of positivity and good feelings throughout. Enjoy!

Book Review: Swipe Right for Orcs by Cassie Lein
⭐️⭐️ (2/5)

I really wanted to like this, but unfortunately, it was a big miss for me.

First off, the trigger warnings provided were NOT honest. The listed TWs included: m/f/f, knotting, heat persuasion, breeding, and ignoring the FMC’s request for condom use — but nowhere did it mention that the M/F/F dynamic is between two sibling orcs and a human. That is a huge omission and immediately gave me the major ick.

On top of that, this book is pure smut (which is fine!) but if you're going to list TWs, they NEED to be accurate — especially when it comes to sensitive topics like incest-adjacent content.

The MMC was also just... awful. A misogynist through and through, with nothing redeeming about him.

Overall, this book was not for me, and I’m really upset that the content warnings were so misleading. Please check in with yourself before picking this one up — it’s not just a spicy orc book, and readers deserve honesty.

This was a quick and easy read with a surprising amount of world-building and character depth for such a short book. The spice level is decent, and the story moves along at a good pace.

However, a few elements pulled me out of the experience. I wasn't a fan of the name-calling from the cheating ex—especially since their presence is limited to texts and phone calls. More importantly, I was uncomfortable with the male main character deliberately refusing to use protection, particularly since this isn’t marketed as a dark romance. That crosses a line and felt more like coercion, which is a serious concern.

The ending also felt rushed and somewhat abrupt, leaving things unresolved in a way that didn’t quite satisfy. That said, I wouldn’t mind picking up another book from this author when I’m in the mood for something light and time-filling.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I’m voluntarily sharing my honest thoughts.

'Swipe Right For Orcs' was playful, fast-paced, possessive and a little incestuous!! Fairlie, is Halloween obsessed and find out that her boyfriend is cheating on her via text message. When two species collide you will find Osric and Ovivia, siblings with one little human on their mind. This was an unexpectedly sexy story, very steamy and full of spicy scenes. I am really enjoying monster smut, Cassie Lein is a great writer, really creative with the plot and definitely want to read more. This review isn't overly analytical, mostly because sometimes you enjoy a really wholesome book and stories like this help prevent reading slumps.

*Originally reviewed as part of the All Hallows Eve charity anthology*

Orcs have always been the one monster I've never really been interested in (its the tusks) but Cassie Lein may have convinced me to give them a chance. This is a cute MFF romance and I dare anyone not to be bowled over by Osric - what an absolute sweetheart. This is a quick read but there is still plenty of character packed in; its a perfect introduction to monster romance if you haven't read one before whilst still having spicy hallmark vibes!

My interpretation of the star system;
3 stars - I enjoyed it; would read the author again
4 stars - I really liked it; I am invested and definitely want more from this author/series
5 stars - I loved it; I engaged with this book completely until I finished it and it is one I will re-read

Oh how I wish this was a full length novel, I would love to explore more in this world. I am in love with the thought of the monster dating app. The connection between all three characters starts with Fairlie, the human that finds out her not so great boyfriend is cheating on her Halloween night. When Fairlie decides to download the dating app and matches with Osric it seems kismet. The easy banter and the flirting carries over into real life! I do feel like the easing of Ovivia's heat was abrupt, it did not feel totally out of place or tone for the book.

This book could have easily been a five star for me but, while it is tagged for knotting, the book never goes far enough for her to take the knot. I want so much more from this universe and I hope there are more like this to come. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This one is a super fast paced novella with monster smut that will slap you around the titties and make you ask for some more!

In fact, I WISH there was more. I was very intrigued by the premise of this one, and because I'm a sucker for a well fleshed out story, this one went a little too fast for me.

I was expecting the insta-love (because, novella!), but the knotting and breeding kink were a pleasant added bonus! Osric was a bit of a first-class A hole but we can't all be perfect.
Now, don't come for me, but I didn't have an issue with the brother/sister dynamic. They never interact sexually with each other and the author makes it VERY clear in the blurb that they are siblings. So, if this will be an issue for you, then just don't read it.

Overall an enjoyable little palate cleanser for my monster smut lovers!

Swipe Right for Orcs

Quick, spicy, cute monster romance

Fairlie, studying to be a teacher, kind, funny and so done with dating incompetent human men

Osric, sweet, driven, resourceful Orc, looking for his other half. Wants to finds a nice female to settle down with.

Ovivia, Osrics sister, sassy, straight forward and not looking for a relationship.

I loved how quickly Osric and Fairlie hit it off. She absolutely deserves someone who will make her needs and wants a priority.

He is a devoted older brother as well, and will always be there for Ovivia. She has been having a hard time as of late and he just wants her happy.

I really enjoyed reading Swipe Right For Orcs! Such a great quick read. I love the chemistry Fairlie has immediately with Osric even though he's an orc. He has such a good relationship with his sister Ovivia too.

Osric really likes Fairlie and they hit it off right away. He knows her wants Fairlie and he's making some decisions without checking with Fairlie first. But man is it hot them together.

When things get rough for his sister Ovivia during her heat, Osric asks Fairlie if she can help. Let's just say the attraction and heat between the two females is definitely there too!

Will Fairlie forgive Osric for not listening to her? Will she be able to be with both of them? Read this book to find out! Quick and oh so good!

Let me just start by stating that I am not typically someone who enjoys monster romances by any means at all . But Cassie may just have changed all that With Swipe Right With Orcs . Or it could possibly be because I’m such a lover of her writing. Omg what a fun and steamy love story that had me devouring every single word . Osric and Fairlie were so perfect together, the connection and the chemistry between them was just undeniable and immediate I mean who doesn’t love a insta love journey that starts off with a dating up and turns into so much more . All the angst , the humor , the witty banter , the twists and turns, the emotionally charged moments. Like I said in the beginning I don’t usually enjoy monster romances but this one definitely hooked me .

I love all the book I have read from Cassie Lein so I knew I had to read this book too. I have never thought I would find an Orc smexy…but after reading this story I definitely see the appeal! This book also has FF smexy scenes and I have never been very comfortable with those types of scenes. I would gloss over them if they were in any of the books I read. But I had no problems reading them in this book. The scenes were well-written, tasteful and even dare I say it…hot.
I loved this book and I want to read more about Orcs. I want to know more about their cultures, dating rituals, breeding and how they raise their children. I need more stories about Orcs, Cassie Lein! You have made me obsessed with my first monster book boyfriend! Thank you for such an awesome read!

Swipe right for orcs is a super quick, fun and spicy read. That will have your heart racing. FFM isn't my go to, I normally stay away from that genre but im so glad I gave this one a chance and read it , because I absolutely fell in love with it. I was surprised by the orc siblings. But I was here for it. It was different and I liked it alot...

Once I started I couldn't stop and I ate it up quick style, it's action packed with loads and the spice is sizzling hot. The characters and storyline where wonderfully written. Cassie does such an amazing job bringing her characters, their journey and the world to life keeping you interested from start to finish. Can't wait to read more. Highly recommend.

Great book

Rate: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Spice: 🌶️ 🌶️ 🌶️

Like everything else Cassie Lein, I love this story. So, Fairlie catches her boyfriend cheating, and of course to get over him, she has to get under someone else.... Solid plan. When she sees Osric, she immediately likes him and the attraction is there, but later she meets his sister and sparks fly. They dynamic between them all is interesting, spicy, fun at times, and overall great.

I wasn't sure initially if this story was going to flow well since Osric and Ovivia are siblings, but Cassie did an awesome job with it and I honestly forgot at some points, lol. Fairlie was a great FMC, and I liked how level headed she was.

Great read by Cassie as always, and I will continue to read her books.

I usually don't like smutty books, but this one positively surprised me. Maybe it was because I adjusted my expectations accordingly, but while there are some moral objections for me personally (like sharing a partner with your sibling), I can understand the appeal of this.
While it's not necessarily the kind of book I really like, I still recommend it for people who are more into polyamory, monsters and don't mind it bordering on incest. The subject of consent is also a bit icky, but if you've got a breeding kink this one is for you.

A nice, short erotic read, especially for people who are into / don't have objections about the things mentioned above.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This was such a great read and, once again, I'm reminded why I became such a big fan of this author - she handles unique situations, puts a romance spin on them and then has them work out in a believable and very hot way ;D I didn't know how it would work out with siblings falling for the same gal but I love how their story unfolded. Osric may have known Fairlie was his fated mate, when they met, but when his sister goes into early heat, well, he made sure that Fairlie was good with everything and that everyone was safe and satisfied. This was done so well that I kept forgetting he was Ovivia's brother. Love this! I definitely enjoyed this original story with all things mates, instant connection, a bit of breeding kink and a wonderful romance. Good fun!
