Big thanks to We Are Bookish & NetGalley for the free copy of this gem! 🙌 Soooo, I’ve been dreaming of starting a Bookstagram or book blog (one day, hopefully!), and this book feels like the perfect nudge to get me inspired. 📸📚

This handbook is a lifesaver for anyone stepping into the bookish social media world (aka future me!). It’s super beginner-friendly and absolutely packed with tips—think content creation, managing calendars, and even sharing reviews across platforms. Oh, and those Canva tips? Game-changer! 📅💻📷

At just 35 pages, it’s a lightning-quick read, but the ideas? So worth it. Even with my social media background, I picked up fresh insights to help me (someday) grow my bookish presence. If you’re looking to step up your bookish game, this is a must-read. 📝💫

Massive thanks again to NetGalley for the copy! All opinions are 100% my own, of course. 😊

A fantastic resource for those new to the bookish communities on social media, NetGalley’s Social Media Handbook provided plenty of hints and tips to get started. From how to write reviews to a Canva 101 introduction, the help would have definitely been useful when I first got my accounts underway. It wasn’t, however, for those who have been on the platforms for any significant length of time. Either way, it was a quick, easy read at just 35 pages, which I recommend to all new users of NetGalley who are interested in joining one of the book lovers’ social media realms. Rating of 4 stars.

Thank you to We Are Bookish and NetGalley for my complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.

Both informative and helpful, to newbies and to those who have been around for years. I'm grateful for the sharing of information. Even after the four years I've been with NetGalley, I still appreciate it when things are laid out simply and clearly!

This Social Media Handbook is a clear, practical, and accessible guide for anyone navigating the bookish world online, all in just 35 pages!

What I appreciated most is how actionable this handbook is. The advice goes beyond theory and can be implemented immediately, whether you’re managing a Bookstagram account, exploring BookTok, or coordinating content across multiple platforms. As someone currently focused on Bookstagram and blogging, I found these sections particularly helpful, especially the tips on photo creation, profile building, and maintaining a cohesive online presence. The platform-specific sections are concise and to the point, making it easy to focus on what actually matters for each platform.

I also really enjoyed the visual layout of the guide: instead of dense, text-heavy chapters, the content is presented in a highly visual, user-friendly format, making it feel like a true hands-on manual rather than a traditional non-fiction book.

Rather than focusing on algorithms or quick growth, this guide emphasizes clarity, authenticity, and sustainable content creation, which makes it reassuring and relevant for long-term bookish projects.

Key takeaway: A useful and reassuring resource for anyone serious about bookish content creation.

Thank you very much to NetGalley and We Are Bookish for providing this free, hands-on, and useful guide in exchange for my honest review.

Firstly I would like to thank NetGalley and We Are Bookish for providing this book for review consideration. All my opinions are my own.

Four out of five stars (4 out of 5).

What a useful resource for NetGalley to have. Plenty of helpful information to help new users to create blogs, and social media profiles on multiple platforms.

Filled with infographics, bright illustrations and clear fonts for readability.

I learned a few things even though I've been around a while (oldie here). I found this e-ARC really well informative and interesting. It was easy to read, witty and I had no trouble retaining the information given.

Another good book from We Are Bookish.

Simple, helpful, and quickly read!
I've appreciated the recent releases NetGalley has made of Handbooks and Journals that give good tips on several book and review-related subject matter. This latest is the help book lovers develop their social media presence.

Mostly, this handbook addresses the getting started process so existing social media account holders might not find much in the form of new ideas and information. While I'm not new at it, I don't consider myself completely proficient so I was glad to read through and spot a couple items for consideration. Mostly, I was given a sense of confidence because I saw support that I was doing all right with the approach I've taken so far with my various accounts (most was common sense and getting helpful support from the generous book community out there).

All in all, I'm glad there are these helpful guides and I hope they keep making them.

This is a great beginners guide to start book reviewing via different forms of social media. It is organized well in an easy to read format. I feel like I already knew a lot of this advice from being so engaged in the online book community already, but there were definitely a few things I found helpful! Thank you to #NetGalley and We Are Bookish for providing this short resource #NetGalleysSocialMediaHandbook for free to your readers and reviewers. (If you'd like to read this, you can download a copy directly on NetGalley)

A cute and straightforward guide to Social media from the perspective of helping future book influencers. Even though this is for 2024, it is rather up to date with changes in the Social landscape (like including Twitter as X).

A good useful guide to social media with practical tips to help, containing things I’d never even thought about. I will surely use some of these myself so it was a useful read but a bit slow in places. Definitely useful for those new to the book community and are just getting started or a bit unsure what to do.

I went into this thinking that this was going to be repetitive information, since I had already read the Book Advocate Toolkit. However, this is tailored specifically to how you should use social media to post book reviews. Some of these tips can even be used outside of book reviews as just good social media practice for everyday use. Very helpful little guide!

Perfect for beginners, NetGalley's Social Media Handbook focuses on creating a bookish account, posting and scheduling content and engaging your followers across various social media platforms with the specific features of each. I'm still new in posting bookish content and I was mainly looking for ways to elevate my Instagram account. Surprisingly, this guide was really just the bare bones basics but I did learn a few new things that I didn't know. There's also several helpful links to articles on the We Are Bookish blog for more in depth information which I highly recommend.

Most valuable to me personally were the photo tips and hashtag tips along with the accompanying blog links, providing insight into things I had never considered before. I'm struggling with Canva so I was hoping to find help there but I was disappointed I didn't find more. I found the section on book reviews less helpful as I feel my book reviewing skills are more advanced. I also found quite a bit of repetition in the advice given for the individual social media platforms even though this handbook was only 35 pages in length.

I still think this guide was well worth the read and I plan to save it for future reference to brush up on what I learned. It also sparked my interest in exploring the blog further. Thank you to NetGalley and We Are Bookish for offering this guide to social media!

I found this handbook to be very informative and resourceful. The handbook provides exactly the kind of information and guidelines for anyone new to becoming a book influencer. Plus, I find it to be a good review source for anyone who is already an influencer allowing them to refresh on the basics of various social media reviewing.

I found there to be many positives to this handbook. The layout is easy to read and each section makes it easy to focus on a specific topic. The links included on the pages are useful seeing as there could be areas influencers need more guidance which is not covered in the handbook. Also, I found the information on scheduling to be very informative and helpful. Influencers are often posting for many different sites, authors and other agencies. Finding a schedule that works is not always easy. The handbook offers an example of setting up a schedule and keeping track of information. This is a good aspect to have included in the handbook for a new influencer.

I would have liked to see some additional information on videos. For a beginner, trying to approach the creating of videos and how to make them the most appealing can be very difficult and intimidating.

As always, We Are Bookish have produced a useful resource for reviewers whether they promote books received from Netgalley or not.

As an experienced reviewer that hasn't craqcked the social media market, I found the book instantly provided idea about how I could do things differently and network more successfully to build a more prominent community within the few sites I operate.

I would recommend this book to all book reviewers that love engaging other book lovers. It provides insights on specific platforms, highlighting the difference between them. It also gives pointers about how to use the Netgalley site, which is a resource useful in itself as Netgalley has a lot to offer. What makes this book the full five stars that it deserves is the concise and simple writing style it is afforded. The book is easy to understand whether you are 13, 30, or 60 and wanting to get started.

The key takeaway for me was the reminder that I didn't have to create the same reviews in a different way for each site, i.e. I could post a review on several sites, but to be mindful of the different audiences so that minor adjustments might be made. I also liked the advice about what type of images to post and how best to create them.

This is a brilliant guide for those looking to start a bookish social media account. I have recently started a Bookstagram and was feeling quite overwhelmed, but the hints and tips in this guide have really helped.

The guide covered all things from how to pick a platform, set up an account on that platform, planning your content, engagement, as well as things like social etiquette. There were some really handy dos and don’ts when writing a book review for social media, which I will definitely be taking on board.

The layout of the guide was easy to read and follow. It’s concise and to the point, but also includes lots of additional links to more detailed information, such as review examples and how they can be adapted for different platforms and Canva tips! I found the link to the social etiquette section highly valuable.

This guide is a must-have for anyone looking to start a bookish social media page and even those who already have an account and are looking to enhance their pages. I have gained some very valuable information from this guide and cannot wait to put what I’ve learned into practice.

Thank you We Are Bookish for providing this book for review consideration via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

This handbook is digestible and to-the-point, with practical tips. Having grown up with social media, I perhaps get a bit jaded when it comes to advice on how to use it since I take it for granted. This was great for getting back to basics. Running a bookstagram/tube/tok is different from running a personal social media, and there were some fantastic tips for how to customize your page for the platform you’re using, to make your page pop, and tricks for efficient cross-posting. When trying to make a name for yourself, there can be a lot of pressure to be on every platform and to make every post unique, but that can become overwhelming, so I liked that it broke down the different strengths of each platform and advised that you could pick just whichever one(s) suit the kind of content you want to make. I loved that it included easily accessible links for more information, and listed other specific resources to go to for graphics and photo editing. All around very thorough, while leaving room for your own touch.

Thank you We Are Bookish for the review copy! I leave my review honestly and voluntarily.

This is a solid resource for those newer to utilising social media for their bookish pursuits. I found a lot of the information in here to be clear and easy to follow, with great examples. This handbook covers most social media platforms, and highlights do's and don'ts as well as pro tips and general information.

I do think it's a little misleading to say this handbook was for seasoned pros, however. I didn't really learn anything new here, which is a positive in some ways because it indicates being well-versed in ways to make social media work for the platforms I use. However, it also came across as very common sense based, and thus didn't offer me anything to build upon, which is why I opted to pick this up in the first place.

But for the newer users or those confused on how to get further ahead, I could see this handbook being a good choice to pick up, and for that, I appreciate the team who put this together to assist others.

This handbook provides a helpful guide on creating bookish content by explaining how the most popular platforms work, with tips and tricks that are specifically catered to each one. It also mentions and presents useful information related to how accounts on these platforms could be set up.

Despite the abundance of information related to content creating, each page is the perfect combination of short and sweet. I felt that the content tips section was the most useful to me. I’d always struggled with figuring out how to even start with creating bookish related content. However, with the information in this handbook, I have a much better idea.

I believe that any bookish content creator, brand new or seasoned, could benefit from reading this handbook. It has a bunch of useful information that I think could help anyone looking to start or even those who just want to better their preexisting account.

A great companion guide to NetGalley's Book Advocate Toolkit, the Social Media Handbook has some excellent tips for anyone starting out in the Bookish world. Starting with the basics like introducing you to different platforms and moving through pointers for photographs and engagement, this was a well-rounded crash course in Bookish social media.

While some of the information may be redundant if you've been operating on these platforms for a while, it's definitely helpful for anyone brand new to the game. Colorful illustrations help keep it all visually appealing, and reference links are included for any extra help you may need.

Thanks to We Are Bookish and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book!

For all people who are associated and/or aspire to talk about books and write about your interactions with a book and share the same across social media then We are bookish publications and blogs are a mandatory go-to user manual to hone this art.
The books have helped me in structuring my reviews instead of the passionate rants or odes that I used to write when I first started a few years back.
This social media handbook is another strong entry to help prospective book reviewers to connect with social media successfully. It gives a complete overview as well as how to go about it for several popular social media.
A perfect book for beginners and also for people who are not able to get a feel of the process.

I thought this social media handbook was well put-together and I think it's a great introduction to the social media review-posting space. However, I did find that it was a bit surface-level and that having any familiarity with the platforms it mentions might render reading through this handbook slightly redundant. It doesn't really go into depth on how the reading culture between the different sites varies, proper etiquette in regards to posting reviews on all of them, and the best way to customize your reviews to get the most reach. I know that there are plenty of more in-depth resources available in forums, but would have liked for NetGalley to address some of these in their handbook. Still useful, though!

While very short (36 pages or so), this handbook gives a lot of very good advice for book reviewers as regards dealing with social media.

There are sections with info on getting started with do’s and don’ts, and pages that focus on Bookstagram, BookTok, BookTube and Book Blogging. There are also tips on writing book reviews and editing those reviews for different social platforms. There are also some handy tips on photos for social posts and advice on how to make your posts more accessible.

While I would have really loved a bit more in-depth info on the platforms I’m interested in, this was a good overview.
