The Bohao cultists have just got their noses bloodied—it was hardly fatal, but humiliating all the same. Their leadership has now turned their attention to the Seekers, baffled at how such insignificant pests could have managed to sting them so painfully. Moreover, they couldn't punish the Seekers for their impertinence—those pesky gadflies had already slipped into the demon realm.

The Seekers are intent on fighting this infection, and so they mean to track it to its source. That could only be one place—Holiton, a true blight of the demon world. That's where the supply chain of the filthy yellow sludge leads, and it's also a convergence point for all the caravans of human cargo.

So what are the Seekers going to do now? They intend to get there fast and do what they do best to eradicate the cultists completely!

Vasily Mahanenko is a fantasy author working in the new genre of LitRPG - the MMO-based fantasy and sci fi. His Way of the Shaman series took Russian literature by storm in 2012.

Vasily dipped into his college-days insider knowledge as a hardcore gamer in order to create a believable world of the virtual-reality MMO game. His bestselling series combines fiction and video games, telling the story of Shaman and his friends stuck in the ruthless reality of Barliona. He used his more than ten years' experience as an ERP implementation project manager to approach his writing in a well-organized manner, working to a strict schedule, a set of deadlines and even a budget. At the moment, the series boasts six novels with the seventh one in the works - this time the author expands on stories of Shaman's companions and those who helped and supported him in his trials and tribulations.

The first book of the series has already been translated into English, with more translations to follow, aiming to make the Way of the Shaman series available to the English-language reader in its entirety.

Vasily's other passion is space exploration which is why he now works on a follow-up series entitled Galaktiona. Set in a space-simulator based world, the first book of the series in already finished while Vasily works on its sequel.

Normally, I give these books a 5 star review. However, blatantly ignoring and rewriting the previous stated facts of the world was just irritating and sloppy plot development.

The story also concentrates too much on all the apprentices being paired up and married and even the mentor. Everyone finds their perfect match and marries blissfully ever after so quickly. A good third of the book is Zander drooling over rincede and contemplating manipulation to get her to be his second wife before she marries Gurleon [mentor]. The actual action is as always good, and zander as usual excels in all other areas.
Below annoyed the heck out of me though

1. The spatial storage spaces. Originally, the destroyed school that Zander inherited knowledge from were the only people who knew about these. The names less one being a surviving member of the school did. It was stressed that the clan heads, executors of fate, etc, knew nothing about them, hence why zanders slipped past. Then, the head of the smugglers had one and used an artefact to grant access to his shared space. But no one else knew. Now, the librarians, the head of the school of wrath, some cultists, Darna feng, and the head of the executors of fate all have one or know about them. The librarians sell knowledge and a schools headmaster? And if the head of the executors of fate knows why, doesn't the executors of fate know as it's a security breach?

2. Wormhole Creators were extremely rare. Less than 1 in a million. And only demons. Hence why not that many wormholes and seekers sought them out and killed them. Suddenly they are all powerful with a wormhole seed being an ultimate weapon. Then, every executor of fate [human] is one, the head of the school of wrath and so many many more.

The Law of the Jungle series by Vasily Mahanenko proved to be a gripping blend of wuxia-inspired progression fantasy and survival-driven adventure. It takes the familiar “might makes right” premise and builds it into a richly layered world where Qi cultivation, territorial dominance, and personal ambition all collide.
From the very first book, the stakes are clear: in this world, strength isn’t just an advantage, it’s the only currency that truly matters. Mr. Mahanenko crafts a setting divided into zones, each brimming with danger, opportunity, and the constant threat of betrayal. The pacing is brisk, with battles and breakthroughs coming in satisfying waves, yet there’s enough breathing room for character growth and moral dilemmas to take root.
If you enjoy fast-paced progression fantasy with a martial arts flair, morally complex characters, and a world where every victory comes at a cost, you will definitely want to add the ‘Law of the Jungle’ series to your TBR, it is well worth diving into.
Happy Reading…

Cultists everywhere.

The eleventh book in the Wuxia Progression series. Back to the demon realm for another attack against the cultists. Thank the frogs for this one several times over. While our heroes continue to grow in power, there are still frequent trips back to the healing chamber. Can they pull off the impossible? Of course, just a few quick thoughts from our favorite mental absolute and bingo bango the impossible is a walk in the park. What is the next step? Dying to find out…

I received a review copy of this book.
Interesting to see the story progress. The main characters are making progress on eliminating their enemies, making mistakes along the way too, although thankfully not fatal ones, and advancing (always advancing) their own cultivation as well. If you're a fan of cultivation stories, this is one series you probably won't want to miss.

Lost 2 stars for NOT writing a Recap.

I think every reader needs to start doing this to force authors to write a quick Recap chapter, which readers can skip if they remember, and those who don't won't stop reading the series.
