By now most people have heard about The Secret by Rhonda Byrne. It is a book that promises that by using the Law of Attraction that you can get virtually anything you want out of life. Although the idea seems pretty intriguing, author Ed Gungor states that there's more to the secret.

There's More to the Secret acts basically as the conscience of The Secret. Whereas The Secret encourages readers to wish for the stars, the more material possessions the better; Gungor's book asks the reader to really think about what they really want to attract. Yes, it would be great to have a new car, a big house, and gobs of money but really would that satisfy you. Even with all this stuff, you'll still be you, you'll still have all the troubles that life brings, and somehow you'll have to pay for all that junk.

I agree wholeheartedly with the author, The Law of Attraction isn't a quick fix method. Often the challenges we face in our life make the journey that much sweeter. I personally tend to believe that the Law of Attraction doesn't necessarily bring us what we want but what we need to better understand ourselves, to live a contented life, and become our genuine selves.

Rhonda Byrne's book The Secret has taken the world by storm, featured on Oprah and catapulted to major success. Its principles of the 'age old secret of the law of attraction' have spurred discussion and a massive following. According to this law, you can have anything you desire if your mind continually thinks of that thing, which will attract it to your life. But how does this law fit in with a Christian's life? Is this a bunch of new age hype, or is there something to this secret? Ed Gungor, a well-known and respected Christian speaker and author, set out to discover if Christianity and The Secret are mutually exclusive.

Ed Gungor's thoughts and ideas, as presented in There is More to the Secret, will challenge Christians to think way outside of the typical box. One of the main points he makes in this book is that the law of attraction and the idea of sowing and reaping as presented in the Bible, are very similar concepts. He presents a great deal of Biblically supported evidence that people tend to become as they think. Yet Gungor takes these concepts a step further than Byrne does in The Secret (thus the statement that there is more to the secret) He explores the difficult questions about why bad things might happen to good thinking people, as well as exploring the limitations of Rhonda Byrne's propositions.

There is More to the Secret is not an easy read. There are deep, thought-provoking concepts that require pondering and prayer. The book would be excellent for study and discussion groups, and offers plenty of opportunity for spiritual and personal growth. Christians are highly encouraged to pick up There is More to the Secret rather than blindly dismissing Rhonda Byrne's book as 'new age garbage.' The well thought out principles presented will enhance the Christian life and encourage you to examine things more closely.

Attempts to adopt the new age concept of the so-called Law of Attraction promoted in the book and DVD, "The Secret" and "baptize" it with Christian theology. The Law of Attraction states that, by thinking positively about anything you want, it will be attracted to you and you're guaranteed to get it. There are some good points made in the book but they would be good advice without the "law". The author resorts to biblical proof texting, application of pop-psychology, and a host of qualifications that make the Law of Attraction pretty pointless.

A decidedly Christian take on the pop-culture, religious sensation 'The Secret.' Ed Gungor approaches the theology of the Secret from multiple angles, tackling any issues they have with traditional Christianity and explaining his own reasoning along with anecdotes. An easy read, informative and quick, I recommend this as an easy read for when traveling or waiting at the doctor's office.

It’s a follow up from The Secret. It has some good points. It’s from a Christian perspective. I am not a fan of someone picking apart other people’s work.

He could of definitely wrote this book in a different manner & still keep God as the focus.

3.5*** Mr. Gungor examines the concept of "The Secret" made popular by The Secret (The Secret, #1) by Rhonda Byrne . The basis is the law of attraction and this author makes the idea more compatible with Christian beliefs--there are ideas within the original book that he wanted to examine and discuss more. There is power in focusing on the positive, but he also reminds us of God's will for us and the importance of breaking strongholds in our lives that create negative cycles. Consider this a call to be good stewards of our thoughts/emotions as well as all that God provides to us. One of the biggest perspective shifters for me was to be more mindful of how I "tend to see selectively...though we may have the truth right in front of our eyes, we don't always catch it." Knowing this, my reluctance to fully embrace this book is a personal one. What I thought most after reading it was that I need to spend more time in the Word.

Excellent book by Ed on the book 'The Secret' and how a lot of the principles have been borrowed from the Bible and given a more commercially appealing twist, to sell books to the masses.

Eh. Had some good points, but ended up really just being a sermon. Talked more about the misapplication of the Law of Attraction.

Excellent---so much so it was the first letter I wrote to an author thanking them. I got a response in 24 hours! This book confirmed a chapter that was writing itself in my life and sensitized me to the frailty and wonder of tender grace. Within 48 hours of my epiphany I had already proven myself unworthy of the very thing. I failed my teammates and apologized. It seems I'll never get there. Ah, but the beauty of the Secret is that 'the plans I have for you' are to have hope urge you on to practice...peace, patience...etc.

A foundation book for any Buddhist or Christian library! A winding together of impermanence, possibility and suffering being human and the God who is cheering us on!

I remember hearing about the book, The Secret, years ago, and about the law of attraction. It was so interesting to me for a while, then the more I thought about it, it didn't seem to harmonize with the Bible. Then recently, I discovered this book, written by a pastor, and in it, he tells what he believes about the concept of the law of attraction. He shows how some of it is right in line with the scriptures and also the parts of it that are not.

This is an amazing, eye-opening book that has strengthened my relationship with God and has inspired me to change my life even more than I have already started to.

Well done.
And, an excellent read to balance ones thinking. My enjoyment grew w/reflection & re-reading things. It's a short book that asks for slow reading, contemplation!
Life without God, Jesus, is an empty one!
