Marauders #3

Center of Gravity

Rate this book
Anna’s goal in life had been set when she was ten years old: she was going to become a principal dancer at the New York City Ballet, and she made it. Her entire life revolved around dancing, and she loved every second of it. But after a split-second lapse of attention, she lost it all.

Now, with a heart as broken as her leg, she agrees to follow her aunt Irina back home—to Greenville, Arizona.

Mitch lived family life vicariously through his older brother, Mac, and even if he envied Mac’s devotion to his wife, he’d never even been close to feeling anything similar to a woman, and he wasn’t looking for it, either. When their friend Lisa asks him to show her friend Anna a good time, he’s very intrigued about the possibilities a flexible ballerina would present.

Then he gets to truly know her, and that’s when things become complicated.

Lina Andersson was born and raised as far up north as you can go in Sweden. The long, dark winters were made for reading and writing, which is pretty much all she ever did. In her early twenties, she packed up her husband and son and moved to the slightly warmer climate of southern Sweden, where they still live, more than a decade later. When she's not writing, she's an avid gamer and film geek.

4.25 RATING- I've chatted with a couple GR friends about this book and was surprised to find, it didn't rate as high with them. I liked Center of Gravity and thought it was a quality addition to a series that I love. Mitch and Anna were a cute couple. I loved the fact that some bad ass bikers could get wrapped up watching ballet. I don't want to give anything away but I did have an issue related to one of the main characters and decision they made. However, both were really young and I didn't let it sway my overall feeling for the book or their love story. People make mistakes and life goes on.

One character that I continue to love and wish would get his very own book is Brick! I read the short story on the FCP website but it just made me want more! His sense of humor, his care for his kids, his wife, and his club all make me want to know this MC President more.

Can't wait to see what's next.

5 "Never been a time when you couldn't." Stars

Each book of the Marauders series by Lina Andersson of the Freak Circle Press proves to be a really enjoyable MC romance. I'm impressed with the quality of writing from Andersson because while her plots and characters have been on point from the beginning her writing gets better with each book.

Center of Gravity continues the story of the Marauders from where Book Two Perfect Collision ended and focuses on the other Baxter brother - the hound - Mitch. Fun loving, easy going, intelligent, charming, slutty Mitch. I absolutely adored his character. He's a man boy still finding his wings, he knows who he is but he's yet to meet his match so while he waits, he playboys. He meets Anna through Bear's daughter Lisa and is immediately intrigued by his sudden attraction. What I love about Mitch is that he carries he care-free attitude into his friendship with Anna. He doesn't judge, he listens, he contemplates, and he makes her better. Anna a quiet, reserved, dancer and the complete opposite of Mitch but she needs Mitch's brand of TLC after suffering a terribly traumatic accident that's her feeling short in life. The beautiful friendship with benefits ensues and their story takes off from that point with twists, turns, and two people learning who they are with each other. It seems they are incompatibly matched in their dispositions but the characters compliment each other so well. From the very beginning it's easy for the reader to feel their connection.

A theme that runs rampant through the books of this series is the MC family within the Marauders. This book's hero is Mitch Baxter, second son of the Marauders President Brick. The way Andersson chose to unfold this series by choosing the President's sons to star in their books has been a really intriguing aspect to the MC. The two boys have a relationship so strong it enhances their Brotherhood within the MC and with their father. I loved the parts where the boys were together or them with Brick. It's been a great two books to get to know within their own little family and within the MC as a whole. These are characters with whom it's easy to connect and easy to root for some semblance of a happy ending.

Andersson accelerated the plot of the Marauders MC in this book as well giving us a new look a what the Brothers are facing in their future as a club. I'm looking forward to where that goes, indeed. But moreso I'm looking forward to learning about more of the secondary characters I've grown to love in the Marauders. I want to meet all their perfect matches. The Marauders are a great club to read for any fan of the genre. It's easy to get lost in their world for a while especially with great characters so developed as Lina Andersson's.

My reviews of Marauders Series:
Short Story 0 M-Theory
Book One Arrow of Time
Book Two Perfect Collision
Novella 2.5 S-Duality

Anna led a very structured life as the principal dancer for the New York City Ballet. It was ripped from her in an instant and now Anna has returned home to her aunt Irina in Greenville, Arizona. Anna wont deny that she had a soft crush on Mitch while in school, but she always avoided him as she knew he was a bad boy through and through.

With the help of a friend and a few embarrassing lonely confessions, her close friend sets her up with Mitch. It is supposed to be a one time roll in the hay, but Mitch sees no reason to continue seeing one another. Mitch quickly realizes his feelings are involved, he doesn't want to admit it and with issues in the club he is not sure where he wants it to go. Mitch's role in the Marauder's MC is important and he is in danger and so is Anna. However Mitch's closed mouth about his feelings can cause everything to ruin apart, will he be able to survive the storm that is brewing?

This became an immediate favorite. I loved Anna, she is trying to heal and is struggling with what path she wants to take. Mitch comes off as a laid back bad boy but there is a lot more to him that you didn't see in the previous books. One of the best couples in the series so far. Excellent read.

A prima ballerina and a biker? Doesn’t sound like a good match, but the author pulled it off excellently and delivered a story of a deep love between two totally different people who started off in a purely sexual relationship. First, I highly recommend that you read the first two books in the series so that you are familiar with all of the characters. With that said, the book could be read as a standalone. Mitch is the son of the Marauders president, a young man with a genius level IQ who has been raised in the club. The close, loving relationship between Mitch and his brother (Mac) and his father (Brick) jumps out of the book and makes you feel the family connection. That’s one of the things I like about this author, it’s not just about the two main characters, it’s about all of the other people who are in their life. Mitch has always been a man-ho and has no intentions of settling down with one woman. Anna was a prima ballerina with the NY Ballet when a car accident mangled her leg and took her from the thing she loved most in her life, dancing. The relationship develops slowly and escalates from being friends with benefits to deep love. There’s angst, suspense, violence, heart wrenching emotional scenes and some pretty hot sex. The book kept me turning pages and I look forward to the next one in the series. I’m ready to find out what’s between Lisa and Sisco.
If you like the Freak Circle Press writing style I highly recommend this book. There were some editing issues but definitely not overwhelming. I love Ms. Anderson’s writing style and her ability to make her characters come to life for me.

I really REALLY wanted to love this. This particular book was about Mitch (one of Brick's sons). I liked what I knew of Mitch in previous books - horndog, good-looking, and bored because he's close to an intellectual genius.

The chick paired up with him (Anna), was just not likable and thus the 3.5 stars. I really REALLY tried to like her but some of her behaviors (e.g. trip to New York - hey no spoilers) was the point of no return for her/me.

Mitch was wonderful. Beautiful. Lovable. A great book boyfriend.

I loved it. I have found that all the books in the series are very rich in character detail, which I have really liked. I think there may be a bit less focus on the MC in this one, or at least the MC stuff seemed more like building blocks for future books, setting up future scenarios. I admit that I enjoyed the book so much that I didn't really give it much thought until I was finished and was reflecting back. I'm not usually analytical about my reading material and I don't know what specific elements within a book make it an enjoyable read for me, but whatever they are, this one had them...lol. I guess what I consider most important would be that I like the characters and really want good things for them. In this series there are so many characters I love, and I hope Lina tells each of their stories. When I finished this book I felt like I was leaving friends that I would not be seeing for a long time. Obviously I can't wait for the next one.

Lina Andersson is a friend and fellow writer in the Freak Circle Press.

I love Mitch. I want to put that right out front. He’s gorgeous, of course, and his sense of humor is an absolute delight. He’s a bit of a hound, but he’s so comfortable with it, and almost gallant about it, that it’s not even a flaw.

When he meets Anna, a former ballerina, his first thought is that she’s probably so flexible he could try out any number of unique positions with her.

Anna is going through a major life transition that’s painful in all sorts of ways. She’s not as open to her feelings as Mitch is. But when they click, they really, really do.

The Marauder men are all fantastic, and the club is a family that is loyal and funny and loving and just totally wonderful. Every book in this series makes me love them all more.

This series of books is amazingly well written. The back stories of the individual characters have been so well researched and are extremely detailed and the author has chosen to address issues that are often avoided by many authors - conditions such as attention deficit disorder, emotional child abuse & dyslexia. In this particular book the attention to details of computer programming and hacking, European and Russian culture, ballet, and physics & math are astounding and add so much to the basic biker storyline and the individual romance. This is definitely one of my favourite series in this genre.

Lina Andersson is a friend and fellow author of the Freak Circle Press.

There's a real sweetness to this book, and it's not coming from Anna the darling ballerina. It's coming from Mitch Baxter, which is totally unexpected. I adored how Anna was so shy, unsure, and lacking in confidence. She was quite different from a lot of female leads in MC novels, and that meant our hero had to handle her with care.

But, it's Mitch Baxter. The eternal horn dog was interested in how "bendy" she was, but the girl got under his skin and rather than run off like a child he decided she was interesting enough to spend more time with. I can't get into the storyline too much without risking spoilers, and I really think any book worth its salt deserves to be read and enjoyed with no expectations or obvious conclusions. But one of the "signature" aspects of a Lina Andersson book is how these normal characters fall into this very unusually MC world and it just works in all ways.

I can't wait for the next Marauders book and what Lina has in store for us.

This is the story of Mitch and Anna. Although this is a stand-alone the secondary characters will make more sense if you read the first two books.

I like Mitch. In the beginning he is well on his way to meeting Dawg's status of biggest man-whore. Anna's character just breaks my heart. She loses her life as she has always known it because of an accident. As she heals physically she must also heal mentally. Mitch gives her a second chance at life and I am very happy for both of them.

There is more drama in this story than in the previous two. The revenge situation comes to a head and poor Anna is stuck in the middle. I like how it played out, but she has more balls than I would have!

I hope there is another book to this series coming out...I want little sister to grow up and have a book!!

Cover is not good, get more creative please.

3.5 STARS

At times, I actually found this book kinda boring.

What redeemed it were 2 things:

1. The characters seem more real than most other MC romance books
(they don't have spastic personalities and are thoughtful people)

2. The author managed to surprise me in the end with the villain reveal
(unfortunately, after having read a couple thousand books at this point
in my life, not very many plot twists surprise me)

Even though I didn't like this book as much as the first 2 in the series, I like this author's writing style A LOT and I admire than an author from Sweden can do so well in writing American characters. It's rare to catch anything in her books that doesn't pertain to actual Americans.

I love these books everytime I read one. At first glance Mitch and Anna seem like total opposites, a biker and former ballerina, but their story was enjoyable to read. I like how you find out what's going on with the MC club, but not in a trashy way like some other biker stories. I can't get enough of Lina Andersson's story of the Mauraders, and can't wait for the next one which I think is Sisco and Lisa. But what I would really be interested in is Eliza's story (Mac and Mitch's little sister).

I liked Center of Gravity but something was missing. I liked Mitch but Anna never really grew on me. Their "relationship" didn't shoot off sparks for me and when Anna takes a trip to NY it seemly came out of left field. I'm still not completely sure how I feel about this one but I do know it wasn't as great as the previous one.

Great Story

Great story

This was a great story . That being said I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 for a reason . There was casual use of two derogatory and discriminatory words , multiple times for each word , that made me very uncomfortable. The use of the word faggot referring to gay men and the use of the word gimp as a nickname given to the heroine by the hero because she was physically disabled . I can’t review this book and not mention how much that bothered me .

As for the story I loved it . Anna was a ballerina who had an accident that crippled her . Mitch is the lovable manwhore biker . They enter into a friends with benefits relationship but when they catch feelings things get complicated .

I loved seeing Vi and Mac from the last book and how Vi and Anna related to one another . Mac and Mitch had a great brother bond . Brick is the father of all fathers . I loved him .

This whole Mc has such a sense of family that so many others are missing that I had to love them . I am excited to read more by this author and can’t wait for more .

I absolutely love this book and this series so far. Its written so perfectly and what makes this story good is that it's not your usual boy meets girl, fall in love get married and have a bunch of kids and live happily ever after. I admire where the characters have all grown from and where they are headed.

fantastic read, amazing story line and you pretty much can't put the book down once you've started. Lina Andersson thank you for having the thought to give us this little piece of heaven in this series and look forward to reading more off you :) will definitely recommend this book/series to anyone and everyone.

Story was excellent.. I get really aggravated with spelling in grammar errors. It's lazy and very unprofessional. I most likely will not read any more of your books.
