Rate this book
Legendary Mer-king Cyclone is dead, his corpse now nailed above the conquering Elven emperor’s seat of power.
Tetra, a Mermaid scavenger driven to make amends after her inaction caused the death of her previous pod, knows it will take a drastic act—like retrieving their beloved king’s body—to inspire the Merfolk to revolt against their conquerors, and she’ll need a team to do it.
Each with their own reason to rebel, Tetra assembles a crew made up of a gruff Kraken arms dealer, a skilled Orc spy, a genius Goblin jeweler, and an unhinged Vampire spawn, whose fractured mind connects to Tetra’s shattered heart. But as they prepare to pull off the heist of a lifetime, the emperor turns the country’s diverse population against Tetra’s people, forcing the crew into a dangerous race to prevent genocide as the emperor’s lies continue to poison the public’s opinion.
With her plans in shambles, Tetra’s past weaknesses come to light, and she must rally her disheartened team of misfits and murderers in time or else watch the Merfolk face extinction.

You had me at vampires, elves, and orcs, all in the same story!!!! I was concerned about it being YA but had zero issues with that!! The cover is beautiful, and Brittany is so sweet for allowing me to be one of the first to experience this world. I wish I had found this author sooner. This story was so whimsical ❤️

ARC READING REVIEW:

I got an advance readers copy of Sunshine's Syndicate. Let me start by saying this is totally out of my normal spectrum of reading. I typically stay in the dark romance, fantasy smut area of reading but this was a cute romantasy story. If you are a sucker for silver/white haired men then I'd give this a read. It had a lot of DND/Baldurs Gate feeling areas, plus the MMC is based loosely on Astarion vibes. While reading you are easily transported to the world of Carnage and Tyrr, which can be hard for some authors to get the reader to fantasize the world that it takes place. It was a slow start into the book but merely to get all the story in place before embarking on the journey. You can easily if you're struggling with panic attacks and post traumatic stress disorder easily relate to Tetra and Jayvin. It was an experience for me to read as not many authors touch on the true aspect of the attacks and issues surrounding it. However Brittany did and did remarkably well with the break down of the attacks and stress disorder as well as the calming process that the FMC and MMC go through. It's easily to be attached to the heartache they both go through. It was an action packed ride and brought tears to my eyes during some scenes. I love that even with their dark pasts, mistakes and their flaws they still got a Happily Ever After.

So in short;
If you have a soft spot for emotionally damaged characters, white/silver haired devils and fantasy lands this book is simply a must! You'll fall in love with the story and kinship that these characters even as unlikely as they are to be together build.

5/5 stars!! This was so magical + whimsical + action-filled from the get-go. The world-building is a lot up front but the plot starts and ends so strong. Every character is so wonderfully and uniquely written. To the very last line, I adored Tetra + Jayvin.

And I know the story is written akin to dnd, Legend of Zelda, which I totally see- but a little Twilight nerd in me kept envisioning Riley as Jayvin, Jayvin as Riley. You’ll have to read it and tell me if I’m right!

Overall, I couldn’t recommend Sunshine’s Syndicate enough. This was so good!

I absolutely loved this book. I love how the FMC Tetra grew from being a shy girl to becoming stronger and more opinionated. I was a little concerned at first with there being mermaids, vampires, orcs and goblins all in one book, but they all worked well with each other and really made the story. The way events unfolded throughout the book flowed so well and make it very easy to follow the story line. I think I fell more and more in love with Jayvin throughout each chapter. Highly recommend!

OMG, this book was SO good!!!
I got off to a slow start due to a bit of a book hangover from the one I read before this one, but once Jayvin was introduced I was hooked and didn’t want to put it down. Once I got to that point I finished it within 24 hours.
The story was so good and had some great characters, as well as wonderful lessons.
I highly recommend reading this book and can’t wait to explore more from this author.

4.75 ☆ rounded to 5.

Firstly, my many thanks to the author for the chance to read this as an ARC! It was a fun read and I'd definitely recommend it and looking forward to picking up a physical copy to add to my shelves.

I loved this book! The band of such different characters was a lot of fun! I loved their banter and the found family dynamic so much. I especially loved how Tetra starts out rather shy but grows stronger over the course of the book. And let's not forget Jayvin -- he stole my heart from the very first page he appeared on. I loved the trauma/mental health rep. The world and magic felt unique. I loved that even though they are technically trapped in a shielded city on the edge of the ocean, it didn't feel small. There's lots of action and I loved the heist and final conflict with the emporer.

So why is it not a perfect 5 stars? I felt like the beginning was a bit too easy with Loach just readily agreeing to help Tetra. Actually all of the initial friendships between the different characters felt a bit too easy and like instant acceptance. I would've much preferred if these built more slowly because it would have felt a bit more realistic to me, especially because some of this band were criminal sorts -- you'd think there would be more mistrust regardless of how honest Tetra is. A lot of the situations they found themselves in also felt a bit too easy and it distracted me a couple times.

Overall though, this was such a fun and rather quick read that I can forgive the small things that bothered me.

ARC review::

The best way to describe the vibes of this book is reading about going on a longer quest in World of Warcraft that contains a bunch of side quests along the way. The fantasy- diversity was very interesting. The main character being a mermaid essentially was incredibly refreshing. I enjoyed that she wasn’t some bad ass assassin and actually didn’t know how to utilize any kind of physical weapon. Overall the story was fun to read, all of the different side characters added to my enjoyment.

Mental health rep 🤌🏻

A mermaid, vampire, goblin, orc, and a kraken walk into a bar.....

What a whirlwind of a story. This was a breath of fresh air. The love story between a mermaid and a vampire was not on my 2024 bingo card, but here I am. I had the time of my life being able to read this title before its release date and I appreciate getting the ARC from the author.

This book was unexpectedly refreshing and way better that I thought it would. The amount of fantasy races seemed way over the top, but B. made it work in a great way. I started reading slowly but after like 5 chapters, it was impossible to put it down. I was initially not a fan of Tetra, I felt bad for how innocent she seemed, and that might be my only gripe. Innocent Tetra seems at odds with some history we learn almost at the end of the book. Apart from that, I'll say I enjoyed her character development and the slow burn almost killed me. My favorite characters were probably Jayvin and Sayzar (lol). Boot was probably third and would have loved to know more of all the questions that he never answered. Jayvin is my new addition to my book husbandos, the way his character was written was amazing: like what I expect vampires should be written, but with the PTSD tinge that made him unique. Hear me out: Sayzar won my heart in a dark way 💕🤣

I do need to say that the panic attack scenes were really well written. Also, fair to note the spice level on this one is like 1/5 meaning fade to black scenes. This is most definitely more a cozy fantasy with romance on it.

There's a lot of lore I need to know. Please more books 🙏🏻

When I first seen this book the very first thing that pulled me in was the beautiful cover of this book! The Second thing that peaked my interest was the diverse cast of characters you have Mermaids, Krakens, Elves, Vampires and so much more! That honestly had me going ok I have got to read this one! And let me tell you it absolutely worked so well together! Not only did Brittany create such unique characters she also created a whole unique world! Her world building is top notch there was never a time that I was confused or bored. This story flows so well. Not gonna lie there was times I was in my feelings and I had to tell myself not to cry. Was I nail biting at almost the end of the book? I sure was! I was so invested in this story that at times I was talking out loud going you got this Tetra! Brittany didn’t just create such a great world with so amazing characters she also built such great friendships in this book. I honestly found other characters in this book very intriguing. I would honestly recommend this book if you’re looking for a Fantasy Book with High Stakes, Found Family, and Forbidden Love!

WOW! Sunshine’s Syndicate caught my eyes by chance from the teasers online and I wanted to dive in. A story about a vampire offspring, merfolk, orcs, goblins, elves, and the “little guys” fighting to take back their world from ruinous hands and tyranny.

What a read. I adore the sweet and more closed door romance in this after reading a lot of spice lately, and the way the friendships develop among Tetra’s motley crew is heartfelt and amazingly well written. Fantasy worlds are difficult enough to pull off without intricate magic systems, multiple races, and multiple distinct main characters but somehow Brittany pulled all that off marvelously and it is a genuinely amazing read from start to finish. Well done. And to anyone debating reading this, DO IT!! You won’t regret this novel for a second.

This was the first book by this author that I have ever read. I enjoyed the storyline. I couldn’t wait to see what the characters were going to get into next and how everything was going to end up. It seemed to move along quickly for the most part. Some sections did feel slightly repetitive but didn’t affect the overall flow too much. I came across the occasional editing error or missing word but wasn’t pulled out of the world being built. Overall, I would recommend this book for anyone looking for a lovely found family with revenge-ish intentions and just a sprinkling of romance. I will certainly look forward to more from this author.

Wow! If you like fantasy you will like this. The FMC Tetra is someone I feel like a lot of people will connect with. I loved the growth she had in the book. The MMC Jayvin is a vampire who has a lot of struggles but came a long way as the book went on! I absolutely love the found family and all of the banter between all of the characters! It is hard to say I have favorites when everyone was such a big impact on the story and it wouldn't have been the same without each of them! I will never be able to hear sunshine and not think about this book! I highly recommend this to anyone who likes fantasy! Thank you Brittany for allowing me to be an ARC reader!! It was so good!!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️½ (4.5 stars)

When I saw the ARC signup for Sunshine Syndicate, featuring merfolk, orcs, goblins, elves, vampires, and more, I didn’t even have to think twice. I literally said, "Heck yes! I need to read this!" And let me tell you, it did not disappoint. This book is a magical whirlwind of fantasy that kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish.

From the very first page, I was swept into a world that is as whimsical as it is dangerous. Brittany Tucker has created a unique and vibrant universe that blends mythological creatures in a way that feels fresh and exciting. The diverse cast of characters—each with their own backstory, motivations, and quirks—feels like a true found family. I especially loved how Tetra, the mermaid protagonist, is not your typical hero. She’s flawed, complex, and deeply driven by a need to redeem herself, making her journey all the more compelling.

The dynamic between the team is so well done. There’s a gruff Kraken arms dealer, a sharp Orc spy, a brilliant Goblin jeweler, and an unpredictable Vampire spawn. The banter between them is perfection—witty, heartfelt, and often hilarious—but it’s the emotional depth that makes their bond so meaningful. Despite their differences, they come together to fight for a cause bigger than themselves, and their growth throughout the story is so satisfying.

What really stood out to me was the pacing. This isn’t just a heist story—it’s an all-out race against time to stop an emperor’s genocidal plan. Tucker does a fantastic job of building tension, throwing in twists and turns, and keeping you hooked on every page. The stakes feel high, and the action is intense, but there’s also room for quieter, more intimate moments that give the story real heart.

The worldbuilding is another standout. I felt like I was diving into a world rich with history and culture—where the Merfolk, Orcs, Elves, and other creatures are more than just archetypes, but integral parts of a larger, complex society. It’s a world full of politics, betrayal, and redemption, and I could easily see myself returning to it for more adventures.

Sunshine Syndicate is a masterclass in mixing whimsy with stakes, humor with tragedy, and misfits with heroes. It’s a story about redemption, rebellion, and finding your family in the most unlikely places. If you’re a fan of complex fantasy worlds and diverse, lovable characters, I highly recommend giving this one a read. I can't wait to see where Brittany Tucker takes us next.

Is there anything more powerful than freedom and the power of choice? Even in today's world, we witness just how fickle both of these concepts may be. And in fantasy worlds? The stakes get even higher...

Sunshine's Syndicate shows us the power of freedom and choice. It invites us into a world where freedom is taken for some and freely offered to others. Where those in power live in opulence while others suffer. Where one man sits above all the others.

It is in this world that Tetra, a Merfolk, will embark on a daring heist that will change the path of her life. But she won't be alone. She may have felt alone and lost for a long time, but the tides have slowly been turning. The road she is on will allow her to find her perfectly imperfect chosen family. One that will stand by one another, fight for one another, and endlessly tease one another. One that will face immense dangers in their quest. One that will continuously rise above the horrors they are surrounded by. One that will never stop. They may have all joined the heist driven by different motives, but what ultimately brought them together was the need for a better, more just tomorrow.

Tetra may be the binding glue, but each member of the crew is equally important. Each of them carrying their own past and their own memories. My heart is beating for them all, but there is one for whom my heart skips a bit, and that is Jayvin.

Jayvin, a vampire offspring, was sealed in a tomb for more than a hundred years. Deemed a traitor and a criminal, and yet from the beginning you keep wondering if he is one. Is he a traitor, or is he a tortured soul whose choices were stripped away?

My soul ached, and tears kept streaming from the moment he appeared. From the moment he began questioning whether his freedom was real or a powerful illusion. Each time he traced circles on his skin or began hyperventilating, a part of my soul broke anew. It broke for a man whose only crime was wanting more: more freedom, more knowledge, more choice. It kept breaking while simultaneously mending every time Tetra told him it was real and true. These two and their connection were simply otherworldly, and I feel honored to be their witness.

Sunshine's Syndicate is more than a heist, more than a thrilling adventure, more than a love story. It is an ode to freedom and the power of choice. It is liberating and powerful, emotional and devastatingly beautiful. It is healing.

I absolutely love finding new to me authors that pull me into their writing, making me excited to read more of them. Brittany Tucker is just this type of author. When I first saw this book marketed, I was struck by the stunning cover! I mean it’s gorgeous. But as I watched her share more and more information, I was drawn into the world she was creating. With a diverse cast of fantasy creatures, I was interested to see how she would make them all work in the same world. She surpassed all my expectations; her writing is strong, lyrical almost, and her talent for world building is amazing!

Tetra was an FMC that I thoroughly enjoyed reading and watching develop throughout this book. Her journey had her meeting all sorts of characters that added to the story beautifully. As she discovered the inner strength she possesses, she broke free of the shy shell that encased her and definitely became a “hear me roar” heroine. Her growing into her own strengths also allowed her to help others find their own courage and ability to face hardships.

Jayvin was a fun MMC that his growth throughout the book was astounding. He is a vampire that struggles a lot, but as he journeyed with Tetra, he began to release some of his inner turmoil. He allowed himself to lean on others for support, understanding it is not a weakness. He struggles with a broken mind, but Brittany writes of his healing so beautifully, it is wonderful to see him start to heal.

The details, big and small, that Brittany puts into this book and builds the world in which we get to read about is comparable to authors who have been doing this for a while. I was enchanted by the magical world she was able to create, holding so many magical creatures that lived together, and it made sense. I hope to see more of this world and the characters that stole my heart. Wonderful job Brittany and I cant’ wait to see what you write next.

As always, review any author notes before reading.

Okay I had to process this because that ending left me wondering what was planned and what was luck and what was planned but by others that just sort of all interworked together... But perhaps that is part of the story's charm because the elaborate scheme was just that and it was indeed a wild ride. As for the characters ...

What a motely crew! Vampires and sea beings, and orcs, elves, and others--oh my!

To start, Tetra was absolute sunshine! I loved her moral code and her antics and how genuine she was with everyone around her. I appreciated getting the full view of her past along with her thoughts and actions. I really didn't want her story to end and would've enjoyed more merfolk interaction and lore. Next is Loach who was such an interesting character, his humorous antics outweighed his bursts of annoyance and anger, making me want to know more about his past. As for Boots, 100% wanted to sit done and have a long chat with him about his history. The stories he could tell, and all those secrets he must keep. Then there is Agatha, who was just what I would hope for when it came to a strong feminine character that had unbreakable family ties and loyalty. And lastly, but certainly not actually last, Jayvin. Be still my heart. I wanted to hold this guy so many times through his pain and then jump around as he came out of his shell. He has a long way to go but I'm confident he will get there.

This was such a fun read for me and I got thoroughly swept up into the story.

*ARC review*

Dive into a daring, high-stakes adventure with a misfit crew who just might be the unlikeliest heroes the seas have ever seen! When Tetra, a rogue Mermaid with more guilt than scales, realizes she must go to unimaginable lengths to unite her scattered, conquered people, she hatches a plan so insane even the fiercest of rebels wouldn't dare.

But this isn't just any quest—she's aiming to steal back their fallen Mer-king's body right from under the nose of the elven tyrant who crushed her kin. And to pull it off, she needs a team as wild as her dreams. Cue the Kraken with arms as big as his grudges, an Orc spy who's always one step ahead, a Goblin with a knack for gems and gadgets, and a Vampire spawn with a broken mind that somehow matches her fractured heart. It’s a crew as chaotic as they come, bound by nothing but the thrill of rebellion and a shared love for danger.

Yet, just as they're about to take on their audacious heist, the emperor cranks up his ruthless propaganda, turning every hand against them. With every twist, Tetra finds herself teetering between her team’s unwavering loyalty and her own haunting regrets. Will she be able to rally her misfit family of rebels before her people are swept away in a tide of prejudice and destruction?

Get ready for epic twists, deep-sea battles, and emotional currents that pack a punch. If you’re a fan of heists, mythical mayhem, and morally gray characters who are too stubborn to quit, this is one unforgettable ride you won’t want to miss!

This story features an assortment of unique and interesting characters. The mythological creatures are mixed with some unique characteristics that the author gave that i havent seen before. In a nutshell it's a fantasy heist novel with enjoyable characters that you want to root for.

Plot points with some potential spoilers:
Tetra is merfolk and her people and their land is being imprisoned by a ruthless emperor. After being drafted by the emperor's army to aid in fighting the few remaining sects of resistant merpeople, Tetra decides she has to do something. She decides to go to the surface and steal the carcass of the fallen merking from the emperor to return him home and hopefully finally incite her people to stand up against the emperor.

To trigger her plan, Tetra forms an unlikely crew that includes a kraken, a goblin, an orc, and a half human/ half elf vampire. The book does well to give you enough information about the characters to make you feel invested without taking too much away from the main story.

The ending is what makes it 4 stars for me. It just felt a bit rushed and anticlimactic. All this build up to take down the emperor and it feels like the final battle was too quick and a bit too easy. Also, the twists felt a bit obvious too me, especially the emperor being very aware of her identity the whole time and setting her up. The fact that know one else was suspicious when after 2 meetings he was inviting her into his palace felt weird.

Overall, an enjoyable, entertaining, and good read.

Sunshine's Syndicate was like a breath of fresh air for me! Do you ever get sick of perfect heroines? Perfect hero's? No flaws in sight? I do. Tetra and Jayvin are perfectly imperfect. They both have their flaws and their insecurities. This story kept me entertained all the way through. Some books have their highs and lows but this was interesting through the end. I mean you do kind of figure that everything will work itself out but you're not sure exactly how and what exactly is going to happen between our favorite characters. It felt cozy to me and reading it made me happy.

What a fantastical journey this book turned out to be! The pages brimmed with an array of fantasy creatures, yet, rather than tipping into the realm of the overly whimsical, each addition felt vibrant and thoughtfully crafted, infusing a sense of wonder throughout. Tetra’s innocent optimism was absolutely heartwarming, and watching her blossom into a character of courage and self-discovery was incredibly rewarding.

The camaraderie that formed between the different creatures was equally endearing. Their banter brought a sense of warmth and levity, making me smile and even laugh along with the lighter moments. I truly felt like I was part of their world, swept up in the joy and the friendships they shared.

My only initial reservation was with Jayvin’s introduction. For someone portrayed as so feared and powerful, I was surprised by Tetra’s immediate ease around him. His entry into the story was perhaps a bit smoother than I anticipated given his reputation. Nevertheless, his character complexity added depth—his flaws and the lasting scars of his past made him feel genuine and relatable.

The romance was tender, though I found myself wishing for a bit more! Fade-to-black moments left me wanting, but they did add a layer of anticipation.

In all, this was a wonderful read that left me deeply connected to each character. I’m hopeful that Tetra’s story will continue, as I’m not quite ready to say goodbye to this enchanting world.

This was such an interesting YA Romantasy with a heist.

After being drafted in the upcoming war, Tetra gathered people to help steal bones and bring them back where they belong. I loved her character. She came from this shy and timid mermaid who got by to this fierce and loyal mermaid that isn’t afraid to stand up for what she believes. By the end, she was a firecracker and I loved it.

Along her journey she met the famous Jayvin, who is a vampire. He is freaking crazy😂 but in a good way. The way he went from being locked up for centuries and not knowing anyone to standing up for his friends and the love of his like was remarkable and fun to read.

Tetra and Jayvin’s love is definitely interesting. A mermaid and a vampire bonding is most definitely forbidden. They are total opposites but they make it work.

I admit the first half of this book was a little bit slow for me, but once it picked up, I highly enjoyed it. My favorite part of this book was seeing all the different creatures coming together with a common goal—to destroy the current king. You have a mermaid, a vampire, a goblin, an orc, and a kraken. It was so cool to see them work together and even become somewhat like family.

First of all, if there isn't a Sunshine's Syndicate Book 2 on the way, I'm gonna get REAL ornery!

Sharks I loved this story. Tetra has one goal - to bring the body of her dead king back to his people, where it belongs. In so doing, Tetra hopes it will be just the push his son needs to rise up against Emperor Sayzar Ameliatus - his father's murderer. To achieve her goal, Tetra attracts an unlikely team - each with their own secret motives for helping. If they can learn to trust each other, they might just succeed!
The story is fast paced, with twists and turns I never saw coming. Each character is developed slowly and naturally, which I appreciate. Rather than trying to sum up the whole of each character as soon as they are introduced, details are provided as needed, making the growing friendships and relationships more believable.
When the team frees the last member of their team - a possibly homicidal, lunatic Vampire Offspring who has been imprisoned for over 100 years - what could possibly go wrong? You'll have to read to find out. Trust me, you won't be disappointed!

This is the third book I’ve read by Brittany Tucker, and somehow each one outdoes the last. Her writing just keeps getting better and better ✨📚
Tetra, our FMC, is a mermaid scavenger 🧜‍♀️ on a mission to make amends, and from the very beginning, her journey pulls you in 🌊💙. Along the way, she assembles the most delightfully chaotic ragtag crew—a kraken 🐙, a goblin 🧝‍♂️, and an orc 💪—and their banter and friendships are laugh-out-loud hilarious 😂🤍. I never wanted to put the book down just because of their interactions alone.

And then there’s Jayvin 😮‍💨🖤. The vampire MMC 🧛‍♂️ who is absolutely drenched in trauma, darkness, and quiet intensity. The way he calls Tetra “Sunshine”? 🥹💔 Instant heart-flutter. The teasing 😏, the yearning 🔥, the tension between them is top tier. I truly didn’t think anyone could top how much I loved Cam and Annie from the Revenant series… but Jayvin and Tetra might have done it 😭❤️.

This book has everything: rich world-building 🌍✨, deep character backstories 📖, incredible found family 🤝💞, and one of the coolest magic systems I’ve read in a long time 🔮⚡️. Please drop whatever you’re doing and read this immediately ⏰📚💨

“I felt safe. He made me feel safe, both inside and out. I wasn't sure if I should tell him that, but at that moment, having him here made me happier than all the rocks and treasures I'd ever owned.”

With DnD & Little Mermaid vibes this YA story took my breath away!

As Tetra, a Mermaid scavenger, begins a journey in hopes to right a wrong from her past. Not only is this for her but also her people, the Merfolk. If she succeeds this will encourage her people to fight back from the Elven Emperor who took everything from her. Gathering a team of others who each have their own squabbles with the Emperor they might just get the job done. Or will they?

Each character was wonderful! I loved Tetra’s courage to push through her inactions from her past to right the future. Agatha had me cackling! Jayvin was just ADORABLE, and a little murdery 😂. The patience Tetra had with Jayvin 🥰 The way Jayvin adored Tetra 🥵
The story is fade to black/closed door. The balance between their mission and the romance was perfect!!!

I was kindly gifted this book by the author, and it is honestly one of my favorite books that I've read this year. It reminded me of DnD and encompassed Baldur's Gate, which is one of my favorite games to date. It had all the action-packed goodness that I was looking for, and Tetra and Jayvin are such a cute couple.

I loved that Jayvin fell in love with Tetra on the spot and spent the entire book learning about mer-people so that he could connect with her on another level. I also loved the diversity of the characters in the book. You've got Krakens, Mermaids, Orcs, Goblins, Vampires, and Elves. It made for a really fun read, and I loved the friendships that were formed from their adventure. The aspect that salt is needed for mer-people to be able to walk on land and shift was also really neat. I've never really seen anything like that in a fantasy before.

I appreciated that the MMC was shown as being a little more vulnerable due to his past and that he found that he was able to both give and receive love after not being given the option for either in the past. Tetra and Jayvin sacrificed so much for each other and did it out of pure love for each other, and that really, truly showed throughout the entirety of the book after we meet him for the first time. Tetra, I feel like she experienced a lot of growth and learned that she wasn't alone in the world after all. It was overall really wholesome.

Honestly, I could not have loved this book more. I'm very excited to read more of Brittany's writing in the future!

Sunshine’s Syndicate by Brittany Tucker is a total five-star read for me. It gave me, The Little Mermaid for adults vibes—in the absolute best way—moody, romantic, and a little dangerous. 🧜‍♀️✨

What really stood out from the FMC, Tetra, was seeing her evolution—from innocent and trusting to stronger, wiser, and more self-aware. It was wonderful to read! Not to mention the MMC is absolutely swoon worthy. He’s dark and broody 🤤🥵

The chemistry, the tension, and the emotional depth between the FMC and MMC made it impossible to put this book down. It’s dark, seductive, and beautifully written, with characters that linger in your mind. It had me tracing circles just to remind myself that this amazing story was real. 😉

If you love adult fairy-tale vibes, morally gray characters, and a story that pulls you under and doesn’t let go, this one is a must-read. 📖💫

I got this book as an advanced readers copy and this is my review. I loved this book, it is easily in the list of my top reads this year. I loved the character development and how much I began to care about the characters as they revealed more about themselves. The book was a great pace and wasn't overly descriptive but gave a good mental image. This is also a very sweet book. The relationships between characters made my heart melt and the dialogue and banter was perfection. The mythical creatures the author included also have been reimagined a bit and have characteristics that most stories about them do not have and it is so incredibly clever and interesting. It wasn't the same ole thing just with different names. It was a very intriguing story and I certainly recommend!

“And maybe that’s enough for now. That you see me, and I see you? "

As a Legend of Zelda girlie with a weird fascination for vampires growing up, this book could genuinely have been written for me personally. I loved every single second of this book, devouring it over only three sittings. I loved all the characters, each one had such a strong personality and their little found family was so heartwarming.
The villain was well written and the way the final 'battle' plays out is strong and keeps you captivated the entire time
My only gripe would be that all the friendships/relationships developed very quickly, I would have preferred a slightly slower, more natural growth, but honestly that doesn't really bother me and may be more of a personal preference. Especially as each of those relationships are so well done, the FMC having a different sort of vibe and friendship with each person.
Overall, Jayvin has been added to my list of book boyfriends and I can not wait until the next one

Thank you so much to the author for sending me the arc
