A book that provides a summary of the Arab-Israeli conflict from 1948 until the end of the 20th century. When explaining the roots of the conflict prior to the 1948 war, the authors seemed a little biased to the israeli historical point of view. Besides, having two authors, an Egyptian and an israeli (the Egyptian co-author's name _Jihan el Tahri_ is not posted) does not mean that the book is credible and unbiased, for Egypt was no longer involved in the Arab israeli conflict after the mid 1970s. Although a number of important events during this period are not mentioned (such as the events on the Syrian front during the 1973 war and the israeli-jordanian peace negotiations leading to signing the peace treaty in 1994) this book is recommended for those interested in the history of the Middle East.
A book which accompanies the BBC series of the same name, it goes into some depth where the show can unfortunately only gloss over. Having said that the book at times does not go deep enough into events or peoples involved. A very good over view of the complex relationship between the Israelis and the Arab States of the region, I do suggest that this book is used as an entry read into the subject matter.
