I really liked this version, because it is one of the few books that depicts the wise men arriving, not at the stable, but at the house where Mary and Josephe were staying, and showing that Jesus is a toddler rather than a new-born baby. The watercolor and pencil paintings are also very nice.
Finally, a true Christmas story that is biblically accurate: no snow (Jesus was probably born in the fall), and the wise men come to a house when Jesus is an older baby (not a newborn in the manger).
Simple, kid-friendly language and details - omits some of the peripheral aspects (e.g., Joseph considering divorce and the wise men going to Herod) while remaining historically accurate (wise men arrive to a house when Jesus is a toddler).
I like that Jesus is not depicted as a baby when the wise men arrive. I didn't care for the illustrations, done in watercolour and pencil - they seemed drab.
