Beast Be Gone #2

Beast Be Gone, Undead Don't Die

Rejoin the disgruntled Eric, his apprentice Rose, their goblin friend Squee and Xenixala who-has-too-many-names-to-list-here in the sequel to the fantasy comedy book Beast Be Gone.

A strange plague spreads across the land. Suddenly the dead can walk again - worse, they can run, and only Eric and his friends at Beast Be Gone pest control have their shoes tied up tight enough to take them on.

Can they re-dead the dead before ending up dead themselves?

Meanwhile, Xenixala, the witch, is on the hunt for both power and reconciliation. So naturally, she must become a vampire. Even if that means hanging out with mopy sorts who only wear black, amongst other things. Will she learn to live without a soul? Will she master bat echo-location?

Somebody wants a world full of the undead, but why...?

Terry Pratchett meets Ghostbusters in an RPG world.

Beast Be Gone is a cosy fantasy comedy series that explores the stories of the underdogs of fantasy tales, sometimes known as NPCs. They're normal folk just wanting to go to the shops without getting stabbed by a sneaky guy in a cape who got bored of hunting goblins.

A must-read for anyone who loves Dungeons & Dragons, RPG's and online games (although you'll never be able to play them again without feeling bad for the men who have to clear up the mess you left behind in dungeons).

Suitable for adults, YA and teens. Available in Kindle, ebook and paperback.

About the author

A.L. Billington

Who is A L Billington? Some say he is just a myth, a phantom, a whisper on the lips of a kindly gentleman. Or maybe he’s just some bloke with access to a word processor and too much time on his hands. Who calls them word processors these days anyway? Turns out A L Billington is old enough to use the term ‘word processor’, yet only ironically, which should tell you exactly how old he is. He’s also the one writing this bit, so it’s very strange that it’s in the third person.
In case you were wondering, the ‘A’ stands for Arthur, and the ‘L’ stands for a secret that he’ll never tell you unless you get him drunk at an awkward party.

Anyway, you all have access to your own word processors, so you can look him up using the magic of the internet. He’s the cheeky chap who set up ‘Billington Publishing’ (in case you hadn’t made that connection based on the narcissistic naming), therefore you can find his updates at billingtonpublishing.com.

I thoroughly enjoyed a trip back to the world of Beast Be Gone. Like with the first book, the author perfectly mixes silliness, high adventure and great characters. He manages to make pitch perfect observations of fantasy tropes while still being loving of the genre. I highly recommend this and the first book for anyone who likes gentle escapism, a magical mystery and a bit of a giggle. Ps a ‘droop of vampires’ must be accepted as the official collective term!

Proof that the sequel can surpass the original.

A return to a great cast with some new additions and a clean plot that has a satisfying ending. This book shows progression for not only the characters and the setting but the author's abilities too.

I don't want to spoil any story elements but this is a fantastic extension to the setting and I look forward to reading more.

I very much enjoyed the second adventure with our Goblin hero and his human friend, Eric. I recommend reading this fun romp through hell and back, complete with vampires, zombies, and even a necromancer.

it was good to go back to this world, not quite as good as the first, a couple of jokes that felt over done, but still enjoyable

Immediately started this after finishing the first book. Was another great read. Reoccurring characters coming back. Slightly shorter than the original

A worthy follow-up. It offers more of the same, and although it doesn't provide anything new, it is still extremely satisfying. I am looking forward to the next one.
