This was another great story from Allie Pleiter. Full of wonderful characters, adorable puppies, a gorgeous setting, and a swoony romance, I was hooked!
Grant is exactly the kind of lovable grump that I enjoy reading about. And Meg is exactly the type of sunshine that he needed. Meg's kids were adorable. I loved how they brought out the softer side of Grant. And I loved seeing Meg's generosity despite having her own problems.
I thought the Three Sisters Rescue Farm was such a cool idea. I loved reading about all of the puppies, especially Daisy. I'm so glad this is the start of a new series. I can't wait to visit the farm again! If you're looking for an inspiring and heartfelt romance, grab a copy of this book. I highly recommend it.
I received a copy of this book and voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and comments are my honest opinion.
I couldn’t put this book down! I read it in one sitting and absolutely loved it. It’s the perfect mix of enemies to friends to lovers and grumpy vs sunshine, and the story was so heartwarming.
Meg is a widow with two young daughters, struggling to make ends meet. She lives next door to Cay, who, along with her sisters, plans to open a Rescue Farm on the property. While Meg isn’t technically family, she cares deeply for Cay and her sisters, everyone except for Grant. When Grant walks into her diner, the tension between them is instant. He wants Cay to sell the land, while Meg is determined to support her plans for the farm. Grant is in town to convince his mom to sell and has been forced to take time off from work due to some career issues. With Meg and Cay living so close to one another, Meg and Grant find themselves spending a lot of time together. Though they seem like complete opposites, they begin to open up to each other, despite the fact that it’s not a good idea. He’s leaving soon, and Meg has made it clear that someone like him is too risky for her. She lost her first husband to a dangerous job, and she’s not willing to go through that again. So, they try to fight their feelings, both agreeing it can’t be anything more. But is anything impossible with God?
Will Cay and her sisters manage to open the Rescue Farm? Can Meg find a way to stay afloat financially? Will Grant ever figure things out with his career? And could there be a chance for him and Meg after all? You’ll have to read to find out, but I can already tell that this Rescue Farm series is going to be incredible. I’m so excited for Carly’s story next!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. This review reflects my honest opinion.
Temporarily exiled from his job due to subordination, Grant Emerson is planning to use his time helping his mother sell the family farm. However, his mother has other plans, which frustrates Grant. Former classmate Meg Kettering steps in to assist. Widowed with two daughters, Meg has certainly caught Grant’s attention.
This delightful story is a quick read, although there’s not much backstory about Grant’s job and the reasons behind his problems. One of the book’s charms is the litter of puppies that have just been born. Then there are Meg’s two adorable daughters. Everything comes together in this heartwarming love story.
Many thanks to Love Inspired and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.
"Rescue on the Farm" is a quick, easy read -- and though the premise is about a litter of rescued puppies, it's a clever play on words as to who is actually rescuing whom. Pleiter does a great job with giving readers sassy side characters and painting a picture of the quintessential Hallmark movie-style small town setting. The story itself felt predictable, and I wish more attention had been paid to Grant's backstory. It lurks on nearly every page, but the build-up feels anticlimactic as though there needed to be a reason for him to be in this small town, but the reason itself wasn't the plot-point conflict it was made out to be. There are themes of Christianity and faith frequently interspersed, but not so much to be off-putting to someone who picks this up not realizing it has religious motifs.
Thank you to the author for sharing an e-ARC to read and review!
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It is uplifting, inspirational and very interesting. If you love puppies, you'll absolutely love this book. Will single mom, Meg be able to convince her girls they don't need every puppy in the shelter run by Police Officer Grant's (on temporary leave) mother. Grant is also single and thinks his mom needs to sell the farm. Will Grant and Meg be able to put their differences aside and open their hearts to love? The book is full of funny & cute puppy antics and kids. Who can resist that combination and throw in some romance between a single widow with 2 adorable little girls and puppies? The story will keep you interested especially if like me you love kids and animals!
This is my honest opinion of this book. This was received as a complimentary copy.
Cute puppies. Cute town. Cute romance. What more could you ask for in a book? I love the way the characters grow in faith and more throughout the story as well as the bit of suspense. A great read!
Y’all, I grinned all the way through Rescue on the Farm by Allie Pleiter (even when I was swooning too). It’s just so endearing and adorable and sweet, truly enjoyable from beginning to end. Don’t mistake that to mean that everything is all sunshine for the characters, though. No, on the contrary, they deal with real pain and real worries just like we do, but as I’ve come to expect from a Pleiter romance, even in the authenticity of ‘real life’ she infuses their story with hope and grace. A needed reminder that we have the same lifelines available to us in the midst of our own struggles.
Widowed single mom Meg has a lot on her plate – raising her two little girls, running her diner, and trying to keep her head above water financially – but that doesn’t stop her from having a big heart and a warm nature. Enter the grumpy-but-lovable-and-giant Grant (think ‘Disney’s Beast’) who is annoyed that Meg encouraged his mom to take in a batch of abandoned puppies… and we have the perfect recipe for romance! Because while Grant might be able to resist Meg’s sunshine (for a while at least), he is absolutely no match for the cuteness of her adorable daughters or those sweet puppies. I loved everything about Grant and Meg’s relationship, yes, but even that pales in comparison to my absolute ADORATION of how her daughters and a puppy on wheels named Daisy broke down all of his grouchy defenses. Oh my goodness, prepare for your own heart to be completely stolen. I know mine was.
Bottom Line: Rescue on the Farm by Allie Pleiter serves up a delightful grumpy-sunshine romance that made my whole heart smile. Not only did I love the swoony romance between Meg & Grant, I also fell head over heels for the other endearing characters, the charming setting, the touching faith themes, and the can’t-lose combination of precocious puppies & precious little girls in this story. There’s even a hint of suspense! Truly something for everyone in this multi-generational story that brims with hope and light and, of course, love. I can’t wait to spend more time on the Three Sisters Rescue Farm as the series continues. Another must-read and heartfelt romance by Allie Pleiter!
(I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book)
I absolutely loved this book from beginning to end. While Grant, aka Mr. Grump, has much to be worked up about, including some mysterious events, his grumpiness is challenged at every turn by Meg, aka Ms. Sunshine, her cute little girls, his own family, and some adorable puppies. This wonderful story had my emotions up and down as I went from upset to pondering to laughing out loud and even swooning.
I loved the great conversations between Meg and Grant, which, although full of banter, were also full of depth and honesty. I also loved the sweet conversations with the girls and their innocent way of looking at things. They were sweet, endearing, and often entertaining. The puppies and Grant's family also added much entertainment to the story.
Author Allie Pleiter's descriptive writing added so much to the story, making me feel everything the characters were going through. The story, which also has a touch of mystery, is full of hope and love. It also has many nuggets of faith which are insightful and thought-provoking. It makes for a great story that should not be missed.
Book Quotes: "I suppose that's why I like these little guys. They had a bad start in life by no fault of their own. But they got their break. It's like God's reminder that good things still happen."
Sadie pondered his earlier remark. "Who do you think comes next on the farm?" Grant had to laugh. "I'm not sure I want to think about that." ... "I have," Sadie countered. "I think it should be goats. The little kind that jump around." And eat everything in sight, Grant added in his mind. "Grandma Cay says whoever is next is whoever God sends." ... Sadie clapped her hands together in the classic child prayer pose. "Okay, I'm gonna pray God sends goats." I'm gonna pray God takes His time.
This book is short and sweet. Exactly what I’ve come to expect from a Harlequin Love Inspired romance. Grant and Meg are likable characters, thrown together by proximity, when Grant returns to his Mom's farm, where Meg is their next door neighbor.
And then there are the puppies his mom has taken in, stealing the show. And who doesn’t love puppies?
I was intrigued by Meg’s approach to generosity as an antidote to feelings of scarcity and deprivation. I felt the fundraiser made an interesting subplot.
And I was amused by the matchmaking attempts of Grant’s mom and aunts and Meg’s young daughters alike.
The resolution of Grant's backstory and dilemma at work felt a bit rushed, but then it was full speed ahead to happily ever after. And who doesn't love a good happily ever after? Recommended for fans of sweet romance.
Thank you to the publisher for providing an Advance Reader Copy of this book via NetGalley.
The story is very well written and the characters are outstanding. And of course I fell in love with the 🐶. Hope you will read it and enjoy it. I’m look forward to the next book in this series
This book was a sweet, heartwarming read. Allie Pleiter does an amazing job of developing the characters and the challenges they face while interweaving faith and hope into the story.
Grant Emerson, a hardened law enforcement officer, comes to High Mountain, Montana to visit his mom. And to get away from issues at his job. He gets more than he bargains for when Meg Kittering and her young daughters show up to help with the puppies that were rescued from behind Meg's diner.
Meg Kittering has faced many challenges recently. She is a widowed mother of two young daughters now. And she determined to have hope and help how she can. When a litter of puppies show up behind her diner, her life changes in unexpected ways.
The Three Sisters Rescue Farm run by Cay, Grant's Mom, and her two sisters provide a new home for the puppies. The children and the puppies steal many scenes throughout the story.
It is a heartwarming story with challenges, hope, and faith expertly woven together.
This is the first book I have read in this series and I have been asking myself why? Written with such love and understanding, Rescue on the Farm will make you laugh, cry and everything in between. I am eager to back and read all of the series now and get ready for the next book!
Loved Meg and Grant's story!! Grant meets Meg when he leaves Billings for his home town. He first accuses Meg of "giving" his mom puppies that are now on his family's farm. Meg sets him straight, and Grant comes to realize that there's no way he's going to be able to talk his mom and two aunts out of turning his family's farm into a rescue shelter for any and all types of animals. He also isn't counting on falling for Meg's two little girls, Tabitha and Sadie, and even the puppies! Meg isn't really open to finding love again, not after her husband left her with a pile of debt, and certainly not with another man who likes to take risks that will put him in danger. Her heart doesn't seem to be getting the message her head is trying to send, though. Even better, though, is that Grant revives is relationship with God.
I received a complimentary copy of this book, wasn't required to leave a review, and the opinion expressed is my own.
Puppies!! And, little girls!!! And a grumpy cop. And a sunshiny diner owner next door.
On leave from the Billings police department, Grant Emerson is not a happy man. He's even less happy to discover that his mother has turned the family farm into an animal rescue, starting with a litter of puppies someone dumped in the alley behind the town diner. Doing his best to convince her she's too old for this nonsense, he comes up against his mom's neighbor, Meg Kettering, who owns the diner. When both of his mom's sisters add their two cents, Grant is outnumbered. Then, Meg's girls, Tabitha and Sadie, start to work their magic on his heart - they want to fix his 'broken smile.' Can Grant hold out when his heart wants this to be his family?
Meg lost her husband, test-pilot Andy, in a training accident. She has closed off her heart to any man who works a dangerous profession, so she sees Grant as off-limits. She wants someone safe, but her girls have fallen for Grant. Can she keep her heart locked away from a man who loves her girls, and her, so very well?
What a sweet story! If the puppies don't get you, the innocence of the little girls will! I loved how their observations were spot on, even though they often had no idea what they were pointing out was news to the adults.
Readers who enjoy sweet romance with just a dash of uncertainty, will enjoy Rescue on the Farm. Allie Pleiter is a favorite author of mine, so I knew I would enjoy this.
This adorable book is filled with heartwarming and swoony moments, inspiration, hope, sweetness and precious puppies! I was pulled into the story from the first page. Loved the storyline about an animal rescue and a grumpy/sunshine romance. I enjoyed how the author built up the relationship between Meg and Grant. Such wonderful writing. It's an easy read with the perfect amount of heart, sweetness and romance. So worth the read!.
This was such a joy to read. The little girls playing with the rescued puppies. Meeting their neighbor's son, Grant. Their mother and Grant falling for each other and hoping they can keep one of the puppies.
Rescue on the Farm was a sweet story of a widow & her two daughters, along with their grumpy semi next door neighbor. The little girls & puppies will have you laughing, while watching the adults fall in love. The ending seemed rushed, like we were missing too many pieces to the story. But overall, it was cute & fun!
Rescue on the Farm by Allie Pleiter is the new K-9 Companions book. Billings polo officer come home to talk his Mom into selling the family farm. Meg and her two daughters live next door. Meg runs the local diner. Greg is convinced his mom and aunts cannot make an animal sanctuary work. Two girls and some adorable puppies try to change his mind. I was able to read this thanks to NetGalley.
This heartwarming romance blends enemies-to-lovers and grumpy-sunshine dynamics in a compelling small-town setting. Meg, a widowed mother struggling to make ends meet, clashes with Grant, who wants his sister Cay to sell their family land instead of turning it into a Rescue Farm. Despite their differences, Meg and Grant are constantly thrown together, leading to a reluctant but undeniable attraction.
Meg is wary of falling for someone with a high-risk career after losing her first husband, and Grant is only in town temporarily. As they fight their growing feelings, they must decide if love is worth the risk. With heartfelt moments and strong themes of faith and family, this is an engaging start to the Rescue Farm series.
RESCUE ON THE FARM is a charming inspirational romance. Meg Kittering is a young widow with two adorable little girls who owns the Sundial Diner. She relies heavily on hard work and her faith in God to get her through life. Next door, Cay Emerson is planning to turn her farm into an animal rescue shelter. Grant, her visiting son, is not pleased with this notion and wants Meg to know it. One of Meg's daughters decides that "his smile is broken," and they need to figure out a way to fix it. Grant is worried about his mother and aunts taking on a project that he thinks is too much for them. But he's even more concerned about the bigger problems he left behind at work. As they get to know each other, Meg and Grant become friends. He helps her find ways out of her financial difficulties. She helps him to restore his faith in God. With some push from his mother and aunts and the girls, the two begin to fall in love. The characters are fun and the story is fast-paced. If you love puppies and little girls, you'll love this romance. I was given a copy of this book from the author to give my honest review.
Such an uplifting and heartwarming story of second chances! This grumpy/sunshine tale featured two wounded souls who were struggling for very different reasons. Widow Meg Kittering attempted to keep her finances afloat in order to support her two daughters while Grant Emerson had difficult issues at his job. Meg had held fast to her faith while Grant had walked away and it was compelling to read how Meg’s optimistic personality and beliefs came to have a positive influence on Grant while Grant’s steady and protective nature made an impact on Meg. The little girls are so sweet and then there are the puppies with an adorability factor that is off the charts! Loved how the puppies were influential in helping their humans have a more promising outlook. Looking forward to reading the upcoming books in this series revolving around the Three Sisters Rescue Farm.
I received a complimentary copy from the author as part of a giveaway. A positive review was not required and these are my own and honest opinions.
Rescue on the Farm by Allie Pleiter, narrated by Britta Cole. It is the 30 book in her K-9 companion series. This is my first book I have read by this author and it won’t be the last. Grumpy Police Officer Grant Emerson has come home to try to convince his mom to sell the farm. His mom is turning the farm into a rescue for animals and right now she has rescued these adorable puppies and has it in her head to set him up with her single neighbor Meg. Meg likes to bring her kids over to play with the puppies. Relatable characters, sweet romance, lovable children and puppies makes this a wonderful read. I liked the narration . You could distinguish between the characters but when she did the whining kids voice it was like nails on the chalkboard. Thank you to #NetGalley and # Harlequin Audio for this Arc. This is my honest review.
A huge thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read an ARC of this title!
I really enjoyed reading Grant and Meg's story, especially their transformations, discovery and trust of faith, and the importance family values. While I wish there weren't quite so many gaps about Grant's career as a Billings police officer, I know that wasn't really essential for the book's story line, but certainly could have added to it. The ending was sweet and definitely well deserved.
If someone is looking for an easy read and a clean romance, this would be included with titles I'd consider suggesting. You'll find a large "teddy bear", adorable puppies, and darling little girls to also be very appealing aspects of the book.
Grant Emerson is sent on a “vacation” when he lost his temper and punches a hole in his police sergeant’s office. He came home to High Mountain, Montana to sale his mother’s farm, but she has other ideas. She and her sisters are going to open the Three Sisters Rescue Farm. Meg Kittering is a young widow with two little girls that lives neighbors to Cay Emerson. She is trouble with Grant, because she gave his mother a litter of puppies found behind her diner. Allie Pleiter writes a heartwarming story full of laugh out loud moments and a solemn moment or two. Where two little girls Fix the really big man’s broken smile. Where the runt in the litter of pups get wheels to help it get around. How much coffee will it take to change Grant from Mr Grumpy?
No one is surprised that beagle puppies on a cover will suck me in every time. This was a quick and enjoyable read. While I sometimes find faith-based books hard to get through these days, the message of faith in God amidst suffering and the need for justice really hit home considering our world right now. I really connected with Meg’s inability to ask for help too.
Thank you to Harlequin and NetGalley for provided this ARC for my honest review!
