In ancient Israel, during the time of the Judges, a dark age has descended. The men of the twelve Hebrew tribes have abandoned their God, and have failed to stand against their enemies for years.
Warlords rule the countryside, preventing safe travel, and the mighty empire of the Philistines seeks to control the homeland of Abraham's descendants.
A farmer named Shamgar learns that an army of Philistines is invading the valley where he lives peacefully with his family. As they approach, determined to destroy everything in their path, Shamgar must try to convince a frightened population to stand with him in the last place the Philistines can be a mountain pass known as the Boundary of Blood.
“In the days of Shamgar son of Anath...the highways were abandoned; travelers took to winding paths. Villagers in Israel would not fight...” JUDGES 5:6-7
Cliff Graham is back and this book did not disappoint! I have been a big fan of his for a while now and have read all of his original works multiple times and they remain some of favorites to this day. The Boundary of Blood was a short read but that was intentional. Shamgar is relatable as all men have failed at multiple points in their lives and made poor decisions. All men struggle with leading their families as they are called to and setting the example of what a man should be to their sons and daughters. Shamgar also shows the struggle with faith and doubt, but also that we can rely on God to keep His word.
Again this was a great read and I am truly excited for the rest of Cliff Graham’s works and can’t wait for them to be released. Thank you, Cliff, for not giving up on your gift, and thank you, Kavod Family Ministries, for partnering with Cliff to get his projects out to the world.
A great read as always. Not as good as the Lion series, but a read that is entertaining. The author does a wonderful job in mixing poetry style and masculine features.
Read the original screenplay and comic, this is incredible in the way you’ve increased the story and feeling. One verse in the Bible takes on a life of its own. Can’t wait for other books in the Lion of War series. Thanks so much for what you do and what He has gifted you with.
Great flow. Engaging from the beginning. Short easy chapters that keep you reading. You can finish this book quickly and the fight avenged scenes are really detailed. The story it's so good.
Probably more like a 3.5 - not as good as his other books but still a quick engaging read. Glad Cliff Graham is back and look forward to his future publications!
Outstanding fictional rendering of the story of Shamgar from Judges. Well written and provided, although fictional, and interesting take on that character from Scripture.
