She's angry that her life has been a lie. He's furious about his mother’s death. And a traitor is still on the loose. Now’s not the time for guilt. Now’s the time for revenge.
Natalya can't believe she's one of them—a Creseairian. She needs to adapt to their culture and master her Prodigies, but the latter proves to be a problem when she learns that she can't use them. It grows into an even more dire issue when she's assigned to rule over the city of Menteral. Once there, suspicious events lead Natalya to question her parents’ death. She must discover the truth of their murders and unlock her Prodigies in order to fulfill her heritage.
Kasimir is once again sucked into solving a dangerous mystery that determines if Creseair thrives or dies. He's determined to hunt down the traitor and bring them to justice, but he hits several roadblocks. New responsibilities are placed on his shoulders, one of which results in a tragic curse if he fails to fulfill it.
Kasimir and Natalya are determined to complete their separate but crucial agendas. But when a mysterious enchanted artifact hunter suddenly appears at the palace, everything they thought they knew crumbles to ash.
Secrets about Creseair and the realm viciously surface—secrets more deadly than Natalya and Kasimir can imagine. They must uncover the deception shrouding them to stop the traitor, or Glazzer will break free from his chains and life as they know it will perish.
Berlyn Hayes is an American author who loves reading and writing YA books, particularly in the fantasy and dystopian genres. She learned Spanish while living in Boston, Massachusetts for a year and a half and was a two-time state power tumbling champion before receiving four major knee surgeries. During the time she spent relearning to walk, she began drafting "Heirs of Secrets". When she's not spending time with her amazing husband and hilarious family, she's fantasizing about vacationing at the beach.
Did I stay up until 12:30 AM to finish this? Yes, but you only live once 😂 Honestly, I think this book was even better than the first one. It was a very entertaining fantasy novel and I can't wait to see what else comes from the series! I enjoyed this and would recommend it :)
Okay, I may be biased since I wrote this book, but I'm really excited for you guys to read it! A lot goes down in Prodigy of Revenge—there's more action, the plot is even faster-paced, the mysteries & secrets are fiercer than ever—but through it all, I hope you enjoy it🫶
And yes—it's 100% clean. There's no explicit content or language, aside from kissing.
Thanks for supporting a small author like me! I truly appreciate you all from the bottom of my heart!!❤️
Holy crap! Just when you think the story can't get any better, Hayes drops this phenomenal sequel!
The book starts out right where the first one ended. Natalya and Kasimir have some major character development that adds more depth to the story. Natalya discovers more about who she really is and how to cope with her new role. Kasimir is bombarded with new responsibilities and has to find a way to navigate these unexpected events. Together, they work through the mysteries surrounding Natalya's past, who the betrayer in their midst is, and how they must stop the rise of Glazzer when so many obstacles stand in their way.
I loved all the new things added to further expand the world building. New magical objects are introduced along with mythical creatures. The action was written so well I felt like I was watching the fight scenes play out. The romance takes a turn in this book due to unforseen circumstances. They both have to fight for each other. Overall, 5/5 ⭐️! The book kept me captivated and intrigued the whole time.
Action 5/5⭐️ Romance 5/5⭐️ Stoey line 5/5⭐️ Cliffhanger/Plot Twists 5/5⭐️
Okay so I'm gonna need all of you to go read this series this is the second book so you can start with Heir of Secrets and mmmmm that book!! I can't heir of Secrets is most definitely one of the best if not the best books I have ever read. So hehe please do me a favor and go read Berlyn Hayes books cause she truly truly deserves more recognition for having such great writing. Definitely one of my favorite authors now. She's great with pacing and building up the plot and the world. 🤌 Chef's kiss. I'm sorry but how is this book not as known 😭 😭 😭 like how's icebreaker more popular than this??? No offense to that author but like Berlyn Hayes is very talented with her writing guys. Okay enough of that now let's actually get on to the review of this book and my thoughts hehe.
Also no spice!! Just a sweet ole budding romance with two MC's I absolutely adore 😭 🫶
Also the cover art is just perfect!!! ✨
Also spoilers ahead ⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️
For starters This book was SOOOO gooood!! I definitely think that I enjoyed the first one more and that's probably because of Kazimir and Ceralya I think that's how you spell it 🫣 but I think it's because I got more of them in book one and we got less of them in book two and why because of freaking Devery. imma be honest I have mixed feelings about Devery sometimes I like him sometimes I don't. He's a good character but I personally feel like he was abusing Ceralyas emotions and personally I think he's getting the people there using their emotions to make them like her which is why they had a look of fear on their faces that one time. Overally he's a good character and I would like to see more of him and see if him and Ceralya ACTAULLY get married... I'm really hoping they don't cause Kazimir he's just perfect for her.
I'm excited to see more from Kazimir and Ceralya and their budding romance to the way they care so much about each other like awwhh just melts my heart. Also umm Kazimir he kinda got attachment issues with Ceralya loll but yessss!!! It's an amazingly beautiful written book and I adore this author and her work. I will be reading everything she writes and I know the books are only gonna get better from here. I wish I didn't have to wait a couple of months for the third book but alas I do. It'll all be worth it though😊
Also I just wanted to mention her I don't remember what there called but at the beginning of the book pretty much every author writes one and she wrote it for her son 😭 😭 like that's just so sweet!! Also Berlyn your writing inspirez me to maybe possibly write someday and publish a book keep writing like you do!!!
this was my most anticipated read of the year and it did not disappoint!
from the moment i picked up the book i could NOT put it down. i literally cannot remember a dull moment in this book, as soon as one adventure ended, another one began. it did NOT feel like 400+ pages and is easily one of the fastest books i’ve ever read.
gods, i love the characters in this book. syl really shone in this one a lot more than the first one, coming through with his humor. i love just absolutely love enze so much and how much he cares about ceralya. and of course, kasimir. he has the best quotes and i just adore his character.
THE RED COVER!!! it just ties perfectly into the plot and everything with ceralya. i have so many questions but also so many answers to all the questions caused by the first book. the sheer amount of times i had to put down this book before my heart was drumming so fast is unparalleled.
the romance took a step back in this book. i was expecting more and was a little disappointed when certain events occurred. the pining was perfect, though. i do hate love triangles, however, so i hope it doesn’t lead to that. it felt like ceralya and kasimir had two very different stories going on, and they did, but they also tied together in a nice way.
i will be anxiously awaiting the third book especially after the ending. gods, that cliffhanger of an ending literally had me desperately flipping the page only to turn to the acknowledgements!!
Epic Book 2!!! Loved the plot, the continued character development, the twists - loved all of it. I really enjoyed that the plot continued beyond the love story. It had depth and purpose beyond containing the MFC and MMC. Can't wait to see Book 3!
Finished this gem last night. 5 stars largely for the plot twists towards the end. My jaw DROPPED! They were CHEF’S KISS!!!! Berlyn has an incredible way of writing and is an amazing author and deserves more recognition for her work. That ending…..I NEED THE NEXT ONE RIGHT NOW!!!! I love Kasimir and Ceralya so much but I am mad at both of them 😅.
Berlyn did it again. This book is the perfect sequel to Heirs of Secrets. I was gripped from the beginning and rushed for the end, even as I'm sad that I have to wait for the next book. Please don't sleep on this book.
It's clean, it's fast paced, it's romantic, it's AMAZING.
OH MY GOODNESS! The plot twists… I was not prepared. I am going to crazy now for the release of the third one!! The wait is going to kill me! I AM OBSESSED WITH THE CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT! These two books alone deserve ABOVE a five start rating. I am so in love with this series ❤️❤️
This book was amazing, I love the action and as someone with ADHD this book was able to keep my attention and not give away any plot twists. The angsty romance was beautiful. The cliffhanger at the end was literally perfection. I can’t wait for the next book of this series. Berlyn is definitely one of my newest favorite authors.

Wow. This book just was so amazing! The action, adventure and romance in this story was just top notch! I cried, laughed, and stared in shock multiple times. I kept needing to know more. So I was able to read almost all of it in one day. It kept me up late at night and when I put it away, my mind would wander back to the book, wanting to read more so I could figure out everything. I would get frustrated or irritated when something happened that I didn't want to happen. But, it all worked out. The cliff hanger has me wanting to read what happens next. I want to reread it again just so I can experience the thrill of action. And the plot twist was something I didn't expect. The ending also took me by surprise. I need the next book soon so I can see what is next for all of the characters.
Yup... I knew it... this is officially my new favorite series! The mystery continues in the second book, giving me just enough answers for things to start clicking in place, but not enough to let me put the book down. While the first book focused on world-building (all the way down to the fruit they ate), this book was rich with the history of the realm. I have a whole new list of questions, and I still have my suspicions of certain characters. I'm starting book three right away to find out! I waited to read this one until closer to book three's release. I'll be taking notes this time because I felt like I was forgetting important details from the first book!
This book made me so happy, like the first it was completely clean and full of action. Berlyn took me for a ride and left me on the edge of my seat!! Can’t wait for book 3!!!!
A great sequel to Heirs of Secrets!! The author managed to create an even more enthralling tale, with more deception, more intrigue and more unanswered questions!
Ceralya is still coming to grips with the fact that she has been lied to her entire life. She is searching for her place in this new world and her new role as a Chalamet. She is constantly in danger as her life is continuously threatened. Ceralya and Kasimir are both struggling with their emotions and their respective obligations to the kingdom. The search for resolution is becoming increasingly complicated as they pursue the Red Herring and the Harvester. They find themselves questioning everyone and everything around them. Everyone is a suspect and every motive is questioned.
There are many questions remaining to be answered. Who else has taken an oath and will be the next to betray the kingdom? Will Ceralya and Kasimir be allowed to continue their relationship, or will they be forced to perform their duties and severe their emotional ties to each other? How long will the enchantment surrounding Blackscar hold and when will Glazzer and the monsters be set free?
We get some answers in the final pages, but we’ll have to wait for others as we are left with another cliffhanger.
I am excited to read the next sequel in this saga. This is a thoroughly entertaining and imaginative story!
Wow!! Usually when I read a series that starts out enemies to lovers, the first book is the best and then they just kind of go down hill from there. But this book was not just as good, but better than the first one in my opinion. There was so much action and excitement that I was entertained from the first chapter. What makes it even more exciting is the fact that there's actually a plot, unlike most fantasy books these days. Not to mention there's lots of questions that keep you guessing the whole time so you're not bored. It's also nice because the characters are actually likeable, even the FMC. She's not annoying and petty like so many other FMCs. And of course, Kasimir is just so lit.
I also like that it's a CLEAN book, so you don't have to worry about spice scenes that seem to be in every single book now days. Overall, I loved this book and will definitely read it again.
SO MUCH BETTER. This is what I yearn for in a fantasy. The issues I had with the underdeveloped world were fixed in this series. There were complex dynamics between characters, the plot was well-paced, and woven together so well. There were some predictable factors, as is to be expected, but this book was infinitely better than the first book and made me so excited for book 3. This author is good with a dramatic ending and giving you a cliff hanger, let me tell you!
