One thing I've always loved about Marvel comics is how layered their villains are. I know that hasn't always been the way, but I was lucky enough to first discover comics when Emma Frost -- still my favorite leading female to this day -- was beginning her redemption arc, during the Phalanx Covenant. Shortly after the Phalanx, we had the Age of Apocalypse, where we were introduced to a heroic version of Victor Creed. I have been in love with his character ever since!!

I know I'm not the only one, and we've been treated to a few other 'verses with a good Creed (X-Men Forever is definitely another I'd recommend). However, the main 616 'verse has remained almost irredeemable... until now. This, FINALLY, is the back story that many of us fans have waited for, and there's a certain moment at the end that rather cinches everything together quite nicely and will leave most, if not all, Creed fans with a knowing smile on their faces. Definitely one of my favorite limited series EVER!!!

With Sabretooth being very much dead somewhat recently in the comics, I was at first sceptical of this miniseries, luckily it’s not in the present so that’s a positive, this first issue though was very well written, had some good dialogue and honestly was pretty heavy on the gore, I am surprised Marvel didn’t throw this in a Polybag and add the Red Band label to this, it doesn’t bother me, but it’s worth mentioning. Art is real nice, consistent throughout. Of course Wolverine makes an appearance as well as a few other familiar faces, this issue closes with a bit of a cliffhanger so I’m excited to at least get issue two.
