Siderov Bratva #1

Vengeful Proposal

Rate this book
What’s the most embarrassing thing you can do at the airport?
Try accidentally stealing a sinfully gorgeous stranger’s bag at the carousel.

A stranger who also happens to be a dangerous bratva boss.

It doesn’t take him long to track me down.
And from the knowing smile on his face when I open the door...
I know he saw everything I packed for my best friend’s bachelorette party.

From the dresses to the heels to the scandalously tiny swim suit.

I thought that was the end of our little mix-up.
Until I learned that he bought me a table at the club.
With one expensive bottle of champagne after another.
And a very personalized note addressed to me.

What am I supposed to do?
Not say thank you?
Not take up his offer of an unforgettable night?

I wish I can say that this is where my story with Konstantin Siderov ends.
But that’s before I cross paths with him for a third time…

This time, he’s no longer promising me an unforgettable night.
This time, he tells me what I’m going to do

Leave with him.
Get on his plane.
Be his wife.

Vengeful Proposal is Book 1 of the Siderov Bratva duet. This is NOT a standalone. The story concludes in Book 2 - Vengeful Promises.

This book contains scenes and topics that may be disturbing to some readers.

Unfortunately, this book just got really stupid about 75% in. You first have to overlook the grammatical errors, but once you get past all that, the story was actually becoming okay.

Up until they got married, that is. Then it went downhill fast.

Their sisters are oddly connected, but they don't go into how because they're too busy having so much sex that they never talk about it. We also don't talk about how she was expelled from college for covering for her ex-boyfriend. And she was just a-okay with this. And what is wrong with the evil grandma and why doesn't Emily say anything about it? Also I'm not really into the whole calling your wife/granddaughter-in-law a slut or a whore. Really not my thing. Konstatin should have stood up to grandma dearest.

The first 75% was maybe 3 stars. The rest was awful.

2.0 rating - Sensationalism vs., sadism

It's really too bad this book went down the preverbal rabbit hole from entertaining to just "No". The beginning of this story had merit until it didn't and started to deteriorate. There is plenty of push and pull between Emily and Konstantin initially that is entertaining. Our characters had no communication skills other than sex which turned this story into a book that was full of lies, distraction and deceit. Their arrangement/attraction begins as a slow burn and then literally flies off the chart into unchartered territory that leads the reader to the end of book where sex and torture is the component the author uses to produce sensationalism. Medieval torture chambers or any kind of sexual torture is not something I enjoy reading. It's one thing to use those places in theses aged castles as forms of punishment or methods used to get information from your enemies, but you certainly don't take a woman you supposedly have feelings for to a place reaped with death, violence and torture. The blurb in the front of the book should have been more forth coming as to the triggers/dialogue used and the content because I wouldn't have borrowed it. The saving grace in all of this was that I didn't buy this book, but read it through KU.

There are important gaps in the beginning of the book that the author chose not to address or chose to address it at a much later point in this duet such as: why was Konstantin at Emily's dead sister's apartment when trying to find his abducted sister and why wasn't Emily the least bit concerned of him being at her sister's apartment. (A great example of this couple's lack of communication). Why wasn't Konstantin more involved in saving his sister once he got a video of her being held hostage? The timeframe feels off in this book. Time moves very slowly with the actual events taking place seem to be moving much quicker. Konstantin leaves Emily with his vile psychotic monster (his grandmother) and expects everything to go smoothly while he is gone. Really?

I skimmed the book after I hit 45 -50% because the story/characters took a very deep dive into a repetitive sadistic and misogynist theme that destroyed the crux of the story which was actually good and could have been a solid story. I am not sure why the author chose to turn Konstantin's character into a sadistic monster and the heroine into a filthy whore (his words, not mine). I've read my share of very dark novels in this genre with very dark characters but when the author needs to ramp up a novel that clearly can hold it's own plot/storyline without completely destroying the MFC both mentally, physically and sexually in the book, ruins it for me.

Some of the most sensational and erotic books I've read in this genre didn't include BDSM or sexual torture. Sex is a component of love but sex alone is just sex. It how the author is able to use their words, feels and descriptions that make those books stand out and memorable. Once a story goes off the rails it's difficult to right the ship. Even fiction has to have some believability. It's never the same for me as a reader unless I am reading fantasy. Yes there can be forgiveness, but can a person ever really trust that person again? Konstantin blew up that possibility by books' end. I guess he and grandma are more similar than either the witch or he thinks.

Reading is all about personal choice and what we enjoy about a story which include the characters, plot and the how the author chooses to display their writing. Some readers apparently like this type of humiliation and complete degradation of the main female character and that's fine.

I actually hoped that Emily would have put a bullet right between the grandma's beady eyes, as she spewed out her vile words, but no luck as she was still alive by books' end. No doubt the author will try and spin the story into a love story filled with regret, promises, a surprise pregnancy (ugh) and give our couple a happy ending, but honestly for me as a reader of this genre, has becomes a very hard sell in 2024.

DNF at 48%. I think I finally realized what I don't like about Bratva when I like Italian Mafia so much. It's the heroines. Bratva h's seem to always be "A Bitch without a Cause" I could only take so much of the FMC's childish petty behavior before I was over it. It's not fiery or feisty or whatever bullshit it's supposed to be, it's just straight annoying. Some people like bratty heroines, I do not.

Started off pretty decent, was intrigued how the story was going to play out.
Wish some things would have been written differently but it’s not my story to write.
Enjoyed the plot.

DNF. Got to 54% and then kind of gave up. It wasn't a throw the book moment. It was more of the realization that I had better stuff to do with my time. Reading other reviews, I could see it wasn't going to get better.

Emily is annoying, plain, and simple. She vacillates between a poor, small town, sheltered, nieve girl who is constantly taken advantage of and overlooked and an obnoxious, lewd, brat. Obviously, I expected sex scenes. It's why I started the book. But she talks about "dripping" while riding horses with Konstantin, and nothing sexual is even happening. She willingly goes with a stranger to his house in a foreign country, almost willingly gets kidnapped, goes along with a fake marriage, but then acts shocked about other smaller things. She brats out for no reason and tries/fails to compete with Konstantin at the weirdest times.

She is definitely the girl I'd hope would get punched in the face by another girl for her nonsense. Her character just makes no sense at all. All the facets don't fit. The pick-me is so strong. I would never be friends with her. She's a perpetual victim, idiot, selfish, childish, and obnoxious. Konstantin is as deep as a teaspoon so far...so no loss there.

I hadn't even gotten to the apparent bitch grandma, torture, or other shit sub plots yet...so no, I'm done. The story isn't good enough to keep me reading.

My KU free-trial subscription ended and the book was taken away! But honestly, I hated it and had begun to skim, so I’m calling it a DNF. I have no desire to pick up where I left off.

I hate the characters, and the storyline seems weird to me. So definitely not something I’d like to continue reading…

This book could have been 5 stars if not for the heavy descriptions of everything and some seriously cheesy dialogue. It was like one big word salad.

The story picks up fairly quickly and I love how supportive Nadia was even though the weekend was supposed to be about her. The initial hang out is played out really well to set the story for both characters.

I think it’s possible the parents had something to do with Olivia’s death? Since they seem so money hungry they might have sold her out? But then a part of me thinks she might not even be dead. Very curious what the link is with Olivia and Alisa. For being the head of the bratva I feel like Konstantin does know much about what’s going on in his world. His sister is gone for several weeks and he can’t find her, or he goes to Italy seemingly alone for this meeting to smooth things over but then takes out 30 fully armed dudes with just some grenades, a machine gun, and his best friend?

Konstantin flounders between being really likable and then immediately not. I feel like he came around to liking her and wanting to actually be with her too quickly considering he was adamant he couldn’t love. I didn’t love that they were just kept separated once they got to his castle. It didn’t make much sense if they were trying to make it work but yet they just didn’t see each other, talk, or have meals together?

Alla is by far one of the worst characters I’ve come across in a book. Her villainy knows no bounds. Yikes. Her needles?! No thank you, I would have run too.

The spice is for sure spicing with plenty of dirty talk. For sure one of the dirtier books I’ve read.

Brook Wilder returns with another Bratva romance, this one as sweet and heartwarming as can be.

Emily Sullivan is your average girl, on a bachelorette trip in Italy where she bumps into Konstantin Siderov, a charming and respectful gentleman. After a mixup with their suitcases, they end up spending an evening together only to lose contact with each other before anything serious happens. When their worlds collide again, they find themselves eloping in a deal to gain their respective goals. But fighting their attraction for one another isn’t easy and they fall in love.

Honestly, the biggest flaw in Emily is her being the biggest people pleaser. In the beginning, Emily is seen running from the aftermath of being a pushover and has the lowest self worth. Even after getting married, everyone (not including Konstantin of course) is so bent on trying to make Emily feel inferior that she questions her own emotions and position in his life. It’s just so sad to see and I constantly just wanted to give her a hug.

Konstantin on the other hand was a welcomed surprise. He was a true gentleman, a family man who cared about his sister (enough to even sport a Hello Kitty luggage tag, even as a Bratva man!), and loved Emily deeply. It is so clear from the get go that he would do anything for Emily and fell head over heels for her. Seeing him juggle his feelings for Emily but also balancing his role as Pakhan was clearly a challenge but one that I never truly doubted him with.

It’s the classic he fell first, she fell harder. Their chemistry was sizzling and the emotions ran so high in this duet. I hated Grandma Alla with all my heart and constantly wanted to smack her, Nadia was such a sweetheart, and hearing about the couple’s respective sisters just showcased how these two lovely people loved their siblings so much.

I look forward to seeing how this duet ends cause the cliffhanger was INTENSE and am rooting for Konstantin and Emily’s happily ever after!

I really enjoyed this exciting start to Emily and Konstantin's romance. I liked how they met and the intertwining story there. I loved the settings and how descriptive they were. They sounded like beautiful places!

First off I loved that Emily was going to vet school. She came off as really sweet but a huge pushover. I really wanted her to stand up for herself more. She was a bit naive but that's not surprising when she was thrust into a life she knew nothing about. I liked that she was starting to get a backbone and stand up for herself by the end of the book.

I really adored Konstantin. I loved that he was so upfront with himself about how much he needed Emily. How devoted he was and how protective he became. He was so sweet and caring yet ruthless when he needed to be.

I loved all the action and suspense. I was glued to the pages and didn't want it to stop. That ending had me gasping so I'm glad I get to dive right in to the next book because I'm on the edge of my seat and need to know how this all plays out and if certain folks get what's coming to them. It was a very descriptive and well written story and I would recommend it!

A very intriguing, enticing and entertaining mafia romance!! I really enjoyed getting lost into the first book in the Siderov Bratva duet.
Konstantin and Emily’s story is so enthralling, passionate and suspenseful.
An accidental meeting at the airport turns into a whirlwind of events. These characters are interesting, inviting and their storyline is very fascinating.
Konstantin and Emily’s chemistry is off the charts and their connection is heart-gripping.
Konstantin needs to take over the Bratva from his grandmother but to do so he must marry. As for Emily she wants to know what truly happened to her sister and Konstantin has promised to help her in return for a marriage of convenience. Together these two face many challenges but the most formidable is Konstantin’s nasty and controlling grandmother.
If you’re looking for a captivating, enticing and steamy book to escape into you will be delighted with Vengeful Proposal.
I can’t wait to see how Konstantin and Emily weather through their feelings for each and the obstacles they face to reach their HEA,
Remarkably written!!

Mafia boss who isn't actually the boss
No aftercare
Degradation

I didn't hate it, but it wasn't my favorite in the Mafia romance genre.  Mafia romance was my gateway into dark romance.  While I absolutely loved the plot and pacing in the first part, and the chemistry between the characters was excellent, it kinda fell apart for my around the 50% mark.  Honestly...your wedding gets shot up, and 60 people are dead, and you decide you want to spend a week screwing your wife, while your sister is also still being held captive by an enemy faction?  Your gma is a b*tch but she might be right that you aren't fit to lead. This whole book was the FMC letting everyone in her life walk all over her, and the MMC being manipulated by his GMA and having 0 urgency to save his sister.

Honestly... After reading so many good Mafia themed books this was a dissapoitment and I really had high hopes cause I like the Italy part.. But no slowburn whatsoever, no real story. How Emily just said "okay, lets go with this stranger and marry him" ??? Hellooooo he just killed a man in the app of your dead sister who btw you just found out was killed..??? I was hoping something more Vet school/ex boyfriend part, like maybe collecting the rest of the stuff where she lived before??? Like what? A lot of things make ZERO sense.. Sometimes I wonder what some writers think when writing stories like this. It rarely happens that I cannot finish a book, but i just couldn't finish the second one. Another dissapoitment, even worse than the first one..

Sorry to say that those who gave 5 stars just didn't find a good book to read yet....

The first thing I want to say is I loved Emily! I really enjoyed her spirit and how she knew exactly what to do to get Konstantin going! But I equally loved how he reacted to her stunts- especially at the engagement photo shoot! There were a couple moments that had me laughing. But nothing, and I mean nothing compared to hot these two were together- they were explosive!
This book sucked me in instantly and I couldn’t put it down. The ending has me excited to dive into book 2 because I have so many questions regarding Emily’s sister. And I’m anxiously looking forward to seeing Alla get exactly what she deserves. She’s nothing but an evil b**ch. onto book 2!!

I picked this up on KU. It’s a train wreck. There needs to be some trigger warnings, because this one may hit all of them. Kidnapping, forced proximity, torture, sadism, humiliation, and the list could go on.
The biggest flaw about this story is the huge number of plot holes. Sisters, parents, ex-boyfriend, college expulsion, evil grandmother, etc.
I'm not really into the whole calling your wife/granddaughter-in-law a slut or a whore, but like the train wreck it is I just may have to download book 2, after that massive cliffhanger, just to see how the story ends. That’s the only reason it gets 3 stars, otherwise it’s basically a sh*t show.

This is a good book although it ends on with a cliffhanger. Emily meets Konstantin at the baggage claim. She winds up taking his bag by mistake as they have the same Hello Kitty tags on their bags that were given by their sisters. After seeing Konstantin again at a club that she was at for her friends bachelorette party things start to heat up. Unfortunately, Emily has to leave and go to NY when she learns her sister died. Their paths cross yet again in NY as Konstantin searches for his kidnapped sister. Follow Konstantin and Emily on their journey.

Book 1 in the siderov bratva.

When Emily arrived on the Amalfi coast for her best friend’s bachelorette party she didn’t expect her life to change and her ending up married to a Russian bratva boss.

A fast paced page turning rollercoaster of a book that had me reaching for book 2 straight away.
I’m loving the story between Emily and Konstantine and am desperately hoping Alla will get her comeuppance what an evil grandmother to have.

Vengeful Proposal

I’m giving this book a 3.5 starts total. This is the first book that I read by this author and it was okay so far. I thought it was a bit slow and didn’t really understand how the fact that Emily went to America after her sister was found dead and then Konstantin found her, her sister’s death didn’t come back up until their wedding night. I’m going to read book 2 in hopes that it moves a bit smoother than book 1.

Awesome

Emily made mistakes that she couldn't change. She had parents who had no real love for her or her sister.
She was the bride's maid for her best made. Their celebration was in Italy where she met Konstantine. Forcing her to his country for his own agenda. The story takes you through many turns. He was not a dumb man, except during the last three chapters.

Mixed feelings on this one... I read to the end, and immediately downloaded book 2, but I can't shake the feeling that this book was a little disappointing. I loved the characters but struggled with their actions a little. I wanted Emily to be stronger and Konstantin's behaviour never quite matched up with how he claimed to feel...
Intrigued to see how book 2 goes.a

Idk I’ve never been a fan of insta love so it’s ok
The grandma being a bitch was funny but the Konstantin was kinda annoyed for not seeing what she was doing to Emily

Also Emily was kinda annoying. I really only read it to hope it ended but it was a cliffhanger

Very dark and kinda twisted. The action and plot are pretty good. It's a change to have a vicious Grandmother in the mix. The typos are a bit frustrating, and the romance is a bit, um, convenient. Otherwise, a good page turner.

This one was intense. So much more so than the last series I read by this author. I'm unsure how this is all going to work out. I feel for Emily and hope she finds her way out of the mess she's found herself in. And I hope she grows a freaking backbone too.

Good Read!

The book had a good plot and was very spicy!! However, for me, I do not like it when men demoralize women during sex. But other than that, this is a really good read!
