Features a flavorful compendium of homemade frozen desserts, offers step-by-step instructions on how to use every type of ice cream machine on the market and includes tempting recipes for ice cream, gelato, and sorbet treats.
I just bought my husband an ice cream machine - I checked this book out from the library, and the recipes look easy and sound yummy. We tried the Almost-Instant Banana Ice Cream on page 20 and it is so delicious! I poured half of the mixture in to a freezer ready container, started the machine back up, and then I added strawberries to the other half. This one recipe has convinced me to definitely try others from the book.
Oh, wow. I give you the first sentences of the introduction: "What is America's hands-down absolutely all-time favorite dessert? Ice cream, of course. That pleasing jolt of sweet cold in the mouth, followed by the sensual richness of frozen cream and burst of flavor on the tongue, satisfies in a way few other desserts can." And it only gets better from there. Gelatos (authentic ones, mind you, like gianduja and pistachio), sorbets (like orange and grapefruit and watermelon), rich rich ice creams (like Tahitian Double Vanilla) and a whole slough of frozen desserts. This cookbook is so good I could eat it. Frozen. In a dish. With a long-handled teaspoon.
This has lots of delicious looking and sounding recipes for both ice cream and other related deserts. I can't wait to try some of the recipes. The biggest down side to this book were several recipes that called for liquor.
