Well thanks for the heartbreaks. But if I hadn’t been so invested in these characters since the beginning, it wouldn’t have hurt so much.
The fact that Luka finally finds his place after feeing so lost in the first two books makes me really happy. I’m hoping by book four, Nyx finally gets the rest of his happy ending. My heart keeps breaking for him.
This is the third book in the series and follows Luka and Hazel, one is a “magic less” fae feeling lost and the world and the the other is a Ryder-less dragon, a “dud”. Hazel is a fierce-less dragon and if you were wanting a badass FMC, look no further. Although she can’t take her place in the Kings Army because she hasn’t found her ryder, she proves over and over again she’s unstoppable. It also helps that she’s the weapons trainer and one of the most lethal dragons.
Luka is drawn to Hazel from the start and although he is good, he knows she’s better and has no problem admiring her when she kicks ass. Luka follows his gut as he continues to chase leads from book two that cause him to cross paths with Hazel as they begin to unravel secrets of the twelve kingdoms. Their journey takes them to places they’ve never been, exposing them to dragon eggs, sneaky priests, smuggling, prisoners, and fae we had lost.
The prologue alone set the tone that this book would be an emotional rollercoaster and I was not let down. There has been so much world building leading up to this storyline, it’s all been told so well. It’s been great to be a part of this ryde.
