My Paris and Grayson:

3.5 STARS
"I forget who I am.
Instead, I become who I need to be.
A Toxic Girl."

Paris is bit of a mystery - prefers to keep to herself, trying not to attract much attention. Desire to be invisible, that's one of the reason she had moved to new town, to new college. And what she doesn't need is attractive and popular boy Grayson to be interested in her. Especially with the kind of job she does to pay the debts and bills...

I am glad to say, that this is not usual NA story with characters who has gone true some terrible trauma in their past. Toxic Girl is quick paced story which focuses on relationship between main protagonists and its problems and dramas. Author didn't waste time with too much details or overly descriprive scenes and she always got to the point very quickly. There was not a single boring moment and I liked that a lot.
"It's easy to give in to hate. But sometimes, there is strenght in forgiveness."

However, there was too much over-the-top drama that reminded me of soap-operas. And even though I enjoyed book in general, I was never truly in love with characters. Toxic Girl is quick and not very angsty story that lovers of NA genre will definitely enjoy.

ToxicGirl

Toxic Girl by Chantal Fernando focuses on Paris, an ordinary college working student except she is not. In the daytime, she is a student but at night she is Snow, a stripper at club called Toxic hence she is a Toxic girl. This is not a job that Paris intended for but she has to do what's needed in order to pay off a debt incurred by her sister, London. Paris tries to keep her a job a secret and limits socialization. But all that changes when Grayson Mills walks into her life. How long can Paris keep her life as a Toxic girl a secret?

Grayson and Paris have this instant attraction to one another. But as more secrets and shocking news are revealed..doubts, fears, and jealousy begins to creep into their relationship. Their relationship can only be described as hot and cold. One minute they are all over each other then next thing you know they are fighting. It was like watching a tennis game where the ball is constantly going back and forth. I wouldn't say their relationship is toxic but as a couple they needed to overcome so many things especially when it came to trust.

Overall, Toxic Girl storyline was good but not great. I felt the author was missing incorporating important details and character developments. I wanted to know more of Paris and Grayson especially Grayson's past. The fast development of the storyline was one of the reasons I couldn't connect to the book. It felt a little bit too rushed after one revelations after another so often I find myself getting frustrated with the hero and heroine because one minute they were happy and the next they are back fighting. I was also disappointed in Paris on how easily she forgave Grayson. The rushed timeline and missing character developments prevented me from truly liking this book.

MY RATING: ☆☆☆☆ "TOXIC GIRL" by Chantal Fernando

4 TOXIC SNOW STARS

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Complimentary copy provided by the author "Chantal Fernando" in exchange for an honest review.

Being new to town and starting a New University she reinvents herself as a "Toxic Girl" the only person she's acquainted with is her room mate Anaya, they share a two bedroom apartment..

Not looking where she's going her first day of Uni she collides with a hard chest, a big hand clasps her wrist preventing her from falling on her ass, he has dark brown eyes, twin dimples, and shaggy dark hair with a slightly sexy unshaven look with a rugged appearance, tall, muscled and holy hotness.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

From then on he's everywhere, there is no escaping him!!

"I'll make you a deal," he says softly, you tell me your favorite song, if it's on here, he says pointing to his iPod, "You have to go on a a date with me."

"When I want something, I tend to go for it," he says.

Paris knows she has to stay anonymous, keeping out of the pubic eye, is her only safe option and not drawing attention to herself..

But hanging around with hot stuff "Grayson" isn't helping in any way with her trying to be invisible..

"Growing up, never in my wildest dreams did I think I would ever end up stripping for a living."

Toxic is a well - known strip club , the girls are known to be beautiful, stacked and talented.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

With Paris's long white blond hair, big blue eyes and her double d's it's no wonder they welcomed her with open arms.

Paris is determined not to allow Grayson too close to her because she's worried that as soon as he finds out what she does he will drop her like a ton of bricks.

This relationship is doomed for failure once the truth comes out, the truth can hurt but lies do more damage

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

"No way in hell am I telling him that I'm a stripper, that I take my clothes off to pay my debt and bills."

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

"I'm going to kiss you, Paris, " he says, his dark eyes never leaving mine. His lips move against mine, demanding yet gentle, his fingers tangle in my hair, pulling me closer to him.

As per usual anything from this author I pretty much jump on it!! And yet again I was not disappointed, I really enjoyed this story, well rounded characters, story line kept me turning those pages one after another, anything else from this author I will yet again jump on it!!

Must admit though I did want to really really bitch slap the sister, more times than once!!

Uh. This book was.... alright?
To be honest, I read this book because I couldn't get one of the reviews out of my head and I honestly read this to humour myself. Overall, it was okay.
Grayson was constantly doing stupid shit and apologizing and then Paris would take him back. That literally happened 6 times in this book.
description
The stupid debt shit with London.. I couldn't even comprehend the shit that went down and how could you have such a shitty sister? Same thing with Brody, like .. This fucked up family. Can't even.
description
The story just seemed to go on forever and Grayson and Paris just weren't changing.. It was like the same shit over and over again. Honestly, Chantal isn't really growing on me.

Oh how I loved this book! This is my first taste of Chantal Fernando’s writing and let me tell you, it will not be my last. Toxic Girl is a love story….a love story between Paris and Grayson whose journey is filled with jealousy and secrets but ultimately love.

Paris has a secret….a secret she is not proud of but one she cannot help. Thank God Ms. Fernando did not make me wait too long to find out, yet the beauty of the secret was how it was going to get leaked. I was pretty much glued to my Nook for the outcome and boy, I did not expect the reactions I got!

Grayson Mills is most definitely a new Book Boyfriend! He was charming and hot and very protective of what was his. His pursuit of Paris was sweet and it just made him more endearing to me. Grayson really is the type of man you want to bring home to Mama.

The downfall of their relationship is trust….neither one is very good at it and so many times, I wanted to smack them both. Actually, miscommunication might be the better word. There was so much jealousy between these two because they just didn’t know how to convey their thoughts into words. I appreciated the angst in seeing who would screw up next.

The bit players were all enjoyable too. We have good friends that I fell in love with and Ex’s that I hated. Ms. Fernando wrote them perfectly, not to obtrusive but enough to know where they fit into each character’s life.

I am so glad I was able to join in on the tour and read this book. I fell in love with Paris and Grayson and I am sure everyone who reads them will too. It had a bit of everything I love in a book ~ great characters, some angst and some really hot and steamy scenes! Thanks Ms. Fernando for showing me how sometimes forgiveness is the most important thing you can give to the one you love!

4-4.5 stars. At first glance, it would seem that this story is about Paris and how she has a job that she does at night which she is trying to keep a secret because she wants a fresh start to her life without the judgment or reputation, but there's more to it. She immediately catches the eye of Grayson, who decides he will get to know her no matter what. Paris may be beautiful on the outside and have some very talented dance moves, but she is actually introverted and she works hard in school so that she can someday have a future without needing to depend on her nighttime gig for money. She is doing that job mostly to help her sister out. What I really admired about her was that even though she didn't have much in the way of family support, she was still a very loving and compassionate person, yet also independent. She had the drive and focus to do what she needed to do, even if she hated it (however, she's not doing anything illegal). As the story progresses, Paris and Grayson go through the highs and lows of a relationship where lying, or the omission of truth, only makes things worse. On the flip side, telling the truth may be the right thing to do, but the truth can also hurt quite a bit. Paris and Grayson learn how to navigate through those truths in a committed relationship. Grayson teaches Paris the importance of honest communication while Paris teaches Grayson the power of forgiveness. Neither Paris nor Grayson were perfect but they weren't weak either, and I loved that Grayson never gave up on Paris even though she wanted to give up on him because she was so used to people abandoning her or midjudging her. Grayson surprised me several times, in a positive way, and Paris genuinely deserved everything good that he had to give her.

4 stars!

I love it from the start. I like the writing style and read the novel word for word.

What I hate the most in MOST novels is that the heroine usually compares herself to her friends or bestfriend and not in a good way, they usually point out how beautiful, how tall, how rich, how perfect their friends are compared to them. In this book, that didn't happen.

OMFG! He slept with Paris' sister and thought that Paris was London!! How awful!! And that is the reason why he chased after Paris coz he wanted to be with London! OMFG! If I were in her position, it'll take...months for me to really accept that.

I want to read London's story, I hated her at first but I did like her in the end, esp. the scene where she was soooo proud she was able to buy her own car though it was too old.

----
*Anaya slaps Paul on the back of his head
PauL Ouch! WTH did I do?
Anaya: You didn't ask me if i wanted anything!
Paul: Shit woman, you have hands. I don't have to do everything for you.
Anaya: You could be a gentleman. Try it sometimes and you may get rewarded.
Paul: If I got rewarded any more, my dick would fall off.
---

Paris: Vodka. You want some?
Grey: No thanks, I have to drive.
Paris: You can have a sip.
Grey: I HAVE PRECIOUS CARGO I NEED TO GET HOME SAFELY.

Aww!!! how responsible!!! that's so sweet!

----
Grey: I'm going to be the best father. I promise.
Paris: I know you will.
And I do know it. Because he cares enough to try to be.

My Character Cast

Paris (Snow)

Grayson (Gray)

I really enjoyed this book. It had just the right amount of drama and angst. Paris was a fabulous character I love her strong personality and take no crap attitude.
One thing that annoyed me with the characters was there hot and cold attitude they argued a little to much.
But when they was happy with each other they were so sweet.
The blurb drew me in!
I read this book in a few hours because I literally didn't move from my seat. Because I was always wondering omg what's gonna happen now? Omg Gray how many more times u gonna mess up? How many more times are you gonna forgive him Paris? But then on the other hand I was like..okay enough is enough Paris your being a hypocrite..I means seriously you won't tell him your secret!!! I wanted to smack some sense into both of them. But I loved them at the same time. I love the college style books so I really enjoyed this one.
I really look forward to reading more of this authors books.

WTF was that?
I don't think I would've finished if it wasn't so short. That was like a bad reality tv show, like a real bad one. where drama just kept happening, no build up or proper chemistry between the h & the guy. Just bam, they're in love in the first 20-30PERCENT?
why, oh why did i fall for the cover and the excerpt. i'm sorry author, i like your other books but this was just a let down.
too much drama, too rushed. felt like reading some-one's diary, who stated down the most whackiest things that happened to me.

Short story with a million threads, I don't feel a connection to characters and their history, a lot was happening, but it was a jump from one to another moments. Lacks background of the story.

Extra star for London her character was great but also raised a lot of contradictions.

This was a hard pass for me. The audio narration completely pulled me out of the story… the female narrator doing a “male voice” was distracting to the point of unbearable. Pair that with an FMC I couldn’t stand, and there was just nothing left for me to hold onto.

I wanted to like this, but it was a slog from start to finish. Definitely not for me.

This was an okay book. Overall, I enjoyed the story, but it wasn't the best work I've read by any means.

Paris is the main character and is a pretty guarded girl. She has had a lot of family issues since her parents died. When her sister comes into trouble for owing a guy some money, Paris steps up and takes over her debt, essentially, and ends up becoming a stripper to manage it. She despises her job and tries to lie low to avoid unwanted attention while she tries to make it through school and strip at the same time. After her brother discovers her job, he disowns her, and she moves to Perth to get away. However, on the first day of class she gets noticed by a guy named Grayson. He's attractive and he seems to like her since he keeps flirting and talking with her, even asking her out. Paris denies the attention for a while scared to deal with a boyfriend and her racy job. Once they start dating though, she continues to hide it, despite her guilt, and tries to just quit instead. Of course, this is a romance novel, and fate has other plans for her. Things start to unravel once her secret is revealed and even more drama ensues.

And I'm not exaggerating when I say more drama. This book was not lacking for drama in the least. There was so much going on, the author rarely managed to add the right amount of emotion to the story, it felt like. I don't really know how to explain it, but I know I was having trouble connecting to the story and caring about what was happening. While I was reading, the story just felt a little rote; like all the thoughts were mechanical. Sometimes emotion would creep in, namely when Grayson was groveling at Paris's feet (which was annoying in its own right, but I'll get to that). It sort of feels like they were all robots, which is weird because this wasn't that much of a cookie-cutter story. It wasn't the most original story I've read but all the drama did lead to some surprises (almost too many, it felt a little all over the place). So I don't know why I feel like it was robotic, but that is the closest I can come to describe how this story came across to me.

My number one pet peeve was definitely the characters. I really didn't like Paris. Like I mentioned earlier, pretty much every thing that happens in this story ends up with Grayson begging (for days) to get back into Paris's good graces. However, she was no saint, but never had to grovel. She also didn't really have a reason to push him away so much. The walls she made Grayson climb over really irritated me. It made me not really like Grayson that much either. If he was willing to put up with that, more power to him, but I don't see how he could trust her not to just always run away and shut him out just because he spilt some milk or something stupid (I know I'm dramatizing a little). The most hypocritical moment was when Paris is confronted with her brother, who pushed her out of his life, she forgives within a few minutes, but she had just forgiven Grayson after letting him hang on a hook for like a week. I just didn't understand her thought process on that one, especially. I get that his couple was supposed to be a girl with insecurities and fears who gets together with a very patient man willing to wait her out because he loves her that much. As much as that scenario is actually more realistic than many other romance novels, I just didn't enjoy reading about these characters.

Final Notes... The NA fascination with extreme amounts of drama is mind boggling. Every 15 minutes or so, it seemed like another obstacle would pop up. The premise of the h becoming a topless dancer to pay her sister's debts didn't make a lot of sense nor did the insane reactions by the H when he learned a key piece of information. To all authors... I have no idea why this captured my interest so much. I loved the characters and story, the writing style is something you don't see everyday, I think that's what made it so good to read. I liked the dynamic between the two characters even though they complained and whined a lot, how the characters fought was executed perfectly. I hate books where the girl or guy don't think they are "good enough" but when this author wrote it, it was actually believable.

Paris is still in university, she just moved into a new town alone and was cut off from her brother and sister's life. Her parents died in a car accident. Yea, I know, she has a shit ton of drama in her life, but she is pretty mellow and doesn't feed off from the fact that her parents died, which I loved. She was whiney and insecure to a perfect extent which made this character actually feel real and not 2D like most characters. She is also a toxic girl, I know you have no idea what that means and I really don't wanna spoil this book so you're gonna have to read it to find out what that actually means.

Like any other story, it starts of with the "perfect love story cliché". Paris is walking down a hall way when she bumps into Grayson. (eye roll) Seriously tho, how many books start off with two characters bumping into each other?!? A ton. Grayson is the normal cliche for a love interest. He's well off, dreamy, and protective. I also found him a bit adorable at times. He sees Paris and think she looks a bit familiar and decides to pursue her. No way, I totally did not see that coming. He has an ex girlfriend named Dylan who tries to drive a wedge between the two love birds.

Throw in Grayson's little sister, Leah, whose Dylan's best friend, Paris' sister London (I know right? what were her parents thinking? even though those are pretty cool names. ) and there you go, a book full of drama, miscommunication, secrets, and mistrust, as well as two characters who are helplessly in love and you got your self a pretty interesting book.

Out of 5 stars, I give this one 3.5 just because of the writing style and it kept me on my toes to the point I was shocked that I finished it when I did.

2.5 stars

Toxic Girl is a standalone novel by the brilliant Chantal Fernando I’ve read a load of her novels they are fab and I had high hopes for this one too.

Ok so the good bits...

• Grayson, sexy, cheeky and rich happy days!!!

• College romance gotta love them!!

And the not so good bits...

• Paris, what a moaning, miserable cow!!!

Ok so I didn’t hate this book but it was just not what I was expecting from that brilliant blurb!!!
I was expecting a dark, sexy love story full of grit and angst, what I got was a college romance that was a bit annoying!!

I really disliked Paris, she started off great but as soon as she got with Grayson I just started to hate her!!

She doesn’t trust Grayson at all and they basically spend the book fighting, ignoring each other and then making up.

With a title like Toxic Girl I was hoping for something dramatic but the only risqué thing about this book is that Paris is a stripper that works in a club called Toxic. Now this is itself opens up loads of possibility but no she quits almost as soon as she gets with Grayson and the club is really never spoken of again!!

Dylan who is Grayson’s ex fuck buddy is supposed to be a bit of a villain and she causes issues between Paris & Grayson but she doesn’t really do anything other than be a bit of a pain in the butt.

I liked Grayson but he didn’t really do himself any favours, he slept with Paris’s sister London and then chatted her up to start with because he thought she was London!!

To top off the weirdness Paris then gets pregnant!!!!

There are elements when Grayson gets a bits alpha, he needed to do this more because to be honest the rest of the time he’s a bit of a pussy not a really attractive quality in a man.

I loved London she was the most vibrant and charismatic character of them all!!

I found this book all a bit disappointing, there’s nothing wrong with it per sa I just had higher hopes for a different type of book 
