The History and Culture of Pakistan has been written specifically for students taking the University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) Pakistan Studies 2059/01, O Levels. The new edition has been updated in accordance with the revised syllabus for 2010. It covers the history of Pakistan up to 1999 and provides students with comprehensive and in-depth knowledge required for the examination. The author is an examiner for O Level Pakistan Studies Paper 1. He is an experienced write of history textbooks for secondary classes, classes, GCSE and O Level.
The way the first part is structured just doesn't make chronological sense. I mean, why add these reformers before you get the context, like the decline of Aurangzeb? Why would you randomly start talking about language? Are you Tolkein? It jumps from one event to another, barely connecting them.
The second part was rather more interesting, especially the new characters introduced. I find it especially funny the way Jinnah exiled himself after no one listened to him, or how Gandhi seems to starve himself at any minor inconvenience. (Side note: someone take him to a therapist, he might have an eating disorder.) They were quite memorable, with their own distinct personalities, if not annoying.
Sadly, Jinnah and Gandhi were killed off in the first few chapters of section 3, to my dismay! They were the stars of the show! Gandhi's ending was never even shown 😢, and Jinnah's seemed rushed, as if he just had to be gotten rid of. The new characters were nowhere near as memorable, disappearing one after another with little to no time to shine. I especially think they underutilised Fatima Jinnah, only having appeared for 2-3 paragraphs of chapter 11.
All in all, I lost interest many times, and it was not nearly gripping enough.
I really hope I'm writing for the correct book, but the author is the same just the cover is different ig.
It's the history of Pakistan. I read for my IGCSE Pakistan History exam board. (Just with a newer version of it) And for that obviously I don't have great memories with it. Didn't think I'd see it here. Not giving 5 Stars for the torture. I'm not going to lie, this did have the most interesting things and stories I did NOT know about my own country. THE PERSONALITIES MENTIONED. Especially Shah walliullah, Haji sahriatullah, and Syed Ahmed Saheed Barelvi (I LITERALLY CRIED WHEN HE LOST THE BATTLE)
And everyone's Favourite, SIR SYED AHMED KHAN. (Honestly section 1 was the most interesting for me that I genuinely wanted to study history)
i think that this book is very knowlegable for olevel students as i am also a student of olevel but i am studying the book of nigel smith, i want to understand this book but it is banned in pakistan so i cant take this book to any teacher, school or academy to lear, i think that this book shoul be unbanned so students like me can understand and learn this book. this book is also having information which can come as questions in CIAE exams.
