Picked up in a bag sale because I saw horses + Smiley and had a momentary blip of thinking this was an early Jane Smiley book. Read on a whim anyway, as it was a cute if forgettable way to pass an hour or so. Very standard 80s romance for middle schoolers, but I liked the horse & stable content, of which there is honestly a fair bit. This is a girl who genuinely values her horse and it's lovely to see.
