This isn’t your regular love story. My Prince Charming didn’t ride up on a white horse and come and save me. In fact, he warned me to stay away from him. Of course, I didn’t listen. Why would I? There’s something so exciting about going after someone you shouldn’t have.

However, I never thought it would be like this. I’ve never felt so conflicted in my life. No one told me that being bad could feel so good. No one told me that when the big bad wolf tells you to run away and hide, you should listen.

If I’d only known just how far from charming my prince was, I would have ignored the invitation.

Let's start from the end! What an ending was that??? OMG!! It went out certainly with a boom! So Nancy is a girl who falls in love with her teacher.. So far so good.. She get's a little obsessed with him and follows Hunter -the teacher- to his new work place..

The academy he now works for, though it's a sex school.. And when Nancy receives her acceptance letter she grabs the opportunity to find her "true love" again, absolutely certain that he was the one that got her in the school. No someone much better awaits!!!

But luck is not on her side. Hunter is paired up with another student and Jaxon -the owner- of the academy has his eyes on her. Jaxon is arrogant, entitled, sexy, a little dark, mischievous, sentimental and very smart. If you can not tell yet, i'm on his side.

They share some serious chemistry right away and after a very hot scene in a club i think that Nancy changed her mind about him. But the ending was something i didn't see, it was very abrupt -in a good way- and a real cliffhanger.

THOUGHTS ABOUT THE BOOK

- Intriguing and unique plot line and characters.
- Good, solid writing.
- I liked Jaxon from the start.
- Nancy is a little naive.
- Jaxon and his father plotting!!!
- Hunter is pathetic.
- The anticipation he creates is so hot.
- Amber is very brazen.

I listened to the Audible version on my commute yesterday. To say that the narration was irritating was an understatement. It was so over the top that it really made the story unenjoyable. The heroine was so immature that as I was listening, I felt like I was trapped in a room with a giddy, 13 year-old valley girl.

I have enjoyed other serials by this author, but will not be continuing this one. There's a chance I might have enjoyed it more if I had read vs. listened, but I wasn't intrigued enough by this story to find out. It just didn't work out for me.

A very grabbing prologue
“I want to make you mine.”

with a story that fell short. This first instalment of The Love Trials serial simply wasn’t to my taste and I even found it a bit disturbing.

I wanted something short to read. This was on a friend’s TBR and blurb seemed interesting so I gave it a go. What the blurb failed to mention is that this is about a clueless, barely legal, fresh out of high school, virgin who “falls in love” with Hunter, one of her teachers, and blindly follows him to his second job. Which is as a sex teacher in the very philanthropic Lovers’ Academy. Yes, the owner is very concerned helping young women with their future.
“Why are you bringing girls here for free to teach them to seduce men? What do you get from it?”
“The pleasure of knowing that I made a difference.”

If I had the money I think I would make a difference in a sports or musical program. But that’s just me.

Before Nancy arrives to her weekend training at the academy, which I might add she sneaks off to without telling her parents or friends, she meets Amber and Shannon, who will be her new “classmates.” I wonder what the women that fought for equality and women’s liberation would think about Amber’s aspirations?
“I came because I want hot sex to get me a powerful man on Wall Street. I want to live in a penthouse on Fifth Avenue and I want a summer home in the Hamptons... And sex will get me that.”

Nancy also meets and is attracted Jaxon. Prince uncharming and the academy’s owner. Once at her destination she finds out her “love and soul mate” will be another girl’s sex tutor, that he doesn’t recognize her, and that Jaxon has never taught but has decided to be Nancy’s teacher.

I think maybe the plot wouldn’t have rubbed me the wrong way so much if Nancy was an older woman simply looking to satisfy her curiosity, instead of an incredibly naïve and “silly little girl” who is way in over her head.

Because the writing is good and the plot is intriguing. It being a serial ended in a cliffhanger that left me perversely curious when Nancy accidentally overhears Jaxon conspiring with his father against her.

Truthfully I hope I can find a review with spoilers for the next installments or locate some good reviews where my issues are addressed so I can decide whether or not to continue reading this serial. I do have several of J.S. Cooper’s books on my TBR which will now look at more carefully and bump at least one to the top of my list to get a better feel for her writing.

This is a really tough call, while I did not love the story, it did suck me in and have me reading the whole serial.

Nancy is such a contradiction! Innocent virgin but super sassy and independent. It was hard getting a real bead on who she was and what was happening.

I guess it would have helped if I had read the other serials that are set in the same world. I was lost with all the extra plot intrigues.

This book kind of sets things up and getting you into the mix of the "Lovers, Academy" It starts out as a girl who is lusting after her former teacher. I am not generally a fan of this theme, but whatever. It ends up she can be distracted by a bad boy what gets to her by being a jerk. Some girls dig that, Nancy is one of them. She swiftly changes her interest to Jaxon, who seems to be doing some serious head games!

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Marami Hung, who is fantastic. She has a great energy and sucks you further into the book. She is a big part of why I kept listening and needed to finish the serial. Her tone is pleasing and the energy she puts into it is engaging. It is a nice pace, but I like it a little quicker, so I punched up the speed.

*** I hope this review was useful to you and helped your decision to read or not read this book. I love reading and sharing my opinions with other readers. I listen at double speed; all my impressions of the narration are from that setting. Thanks for taking the time to read my review! You will love this new 3part serial from JS Cooper! We previously met Nancy in the Private a Club serial and in After the Ex Games.

Nancy is 18 years old and wanting to go after her high school teacher/crush who now works at the Lovers Academy. Nancy thinks Hunter accepted her application and can't wait to see what happens. Nancy hopes he will be her instructor. Once she is there, not only is he not her instructor, he doesn't even seem to remember her. Nancy's instructor turns out to be Jaxon, the owner of the academy. He promises to take her places with her sexuality and teach her how to get a man.

Nancy is not sure of herself and has a hard time letting go and freeing herself. As much as she wanted Hunter, she finds herself pulled to Jaxon. Just as she is ready to let go and continue with Jaxon's lessons, she heard him talking about her in the hallway with his father.

This book ends in a cliffhanger and with questions to be answered. It's a good thing we won't have to wait too long for volume 2! I can't wait to see what JS Cooper has in store for us!

Not for me. I feel like I might have missed something to the story. It says it's the first book in the series, but it didn't feel that way. Anywho... moving on...

This is a new 3 part series from JS Cooper, it features people we've already met from The ex games and The private club.

This book is about Nancy, Brandon's daughter. Brandon and Greyson was the ones who started the Private club.

Nancy applies for a place at the lovers academy. She has her reasons for wanting to be there. And he is called Hunter. The invite arrives telling her she has her place. Then a second letter arrives, one signed a mysterious person. Nancy hopes its Hunter.

After lying to her family she sets off for the lovers academy. She isn't even sure what will happen at the lovers academy, she has one goal in mind to see Hunter.

Things don't go according to plans as when she is assigned her 'teacher' it isn't Hunter.

I loved this story, it was not what i had expected, it was far more, i would even go as far to say its mysterious and a little darker. I like Nancy, she is a believable character and there is so much more to Nancy than what we saw in The Private Club. I can not wait to read more. I am wondering what will happen when, yep i said WHEN, her dad Brandon finds out where she really is. I am imaging fireworks and a lot swearing and shouting.

Weird and disturbing. The last page made me curious though, but not enough to buy the rest of the series. The price for part 2 is okay, but I'm not willing to pay what part 3 costs.

The ex games was still tolerable, unfortunately this one just made me feel like I can't get back some of the hours I have lost reading it. I think the plot is somewhat intriguing although like with the ex games it was probably too complicated. overall it was too long drawn and then too rushed at the end.

4.5 Stars.....
Another great serial romance by J. S. Cooper

Were you addicted to The Ex Games serial and The Private Club serial by J. S. Cooper? I know I was. I just couldn’t get enough. As both series ended there were characters that I wanted to know more about. I wanted them to have their own story. I was curious on how their lives would turn out. One of those characters was Nancy.

Nancy turned out to be a complete surprise in The Private Club series. Her connections with the owners of the Private Club were much deeper than the readers anticipated. She became a major player in this ongoing saga. The Love Trials is her story.

Nancy has been in love with an older man for years. He was her teacher and mentor. She truly thought they were to be destined soulmates. Once she became an adult and a legal age, she decided she was going to go after her dream. After a lengthy research, she finds her former teacher is now teaching at the Lovers’ Academy. It is not your ordinary school. It is a school that teaches women the art of seduction and the power of sex.

Nancy enrolled and was accepted into the Lovers’ Academy. She sees this as her opportunity to reunite with her beloved Hunter. She knows that once she gets there, they will be able to pursue a relationship without the boundaries of society, family, and friends. They can be together now that she is legal. They can have the forever love they were destined to have.

Things didn’t turn out exactly as Nancy planned once she arrived at the Lovers’ Academy. Hunter didn’t regconize or acknowledge her. She was assigned a different teacher. The actual curriculum of the Lovers’ Academy is quite different from her expectations. It is not lectures, demonstrations, and book reading. It is hands on. She will learn the art of love making with her new instructor in a very personal manner. Is she up to it? If it will land her Hunter, she will go the mile.

Her instructor has her heart racing, her desire escalating, and her complete attention. He is strong, sexy, knowledgeable, and mysterious. He has the right kind of curriculum to have Nancy striving to be a star student.

As the lessons begin, Nancy will discover secrets about herself she never thought she had. She will start falling into her instructor, Jaxon’s web, and will find that Hunter may not be what she thought he was. In fact, it appears Hunter has an agenda of his own that might not be good for Nancy. We won’t know until The Love Trials Vol. 2.

What is Hunter’s agenda?
Why has Jaxon chosen Nancy as his student?
Are there secrets lying beneath the surface at the Lovers’ Academy?
What is Nancy’s next assignment?

J. S. Cooper has delivered another sensual, intriguing, suspenseful new serial. It is the spin off of The Ex Games and The Private Club. It is starting out just as thrilling. I can’t wait to read more.

I would give this story a five star rating for the plot, characters, story flow, and pacing. Five stars for entertainment value, I could not put it down. The only thing that kept The Love Trials Vol. 1 from being a five star rating is that there were several editing errors in the 48 pages. As a reader and reviewer I expect better editing.

Okay so again there is LOTS of stuff I love and lots not so much.

Lets Okay so again there is LOTS of stuff I love and lots not so much.

Lets start with what I do love. I actually enjoyed this more than the Private Club! the story line and the concept is really intriguing and I am excited to see where it goes. The ending also was in like JS fashion and left me thinking WTF is going on!!!! so I cannot wait for part 2 to see what is going on and who this Jaxon and his father are. What is going on at this academy? does it have to do with Brandon? I just hope it isn't dragged out drama and lies and etc. That gets old fast.
I loved that Nancy is trying to find her love or the person she thought she was in love with. She has spent some time trying to find Hunter and she finally does. He is a teacher at this academy and she tries to get him to notice her. But she gets noticed by the alluring Jaxon. My only issues with him and these characters are that they feel like Meg and Greyson... the whole acts like a prick then is nice, the whole bad wolf thing. I have seen this before and in a few of Jaimie's books and I would just like for chracters to start changing and not being so similar to each other. And no more hot and cold, nice and mean. It just gets tiring after awhile. But Jaxon is probably my favorite so far. He does have differences apart from other characters but I can see many similarities. But he is interesting and working his magic on Nancy for sure. He is steamy and I cannot wait to see where the next installment goes. I will be eagerly awaiting it. There was also a few errors but did not distract from the story. Just thought I would note that for the author. All in all it was VERY good and I think everyone will love and enjoy this! a must read series. Jaimie does not disappoint.

This book is a HOT idea! It's all about, well suppose to be, learning how to seduce a man. That's what the Lovers Academy claims to be all about anyways...

Seriously, why don't we have such a place for real?

Nancy, a naive 18-year-old, has it bad for her former high school teacher Hunter. After learning that he works at the Lovers Academy, she applies there, in hopes to seduce Hunter. Instead, she is paired with Jaxon, the obnoxious dude from the train she had the misfortune of meeting while on her way to the academy. Nancy was under the misguided notion that Hunter is the one that approved her application, and that he would be her instructor while there. Nancy having no clue of what the Academy is really about, is in for a huge surprise! Hence the naive comment from earlier.

The narrator Marami Hung did an excellent job of portraying an 18-year-old's voice. She was able to control her tones very well for each emotion and situation as it was happening in the story. Marami was a very good fit for this character and book. ;)

The story line is not just all about mindless sex. There is a surprising twist at the end that I was not expecting. Nancy is easily seduced by Jaxon, and forgets all about Hunter, and Jaxon is not just in it for the love of teaching! The book is only 1 hr. and 42 min., but boy that was enough for me to get hooked! I totally want to hear the next book and find out what that twist in the story is all about and how it unfolds.

"Passion makes for the best kind of love."

Nancy has applied to the Love Academy because she believes herself to be in love with a former teacher of hers. She tells her family that she is going to go look at colleges but instead she travels alone with hope in her heart. She encounters a very handsome yet very mysterious gentleman on the train ride. She doesn't know why her body reacts the way it does when he stares at her and when she gets close to him. But she does not have time to worry about that since she must get to the academy to see Hunter.

Once there, she is assigned a "teacher" but he has not yet arrived. When she is shown into her room, to her surprise her "teacher" has been replaced by the mysterious man from the train, Jaxon.Oh my, now that these two have to spend time together the sparks fly.

However, just when Nancy believes she can have something with Jaxon, she overhears a conversion between him and his father. Now she doesn't know what to do.

I have really enjoyed Ms. Cooper's books in the past, but this serial is really intense and captivating. Cannot wait to see what will happen next.

The full review for "The Love Trials" can be found here.

The Love Trials will turn your head upside down with tiny informations zipping between one line and the other, and no information at all. The cliffhangers will be like a heart attack — each time — you didn't see coming, nor will you know what's next. Well, you will when grab the last book. Overall? It would’ve been more interesting if the main character, Nancy, weren’t so naïve nor a complete idiot when it came to men. Not everything is what’s look like. You may like a character or two, but by the end all of them would be nothing for you.

The story begins with Nancy receiving a letter of acceptance to a club, where her crush is working at. She is unaware of what’s happening, didn’t think it through. Impulsive might be her middle name. On her way to this Lover’s Academy, Nancy meets a guy that oozes danger, creepiness, and sex. Nothing she’s experienced before. But for her luck, she might get to know him on every damn level in the near future.

J.S. Cooper has done it again, I was engrossed from the minute I started this book. Nancy had found out recently that she had been accepted into the Lovers Academy, where her former high school teacher , with whom she has a crush on, is teaching. Nancy assumes Hunter is the person who accepted her application. On her train ride to the academy, she encounters a man which makes her uncomfortable, but soon she will be off the train, and thinks she will be in the arms of her former teacher. If you would like to know more, then go purchase The Love Trials by J.S.Cooper, you will not be disappointed, this is a series of three books, to come out real close together. Again, J.S., let me just say how much I really love your work and I enjoy the anticipation of waiting for the next book of the series to v find out what secrets lie ahead. Thank you.

The Love Trials struck me as a textbook for a college class I once took in psychology. Then, as I began to read the pages, I saw how much wisdom this young writer had compiled for the reader's benefit. I recognized truths from my past and from the pasts of friends and acquaintances I have known over a longer lifetime than this young lady has yet to live.

She has gathered truths about love, life and relationships, that, if read and understood correctly, could serve as a handbook for the young and unlearned lover. This is a book I could see myself giving to my teenage daughter ( or son ) after they had gone through the agony of puberty and were embarking on a time of seeking that one true love that would last them a lifetime.

First off I'll mention that I feel I can't fairly review this book. The main character is 18 years old and I think this would be a much better read for someone 18 - 20 something age range. The story-line is for a much younger based than myself and that was my only issue with this book.
Otherwise, Although this is a short story, you really get a lot of background info that helps you really get to know the characters and really helps build the plot. However, I did continue on and read the novellas in the order given on Goodreads. The Ex Games novellas 1-3, then The Private Club novellas 1-3 and then The Ex Games #4 (After the Ex Games) and then The Love Trials novellas 1-3.
I did enjoy some of the novellas more then the others but I think anyone in the 18 - 20 something age range who likes this genre would enjoy these novellas.
