Thieves of Time Forgotten (The Shadow Heir Trilogy) Release Date: September 2024 Genre: YA Romantasy
A kingdom whose deadliest secrets live only in its memories. After two years, Naomi Elistaire escapes the dungeons of the very castle where she was once a princess. Exiled in the foreign kingdom of Tashiki, Naomi has one final chance to reclaim the throne and save the empire from her tyrannous mother.
She assembles her crew: two quick-handed thieves and an escaped assassin, along with a mischievous snow monkey. The plan? Cross Tashiki, reach the king-in-waiting before his coronation, and bargain her way to an army—all while hiding the Dark magic that courses through her royal blood. And then there’s Ez. The man she once loved… and the traitor whose choice lost her the last war. Rumor has it he’s set to sail for Tashiki too, drawn by a rogue mission and a prophecy lost to time centuries ago.
Lies. Love. Revolution.

I would like to start this off by saying thank you to Emilia for sending me an arc of Thieves Of Time Forgotten the second book of The Shadow Heir Trilogy! I actually really enjoyed this! It was really easy to read, and really fun! I loved that storyline is easy to follow and it doesn’t feel too rushed. The characters were well written I enjoyed getting to meet new characters, and I’m very excited to see the rest of their storylines! Grek is definitely my favorite character he gives Carswell Thorne vibes(compliment of the highest order coming from me) Honestly even if the storyline ever felt slow to me(which it really didn’t) reading about Grek would make it all better! I could probably right a whole post just about Grek. I wish we could’ve had more Ez and Naomi together I think now that they’re older their storylines gonna be so much better. I don’t know why but something with Amethyst and Urumi just didn’t feel right to me. I’m not gonna lie I think the main reason I didn’t rate this book higher is because Daunt is so so so annoying to me. He literally sat there people injured and dying in front of him and all he does is complain that he’s cold the entire time, and then he begs for a story and isn’t happy when the story isn’t what he wants. It just made me annoyed. I have to say I really really hope that Amethyst’s vision about Grek is somehow stopped. Also that ending was amazing! I actually really didn’t see it coming. This book was really good though! I managed to read it in twenty four hours of that says anything(I’m not a fast reader)
This is the second book of this series and a great continuation to the story. A huge thank you to the author for sending me an ARC to review. If you compare the writing in this book to the first, you can see the growth of the author's writing. (She wrote book 1 when she was 10 years old). The imagination of this young author still blows my mind. The only thing I wish was knowing what happened in the two years of being in the maze.
Wow! "Thieves of Time Forgotten" is such beautiful, unique, compelling story filled with themes of darkness and light, hope and heartache, determination and despair. It's told from four different deep-third person POVs, all completely distinct and with their own voice! It's truly incredible how the author shows such personality and development in the characters through these pages. I LOVE Naomi and Heather-they are definitely my favorite characters! There are so many good, relatable, realistic female characters in this book-ones with struggles and hopes and dreams and fears. In fact, all the characters are like that. They're all so REAL. So VIVID. The plot is intriguing and the world building is so well done! The writing is fluid, engaging, and immersive. I truly enjoyed every minute of this story! I loved losing myself in these character's world, getting swept along in the struggles and resiliency, failures and triumphs of Naomi, Ez, Amethyst, Heather, Miko, Urumi, Ariah. It blows me away that a girl my age wrote this, and gives me hope that I can pursue this path too! Such a fantastic book from an inspiring, talented author! Can't wait for book three in the Shadow Heir Trilogy!
A quick and exciting read, filled with head spinning twists and multiple POVs, check this book out if you’re looking for your next YA dark magic romantasy!
You follow the plot lines of several characters including a young prince inheriting a kingdom that’s falling apart, a princess who everyone thinks is dead, the dragon shifter that betrayed her, a pair of thieves and an escaped assassin! The princess Naomi and assassin Heather escape their holding and end up crossing paths with the thieves Grek and Amethyst, and must work together to cross kingdoms and get to the prince before he ascends the throne and get his help to take back Naomi’s throne!
This book was full of action, thieving and plotting and of course a bit of dark magic that had me flipping to the next page constantly! I enjoyed having multiply POVs that kept several story lines going until they all finally crashed together in the end! And that ending?!? I can’t wait to find out how this all works out for the characters in the next book! This was a good middle book for the trilogy and it continued to introduce new magic and characters that I think will lead to an exciting 3rd and final book in the trilogy! My rating 4/5!
Thanks to the author for the gifted copy, all opinions given are my own!
This fast paced, thrilling YA fantasy adventure has dragon shifters and dark magic, betrayal and secrets, darkness and rebellion, courage and determination, sorrow and fear all delicately intertwined around an FMC who is just as fierce as she is vulnerable.
Although I have not read book 1, I didn’t feel too lost. I’m sure I am missing quite a bit considering how much of this story is in book 2 comparatively. The characters are beautifully diverse and will have you rooting for some while others will get under your skin. The writing is immersive and the world building is colorful and dynamic making for a page turning and enjoyable read that kept me engaged the entire time.
“From the ashes of a revolution… dawns a new kingdom.”
Just wrapped up Thieves of Time Forgotten, and wow! Emilia Ramos Samper really knows how to weave an intricate world. This second book in The Shadow Heir Trilogy took me deeper into the chaos of time, secrets, and betrayals—basically, it’s the kind of read that makes you question every character’s motive (in the best way possible). The pacing kept was good, and honestly, I’m still blown away by how someone so young has the imagination to create such a complex world!
If you're into fantasy with layered characters, give this series a go. It’s like a puzzle that slowly comes together, but you still find a few missing pieces to keep you hooked for the next book.
Thank you Emilia for sending me a review copy. Glad I read it!
“What voices in your head are so important that you have to shush everyone around you?”
Betrayals. New friends. Found family. Maybe a second chance romance happening? 👀 Book 2 was an amazing continuation. I loved the new characters we meet. And the more we learn about Miranda’s powers, the more I can’t wait for book 3! When Heather told Naomi who had her help get Naomi out of the maze I totally teared up a bit 🥹 Grek was such a fun character! I hope we get more of him in book 3.
Thank you Emilia for my review copy 🫶🏼 I can’t wait to share this series with my daughter!
I went into this without reading book one and honestly… I was a little nervous. But I didn’t feel lost at all. The world building pulled me in fast, and the stakes felt real from the start. This story is layered with assassins, royals, thieves, and secrets that refuse to stay buried. The assassin who sacrificed everything for his people and the princess of darkness absolutely carried the emotional weight for me. There’s magic, betrayal, and that constant tension of a kingdom trying to rise from the ashes of revolution. It felt intense and dramatic in the best way.
This sequel was quick paced and exciting. I enjoyed the additional characters that were introduced along the way. And I’m loving how everything is starting to come together.
I enjoyed Ez in this one. The found family along the way is sweet as well.
If you enjoy morally grey characters, strong FMC, betrayal, secrets, dark pasts, shadow powers, dragon shifters, rebellion, and so much more then check this one out.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. Emilia’s writing has improved so much and it was so fun seeing the evidence of that in this book. I especially loved seeing her improved character development.
This series has such an amazing and in depth world. Emilia did a great job setting it up in book 1 and expanding on it in book 2. The world building was very well executed in my opinion.
I’d love to see more interactions with Naomi and Ez. But I also really loved the addition of new characters.
To me Emilia’s world building is really what stands out. She’s managed to create such an amazing world. This is a great YA fantasy that I think all lovers of the genre should pick up.
